Dear /hearthstone please support awareness for blizzard's negligence towards an over 2 year problem for Mac users

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 02:38 AM PDT

For the unaware (besides blizzard), Mac users have been hindered by an over 2 year issue that causes the game to begin showing rainbow graphics before ultimately crashing.

April 28th 2015 was blizzard's first official admittance of the problem on their technical support forum. See thread: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/hearthstone/topic/17086220493?page=1

Currently the only solution for this problem is to immediately force quit hearthstone and reconnect. This process obviously takes some time even if you're experienced with the issue and frequently causes loses due to missing a turn (or more depending on when the crash occurs and how quickly you're able to force quit the app. Often you can't even reconnect without completely restarting your mac).

I sincerely hope that this sub will support raising awareness of this issue so that maybe blizzard actually makes fixing this issue a priority and stops neglecting mac users (while continuing to accept their money) .

Losing to pirate warrior makes me salty, but playing as pirate warrior makes me even saltier.

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 12:23 AM PDT

How can anybody stand playing this? I was been on the cusp of getting over to the rank 5 floor, but the influx of pirate warriors would semi consistently push me back to rank 7. Sometimes they would get unlucky and I would be able to stabilize and win. Other times I would get lucky and win by my own win condition before they kill me by turn 4/5 (playing miracle priest for the lulz). But a majority of the time I just get blown out of the water.

Since I just wanted to get to the rank floor relatively quick, I queue as pirate warrior myself. It was just awful. I'll admit, I have a weak grasp of the aggro mentality. But still, I would alternate between winning and losing. Close to all my matches felt like they were decided upon the mulligan. Im pretty sure Ben Brode himself was punishing me for joining the pirate side, since I got so many unwanted patch pulls during the opening turns and mulligans. The matches were so mind bogglingly rng based for me, I wanted to just chuck my phone at a wall. I eventually got to the rank floor due to my opponent conceding to me the moment I played southsea deckhand (followed by a friend request that I ignored).

This is a legit question pirate warrior mains out there; how do you do it? How can you handle playing such a polarizing deck? I know it takes some degree of agency to play the deck well, but I just feel like the rng of the mulligan and first turn is so heavily weighted that skill almost doesn't matter. It drives me insane knowing that there will be matches I will most likely lose just by my mulligan and there's practically nothing I can do about it.

How do you deal with the annoying 5 gold arena problem? A lottery!

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 06:04 AM PDT

I'm sure lots of people have a 'spare' 5 gold from an arena run. Instead of waiting for another 5 gold reward, what if there was a weekly/monthly lottery. For 5 gold you would be assigned a random set of numbers and letters and the winner gets a reward of 50 packs. If no one wins, it keeps rolling over by adding a pack every time or something until someone does.

Just thought this would be a fun way to spend your gold with a small chance of a big reward. The odds of winning would be so small, I don't think it would be too generous a give away. Terrible idea? Or good use of Hearthstone's advantage of being an online game?

u/bbrode wanted to know why people play questrogue.

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 10:02 PM PDT

Well here is the answer (my opinion and from a few high legend friends).

I piloted the deck to legend on both modes and the reason for me was that the deck has close to 0 gamewinning RNG besides carddraw. Sure it also does well against midrange and control archtypes but it also rewards skill over dumb RNG wins. Swashburgler maybe won me some extra games here and there but mostly it doesnt matter what he is getting me. Same goes with many other top tier decks around. Decks like pirate warrior, the old patron warrior, jade druid, freeze mage are decks which contain very low RNG and reward skill over RNG.

I feel skilled players don't get any enjoyment out of RNG wins at all. When I play decks with a high amount of RNG it just feels wrong or frustrating over time. Either I high roll and win leaving a salty opponent or low roll and lose the game despite I actually played better. That also reflects the feelings of most top tier players who more and more hating hearthstone or stop playing alltogether.

Is RNG bad for the game alltogether ? No.

In my opinion RNG on cards like lyra is okay because it needs a setup to work since you need to have enough mana, maybe a radiant elemental and a spell. Cards who may win you the game on their own like paveling book, glyph or other random effects which only involves the card you played and that you maybe snatch a win with it are bad.

(sorry for any grammar mistakes or misspelling.)

What does /r/hearthstone think about not seeing wild boards in standard anymore?

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 12:34 AM PDT

Since the last update wild boards (naxx, gvg, tgt, blackrock, and loe) don't show in standard game modes anymore.

Seeing as I only ever play standard modes, it's quite disappointing being limited to only a few boards.

The wild boards have some of the best fidgets of any of the boards, such as the massive laser in gvg, where you can shoot the rocket into space, the archery practice in tgt, and sulfuras in blackrocks board.

I'd love to hear everyone else's stance on this.

If Sherazin go dormant, why does a spell that countered by counterspell not trigger him?

Cards like Edwin or Questing Adventure still count it as played.
