Anyway we can swap hero sets while swapping heroes?

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 01:22 PM PDT

I have seen many players who swapped heroes in game and in turn, their sets also got swapped. Today, I tried this with my friend. He had a CK immo and I had a sven custom set. We swapped hero set during strategy time. But we got the default set only when the game started and nobody got any set. Does anyone know if hero set swapping possible or not?

What's the best way to improve mechanical skill issues?

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 08:21 PM PDT

So I'm mostly asking this question due to some issues I've had recently playing Invoker. He is, by far, my most played hero with roughly 250 games played, fluctuating around a 51.5-52% winrate. I know that's fairly solid, but my overall is about 57%, so I'm becoming frustrated with it, as I hoped the winrate would rise more as I played more games and became comfortable on the hero.

Now, I do feel fairly comfortable on him, and am fully capable of using his spells together in combos, landing sun strikes, etc, but what I've narrowed down to be what I think is my biggest problem with him and other mid heroes is that I normally don't win my lane, I either tie it or lose, then come back to get farmed through jungling and fighting later.

So my question mostly boils down to: How can I improve my laning, and mechanics involved in laning? Just practice on it's own doesn't seem to be helping me in this, most likely because I'm just missing something that I need to be doing to improve it.

My dotabuff if you think it'll provide any help:

Approaching the game when your mid is significantly below the MMR of the opposing mid

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 08:24 AM PDT

I've had several international games lately where our mid has been significantly lower than the enemy mid. It occurs to me that this can probably happen normally in 4k-5k avg games where each team has a 6k, one of which goes mid and the other doesn't.

How to handle being the lower mid player has been handled well in other posts. What things do you as a support player when you know your mid is outclassed?

Things I tried to do - pay particular attention to mid and tp to countergank. Extra focus on stacking offlane camps so mid can come back from bad start. Ensure enemy has no vision mid and that we have a ward mid.

Are there other things that are worth thinking about?

Any tips on maintaining good last hits per minute?

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 05:06 PM PDT

I struggle almost everytime I play core because I just cant maintain a high level of farm. My top priority is usually just not dying. I would usually limit myself to jungle even early on. Its even difficult to reach 80 cs in the 10 min mark. Then I proceed to having about 50 cs per 10 min. What is the ideal cs/min for most cores and any tips on how to maintain it even throughout mid-late game where one mistake in position could cost you the entire game or maybe guides on having a good farming pattern?

Winning in lower bracket

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 04:10 PM PDT

Hi, I'm 2k mmr scrub. Played 9 games today and only won 2, despite doing quite well (I think) in all 9. After this I'm not really sure if winning in 2k really has something to do with individual skill rather than pure luck. Came to this conclusion after analyzing today's games

3276163298 - Tinker

First game of this day. Picked Tinker, got countered by Storm. Made him leave his lane and go jungle. My safelane did quite bad against enemy solo mirana, especially slark who was useless all game. I didn't do very well as this was my first game.

3276207612 - Razor

Zeus didn't let me go mid, I went carry razor. Was solo against es, killed him several times, was ganked by riki several times, everything was pretty good for me. Zeus, tho, lost his lane to PA. Weaver was extremely bad ('rushed' 30 min linkens says it all).

3277477627 - Templar Assassin

First won game. Guy in my team picked broog vs kotl & sf + magnus was picked later. Also, troll that went jungle even though we had 2 roaming supports, 1 of them was forced to take safelane not to let magnus free farm. Still won somehow...

3277576456 - Phantom Assassin

Expected to face Invoker mid, instead there was Lina. That lane was really painful. Allied tidehunter died on his lane few times and started afk farming radiance. I didn't do very well in that game: didn't play PA for 2 weeks (not like it's a complex hero but still), had a quite bad start, and also my teammates argued and flamed each other during literally the whole match. I made stupid mistakes but I don't think we could win that game anyway.

3277687352 - Tiny

This game was a shitshow. We didn't have a courier for, like, 6 minutes iirc? A guy on my team picked arc warden and said he would go mid when I already marked that lane. I convinced him to leave. Enemy ember was constantly receiving helf from his supports (ganks, save-tps) but I did fine. Arc warden got a 18 (or so) min midas, abandoned the game later (when we were losing). TA also went afk. Last 10-20 minutes we were playing 3v5.

3277804566

Funny one. Double mid with Zeus, pretty much nothing to say here. I know I should have given the lane up to him but I don't think it would change anything, really.

3277983371 - Tinker

Another win. Can't say much here. I made some stupid mistakes sometimes but only because I was playing very greedy because we were winning anyway.

3278117364 - Ancient Apparition

'mid aa? gg' - CM, during pick stage. Destroyed Invoker, made some kills, told my team to def & farm several times. Result: luna is underfarmed, enigma can't land a decent blackhole. Loss.

3278173265 - Silencer

Last one. This one is just... SOMETHING. No comments here, stats say it all. Maybe except that sven called everyone else retarded noobs after this game lol.

So what can I say in conclusion? After looking at games I played today (2-7) and yesterday (6-1), I really don't see how winning/losing games in lower brackets is not luck but skill. It's all about what team you get to play with and against. I have nothing more to say and I really want to hear what others think about this.

P.S.: This is not a complaint about what shitty teammates did I get to play with today. It's a discussion about playing and winning in lower brackets.

Mask of Madness Juggernaut

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 05:58 AM PDT

I've been really messing around with mask of madness lately. My latest abomination was mask of madness juggernaut. My idea was that I could activate it during omnislash to dish out a lot more damage, but found that it is useful for so many things, like farming, chasing, and just killing people with right clicks.

I've also used it on wraith king, lifestealer, and dragon knight.

Anyone else try some weird heroes with mask of madness? What is the verdict? Am I just an idiot or is mask of madness more versatile and powerful than it seems?

Learning to play support

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 10:05 AM PDT

I spammed carries for 1700 games and now that I feel like I'm decent at it I wanna learn other roles too, so I started playing a bit of offlane and support. Offlane is going pretty well, but when I safelane support I find myself confused about the basics of the role (in the laning phase).

For example I just played a game with Rubick against an offlane weaver, I couldn't zone him because he was trading better than me so I went to pull non-stop. Is this the correct approach? Even though I pretty much always pulled the weaver was able to contest it and get way more out of the lane than my carry did. Am I missing something very important here?

So, ratting Panti-Mage in low MMR ...

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 09:51 AM PDT

Maybe it's just been random luck, but it seems like there's been one of these in every game lately.

And of course, it's one of those things where when he's on the enemy team it's buy Battlefury, win game; when he's on your team, it's 30-minute Power Treads and Yasha, and all he can do is get chain-stunned and die, or run away from teamwipes and stand around watching the enemy knock down your towers.

I get the basic premise, which is that about 30 minutes into the game, every time you turn around, there he is threatening your top rax, and you have to come back to defend and then you can't even kill him. Basically a flash farmer who then gets even more free farm + free push because you need multiple stuns or silences to successfully gank him, and sub-2k it's pretty much luck of the draw whether your team even has that. As a bonus, in fights: Whoops, shit, out of mana, no ultimate.

So, for those who play AM - what ruins your day? Who/what do you despise playing against? I'd love to know what works; not a whole lot of obvious counters to him. I've been considering playing a few games with the little fucker myself just to see, but never got around to it / would feel like an asshole too.

Anyone review this OD game for me please

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 01:14 PM PDT

This was one of my better games, but I wasn't satisfied with my laning especially against a melee hero like WK. All reviews welcome, but as always, preferably someone 3.5K or higher would be really appreciated. Some points I'd like to make beforehand :

1) I had constant Ping spikes to 1000 almost once every minute that really hampered my play. You might noticed me somehow not managing to kill Kunkaa after getting him really low in mid lane, and instead dying to MK. I just lagged out badly then. Eitherways don't bother about keeping this in mind while pointing out anything from the plays, just wanted to get it out their.

2) I bought Satanic on OD. I totally overlooked the fact that OD orbs are UAM.

3) I mistimed my prisons alot, and didnt really stop WK from secruing CS (either by prisoning him to early or way to late)

I'd love all analysis especially for laning but would be awesome if I could get some reviews for teamfights and other aspects as well

[2.7k MMR] What am I doing wrong on Bristleback?

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 05:31 AM PDT

Hello Guys!

Lately I have been playing Bristleback as it currently seems to be an easy hero to gain MMR with. However the last few games were horrible and I feel like I don't really have any impact in the games I play with him.

  1. This was the first of 4 consecutive games I played with Bristle and the only one we won: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3267999333 .
Although I didn't die this game I feel like I didn't really have a lot of impact either. My farm was abysmal and I think that's the main reason why I'm feeling kind of "powerless" in my games. However, we were fighting a lot and I often have a hard time balancing farming and fighting with my team.

  2. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3268066823
In this game I knew from the beginning that they will try to push us to death with the Drow Ranger. They had a lot of ranged heroes and therefore huge amounts of damage. Again my last hits were really low for a 50 minute game and I died way too much. The Windrunner in this game was offlane and completely out of control after a few minutes. When I am playing Bristle offlane how do I deal with my safelane getting raped? Should I really TP and try to help and risk to die? Because in this game I just stayed offlane and tried to get as much farm as possible.
Lategame we managed to turn the game but we again had some bad fights and got outplayed.

  3. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3268231147
Again playing against drow here. This time our safelane got completely rekt by a Clinkz which carried the game for their team. I feel like I can't do anything if the safelane goes bad. I guess I have to be able to destroy the enemy safelane too but I can't manage to do that. How do I play a proper Bristle?

  4. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3268431251
Last game I played before giving up. The SD was laning with me the whole time and our mid Lina just got camped by the enemy supports. In this game again I can't seem to keep up the farm to get to that "unkillable Raid Boss" state.

I hope this is enough Information to at least give me some tips how to change my playstyle to be more effective with Bristleback. All tips are appreciated.

Have a nice day!

I personally hate, smurfing/boosters in game. Most of the people , advice, to improve fast is to smurf and spam a single hero. I don't know where it takes me, but for sure, I know I don't improve in the aspect of game knowledge or versatality. Any advice to improve ? Or making a new account will help ?

Decision making as am?

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 11:38 AM PDT

So my team was horribly behind and i had a horrible lane so i got a 17 min bf. I decided since i was so underfarmed and so far behind to split push but we ended up giving up mega creeps by 24 mins into the game. Do you guys think its better when your really far behind to fight with your team rather than split push?

Sorry I am a horrible noob im only 1.4k so dont flame me too hard lol.

Whats wrong with my medusa ?

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 12:47 AM PDT

She supossed to be a god tier late game HC, however, I dont feel like shes strong like spectre or other HC when I full build late game game, I mean, I cant deal damage, even WITH DAEDALUS, takes ages to kill someone, off course shes ultra tank so 1vs1 she can solo kill almost anyone late game, because of endurance, but fuck, takes ages, I literally cant find a way to deal damage with this, I most times build : Pike,Skadi,Butterfly,Daedalus and linkens. I saw people playing her on tournaments and stomping everything in their path, why my just dont work ? I missing something and I need someone to help me, I really enjoy play medusa

How do you farm faster as Invoker?

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 09:05 AM PDT

Basically I have around 400 - 500 XPM and GPM as him, I do know his combos and skills and stuff but farm is what I am having trouble as him, it feels like he clears waves really slow unless I use my skills which puts me in a disadvantage because of their really high cooldown.

I always make sure my Alacrity and Forge Spirits are always on cooldown.

I've tried QE, WE, QW and none of them seem to get my farm faster.

My usual build consists of Midas > Scepter > BoT/Blink > Blink/BoT. Is it wrong to rush scepter? I always feel like I would be more useful in teamfights if I have all my abilities being unleashed every 2 seconds.

I skip Talents because I think one level on q/w/e/ would give me more advantage compared to what a single Talent would give.

My dotabuff is: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/124376213/

Also, I seem to always have low kills compared to my assist when playing as him, is this a consequence for playing QW rather than EQ or am I mistaken in something?

Thanks for any insightful comments and tips that I may be given.

How would you go about building a q/w invoker?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 09:24 PM PDT

I want to learn invoker, and have tried a few games of q/e and I simply don't think It's the right style for me. Q/W seems to peak my intrest a bit more (I play lane harass/tempo heroes like qop, puck, OD, razor, and viper). Is the "old" style of phase-urn-drum-euls-situational still what you would build? I know Q/E is almost always preffered at higher levels but at my level, anything will work if your good enough at it.

Need some advice to get out of 2k mmr. Dotabuff inside.

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 07:45 AM PDT

Hi guys, I am a 2.2k mmr carry/mid player (mostly carry nowadays) that has peaked at 2.4k. When I play carry or mid, usually I feel like I have the highest gpm, least deaths, net worth on my team but we still lose. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Could you guys point out some flaws in my game?

Also, I feel like theres a lot of posts about getting out of 1k, but not 2k. So some general tips about 2k would be awesome. Thanks guys.

Request for Analysis of any Pattern to My Last 3 Losses (3.1k)

Posted: 27 Jun 2017 04:52 AM PDT

I'm the only support main out of anyone else that I know who plays Dota 2 thus I don't have anyone competent enough to review my games. Recently I started focusing on achieving more levels in the laning stage before going to help other lanes with ganks, this netted me about 200 MMR, but I've experienced losses in my last 3 out of 5 games and I'd like to know if there's any common theme to my mistakes in those games. https://www.dotabuff.com/players/135908537/matches
