You went to the Mists to fix the Foefire, Rytlock. Not to punch lolis in the face. The legions will hear about this!

How many character slots have you bought?

Posted: 22 Jun 2017 03:52 PM PDT

Today I dinged 80 with both my Warrior and Ranger! I recently leveled a Guardian to 80, and before that, I leveled up an Elementalist and Necromancer.

All of this within 3 months of returning to the game. I've played 1 toon, my Mesmer, since launch. I've never enjoyed making alts in other games, because I felt I had to dedicate time to each and every one of them in order to justify having them. But here, I get them to 80, I deck them out in ascended weapons and accesories, exotic armour, and have it all excel at open world play.

Then comes the real joy. I get to dress them up. I get to hunt down skins, save up money for dyes, change their hairstyles from time to time. This is my new hobby in GW2 - I can do all the "hardcore" content in the game with my Mesmer main, but alts, alts I get to level up and dress up, and they only ever have to be good at open world PvE. It's quite a lovely hobby, if I do say so myself.

I currently have 7 characters. I endeavour to have one of each profession (with mixed races and genders) + 1 bank alt. But I hear of players who have dozens of character slots, and I'm curious to hear about your stories too!

Are you a solo-only player, or do you like to have a group of characters? How much thought do you put into each and every one? Are you dictated by themes, or do you want it to look pretty? Do you put effort into it's backstory?

Also, where do you sign up for Anonymous Altoholics? Asking for a friend.

What was your first World Boss experience like?

Posted: 22 Jun 2017 01:39 PM PDT

I don't know about you guys, but I was just a wee Norn leveling away in the bitter cold when I stumbled upon a group of people. I ran over to them and before long a Svanir appeared and thus started the Frozen Maw. I was new to the game and it was sooo spectacular to be with a group of people wailing on this boss. The event was so cool and I enjoyed it so much. What was it like for you guys?

Any Converts From BDO?

Posted: 22 Jun 2017 12:08 PM PDT

I'm looking into a new MMO for myself as I've gotten pretty sick of Black Desert Online. I'm looking for something more casual and something where I can hop in and out of the game but still be competitive in PvP. That is something that is very much not the case in BDO.

Any converts from BDO have their $0.02 on the learning curve for GW2 and the main similarities/differences between the two?

Thanks mates!

Help with condi chrono pvp

Posted: 22 Jun 2017 08:23 PM PDT

I could really use some help at playing a condition Chronomancer in pvp, specifically sPvP but any pvp setting would be applicable. I seem to be utter trash with the class, with my average damage in a sPvP match being ~150k whereas on my power necro I rarely come in less than 300k.

https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Chronomancer_-_Chronophantasma_Shatter

I'm running this build, and really have no clue where to even begin criticizing my own plays. I've spent all evening trying to find guides or help, but everything that I've found is either old, seems outdated, or in Russian.

The only 1v1 kill that I have gotten all night was by accident and I don't know what I did but I melted some dude from 100 to zero in about 2 seconds, other than that I have been absolutely destroyed by everyone and everything that I've fought.

I don't know what my rotation should look like, but I've primarily been doing something like: staff 5, staff 3, staff 2, cry of frustration, wait 1 sec, mind wrack. Swap to sword/shield, sword 2, shield 4, shield 4, one of the other two shatters (not counting continuum split). By this time, my teammates have either killed whoever I was fighting, or much more likely, I've been melted.

I feel overwhelmed with trying to figure out where to begin, but I've always loved the idea of the class (was my first class at launch) and would really like to feel 1v1 capable with it and take it roaming through WvW when my guild isn't active.

Any tips would be appreciated or even links to some kind of guide or video that is still relevant that I can pour hours into watching/reading to figure this out.

Engineer leaps not working as intended?

Posted: 22 Jun 2017 03:13 AM PDT

Both engineer leap skills, Acid Bomb and Rocket Boots, have drastically lost leaping distance in comparison to other professions' leaping skills which I believe must've happened unintentionally.

> This video shows exactly what I mean <

And yes, this jump used to be possible with either engineer skill and if I remember correctly even without any swiftness. (When movement skills were still affected by swiftness)

Surely, Rocket Boots should take you farther than a Leap of Faith (Guardian greatsword), right?

I know this change doesn't have any implications on balance and maybe that's why no one has noticed or cared about it. But it does take away a great deal of fun for players like me who love to mess around with movement.

Just trying and hoping to get anyone to notice and do something about this..

Living Story question - Returning Player

Posted: 22 Jun 2017 06:42 PM PDT

Hey everyone! I stopped playing a while ago, sometime in Living Story Season 2. I had a level 80 mesmer that I loved playing, and did a decent mix of spvp (hotjoin only, unfortunately), wvw, and pve stuff. I eventually got bored of the zergy repetetive feeling I was getting from wvw and world bosses, and the general insistence on speed runs and skipping in dungeons, so I took a break.

I came back this weekend, and liked some of the updates, so i impulse bought HoT. I want to work myself into things to enjoy some small-group based content, so I'm looking at trying to catch up to the living world content. My question is this: is it worth it to do the saved instances of Living Story Season 2? Or should I just skip to current so I can be with people?
