Curie has made me feel so at home and makes me laugh when I hear her innocence. That being said some people seem weirdly attracted to her...

Why do people like Fallout 3 so much?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 11:23 AM PDT

Now, I'll preface this by saying that I think Fallout 3 is a fine game, and even though I played it after playing Fallout 1 and 2, I still enjoyed it, but seeing all the criticism of Fallout 4 shortly after I'd done another playthrough of Fallout 3 made me realize that a lot of the flaws people give Fallout 4 actually apply to 3. But 3 seems to be either liked or just considered good, but not AS good as New Vegas.

So, I'm curious as to where the common idea of 4 being bad comes from. Besides the more obvious focus on gunplay and settlements, I mean.

In Fallout, which Nuka-Cola bottle design was the best in your opinion?

I thought of this vault experiment the other day.

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 03:48 PM PDT

I recently started my second playthrough of Fallout 4, just after playing New Vegas for the first time. I realized the experiments done in the vaults in Fallout 4 were pretty vague compared to those featured in previous Fallout games. I was trying to think of a vault that would be nice to start your game in instead of Vault 111. Let me introduce you to: Vault 3.1415 (Number doesn't really matter, does it?)

First off, the backstory. Vault 007 was never to be given an all-clear signal, and it was equipped with hundreds of GECKs. Every original resident of the vault was a fertile, heterosexual male or female of young age with no partner at the time. As expected, babies were created. Only when there was already quite a batch of them did the Overseer inform them of the vault experiment: Every baby would be part of a raffle. The ones that got selected would be prepared from a very young age to leave the vault. When they turned 18, they were given a GECK and kicked out of the Vault. They were told that they had a week to use the GECK and see if life is sustainable in the Wasteland. If they didn't come back, they were considered dead. The process was to continue until it was safe to leave the vault.

Now, where the game starts. You were one of the chosen babies. Congratulations! Your parents are proud of you. Your non-selected classmates envy you. All those posters on the walls saying "Your child could be our savior!" and "The future is YOU!" can't be wrong. You're someone special. You turned 18. It's finally time. You hug your father, your mother is crying. The Overseer shakes your hand. Your friends are there. You know you might not come back, but you're optimistic. You wave your final goodbyes, and the vault door is opened. You step outside. You hear the door close behind your back. It's finally time to see if the destiny of all your loved ones relies in your hands, or in someone else's.

This turned into a fanfic, so I'm stopping. What happens next is that the Wasteland is in fact habitable. You're faced with a choice: you can inform the Vault you're alive and they can leave, or you don't. I imagine there being a settlement where previous residents of your Vault who didn't like how things worked and decided to leave them alone stayed. Maybe if you chose to not tell the Vault, there could be a random encounter where another person who was sent out recognizes you and tells the Vault, so they end up leaving anyways. If you don't have enough charisma, they don't let you in their new settlement (where the original Vault is a museum). Your parents hate you, however. So do your friends and the Overseer. In fact, everyone hates you and they only let you in their settlement because you know more abour life in the Wasteland than them, so you might help them. Now that I think about it, there could be a quest where you have to choose between allying with the previous residents I mentioned before or the ones that just left the Vault.

Anyways, that was it. What do you think?

whats the status of the brotherhood ncr war?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 12:51 PM PDT

We dont realy know to much of this war in the fallout world. The jist of what we get is that the brotherhood had the upper hand in the begining but were quickly pushed back by ncr numbers. The ncr rule the surface and the brotherhood there bunkers with ncr even launching attacks on the bunkers. Though the brother hood manage to create a economic crises by destryoing there gold reserves that backed the ncr dollar. Personaly i think things are so bad with the legion cause the ncr needs to focuse most of the man power back in california on the brotherhood. The legion mostly use mele weapons and wave attacks on guys in fortefied postions with guns. The brotherhood are a well trained well armered more advanced group.

Did I buy the wrong game?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 02:18 PM PDT

So the other day my friends were raving about the Fallout series and I thought since I've never played any of the games I'd dust off my old xbox 360 and finally see what they are talking about. I found a used copy of FO3 at my local Gamestop but also found New Vegas in the same bin. Since my friends told me to buy FO3 I did just that but now that I'm home it seems like most people are preferring New Vegas over FO3. Should I have bought that instead?

Note that I've never played any games in the series before but might pick up the other Fallout games if I like the first one.

Anyone else doesn't like the idea of real-life weapons featured in the games?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 01:31 PM PDT

i know that even the first Fo games had real-life weapons like the Desert Eagle but i hate them, especially in New Vegas, they look out of place, and they make the game look like some generic shooter. i wish all the normal (non-energy) weapons in the game were designed like the 14mm (12mm) or 10mm pistol.

Most recommended fallout game?

I've only played fallout 4, and I liked it. Then I heard it was trash compared to other fallout games. Which would you recommend me playing through this summer?

[Question] Sound in New Vegas will not work.

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 01:54 PM PDT

It works in the launcher and the menu, but It does not the minute I enter the game. I am using the steam version. Thanks in advance.

(edit) Messed up on the flair. Sorry, I'm new to this sub.

(edit 2) I think ifixed it. It was directing sound to a empty port that I don't have a cable for. Use virtual audio cable.

Any Mods for F4 that provide an alternative start?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 03:28 PM PDT

I hate the fact that the main character has a pre determined back story and motivation. I love the game other than the "find your son" and the end game with the institute. I felt so guilt tripped and that I couldn't make decisions that made sense.

My favourite ending to 'How Little We Know'.

Posted: 17 Jun 2017 04:44 PM PDT

Most of the time when I do this quest, I feel like I cannot make the right choices. Big Sal and Nero are going to try to overthrow House, with the weapons they bring in, but Cachino is also a piece of shit as we can tell from the 'Bye Bye Love' quest and his journal. I found Cachino to be the lesser of two evils So I usually side with him.

So it goes, I go up to the meting with Big Sal/Nero, Cachino gives me a gun, a taunt him about the guns, and how I killed Clanden, and then the firefight begins. I'm focusing on Nero while Cachino (and Raul/Rex) fight Sal. I blow his head off and turn to Sal. This is where my eyes widened.

Cachino is dead.

I have no clue how, as he and my companions all took on Sal, but there he was, lying on the ground.

So now there is no one suitable to run Gommorah, as I killed Clanden as well. Eventually, without a leader, the casino will fall apart, the plan won't go into action, and Cachino doesn't get away with his crimes. I walked out, smiling, to report to the Lucky 38.

About to start a new immersive play-through in Fallout 4. Should I try a "Silent Protagonist" mod?

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 03:23 PM PDT

I'm loading up on mods right now for a new play-through of Fallout 4, but I'm of two minds about one mod in particular. You see, I've already chosen one of the "expanded dialogue" mods that allow you to see the entire line that your character will say (which I'm really looking forward to), but I was wondering if I should go all the way and get a "silent protagonist" mod as well, so that the experience is closer to a FNV or F3.

The play-through I'll be doing will have an emphasis on immersion, so that's a point in favor of getting the mod. On the other hand, I'm also going to be trying a female character for the first time, and the footage I've seen makes it seem like the female voice actor for the Sole Survivor is a lot more fun than the male one.

What do all of you think? Anyone with experience trying one of these mods have a recommendation? Any other mods you might recommend?

[Fallout 4] Game keeps freezing near C.I.T. ruins

Posted: 18 Jun 2017 03:03 PM PDT

I'm on the PS4. My game keeps crashing while I'm in the vertibird during the Railroad mission "Rocket's Red Glare." Halfway through the journey, the game completely freezes--I can hear some audio, but my character is stuck mounted to the minigun. I've found some fixes for this issue for P.C. players but nothing for those on console. Has anyone encountered this before or know of a workaround?
