Meta - Can we please stop posting the "We're leaking again" posts?

These have been posted so many times that it is basically an /r/civ meme. It's not funny anymore and it's against this sub's rules.

If other's agree, I'm asking the mods to mark these posts as permanently off-topic for /r/civ.

Archery does not 'Eureka' if a Slinger Kills another Unit while Defending

Is this something that is intended? Are there any other 'Gotcha' moments you've experienced with Eurekas or Inspirations?

Before I finish a peaceful game I spend my last few turns obliterating my nemesis in nuclear hell fire

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 07:20 AM PDT

There's always that one AI that pisses me off and is a thorn in my side throughout the game. If I'm far enough ahead of them by the end of the game I like to give one last fuck you and unleash my whole nuclear arsenal on them.

My Civ 6 Diplomacy Wishlist

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 10:09 AM PDT

Just a few things I think would go a long way.

  • Let me ask/bribe civs to go to war. It's fun to have a big impact on global politics by pulling strings from behind the scenes. Also it really sucks to have multiple civs declare war on me and not be able to ask my friends/allies to help me out.
  • Increase positive modifiers for mutual friends/enemies, and increase negative modifiers for opposing friends/enemies. It's fun to see 2-3 global blocs forming around mutual friendships and enemies, and it is more interesting to pick my friends carefully to align myself with certain civs.
  • Don't let friendly civs backstab me. I get that a couple might do this because of their agendas, but the rest should act like global powers and not petty opportunists. Really takes the fun out of trying to build a lasting alliance when it can vanish on a whim.
  • Bring back the World Congress. I'm sure this is planned, but it would be great to punish an unfriendly civ without having to resort to war. Especially since I'll get branded as a warmonger if I choose that route, even by civs that hate the one I'm punishing.

[IDEA] Change how Market Economy works

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 08:15 AM PDT

I think that the existing government / policy card feels like random bonuses loosely tied with thematic names. For example Market economy only give international Bonuses. What I think should happen a major game mechanic change that will add more flavour and realism.

  • Market Economy

Lose control over all trade routes. All trade routes are automatically assigned (even moved city), in order to generate maximum gold. In addition, +5 gold for all trade routes.

Or another one

  • Democracy (government policy)

Lose control over citizen management. Automatically assigned to default. 1 Amenity is required for each 3 (instead of 2) Population, starting at a Population of 3.

Of course this shouldn't happen for all policy/card, but there should be few major ones that really give a distinct realistic flavor like this.

Question.

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 07:38 PM PDT

My first game in a while, going for culture, Gilgamesh decided to move a bunch of war carts and Sun Tzu to my borders in the classical era when we were friendly. It's now the industrial era and he still hasn't moved them. I'm small on military but I'm using industrial units. Not to mention, he's Gilgamesh, and we're allied as well as friends. Will he surprise war bumfuck me?

When will the Summer Patch come out?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 06:01 PM PDT

So we all know Civ 6 isn't perfect, that Firaxis is working on new civs...but nothing on the release date. When do you think they'll release the summer patch so civ 6 can be even better?

Civ leaking in r/worldnews

What do you guys like listening to while playing Civ?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 10:19 AM PDT

For me, it was podcasts. But now that my current one is done I don't know what to listen to. So I guess my question is, what is your favorite shows, podcasts, playlists, anything, to listen to while playing civ for a long period of time?

Thanks :]

I need a favor!

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 07:46 PM PDT

I'm fresh out of college and I have job interview coming up on friday but all my clothing is pretty much just casual wear. I need something nicer to wear for it but I'm flat-broke.

I have a steam gift-copy of Civilzation: VI that I was going to play but obviously getting these clothes are more important than playing a game.

I was hoping someone coiuld give me $20-30 paypal for it, I'll go first and everything. I'm really desperate.

Idiot's guide to Firetuner (Civ6)

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 07:45 PM PDT

Hi all,

I'm trying to use Firetuner to tweak a map in my 2nd game ever, and running into a brick wall, because I can't understand the directions I found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/5a84y6/how_to_get_the_tuner_working_in_civ6_workaround/

As you can probably guess, I'm not very tech-savvy, and I'm doing something wrong with the syntax when I follow this step:

"Paste the following, replacing <Type> with the name of the panel; e.g. Map, City, etc: for k,v in pairs(include("Tuner<Type>Panel")) do print (k,v) end"

I really suck at understanding code, so I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me exactly what to type in here without any extra ()s or ""s. This is what I've been putting in to the text box on the Lua Console page: include("Tuner<Map>Panel") do print (k,v) end

And I get a message saying "Gamecore_Tuner: nil nil

I then go to the map panel, right click to edit, and check gamecore_tuner, and check the box for Gamecore_tuner, I get the error message: "Error in OnSelection" Runtime error:[ string "return function(selection)7: attempt to index a nil value, and everything goes into red text.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong (fyi I already enabled the tuner in the .ini and the menu), and in the absence of a working IGE, really want to be able to tweak maps with this thing. So if anyone could tell me what to do exactly, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks much!

[Question] Are there any good videos on youtube giving a little bit of info about the civilizations that appear on the civ games?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 07:38 PM PDT

I love learning about history stuff, and I love Civ V, but I'd love to have more insight about the history behind all those great civilizations, since, I know like half of them, but I'd love either getting more info about the ones I already know (most of them western civs) or learning about all those great civs that I didn't knew they existed, for example The Iroquis or The Byzantine Empire, etc.

TL;DR: I'd like to learn more about the civilizations that appear on Civ V, are there any good videos about it?

Oils district adjacency have more utility?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 03:50 AM PDT

What if adjacent districts provided their city with a unique buff specific to that district combo? Perhaps, building an industrial zone adjacent to an Encampment reduces the production time of industrial and later units? Or even building a commercial hub adjacent to an Encampment reduces the cost of purchasing units in that city. I think adding this extra layer to districts could enhance the city planning aspect of the game even further.

Some possibilities:

Encampment+harbor= faster naval combat unit training

Commercial hub+theater square= cheaper GWAM patronage

Neighborhood+comm hub/industrial zone= civilian units are cheaper/faster to produce

Bonuses of the same type don't stack

EDIT: the title should read "Could." I have no earthly idea how I fucked it up so much as to correct it to "Oils"

Have you ever been nuked?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 06:40 AM PDT

I've only played Civilization 3 and 5, albeit heavily, but I've never thought the AI uses nukes since I've never been hit by one m. Granted, all my Civ 3 games were on chieftain, and on Civ 5 I play on prince difficulty, and usually reach nukes first and then force the nuclear proliferation thing on everyone, but even in other games I don't see AI using nukes neither on me or on each other.

So, what gives?

How do I stop population growth in civ 6?

Posted: 19 Jun 2017 05:40 PM PDT

In civ 5 at least with the expansions and dlcs there was a lock option on citizen growth that prevented anymore new citizens from coming in, where is this feature in civ 6?
