Hooray 7.06 changes

Posted: 15 May 2017 06:57 AM PDT

Some really good stuff in here:

Legion Commander * Duel Scepter now additionally grants Spell Immunity to your hero during Duel

Queen of Pain * Level 25 Talent from No Shadow Strike cooldown to 550 AoE Shadow Strike

Windranger * Level 20 Talents are now: Windrun grants invisibility // +120 Powershot Damage * Level 25 Talents are now: +30% Cooldown Reduction // +150 Attack Range

I'm liking this.

Biggest winners of 7.06?

Posted: 15 May 2017 10:46 AM PDT

With lane domination and camp stacking back on the menu, plus all the other changes this patch, what heroes do you expect to rise in usage? My early pick would be Batrider, with both the offlane and jungle changes encouraging him to be picked more. What do you guys think?

Are teams going to pick a lot of Lane dominators and strong laning supports now?

Posted: 15 May 2017 09:08 AM PDT

I was trying to analyze these changes and it feels like team are going to draft support heroes that can bully enemy offlaners out of the lane in order to insure the 30% deny xp for the safe lane carry and the supports( pulling gives you less xp and gold now) also.

The deny buff and the neutral nerfs might also give incentive for teams to draft lane dominating heroes.

Who buys Atos now?

Posted: 15 May 2017 09:38 AM PDT

Per the update:

Old:

Requires: 2x Staff of Wizardry (2000) 1x Vitality Booster (1100) Total: 3100

Provides: +30 Intelligence +350 Health

New:

Requires: 1x Staff of Wizardry (1000) 2x Bracer (980) Recipe (1100) Total: 3080

Provides:
+20 Intelligence
+15 Strength
+6 Agility +6 Damage

Seems like a much easier buildup, and possibly an item you might like on STR heros now with the double bracer.

Anti-mage 7.06

Posted: 15 May 2017 09:51 AM PDT

I read the patch notes and instantly played a ranked game with AM and double downed mmr. Is it just me or is anti-mage very OP this patch due to the jungle changes in conjunction with his good attack animation to get all the denies and last hits in lane.

If they try to pressure or gank me, the level advantage from the denies allowed us to win fights pretty easily. In fairness, my treant support did a really good job pressuring the enemy offlaner out of the lane early.

So how bad is the nerf to Alchemist's gold gain with Greevil's Greed?

Posted: 15 May 2017 11:27 AM PDT

It seems pretty severe just reading about it but I'm not entirely sure.

Biggest Support winners in 7.06?

Posted: 15 May 2017 11:43 AM PDT

I've started spamming lion a few days ago to big success only for this patch to drop on us. From his 30s respawn talent being changed to +75 range (which seems really crappy to me, am I wrong about this?), and changes to items like urn I'm not sure if I'm gonna have the same impact in games.

Which supports got the most out of the patch do you think?

Bane's new aghs seems insane, especially with his lvl25 talent but not really suited to a support Bane

Dazzle's aghs seems great against heroes like magnus/enigma etc

Wyvern is a little stronger and seems fun but I don't trust myself to play her without getting reported

How useful is Bristleback's new 10% spell lifesteal (Lv 20)?

Posted: 15 May 2017 12:54 PM PDT

I've always enjoyed stomping with BB because my MMR is low enough that an enemy SE isn't a guarantee. What do higher caliber players think of his new talent? It seems useful crowd control when octarine is a difficult buy.

Please, explain the new Solar Crest vs Evasion?

Posted: 15 May 2017 12:49 PM PDT

Hi guys!

Tried to test here by myself a hero vs a PA and I could not figure it out.

Lets say for example, solar crest used on a PA with level 1 evasion (20%).

It does give 25% true strike to me and my team when PA has the debuff? It makes PA lose 25% evasion? It is 20% PA evasion - 25% of 20%, so PA evasion is reduced to 15%?

I really could not figure this out.

Sounds weird to me that gives 25% true strike and if I miss the system will decide another to see if was evasion or not!?

Debuff tool tip also was broken when I tried, so I really have no idea.

Thank you very much guys!!!!

Theorycrafting: Diffusal + Satanic on Troll Warlord

Posted: 15 May 2017 06:55 AM PDT

I've been having a lot of fun playing Troll Warlord after seeing him in the Kiev Majors, and I've been theorycrafting an alternative build to the standard of: phase -> vlads -> S&Y -> BKB. I've been playing around with a hero calculator and came up with something of a different path: phase -> ring of aquilas -> morbid mask -> diffusal -> satanic. Both of these builds cost approx 11,000 gold.

Here's the rationale behind the diffusal + satanic build: troll does not have much of a built-in damage steroid (such as crits) to hit hard, but he gets incredibly fast attack speed. This makes on-hit effects (such as mana burn) extremely potent on him. He also has problems sticking to his target, which makes the diffusal slow extremely useful. Of course, diffusal lacks the survivability of S&Y, which means that you'll want to take an item to tank up after diffusal. Satanic provides lots of HP and amazing lifesteal, which Troll makes great use of. If the numbers of the hero calculator are accurate, the diffusal + satanic build offers equal EHP, better lifesteal, and significantly higher DPS than the traditional build (40-50% higher in my simulation). The potentially huge tradeoff is the lack of BKB, which is typically a core item on TW.

I haven't had a chance to play this build in game, but it seems like it would be very strong in situations where the enemy team lacks CC and you can get away with a delayed BKB, when you want mana burn (against WK, slark, or Medusa), or when you need a purge (against an omniknight).

What do you all think? Is this build viable?

What's the point of Enchant Remnant?

Posted: 15 May 2017 12:59 PM PDT

In case you don't know, that's Earth Spirit's Scepter. He does better lategame with other items like Veil or even utility shit like Vlad's and AC, why would he pick up this item ever after the range nerfs on it?

Like seriously - the range on this thing is ridiculously bad.

Looking for tips on how to scale late game as Slardar?

Posted: 15 May 2017 09:01 AM PDT

I played a game yesterday where our team comp was:

  • safelane: Weaver Ogre
  • Mid: SF
  • Jungle: Blood Seeker
  • solo offlane: Slardar (me)

I had a pretty solid early game, but our safelane was struggling and our jungler was really struggling with some connection issues/lag as well as getting a lot of pressure put on him.

My initiation felt great, I was pretty solid for solo pick offs, but in team fights I'd basically blink in crush on a few of their heroes, maybe get one person, and then we'd be totally overwhelmed and I'd get deleted by their PA/LC/Life Stealer.

My team asked me to go a more damage build rather than a utility slardar, even asking me to build MKB to deal with their PA who was starting to get out of hand. at around 35 min I had tranquils, blink, echo, MKB, and had started building AC before things got too out of hand and ended up losing around the hour mark with me never managing to finish my AC.

My question is, is there a viable damage/core/late game build for Slardar? Or were we just too outmatched lategame. When my team asked me to go a more core build I felt lost and didn't really know what to do, as for the last few weeks I've mostly played support or roaming heroes.

What items would you buy on Techies to use his right click talent on lvl 25?

Posted: 15 May 2017 08:22 AM PDT

After getting arcane boots and souls rings that are mandatory, I don't know in what order I would buy items to build a techies using his normal attack.
Obviously he needs attack speed more than dmg, so I would see Bloodthorn in the build, together with hurricane pike. I struggle to see what the item build would be, because building orchid or dragon lance on techies before his level 25 would be sub optimal.
Thoughts?

Thoughts on new (or, rather, the old) Silencer Aghs

Posted: 15 May 2017 08:51 AM PDT

Preface: Silencer is my most played hero (118 games), mostly as a support.

Before they introduced talents, Silencer aghs was not worth picking up because a single stack of curse was a waste: it could easily be purged off with spell immunity or dispelled (along with the silence) which made it a waste, it was really only effective against supports who didn't have this ability. The slow wasn't that effective.

When talents were introduced, the level 25 talent - increased slow percentage - it suddenly made it quite a good late game pickup. It was sort of like a Centaur ult: you could render your opponents unable to chase because of how slow they were. In some cases, it would bait out 5-second BKBs leaving those cores vulnerable afterwards. It was also good against cores who don't want to pickup purge or BKB (at least in pubs) as it made them easier to kite. If you got another curse on top of them, the stacking was very damaging.

In other words, it was a solid late game pickup for support Silencer.

With the new aghs, it's very much a focus on core Silencer. Yes, in a late game scenario, Silencer can transition towards a damage-dealing right-clicker, but now he's very much pigeonholed him and it's somewhat disappointing.

Looking for tips of legion vs troll in the mid-late game.

Posted: 15 May 2017 05:36 AM PDT

4.5k I win offlame no matter what, its a legion commander. The thing is, after that, I find myself useless in games with a troll. No matter who I duel, the troll will runup and kill me. Bashes me I dont even kill who i am dueling. Dueling him usualy means I die for the same reason, bashes. Blademail does pretty good but he ends up really tanky. Any tip for this matchup?

New LC Agha

Posted: 15 May 2017 09:13 AM PDT

I believe its extremely imba now.

U just cast it on anybody who cant 1v1 you (which is probably 2 supporters + offlaner + some mids) and u take out 1 hero 100%. dagger + agha is not such a big investment. im gonna try it out as soon as patch hits but i think its amazing now

How do i have a better early/mid game impact as invoker?

Posted: 15 May 2017 01:59 AM PDT

I know invoker is a slow start up hero but whenever the enemy team pressures the lane i can't help to be impactful unlike active heroes such as ember.

We got bodied in this game https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3176373581

But there are also times when my team can hold out longer and i get to play invoker as best as i could: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3052868741
