Why nerf Seaweed Salad and not condi foods? Condi was already reigning supreme over power in PvE.

Posted: 16 May 2017 10:02 AM PDT

gonna quote myself from a previous thread:

Some napkin math:

While it's true statwise that veggie pizza is valued at around 370, those points do not scale in the same way that power stats do. 70 condition damage is a (roughly) ~2.18% increase to condi dps, and 20% duration is a 11.11% increase (or more). The reason these foods end up being close in overall gain is because of how little condi damage there is in a power build and how much unavoidable power damage there is in a condi build (in general).

This means veggie pizza is currently around a 10-11% dps increase (once you factor in power damage) while SwS is at most a 10% but every power build does SOME form of condi dps (not to mention the effort in movement upkeep).

If veggie pizza becomes 10% duration 70 condi, it'll be worth 220 points and add around 6% dps. If it became 100 exp 70 condi, it's around a 4.4-4.8% increase (closer to all other power foods).

If they really want to nerf these two foods they could either do:

SwS: 6% (~230-240 stats), Veggie Pizza 10% 70condi (220 stats)

SwS: 5% (~190-200 stats), Veggie Pizza 100exp 70condi (170 stats)

Condi builds would lose around 3.5-4.5% dps (super napkin math). Power builds would be around ~4.0-4.5%

Edit: Now that I think about it, if SwS is going to be worth 190-200 power, why not change SwS to just give +200 power instead of a 10%? Would make it look a little more consistent with other foods imo.

tl;dr: Power builds just took a ~4.0-4.5% dps hit, condi builds still have anomalous food. Why update for consistency when you're going to ignore the other broken food in the process?

Why does store in wardrobe not give a transmutation charge?

Posted: 16 May 2017 01:35 PM PDT

Anet....pls.

If I store the item shouldn't I get a transmutation charge so its first application to character is free? What's the reasoning for it essentially destroying the skin?

Condi Elementalist 37,3k realistic DPS

Posted: 16 May 2017 04:29 PM PDT

Hey Guys!

After the latest changes to ele and especially Arcane Power I wanted to try a new condi build. After some testing I figured that the previous build was still stronger and so I tried to improve the rotation and damage numbers. The result can be seen here.

Build can be found here. This is not optimal and can be min-maxed a little bit more (little bit over 100% condi duration and no infusions). For buffs I went with the qT standard.

This Epidemic Change is Either Bugged or Unfair to Necromancer Players

Posted: 16 May 2017 10:35 AM PDT

TL:DR; Refer to number points in body of post.

Now before you dive right in and say "you're just unhappy that it isn't an instant application to surrounding targets" let me explain.

Currently, Epidemic sends out arcing projectiles (that follow the desired target) toward up to 5 surrounding targets. However, there are two caveats to this:

  1. A single target can be hit by multiple projectiles from epidemic

  2. A single target is only affected by a single application of Epidemic from an Epidemic Projectile

Please refer to this GIF to illustrate my point: link

(Note that of the four golems shown, only the epidemic target and one of the other golems are ticking for condition damage after epidemic has been cast.

This is extremely unfair to Necromancers both in a team environment and solo environment in PvE, and rarely PvP. Suppose you are fighting a group of enemies, and you're using greatsword. You want to make use of Grasping Darkness to pull them all into a bunch to improve the effects of your aoe damage, and then throw epidemic into the mix. Your projectiles all now hit whatever single enemy was considered closest to your initial target, it only gets a the one copy of their conditions, and your dps compared to before has now been drastically reduced.

In summary, the application speed of epidemic in its projectile form is fine; it rewards dodging the application of the conditions that skilled players could pull off. But punishing otherwise rewarding strategies in the form of stacking up opponents is baffling to me.

EDIT: As of part 3 of the patch the body blocking "mechanic" of epidemic is still there, even when other bugged aspects of epidemic were addressed, so it seems this change is intentional.

ArenaNet doesn't seem to know how might works on phantasms

Posted: 16 May 2017 10:18 AM PDT

The new instant effect of spawning the illusionary swordsman spreads might to phantasms on hit, but the power level of phantasms is at all times the same as the player's so this is completely redundant and confusing.

They changed medium legendary armour on Charr

Posted: 16 May 2017 10:19 AM PDT

They removed the entire back section so the tail wouldn't clip. Tail textures have also been updated to match the scales on the skirt and look on-par with light/heavy tails.

Also, the skirt seems to stretch less with your weapons drawn, so the textures are cleaner and you look less bloated-looking. (That might just be me tbh)

Example of old armor for comparison.

[LOD] 5man Deimos

Posted: 16 May 2017 12:13 PM PDT

Hey guys, after seeing the 6 man Deimos done by King and NA we wondered if it was possible to drop another person and do 5 man, and it was.

Ather - Chrono - PoV

Bailey - Rev -PoV

Chu - PS - No PoV

David - Condi Engi - No PoV

Ted - Druid - PoV

  • Our chrono ran chaos trait line so that we had protection, mainly for the 50% when there is 4 dark sauls all hiting you
  • The magi rev tanked Deimos during the 50% and 25% ports that way chrono could give buffs in the shadow realm
  • Yes this does look a bit messy it was our 3rd pull of the night
  • In total we spent about 3.5 hours working on this
  • Credit to Paul also, he worked with us for about 3hrs the first night but was unable to play the second night so we got Chu

Request: Somebody benchmark 5 condi eles in the same subgroup running Arcane Power.

Posted: 16 May 2017 12:18 PM PDT

With the new change to Arcane Power, it grants the stacks to up to 5 allies as well. This doesn't change much for regular teammates, as all they get is 5 crits and some ferocity (not bad, but still). HOWEVER, 5 condi eles, all running Elemental Surge changes the skill into something completely different.

Quick vid explanation if you need it: https://youtu.be/gpBvM-d3cGs

Not sure if this is going to end up being good enough to run consistently, but I would like to see the results :)

I found the descendants of some GW1 henchmen in Rurikton and it made me giddy

Posted: 16 May 2017 04:13 AM PDT

If you were an old school GW1 player you probably used to rely on henchmen for your party (before heroes were introduced) and may have some fond memories with them.

Although their last names weren't always shown in game, they are listed on the GW1 wiki as well as some official publications.

Aquila Elek is descended from Orion Elek. Talk to him, he's inherited all the cocky narcissism from Orion.

Kenden Baruch is descended from Stefan the Fighter. Still taking orders.

Lyren Sandor is from Reyna "Eagle Eye". Yup, still a ranger.

Aleria is from Alessia. I think she became a guardian now.

Thanks Anet for this tidbit of nostalgia. For the longest time I thought all the GW1 NPCs were merely mentioned in graveyards through out the human lands. Good to see some of our GW1 friends flourish.

Axe PS - 25 Might on Self

Posted: 16 May 2017 06:57 PM PDT

Disclaimer: This is not a DPS test -- I merely tested it to see if it was possible to hit 25 Might with the build as compared to GS for Power PS.

Video here.

With the recent buff to Eviscerate/Decapitate applying Might, tried to hit 25 sustainable Might stacks for it.

Build here.

Hitting 25 stacks of Might and sustaining it was relatively easy with both Fried Golden Dumplings and Sigil of Strength ; Sigil of Strength is a must to keep up 25 stacks else it caps at around 18-19 on self. Fried Golden Dumplings may probably be substituted but I was never able to sustain 25 without it.

Keep in mind that I'm using myself to judge how long my Might lasts. PS has higher duration compared to Eviscerate/Decapitate(10s vs. 8.5s in my case) but lower duration compared to Sigil of Might(10s vs. 16.5s).
