[In 4 Hours] [NA] De_Carry Playtest + Community Night 10-mans

Posted: 16 May 2017 02:30 PM PDT

Note to non NA players: We have separate weekly AU/NZ and EU events that occurred earlier this evening. You may participate in this event if you wish, but for the sake of fairness, NA players will have priority in joining games during this event.

Community Night

It's time for the official CS:GO Reddit Community Night and playtesting!! Community Night + Playtesting is a weekly Tuesday evening event in which we play 5v5 games(10mans not scrims) with other redditors on our own 128-tick servers with competitive settings on classic maps (i.e. Active Group and older competitive maps). The night will last for a few hours, so feel free to drop in whenever you're free!

When Is It?

The NA event begins four hours from this thread being posted. Community Night and Playtesting begin at the time specified below, converted to the major NA timezones for your convenience:

Pacific Mountain Central Eastern
6:30 PM 7:30 PM 8:30 PM 9:30 PM

If you would like weekly alerts for the start of our events, feel free to join the Community Night Steam Group! Announcements are made at the minute the event starts, so you won't miss a thing.

How do I join?

To join, simply connect to our TeamSpeak3 server and hop in the Community Night lobby to get put into a game by an admin. Here are the server details:

Server Address: ts.redditcsgo.com

Note: When connecting, please include your rank at the beginning of your name like so: "MGE-Jpon9".

De_Carry Playtesting

Information about playtesting

We are inviting everyone to join us in a play testing session for De_Carry (workshop)!

How do I participate?

The details are identical to those found above for Community Night -- join the same TeamSpeak server and include your rank at the beginning of your name. Playtesting happens concurrently with Community Night, so just hop in at some point in the night after Community Night begins and we'll get you hooked up with a game!

If you would like to be notified when the playtest starts you can join our Playtesting Steam Group.

After you have played a game or two on the map, please submit your feedback in the previously posted AU/NZ event thread in the form of a comment! Be detailed and constructive :)

To map makers

We are taking applications for playtesting your competitive maps.
If you are interested in submitting your map complete this form

Special thanks to for generously donating servers for the Reddit Community Nights and Playtesting.

Help Wanted: Moderator Application Thread (Round 8)

Posted: 16 May 2017 03:55 PM PDT

Hello, /r/GlobalOffenders! This is the eighth round of public mod recruitment. The previous seven threads for this can be found here: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6 and Round 7. We have a great team of mods that have stuck with the subreddit for a long time. However, due to either a lack of time or loss of interest, a few have had to step down. We'd like to thank all those that have contributed to the subreddit and kept it clean and running. Due to the ever increasing popularity of the subreddit, we must once again ask for more help to ensure the subreddit stays up to standard!

Moderating a large subreddit is not an easy task. The information below should help you form your application and aid you in deciding whether or not you would like to help If you are interested in becoming a moderator, please keep reading.

Feel free to ask us any questions in the comments. However, we will not comment on your chances during the application process, either in public or in private.

What does a moderator do?

A moderator is just a regular redditor like you except they volunteer to perform a few humble duties within the community. Moderators are required to actively browse the subreddit and respond to reported threads and comments, removing those that break the subreddit or site rules. Note that "actively" typically means for multiple hours a day. While we don't have any specific minimum activity requirements, we will not keep moderators around that do not have the time to contribute. That being said, most mod actions can be done via multitasking and do not require your complete attention.

Moderators...

  • are extremely familiar with the subreddit rules, Reddit's rules, reddiquette, and moddiquette.
  • regularly check the front page of /r/GlobalOffensive and make sure all threads are within the rules.
  • moderate /r/GlobalOffensive/new and remove rule-breaking threads.
  • browse comments and remove ones that break the rules.
  • respond to user inquiries about removals and decisions.
  • ensure that reported threads are responded to, keeping modqueue clear.
  • participate in mod discussions and contribute their thoughts and ideas.
  • represent the best the community has to offer.
  • generally work as a team, not as individuals.
  • act and behave in a professional and mature manner.

Moderators do not...

  • make unilateral decisions when it comes to removals and making policy changes.
  • use the position as a platform for projecting your opinions, either by posting them in an official setting or removing things contrary to your beliefs.
  • use the position for monetary gain.
  • engage in any behavior that may otherwise break moddiquette.
  • promote the spread of drama.

Who are you looking for

We're looking for people who are...

  • able to do all of the above.
  • active, patient, helpful, and kind.
  • mature, regardless of age.
  • attentive to detail.
  • fluent in English and/or can speak their mind in an appropriate, comprehensive manner (in English).
  • experienced Redditors or other forum participants.
  • often online and typically available.
  • in different timezones as we do have gaps where we have less moderators online.

We are not looking for people who are...

  • egotistical.
  • known trolls.
  • frequent violators of the rules.
  • power-moderators looking for another sub to add to their list.
  • strictly low-effort posters.
  • in a position to potentially have a conflict of interest.

Am I eligible to apply?

Anyone can apply! And for the record, we will not disregard or immediately approve applications based on...

  • Amount of time spent playing Counter-Strike.
  • Popularity in the community or lack thereof.
  • Knowledge of the competitive Counter-Strike scene or lack thereof.
  • Experience in moderating or lack thereof.

Public figures will likely be rejected due to potential conflicts of interest. Do not apply if you feel this may be an issue. If you feel there is no conflict of interest and you would like to apply, feel free!

How to apply

To apply, you must fill out this Google Doc application form. All responses will be kept 100% private within the mod team.

Apply Here

We will only be accepting applications via this google doc form, comments or modmails will not be accepted.

The application deadline is 5 days from the time this thread is posted, 9:00AM UTC Monday 22nd May, at which point the form will be closed and applying will not be possible.

How Applications Will Be Reviewed

Each application will be reviewed by multiple moderators to ensure fair review. Because of this, it could take us a few weeks to review all applications depending on how many we get. Once all applications have been reviewed, the status of your application will be PM'd to you.

The Trial Period

If accepted, you will be put through a four week trial period. The trial period is mostly to ease you into the position without overwhelming you. For the first two weeks, you'll be trained in the basics of moderating -- evaluating threads/comments, flairing threads, and interacting with the rest of the team. For the latter two weeks, you'll be introduced to modmail. At the end of the trial period, you'll be evaluated and potentially be given the offer to join the full mod team if we feel you did well.

GLHF and thank you for expressing interest in joining our mod team. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions, we will answer as best we can. Edited from /u/Jpon9's template.

ESIC Integrity survey on cheating & match fixing regulations

Posted: 16 May 2017 10:02 AM PDT

There has been a lot of discussion and controversy on the topic of integrity in esports and how to best approach it from a rules & sanctions point of view. Although opinions on how to approach the topic of bans/punishment for cheaters & matchfixers might differ, one thing is definite: we as an industry need to create a clear and consistent rulework to govern the topic.

ESIC ( http://www.esportsintegrity.com/ ) have been leading the way to try and create such rules and guidelines across esports and they are looking to get YOUR opinion on a variety of topics that are regularly discussed on this subreddit.

The survey should only take a couple of minutes to fill out and is anonymous. You can check it out & participate here:

Get your ELEAGUE Clash for Cash: The Rematch tickets! And stuff!

Posted: 16 May 2017 01:22 PM PDT

https://www.facebook.com/events/1074497436015698/

Hi everyone,

The ticketing site for the Rematch will go live in the next day or so. As with all events in our studio (the ELEAGUE G FUEL Arena), there will be no cost, and it will be first come first served. HOWEVER, we're going to block off a bunch of seats for people that attend the event linked to above at the Battle and Brew in Atlanta on Tuesday May 23rd in the evening. I wanted to let you all know about it first.

If you come along, wear your team jersey and answer a few questions into camera for us (why are they the best, etc), we'll guarantee your ticket and also enter you into a prizedraw for an ELEAGUE Maxonomic chair (the ones we use for all our events).

We'll then make pieces with the footage that may end up on broadcast, so it's an opportunity to get on TV, if such a thing is of interest to you. At the very least, you'll end up on our social feeds.

I hope we get some Reddit representation at this event, so please come down if you can!

Also if you want to ask anything at all about the event and I know the answer, you can throw it in here and I'll respond.

Thanks!
