| Why I found comfort in Nick Valentine Posted: 04 May 2017 12:29 PM PDT When I first played Fallout 4 back when it came out, I assumed it was gonna be just like 3 and New Vegas, I always travelled alone. So, as I was playing thru and looking for this...Nick Valentine, I thought oh it's just gonna be some generic npc.... When I saw that synth light up a cigarette and start making jokes....I couldn't believe it...I was reminded of my grandfather... My grandfather passed in 09 from COPD, he stopped taking it his meds because he didn't want us to see him in pain, I was unfortunately I'm summer school during his last moments, but my grandma said his last words were that he loved me.... My grandfather was one of the wisest and kindest ment to walk the Earth. He could rally the most broken and scared men and women, and get them back on their feet just by smiling. He always made time for me and my sister, he was so loving, teaching us that even the most wicked of people have good in them. Back to Nick I had Nick travel with me, and just all the wise crack jokes, the good nature, and his sympathy were all just reminders to me of who my grandfather was. He even carried a revolver just like he did and now I carry it for work.My grandfather was a Security Officer and now I am. I never traded Nick for anyone, because I felt so safe with him, it felt like I finally goto talk to my grandpa again, and still today I tear up.... I never thought I would become so attached to a fallout character, but I'm glad it was Nick. [link] [comments] |
| Made a Fallout 4 themed postcard, what do you think? Posted: 04 May 2017 12:29 AM PDT Created this little thing in adobe Illustrator. Fairly happy how it turned out, all expect the logo and the "Welcome Home" text was made from scratch EDIT: Nice to see you think this is cool EDIT2: People interested in high quality version of this image (for printing or something), please PM me and I will give you a link to it! I only ask that you don't repost this image anywhere [link] [comments] |
| My Fallout 3 R91 Assault Rifle IRL Build Posted: 03 May 2017 10:24 PM PDT Finally got the finishing touches on my R91 Replica :) I took a PTR-91 GI and replaced all of the furniture with original HK wood pieces. Hard as hell to find but well worth it. Tell me what you think! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 04 May 2017 01:25 PM PDT So I own a cocktail bar and I'm planning a themed 20 year bday party in September. I'm an award winning cocktail bartender, the drinks are covered. I have a house band currently learning all the soundtrack and I am looking at fallout playing graphic designers for the branding and promo for lore friendly My questions are these..... What has to be involved in this? What, as fallout fanatics, would you expect to see? What things would your bring from the early titles that the true fans will get but are missing from the new titles. I am planning on the entry fee coming with bottle caps, to claim drinks. My bar is an underground cocktail bar so I am considering a follow the railroad type marketing campaign. I want cosplay central and the bar staff will represent a different part of the game. My issue is that I've not done much other than a little new Vegas and a whole heap of fallout 4. I don't care how detailed or eloquent your responses, I just want to hear your expectations that I can go away and work on. Any and all comments are greatly appreciated. Edit: the birthday party is fallout 20th bday, I'm not arranging it for someone's 20th birthday Edit 2: there will also be a magician dress as oswald the outrageous. We have a band playing the soundtrack Edit 3: I'm sure I had a notification about someone wanting to see an eye bot flying around, I can't seen to see the comment now though. In response, I do actually have a couple of friends into their Drone flying, and they have more friends, maybe I can look at this. Even for a small period [link] [comments] |
| I am a NPC Protectionist. How do I enjoy Survival Mode? Posted: 04 May 2017 06:57 AM PDT I've really been interested in starting a Survival playthrough. But i have a terrible problem where i CANNOT let NPCs die. Especially named Settlers. Whenever i see a battle i must make sure an NPC hasn't been killed, i must save them. Whenever i HEAR gunfire, i have to investigate in-case an NPC is getting hurt. Now i could let it go sometimes. For example, i wouldn't exactly mind if Art dies out in the wasteland. But unique Settlers? No chance. Since I'd be doing a Minuteman Playthrough, i want as many unique settlers as possible to make settlements a bit less boring. After all, settlements are actually important in Survival mode. How can i enjoy Survival if I'm the type of person who reloads the game when an NPC dies? I feel like Survival is meant for "selfish" characters who only want to survive the game. Making a Minuteman playthrough almost emotionally impossible. As a PS4 user, i can download a mod that let's me save anywhere, and just reload a save when an NPC dies like i usually do. But won't this kill the tension of the difficulty? (Before someone says that NPCs dying just adds to the realism: "You can't save em all"... This is a Bethesda game. It doesn't matter how safe i make a settlement, those low level settlers will die eventually to the 105th Settlement attack) [link] [comments] |

| I think I have a problem. I'm running out of shelf room. Posted: 03 May 2017 05:25 PM PDT http://imgur.com/RsN89ff. This is my collection so far. Very proud of it. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 04 May 2017 08:22 AM PDT I know they're waaaay different from the current Fallouts but they still look really good. Also, Fallout 2 has some pretty incredible reviews. I think I remember reading somewhere that combat is turn based? That's pretty cool. Since my PC is having some trouble getting itself together I don't have a working GPU at the moment so a low-stress game like this would be perfect for me [link] [comments] |
| [Xbox] is there a performance mod for the area around diamond city and goodneighbor? Posted: 04 May 2017 08:29 AM PDT I have a few performance mods already and they work spectacularly, but the areas around diamond city and goodneighbor are still a nightmare. The FPS drops significantly and is even worse when it's raining (which is 75% of the time for some reason.) is there a specific mod to help fix this area? [link] [comments] |

| Nuka-World Scavenger in diamond city Posted: 04 May 2017 02:52 PM PDT There is a side mission where one of the raider gangs asks you to kill scavenger in diamond city, well, I travelled there only to find out he is stuck in the stands (can't see him though) and is unreachable, helllllpppp! | Posted: 04 May 2017 02:40 PM PDT Is that there are some Noir like quests that let you really investigate things without any hand holding or quest markers pointing you where to go. [link] [comments] |
| New Vegas Ultimate Edition DLC question Posted: 04 May 2017 10:50 AM PDT So two weeks ago I started my first play through of New Vegas. I bought New Vegas through the Xbox store (I am on the Xbox one). I was loving every minute of it and heard that the DLC's were great so I decided to get Dead Money and Honest Hearts to start me off. My friend then told me that I could have just gotten the Ultimate Edition and get all of the DLC's for less than two DLC's through the downloadable content. Is it possible to still get the Ultimate Edition and keep my progress in both the main sorry and the DLC's I have already purchased? tl;dr - get Ultimate Edition NV and keep current progress? | Can someone explain that weird glitch when you're walking or swimming? Posted: 04 May 2017 01:06 PM PDT It was in Skyrim too, it looks like something is swimming in the water with you. It's probably supposed to be attached to your player. Why does it happen? [link] [comments] |
| Does anyone else find it hard to get back into Fallout 4? Posted: 04 May 2017 12:44 PM PDT So I originally beat the game when it first originally came out and didn't see why the hate was coming from every direction for this game. I obviously saw the issues it had and it clearly wasn't a perfect game but I still enjoyed it being a fan of FO3 and New Vegas. I put around 50 hours into my first playthrough. Played it again immediately for another playthrough for another 70 hours. After all these playthroughs I know I still haven't even come close to doing anything since I haven't played any of the DLC. I just got a new PC that runs this game 10x better so I wanted to get back into it and try the new survival mode. I downloaded a lot of mods but not too many that it completely changes the game. After less than 5 hours into I just can't keep playing it. The game doesn't have anything that makes me want to keep coming back to it. Everytime I see a cool reddit post I think I should start playing again and try these new things but whenever I start it up, I immediately die because survival may just be too hard for me and stop playing. I was wondering if anyone had the same thing for them and had any recommendations to make another playthrough a little bit more satisfying for me. I may play New Vegas again or even go back to Fallout 3 since I haven't played in ages and never played it with mods. Just wondering what you guys think. [link] [comments] |
| So, Fallout 4 happened. What about the future? Posted: 04 May 2017 01:19 AM PDT Please remember, this is ALL my personal opinion It's been roughly two years since Fallout 4 came out. It was a mixed bag of good and bad. But what made it good and bad, and what should be taken from it for the next game? I've been thinking about this lately, and wanted to make a post listing some of my thoughts. Please note these are my personal opinions. Long post, only read if you have time on your hands. Good Things About Fallout 4
You may not like it, but it worked well. Being able to assemble settlements, almost like an immersive Fallout Shelter. Having the experience of being a part of the reformation of the Commonwealth in more ways than just 'shooting the baddies'. However - it was overused. Ideally, settlements should take a backseat to actual towns containing people and potential quests unrelated to the main quest.
Of course, they aren't perfect. But the style that Bethesda used for the game worked so well, and isn't it great to walk around a high definition wasteland rather than the yellow-tinted Capital Wasteland, or the orange-tinted Mojave?
Now, this wasn't all good. There are plenty of things this messed up. But it's definitely nice to have the option. I say what they should do is; (A) Make it so the player can turn of voice acting for the roleplayers and (B) Spend more time recording lines. More on this in the problems with Fallout 4.
Say what you will about the fusion core system, power armour is suppose to be, well, just that; power armour! It's meant to feel like you could crush mirelurks with your fists in this stuff! And painting? Modding? All amazing! And good job on the balancing I'd say. Bad things about Fallout 4
Four voice options per engagement? Seriously? Obviously I understand in order to have a reasonable amount of voice lines for the actors to record they needed to cut down on spoken dialogue, but this practically kills the roleplaying aspect that Fallout is known for! There should be voice lines for every kind of person, and voice options leading to most possible choices in any engagement. They should bring back the old voice menu system, with a scroll through menu displaying most or all of what the character is going to say. Some of the options in fallout 4 are very misleading due to the short nature of their display, leading players to make decisions in voice they wouldn't have made if they knew the whole line.
There are plenty of good weapons and armour in the game, but I feel like there should be more. Personal preferences would include the return of the Chinese Assault Rifle, for one thing. Now, I will give them this; They managed to integrate a pretty interesting armour piece system, and it's good for diversity. But I'll always prefer the overall system found in the previous games for myself.
I can't understand the removal of the karma system. Sure, Fallout 4 likes to bend our perception of good and evil; but I feel like players should always have that constant reminder that they're doing good deeds (or bad) during the game. They should probably bring it back in Fallout 5, probably further on the New Vegas side (less overly important than Fallout 3, but still there).
There needs to be more diversity of endings! In order to get a peaceful ending in F4, you need to go through a very specific set of rules in order to not wipe out an entire nother faction and erase all their side quests. There needs to be more options for the ending, and your actions throughout the game in each quest need to affect the ending more than just making some companions dislike you. This ties back into the voice lines problem, and it takes away some of that roleplaying element that made the games famous.
The old perk system was boss! So many options for characters, because of the diversity of the number based perks. I'm thinking a return to the old Fallout 3 system, where perks increase percentage chance (however keep the magazine format for pickable perks) Things I think should be in the next game
They need to focus on making the game an RPG with shooter portions, not the other way around. You need to feel like YOU are there, YOU are affecting the lives of these people. That every decision you make was entirely YOUR choice. Again, it's what made the games epic and it's sad that Fallout 4 didn't have as much of it.
It works well guys, keep it! Power armour should be more than just a thing you wear without thinking about it, it should be part of your gameplay at all times!
As I said before, keep the magazine but bring back the menu with the certain amount of perk points to spend per level up. And make their influence on the game like fallout 3, the higher the perk the more chance you'll get to carry out tasks (rather than Fallout NV's 'have a certain amount' system).
Still in the game, but much less pronounced. So that people who don't like it can avoid it, and people that do can enjoy it! Finally, what I would personally like in the next Fallout story-wise (very long, and just ideas)
Remember when Fallout 3 came out, and you could stand beside your glorious brothers in a pair of glistening power armour - knowing that you are fighting for justice and freedom with your brothers beside you. Fighting for the people of the wasteland. Fallout 4 has brought back many memories of Fallout 3, in it's references to the game and it's lore and mechanics borrowed from it. But it also gave us the sad tale of what happened to the once mighty Eastern Brotherhood after the end of the game. Once one of the few Brotherhood sects focused on the betterment of mankind, the death of Sarah Lyons brought an end to the golden age of the Capital Wasteland. Arthur Maxson took over, bringing about a reign of terror - enacting such horrors as forcefully taking a fusion plant from a 'certain aircraft carrier' to power his ego-bloating airship. But, when will be get a game about the reformation of the brotherhood? What I want in a future fallout game is a questline, main or not, about making the brotherhood what it once was. Will that mean a return to the Capital Wasteland, in the future (technologically and story-wise) of the area? Maybe, maybe not. It would still be cool though. Restoring the Brotherhood from the fear mongers, demanding tribute from peaceful farmers and killing anyone not quite human along the way (no matter their sentience) - and making it into what it once was. A symbol of hope in the wastes. Knights in Shining Armour fighting off the hordes of evil.
Anchorage was epic. Most people who've played it would agree. And the Great War is a practical bounty of awesome stories and combat sequences. We definitely need more of it, perhaps in simulations in a brotherhood quest or other - or maybe even a dlc or small game based entirely in the Great War. And that's about it! If you've managed to read this far, then feel free to give me your ideas about this topic. I'm interested to see what others think about it. [link] [comments] |
| Is it a blasphemy thinking Fallout New Vegas was not the best Fallout? Posted: 04 May 2017 10:55 AM PDT Everyone here who praises Fallout 3 or 4 get instant downvotes. Every YouTube rank video puts New Vegas on the top, and all of the comments agree. Everyone that criticizes New Vegas on a single point is put into interrogation. It gets even to the point where you make a list putting Fallout 4 or 3 ONE POSITION ahead New Vegas and someone go and comment: "Why??! What you are trying to say putting New Vegas below this Bethesda's games?", or "could you elaborate on why putting New Vegas bellow 4 or 3? I don't understand it". We never see these types of things with Fallout 4 fans. They don't force you to have a discussion about why Fallout 4 or 3 don't suck. I enjoyed New Vegas for a bit, but the environment gets me bored and I can't play it for a long time like Fallout 4, 2 or 3. And I don't like facing invisible walls every 5 minutes or getting stuck on rocks everytime. And for me, I completely agree with this one about the story: The whole, "Oh, you got blown away, but miraculously not killed, by some gangster, for some reason and now you have to hunt him down, and blah blah blah," felt kind of tropey and dumb. The story sucks. So, Fallout: New Vegas became a religion on Fallout community. Luckily for us 4 and 3 fans, Obsidian will never touch a Fallout game anymore, while New Vegas elitists will have to play the same broken game for years with a lots of mods to compensate for Obsidian's failure on developing a playable game even with a whole engine ready for them to just apply, and shout at the internet on how "Bethesda is evil, Obsidian are the good guys and Fallout 4 and 3 fans are idiots because they like a type of game".
