True Dota 2 - What happened to Underlord?

What happened to Underlord?

Posted: 04 May 2017 09:53 AM PDT

Remember when he used to be first-phase for a few weeks? He was great, then he got some aura nerfs, and -3(?) armour and he just disappeared? Is his early game that bad now?

What happened he was a fun hero imo and could be build many ways.

How and why did Omniknight become an offlane hero?

Posted: 04 May 2017 05:07 AM PDT

I know it's partly due to the pro meta, but what would make you say "I'm going Omni offlane, it's a great idea" ? Thanks.

What heroes do you think need people to start theorycrafting?

Posted: 04 May 2017 09:51 AM PDT

What heroes do you think a new build needs to be thought up for? Such as the "New" Lycan build? Or when people made the Gyro Aghs build.

Heroes where you think have potential but people are still trying to play them in an outdated way?

Personally my big two are Viper, Bloodseeker and Underlord, (remember Underlord, I do). Like I said I don't know what a new build could be since I'm not a creative guy but does anyone have ideas?

Spam-clicking to move in Dota 2 vs. Brood War

Posted: 04 May 2017 03:33 PM PDT

I was watching a Day9 video from last year in which he talks about pathfinding in Brood War and the intricacies it brings to the game. I noticed he said something about spam clicking that really opened my eyes to how I play these RTS games:

https://youtu.be/rWvoMrYCQBU?t=1068

That link should take you to where the discussion begins, but the actual point is made around 19:30.

The tl;dr is that in Brood War, the pathfinding sort of sucks. So players spam right-clicks essentially in order to make the pathfinding better. This was amazing to learn for me because Brood War was my first RTS game, and I sort of habitually learned to spam right-clicks when moving to make sure my units didn't go crazy at a choke point.

So here's my question: should I not be spamming right-click to move in Dota? To my knowledge, the pathfinding, though it has its quirks, is not nearly as bad as Brood War's was. And I've noticed on multiple occasions that I'd be spamming right-click in a certain point, but my hero can't really decide whether to go left or right around a tree so it keeps turning until it dies. (Probably because in reality I'm spam clicking slightly different points and I'm clicking near the border of whether the unit will go left or right.)

Should I just be clicking once, then just crossing my fingers when running away? It just feels so unnatural to me when I've learned through Brood War that spamming right-clicks = getting where you want to go faster.

Teach me offlane Morphling

Posted: 04 May 2017 02:42 PM PDT

I've been trying to learn offlane Morphling as I really like him played in this position. I'm good during teamfights, but I don't understand how to lane him. What's the skill build? Starting items? Item progression? Can you transition into a core later (shotgun/right click)? And how viable is he overall?

What is the average gold lost on death and average gold earned per kill?

Posted: 03 May 2017 08:14 PM PDT

Can someone please explain. I know you can buy out before death but do you still lose some gold depending on your unreliable? Also whats the average assuming someoen doesn't buy out. Is there a limit?

Is an early Solar Crest viable on Legion Commander?

Posted: 04 May 2017 09:58 AM PDT

Would it be reasonable to situationally pick up a Solar Crest on Legion after Blink, perhaps in place of or before Blademail? It seems as though it would be more effective in a variety of situations, such as being easier to secure kills on a support during the midgame when they don't do much damage, whereas Blademail focuses more on being able to return the higher amount of damage that cores do.

I realise that it wouldn't scale as well, and would most likely have to be replaced eventually in a six-slotted build, but I feel as though delaying another item some is a fair trade for the increased snowballing potential that this already very strong item provides.

Mkb vs Bfly vs Daedelus

Posted: 03 May 2017 11:46 PM PDT

The situation was 2 agi vs 2 agi right clicker and each team bought one item then a game deciding 5v5 battle occured with no time to change items. No vision of what enemy bought and can't divine because bb is available. Is it better to buy mkb, bfly, or daedelus?

I just had a game where this basically happened. My team went daedelus + bfly vs mkb + daedelus, and we barely won, but it left me wondering what the optimal strategy is if theres an even chance for any of those 3 items.

Question about Lone Druid fighting build

Posted: 03 May 2017 11:51 PM PDT

Does the build still relevant in the game? I mean, in 2k bracket I never see this hero anymore, but last time I played it, I still feel he's still the same as he was, I rush midas first then I go phase boots and the other items.

So is it still good using that build or radiance build is better now?

Itemizing Ember Post-Magic Amp Nerf

Posted: 03 May 2017 05:43 PM PDT

I used to play a ton of Ember pre 7.0 (so almost always travels/BF with more of a split pushing focus) but took a long break around the time 7.0 got released. I've been picking it back up and trying to experiment with full magic, full physical, and some hybrid sort of builds. To those that have been playing it a lot post 7.0:

-Are you still building veil every game even after the magic amp nerf?
-Do you ever skip the magic amp talent and opt for damage?
-Is battlefury build legitimately bad or is it just too slow to come online? I tried it out once and felt ok for split pushing but I felt like maybe a maelstrom would have been as good
-When you do feel like building more for physical damage what's the typical buildup look like?
