[News] Update 14 PTS and Morrowind Closed Beta: The NDA and You!

Posted: 17 Apr 2017 07:59 AM PDT

Hello everyone!

Today we've been surprised with the fact that the Morrowind PTS will be making an appearance on the Public Test Server! Before we get into what that means you can test, it's important to note a few things.

NDA:

The entirety of the closed Morrowind beta is under NDA, this means you cannot post screenshots or videos of Morrowind-related content on the PTS anywhere and that includes this subreddit. During PTS play your screen will be watermarked with your e-mail and so it is clear who the screenshot came from. Posting anything like this will result in the post being immediately removed, a subreddit ban and possible exclusion from the Morrowind PTS.

Please abide by the NDA, if you post anything from the Morrowind Closed Beta it will be removed. We welcome discussion on Update 14 here however. If you are unsure, please post in the official forums.

Further to this, we have added a new report option; "Violation of NDA". If you see anything that violates the testing NDA please report it as soon as possible so we can remove it.

What is being tested?

On the PTS this time around is Update 14, the base-game update to ESO including bug fixes and class balance changes among other things. This is testable by everyone with the PTS downloaded and is under NDA.

Also on the PTS is Morrowind, the first Chapter for The Elder Scrolls Online including the new Warden class, Battlegrounds, a new Trial and much more. This is a closed beta and only able to be tested by invited players. The first wave of invites will be sent out via e-mail when the PTS goes up however if you did not get an invite do not worry! New invites are being sent out each week so keep an eye on your inbox!

Where can I give feedback?

If you are testing the Update 14 base game update, you can give your feedback in the Public Test Server forums. If you are part of the Morrowind Closed Beta, you can give your feedback in the private Morrowind Closed Beta forums.

With that out of the way, we hope you have a great testing period and if you were lucky enough to receive an invite to the Morrowind Closed Beta that you test thoroughly and give plenty of feedback.

UPDATE 21st April 2017: Zenimax have partially lifted the NDA on the PTS.

As of right now, we are partially lifting the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) specifically for the balance changes made to the four existing classes. This means you'll be allowed to talk publicly outside of this forum area about the changes for the four existing classes and how they affect your character on the PTS in different scenarios, including how your characters perform in the new Battlegrounds and Trial.

Please note that the NDA still applies to any content in the Morrowind Chapter such as Vvardenfell, the Warden class, Battlegrounds, and Halls of Fabrication. For the latter two, it's fine to discuss how your characters perform in them for the sake of class performance and balance discussions, but please refrain from divulging details about the Battlegrounds and Trial. If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask.

This means we can and will allow U14 discussion on this subreddit however the NDA still applies to all Morrowind content.

UPDATE 28th May 2017: Zenimax have given some content creators permission to post videos from the Morrowind PTS, including videos of the Warden class and a few others. If you see a video and are unsure feel free to report it however.

[Guide] Where to find the Blueprint: Breton Throne, Ruler's

Posted: 01 May 2017 09:15 AM PDT

Just a quick follow-up to my guide on Where to find the Blueprint: Wood Elf Throne, Vine, I wanted to share a fairly painless way to farm the Blueprint: Breton Throne, Ruler's. You can see what this item looks like HERE.

Getting Started

Head to Wayrest, and when you exit the Wayshrine, you want to mosey on down to the Mage's Guild. There are (4) Nobles that spawn in this area, as seen HERE. (Nobles are denoted by yellow stars, and guards are denoted by red stars. Their patrol paths are marked in red.)

  • 1.) This Noble is sitting at a picnic bench overlooking the water. There is a single guard that patrols this area. Easily avoidable.

  • 2.) This Noble is standing next to a sign, behind the Mage's Guild. There is a single guard that slowly patrols counter-clockwise around the building. Easily avoidable.

  • 3.) This Noble is standing along the outside wall of the castle in close proximity to another NPC (commoner). She will periodically walk further down the wall. I would recommend killing the commoner first, so that you have less risk of being observed whilst committing your scandalous activities. There is a guard that patrols in the nearby area, that shouldn't pose a threat, unless you have incurred a bounty and happen to cross his path.

  • 4.) This Noble is standing on the bridge, staring vacantly into the distance. This is the simplest of the four, and the only issue that you should face with her, is failing at pickpocketing.

NOTES

  • As always, pickpocket twice, and then perforate your target's heart with your trusty Blade of Woe.

  • If you find yourself in trouble with the guards, such that they are chasing you with the intent to skewer you, then head towards the first location and jump over the wall into the water below. The guards aren't paid enough to deal with that level of shenanigans, and will not follow you.

  • If you find that you are completing the circuit faster than the Nobles are respawning, then you can also find a Mage between #4 and the Mage's Guild, which can be looted for other goodies, and two drunkards down by the right hand corner of the map, which can be looted for Mugs, Tankards, and Liquor Bottles.

If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up. Otherwise, happy hunting!

EDIT: To the anonymous jeweler, thank you kindly for the Gold!

[Guide] Where to find the Blueprint: Wood Elf Throne, Vine

Posted: 01 May 2017 07:03 AM PDT

I have seen quite a few questions being asked online on various forums, as to how or where to find the blueprint for the Wood Elf Throne, Vine. You can see what this throne looks like HERE. Obviously some people know, and I've even seen a couple of instances of people trying to sell the "secret." Guess what folks, the cat's out of the bag! For those of you who are interested in getting your grubby paws on this Legendary Blueprint, here you go:

Spawn Point Inside The Tree

  • Head to Elden Root, where you are going to look for Dirdelas, a Wood Elf Noble, who just so happens to be one of your targets in the Litany of Blood. Being that he's tied to a quest, he will respawn immediately, after you get done playing stick the Blade of Woe in the Wood Elf. As far as I can tell, he has a whopping two spawn points.

  • The first spawn point is inside the ground level of the tree, as seen HERE.

  • After spawning, he walks out of the main doors from upstairs, and walks clockwise towards the Achievement Furnisher, where he sits down and loiters for a minute with a Priestess. There is a guard that patrols this immediate area

  • He then continues walking clockwise past the Shrines, and heads out of the tree, towards the Great Tree Stables. As you exit the tree, there will be a guard on the immediate left, and another a short distance down on the right. These two guards patrol away from the tree, and back again.

  • He seems to be heading straight down the path, however he will veer off the path to the right, for a sip of puddle water, (filthy Bosmer...) as seen HERE.

  • Once he's slaked his thirst, he continues towards the Great Tree Stables, which he passes on the left, before heading to the water's edge for a bit of fishing. There's a single guard that patrols between the stables and the Outside Inn. He will also stop for a short while down near the water, near where Dirdelas is fishing

NOTES

  • There are plenty of chances for the 1st & 2nd pickpocket attempts.

  • The best opportunity for using your Blade of Woe unseen, is when he stops to fish.

Spawn Point at The Outside Inn

  • There are two ways that Dirdelas spawns at The Outside Inn. If he does not walk outside, then you can enter and you will find him loitering inside. You can pickpocket and kill him inside the inn, however this will result in a 1K-2K bounty. If/when he leaves the inn, he will disappear and will generally respawn inside the tree. If you choose to pickpocket inside of the inn, then the next time he respawns, he will most likely be empty, and you will have to kill him anyways.

  • When he spawns and walks out of The Outside Inn, he will follow the route as seen HERE. There is a single guard that patrols between the inn and the stable.

1. ) Solid Line - He walks down the ramp and to the right, where he purchases a refreshing beverage.

2.) Dashed Line - He takes said refreshing beverage back up the ramp, where he loiters for a minute or two listening to a bit of music.

3.) Dotted Line - He walks down the ramp and heads to the left to pet a horse. He then heads back up the path towards the Wayshrine.

NOTES

  • There are plenty of opportunities on the 1st and 2nd paths, to complete the 1st & 2nd pickpocket attempts.

  • The best opportunity for using your Blade of Woe unseen, is around the middle of the path between the road and the tree. Keep an eye on the guards though, as you do run the risk of falling in sync with their set patrol. If this happens, wait until you go up the steps back into the tree, and you will have a short window before he heads to the left towards the Elden Tree Armory.

I tried to make this as clear as possible, however you can leave questions in the comments, and I'll get back to you. I'm also working on a guide for acquiring the Breton Throne, which is not quite as tedious as this grind.

Now get out there, and happy hunting!

EDIT: To the anonymous jeweler, thank you kindly for my first Gilding!

Still in love with this game

Posted: 02 May 2017 01:46 AM PDT

I just wanted to share this.

I'm not sure if other people classes ESO an old game. It has been out for a few years now, but it had a low start with mixed reviews I think. I say I think but I jumped straight in when it came out and played almost non stop. Had a few stops for other games, like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Fall Out 4 but always came back to ESO. And today, as I wait for the game to load up, even the soundtrack increases the excitement. It just transports me to Tamriel.

I am not the most experienced in the game, not by a long shot. I don't memorize most of the bosses dynamics and many of my characters weren't thought through properly. I deep in and out of PVP and there's many areas and DLCs I didn't explore completely or spent too much time on. I go with the flow, enjoying the environment, the challenges, the different sceneries, the music (oh my god, love the music) . I'm still a casual gamer. Almost 40. With a serious life and family that needs attention. But most nights I get an hour or so after the little one is in bed and the wife is happy doing something else.

I am still in love with the game. Most of my game has been in the EU server. Though recently I started fresh with a new character in the NA server to play with a friend that just started.

Anyone in the same boat?

Pirate build

Posted: 01 May 2017 06:40 PM PDT

Hey guys. Been playing some ESO again and did a random dungeon. Got my favorite one, the pirates of the carribean rip off lol. All jokes aside it got me wondering if anyone has made a cool pirate build ? Is there any polymorph that's like the skeleton? I know there's the draugr but that's not the same. Also can you still buy pirate costumes? Any insight would be appreciated. I'm thinking nightblade would be best for class ?

2nd Weapon Templar Healer

Posted: 02 May 2017 02:17 AM PDT

So I'm about to hit 15 and unlock my second bar. I've been of course using a resto staff with a slotted destruction staff skill for leveling that skill line.

Is there a typical element (fire, ice, lightning) that is best suited for healing role?

Champion level worthless in Morrowind?

Posted: 02 May 2017 12:25 AM PDT

I know that champion points are decent on live, but I keep hearing that cp will get big nerfs in Morrowind. Does that mean that cps will be worthless to farm for, or are they still good?

What race/class should I start with?

Posted: 02 May 2017 03:58 AM PDT

Hi all,

I was about to enter the game for the first time and thinking about creating high elf mag templar but after seeing a prominent ESO youtuber quit the game partially because of a nerf on his class of choice. I thought I'd come here for advice.

Knowing that at some point, I will eventually focus on PvP, is there a class you recommend? I usually enjoy all roles. In WoW my main is a SP and in GW2 it's a Warrior.

Thanks in advance.

How do you tell how to set prices when selling items?

Posted: 02 May 2017 03:54 AM PDT

I'm very new (lvl 17). And I have 2 purple paintings, and a purple curisas. I have no idea what price to list them at. Is there like a general rule to use based on rarity, or maybe a website that lists the selling prices. Or even an add-on that could help. ANY help could be appreciated. (i am part of a guild).

Why does everyone want cross platform?

Posted: 02 May 2017 03:52 AM PDT

So there was yet another complaint(or suggestion) for why this game should be cross platform. Now i read some interesting responses for a lot of people being for it. I am against it and i will be listing my reasons why I am against and it what i believe people who are for it want. If i made any mistakes in some my points please correct me(i want actual sources not "what reddit says").

Against it:

  • impossible to escape the constant talk of disconnects on console. While it does happen on PC, console has made it pretty clear that it is not uncommon for raids to be uncompleted because of them

  • addons - while not impossible for them to come to console, if they don't either PC will have an advantage or ZOS will remove the addon capacity for PC players

  • dlc delays - now im sure most of us are familiar PC gets the dlc's first in most cases. The idea of waiting for something that is ready to be released because Sony and Microsoft have this game at the back of the line compared to their new games really sounds like a pain in the ass. (they have to go through each patch and dlc to verify if its safe/whatever before it can go live. This can take forever) I dont want to have to deal with this if i dont have too.

  • Social - bit on the wire about this one. By social im talking more about mics. While i enjoy using discord to talk to my friends, the idea of /zone having voice chat gives me the shivers. While im sure there is a way to manage it, i don't want pandora's box to be opened.

  • only 1 can join: This is more about the hypothetical idea of say only Microsoft lets Xbox ESO join PC ESO server and not Sony. What about PS4 ESO? Will it become the norm for people to only buy xbox or pc and not ps4 as the player base will never be as large as the other 2. While i dont see much of an issue with xbox and ps4 joining together, Sony has made it clear it will never happen. I just feel if either of the 2 join PC, the other 1 will suffer.

  • hardware limitations - from what i understand some trials arent completable from hardware limitations so if true yeah....(i may be wrong on this one, maybe its servers, bugs, or something else but i've heard hardware issues for a while now)

  • Time - do you really want them to spend the time making this happen when they can spend the same time on making dlc or fixing bug(as if it actually happens now)

For it:

  • more players - more thing to do and people to meet and socialize etc. Always good to have a bigger crown

  • more diverse market - more players = bigger market

  • friends - can play with friends regardless of console

  • play on console and PC with one account, all toons - self explanatory, may be a thing if it happens

i cant think of anything else right now. Also for anyone responds, do you mind starting your post with the console you play such as "PC: " so i know which version you speak for.

[Discussion] Interested in an event?

Posted: 02 May 2017 03:32 AM PDT

Hello! I was wondering if you or this community as a whole, like the idea of a dungeon crawling event to be hosted. I know group finder already exists in-game but thought this would be a more fun way to spice up the gaming experience. I was thinking I'd make it for low-ish leveled, a night where you'll know people will be online and you'll have plenty of time to find a really balanced team. Also Id' make a discord server for the occasion so communication will be easy. What do you think? Lemme know!

[Xbox] Anyone using a SSD? Thoughts?

Posted: 02 May 2017 02:51 AM PDT

I've been considering getting a SSD for my Xbox One since I've read it often improves loading times in games. Does it also improve performance/reduce stuttering? If it makes a clear difference I will be wanting to get one anyway for Battlefront 2 later this year since Battlefront 1 has been plagued by long loading screens on console for the majority of its lifespan.

Thanks!

[Xbox One] Explorers Pack availability

Posted: 02 May 2017 02:48 AM PDT

Good morning all.

I have recently got back in to EOS and pursuaded a friend of mine to also purchase and play. I would however like to play together but our preferred races and alliances are different.

I have looked in to the Explorers Pack online but it is only ever bundled with the existing game which is of course no use to me.

Are there any methods of purchasing the Explorers Pack and that alone or any other means to allow any race and any class in to any alliance?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

[Discussion] Make Hybrid sets have Arcane AND Robust jewelry.

Posted: 02 May 2017 02:45 AM PDT

There are plenty of sets intended for hybrid play, however all of those share one weakness: not being able to choose whether they are arcane or robust jewelry. This will be even more important im Morrowind, where you really have to choose which resource pool to restore to when using shards/bubbles, by making it larger than the other pool. One big risk would be builds that use hybrid sets on a singular stat build, but thats usually covered by the set bonuses 2-4 being hybrid.
