From someone who owns a 2k compendium, would it be possible to get a feature to hide my levels? Posted: 30 May 2017 02:03 AM PDT TL;DR 2k compendium owner is a little baby that can't handle trashtalk. -Begin Rant- I've had my compendium above 2k for about a month now, and sometimes i just regret it. Not because of the money I spent, but because of the amazingly ridiculous attitudes I've gotten from a majority of people. "Rich but noob", "Money but brainless", "gift me io arcana pl0x!", "wtf rich kid? Why waste money on game?" Are just some of the more common things I've gotten from the enemy team whenever they win the game. I can handle trashtalk as much as the next guy, but when it's specifically targetted at me because I supported something I enjoy, it starts to feel extremely bad. To the point I legitimately wish I could hide my compendium level. Yes I have the additional disposable income, no I never said I was better than you, and no, I will not gift you the io arcana. -End Rant- So I definitely don't expect the Dota2 community to instantly change over night. But it would be real nice If I had an option to hide my levels. -EDIT- For the people asking, it took me about 930usd to get to 2.25k compendium. -EDIT 2- Yes, I play on the SEA server. -EDIT 3- TIL, I have alot of lost brothers. A message from Erik Johnson regarding Siltbreaker delay. Posted: 30 May 2017 11:23 AM PDT Yesterday I emailed valve about our dissapointment in siltbreaker being delayed, this is the reply I got: "When you set out to build a product that has a lot of invention to it (new game design, new art concepts, new player experiences, etc.) you either have a foggy idea about what the final product is going to be, or you have a clear idea that you end up course correcting as you build it. At some point along the way you need to let people know what is coming, so you set a date. Near the end of production you've solved a bunch of problems that you didn't even know existed when you started, and you've also spent a huge amount of time trying to zero in on the hardest part to schedule, which is actually producing fun gameplay. We haven't found a good substitute for getting there other than just playing the same thing over and over again, iterating on what is working, and cutting the parts that fail to. It's really hard to guess how long this part of the process is going to take. The final part of a game project, which we're at now, is the best part. Virtually everything has been well tested, features are all mature and stable, and the high level idea on what is fun is well defined and built. What this also means is that you're unlikely to have any wasted energy if you keep working on things for a few more days. In fact, on many projects the most interesting things are built at the very end once all of the surrounding constraints have been set. We think waiting a few more days to do the work that we know will make it a lot more fun to play is a good tradeoff, but we know this is disappointing to people. Like everything, it's a trade-off, but we think it is the right one. Hopefully this is interesting for you. Let me know what you think once Siltbreaker ships and you've played it. Posted: 29 May 2017 02:57 PM PDT I reported this more than 5 months ago, posted it in the dota 2 dev forum and Valve didn't do anything about it. Maybe it will make it to the first page this time so that Valve devs see it and do something about it. All these heroes have bugs related to their relative talent trees. The bugs occur when they pick dragon lance and skill their range increasing talents. Right clicking gives them the correct attack range, but if you want to orb attack (orb auto cast is off), then the attack range is lower. Posted: 29 May 2017 12:56 PM PDT TLDR: Tournament organisers, just make Brazil x Peru to be played on SA thx bye Hi redditors, I am a Brazilian eSport lover, who has devoted a lot of his time and money to try to nurture the Brazilian eSports scene, i am pretty excited with the recent performance of SG on Major, but I believe it is time to raise some issues that are holding our scene to grow and are of easy and FAIR solution. Facts: Brazilian Results: Midas on US East server 4-8 x SA teams 10-16 x NA teams Midas on SA 9-4 x SA teams 1-0 x NA teams SG on NA 1-13 x NA teams SG on SA 11-4 x SA teams 3-0 x NA teams Here as you can see the ping really determines the results. Midas has still ok results against NA teams for playing Tier 2 tournaments, but you can see that they do have bad results against peruvian teams on NA and playing the same teams on SA they have good results. Notice SG has only won a single match out of 14 on NA and never lost a match against a North American team on SA server. Ping Ping on NA: NA : <50 Peru : 80 Brazil : 100 ~ 230 Ping on SA: Brazil : <50 Peru : 80 NA : 100 ~ 230 The ping goes from 100 to 230, usually people think that SA teams get better ping on NA than NA on SA, thus making a SA/NA/coinflip match unfair. This is not true, the ping goes higher on SA teams the more south it goes, which means teams located in São Paulo, Rio, where the high concentration of people are get higher pings (around 200) and you can get around 100 by living on the very Northeast. The opposite goes for NA, the closer to North you are the worst is the ping, so you would get the 200 being in Canada. The most interesting part is that Peruvians get same ping on SA and NA! Thus making no Sense to force Brazilians to play NA against them and having terrible ping instead of having good ping on SA and Peruvians having exactly the same ping. (col x Midas had an avg of 150 col on SA and 180 Midas on NA, sg x np had an avg of 130 of SG on NA and 170 of NP on SA). SG currently has a gaming house on the very northeast of BR to try to solve this problem, which is very expensive solution and also does not mean that the players are there all the time, so this can vary a lot. Here also I would be glad if you take your time to comment where you from and which ping you get to US East/South America. Possible Scenarios Play all games on NA servers, no matter the teams: This is the currently situation on 95% of tournaments. It is not fair at all, and not long term oriented, the quality of matches between SA x NA tend to be terrible. Play games versus Peruvian teams on SA : This would solve already a big part of the problem, taking in consideration that now most North America Qualifiers have like 50% of teams from South America. It is still far away from fair and not long term oriented, at least you get to see a bit of better matches. Play games versus NA teams on NA/SA/NA : This was adopted at The Summit. Was fun to see SG going 100% on games versus North American teams on SA server, where basically the NA teams played on the same conditions SG players have been playing for the last 7 years. It is a bit more fair, not so long term oriented but you do see better matches already. Play games versus NA teams on NA/SA/coinflip This was suggested on many tournaments but never made true. Would be a bit more fair, bit better matches than the last option. South American and North American Qualifiers, play each other on finals. This is becoming more possible now that basically 50% of the NA scene is SA, would have lots of matches that are way more fair and better quality, where both team play without any handicap and just on final its a bit unfair because you go back to the last solution. Have a South American Qualifier For sure this is the best solution on fairness, long term and game qualities. I know it is not easy to jump from current status to the best case scenario, but I would love to see we walking this ladder towards fairness, by AT LEAST playing against Peruvian teams on South America server where they get exactly the same ping (Mandy posted Screenshot from Infamous gaming house, exactly same ping) and we have a playable ping. Oh, of course there are gonna be people saying that we should be happy to be allowed to play North American qualifiers, which indeed we are, but them we go back to the two worst case scenarios:
Just to make clear, I do repeat that I am pretty happy to see how our scene has evolved and my first suggestion is that we can still play on North American servers against their teams, if we have the opportunity to play one SA match against them its really great.
