Note to non NA players: We have separate weekly AU/NZ and EU events that occurred earlier this evening. You may participate in this event if you wish, but for the sake of fairness, NA players will have priority in joining games during this event.

Community Night

It's time for the official CS:GO Reddit Community Night and playtesting!! Community Night + Playtesting is a weekly Tuesday evening event in which we play 5v5 games(10mans not scrims) with other redditors on our own 128-tick servers with competitive settings on classic maps (i.e. Active Group and older competitive maps). The night will last for a few hours, so feel free to drop in whenever you're free!

When Is It?

The NA event begins four hours from this thread being posted. Community Night and Playtesting begin at the time specified below, converted to the major NA timezones for your convenience:

6:30 PM 7:30 PM 8:30 PM 9:30 PM

If you would like weekly alerts for the start of our events, feel free to join the Community Night Steam Group! Announcements are made at the minute the event starts, so you won't miss a thing.

How do I join?

To join, simply connect to our TeamSpeak3 server and hop in the Community Night lobby to get put into a game by an admin. Here are the server details:

Playtesting happens concurrently with Community Night, so just hop in at some point in the night after Community Night begins and we'll get you hooked up with a game!

Via the CS:GO blog:

MISC

  • The CS:GO executable and DLL binaries are now digitally signed. This allows for better integration with antivirus software and for game integrity checking.
    • Mismatching signatures or running the game with the -insecure flag allows the game to load unsigned modules, but prevents connecting to VAC secure servers.
    • The Steam client will validate and enforce csgo.exe's digital signature at launch.
  • Fixed a rare case when users UI could lose Prime Account status observed by some users staying logged in across weekly maintenance time period.
  • Fixed a rare case where UI would incorrectly show a cheating conviction cooldown when a minorly disruptive cooldown was nearing its expiration.
  • Fixed mp3 music playback on Linux.

SERVER

  • Added a new command logaddress_add_http to deliver server log reliably to the specified endpoint over HTTP POST.
  • Subscribers must return HTTP 200 OK code to acknowledge buffer of log lines and advance to the next section of the log.
  • Newly added subscribers will always get the log from the very beginning, and existing subscribers can request to restart log delivery from the very beginning by returning HTTP 205 Reset Content code.
  • Subscribers can return HTTP 410 Gone code to unsubscribe from log delivery.
  • Server must be logging to disk to use this feature.

PERFECT WORLD

  • Integrated the latest version of blocked words database.
  • Updated texture of P90 | Grim for Perfect World version.

Rumor has it:

  • There's scattered reports of crashes after this update, scattered reports of console spew, and isolated reports of being unable to launch in the first place. Which fate you get appears to be a mystery

  • Additionally, users of the CS:GO SDK will be facing headaches, as they'll be presented with no tools when launching the SDK

  • Two new strings about being banned by Overwatch, and translations: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/53b8ae2a5d827a9ef62fb94fd74c1e4ee9587713

    • You can and probably should ignore the files placed in between "vaudio_miles_client.txt" and "csgo/pakxv_perfectworld_dir.txt", as that's just GameTracking being weird. It's not new stuff, as much as you might think it is.
  • Size is ~30 MB

Just because you have more kills than someone on your team, that doesn't mean you're better than them

Since advice is the running theme of the day, here's my own. Don't think that because you're top fragging you're better than your team. It's nonsensical, we have no way of tallying how many frags are impact frags and which ones helped win round yet people constantly shit on the bottom fragger or anyone else below them.
The thing that stood out for me was how many times my team mate clutched rounds but had little damage on rounds we won easily and anti-ecos. He didn't have many kills, but his 1v2 or 1v3 helped win the game in a much bigger way than the top fraggers ump 4k on the enemy teams full eco. But if the bottom fragger suggests something, he gets shit on. If he misses a shot, he's shit on. The higher ups tell him he should be thanking them for a carry.

All your team are trying, just because someone has the least kills that doesn't mean he has the least impact

The only thing you should be saying are calls of any enemy location and anything else viable for him to use but don't coach him that is the worst thing you can do.

Edit: You can tell them what they did wrong or how you would have played it after the round is over.

Edit: This has happened too often to me if you are trying to figure out what went wrong that round also do this after it is annoying/distracting.

I'm writing this as I'm watching the NiP vs Dignitas game and seriously what is NiP doing? Running through their own smokes in mid almost every round and losing 2-3 people in there. Letting the whole CT side knowing that they are executing into a site and then executing at a snails pace letting the CTs stack the site. Not checking common hiding spots and losing frags that way..

Is this really the NiP that I have supported all these years? It's heartbreaking to be a NiP fan right now. :(

Help, im red-green(deuteranopia) colorblind, and i can't play Train A Site without headache.

Hey fellow redditors, i know the colorblind mode issue has been addressed multiple times, especially by Hiko (although im not sure what type of colorblindness he has). I've tried fiddling with my BenQ color options, a vibrance changer so on and so forth. Sadly on de_train, the "red" train(5) is almost flickering for me which results in an headache. Which makes one site on de_train mostly unplayable.

I don't want to further address colorblind issues because they have been made aware multiple times.

If anyone of you has some idea or solution to this problem, please share them, i'm open minded ( ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ). Thanks for reading!

[Hitboxes] How Velocity affects "Bullet" travel in CSGO

Hey, a few weeks back someone suggested that "bullets" travel to the left or right of your crosshair when you are moving. I just invested some time in testing this, and it appears to be true.

I guess this is because of interpolation/prediction on the serverside about the users position, based on the last available information about his velocity. Meaning the effect would be double for 64tick servers, compared to 128.

You can clearly see that on clientside my crosshair is not on the head hitbox. However the "server" (hosted on client PC in this case) is predicting my position to be further in the same direction I am currently running. This predicted position, together with my viewangle is used to calculate the position of my crosshair and equals to be on his head, which is obviously incorrect.

Apparently the viewangle and the position are not synced up correctly. Maybe /u/3kliksphilip has the technical means to test this more indepth.

What happens when you flick the mouse far away 1 tick after you shot, or before you shot? This would determine what viewangle information might be used.

Also the velocity should determine how much the crosshair/bullet travels to the site, maybe you can test this with custom maplayouts?
