[Civ 6] I think start biases should be made more readily visible in the game.

Posted: 04 May 2017 04:41 PM PDT

Start biases should be made more visible as it is an important thing to consider in the civ selection process and it is a fundamental part of what makes up each civ. I have to resort to the wiki to check for start biases currently and it is pretty much entirely hidden in the game itself (maybe a design decision?). I bet some of the newer players aren't even aware of the fact that different civs have different start biases. I think it should at least be displayed in the civ information panel in the selection menu.

Orbital Layer?

Posted: 04 May 2017 04:38 PM PDT

As disappointing as Beyond Earth was, I loved the orbital layer mechanic. With the current tech tree, there wouldn't be time to take much advantage of them, but what if the tech and civic trees got extended into the near future with realistic projection of near future technologies (i.e. genetic modification, internet of things, smart materials, neural interface, etc.) This would give extend the game a bit, giving the players time to use the orbital layer.

Edit: Also, what if some wonders (Hubble Space Telescope and International Space Station) were built on tiles in the orbital layer.

Which is worse, having the Ai beat you to a wonder by one turn, or beat you to a city location by a turn?

InfoAddict for Civ VI?

Posted: 04 May 2017 11:05 AM PDT

Hey I'm just wondering if anyone has any information on the InfoAddict mod for Civ VI. It was my favorite mod in Civ V and I really hope it will soon be released for the new game. Does anyone know if it is being worked on at all and, if so, around when it should be released?

A new role for Forts and Airstrips

Posted: 04 May 2017 04:48 AM PDT

Did you know you can build Forts and Airstrips outside of your own territory? The game doesn't really go out of it's way to tell you, so it took me a while to figure that one out. But it got me thinking about whether this could be expanded upon to give us something that has been out of Civ for a long time: colonies.

Forts and Airstrips claim all adjacent unclaimed tiles when constructed

In this new role, Forts and, later, Airstrips, can be used both to push your own borders out but, more importantly, they can gain you territory in far off lands. Now you might well be thinking "Why not just build a city there?", and that's a valid point, and a valid strategy. A Fort or Airstrip though just takes a Military Engineer, who can build 2. A city also might tip your amenities over a bit. The Fort is also quick; send a Engineer up with a military unit to watch over it, and that's sorted. You won't annoy any nearby AI either by settling near them, not that we typically worry about that sort of thing. And, nothing stops you from building a city on the tile later after all.

There's some functionality for this in place already; Poland claims nearby tiles when building Forts, but only when connected to their own territory. So this could be a fairly simply change to add in. I'm no programmer so I honestly don't know.

What are the top and bottom wonders on your build list?

Posted: 04 May 2017 01:26 PM PDT

[CIV6] The wonders we pick usually say a lot about each player's gameplay style. I wonder what are the wonders fellow redditors always build, and which ones people tend to neglect.

Wonders I always build

  • Colosseum

  • Colossus

  • Great Lighthouse

  • Venetian Arsenal

  • Petra (if I get a nice desert city to place it)

  • Ruhr Valley

Wonders I never build

  • Huey Teocalli

  • Potala Palace

  • Great Library

  • Great Zimbabwe

[Civ VI] Should There Be A Digital Deluxe Upgrade?

Posted: 04 May 2017 06:45 PM PDT

Now that there is a more reasonable return on investment for the Digital Deluxe version, do you think there will be, and do you think there should be, a Digital Deluxe upgrade option for those who purchased the base version of the game?

My opinion/Full disclosure: I purchased the base version due to concerns of exactly what ended up happening, with the 4 originally promised DLC's for the most part being bare bones "we labeled it as DLC, so it counts" style affairs. As such, it's a little bit frustrating that I missed out on (what now should be) a good deal because the information to make an informed decision wasn't given at the time. No matter what happens in the end, though, I'm thankful that Firaxis is attempting to correct the blunder, and that those who bought the Digital Deluxe will at least get the value they deserve!

Civ5: Privateers' Cannot Capture Ships Guarding Embarked Units?

Posted: 04 May 2017 05:35 PM PDT

It appears privateers cannot capture enemy ships if they are stacked on top of an embarked land unit. I've reloaded and tried to capture my opponents battleship about a dozen times with no luck. Each time it just destroys the battleship and the lancer underneath remains unharmed...

Has anyone else tested this theory? If I'm right, keeping a few embarked explorers with your navy could effectively counter enemy privateers, instantly transforming them from (arguably) the best unit in the game into shitty melee frigates.
