Monday Megathread! Ask questions and share knowledge; newcomer questions encouraged!

Posted: 02 Apr 2017 07:32 PM PDT

Welcome to the latest Monday Megathread, where you the community get to ask your questions and share your knowledge.

This is an opportunity for the more experienced LoL players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes, but also can be a great place for in depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully someone can answer them!

In my head canon, Scuttlecrab is Fiddlestick's only friend

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 10:07 AM PDT

Scuttlecrab and Fiddlesticks have a long-standing agreement; Fiddlesticks is totally unable to kill Scuttlecrab in any amount of reasonable time, so he leaves his good friend alone, and in return, Scuttlecrab walks next to enemy champions and provides a bounce target for Fiddle's crow. On weekends, they hang out in the death bush and enjoy sucking down some honeyfruit smoothies together while cackling about all the noobs they pwned that week.

How many of you have been using the new client and still don't like it?

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 05:56 AM PDT

Had the new one for a couple months now, but when I launch the legacy client every now and then it always feels so much more cosy.

Mike Rufail, owner of Envy about LCS Relegations : "The internal economic impact of our promotion tournament match yesterday was huge indeed. So much more than any match in other esports. To put this into perspective, we could win 3 CSGO majors in a row and still not equal the gain or our LCS spot."

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 12:59 PM PDT

So, the owner and managing director said that even if they won 3 CS GO majors they wouldn't gain as much money than with their LCS spot. I think this is pretty impressive how much money organisations can win with League of legends competition. What do you think about this ?? https://twitter.com/hastr0/status/848970639964725248

League slang index

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 09:35 AM PDT

InSec- named for a Korean lee sin player. Flash or wardhop behind a squishy, kick him into your team.

The Shaco effect- a law that states that any mechanically complex champion on your team will be completely useless and feed, while on the enemy team they will be gods and carry their team. Aka the Yasuo complex, the Zed syndrome, the riven rule, or the Draven effect.

Olaf'd - utterly gutted and left in the gutter for a future rework. Also known as Azir'd, eve'd, or Kneecapped.

Lee syndrome - a universal law that states if you land a lee sin q, no matter what happens or how bad of an idea it is to take it, you must do it.

Tyler1 complex - an egotistical player who is typically toxic, but very skilled.

Flame horizon: outfarming your opponent by atleast 100CS

Metaslave: someone who only plays champions which are approved by challenger/LCS players to be the most efficient at their roles.

Better nerf Irelia: When multiple champions are OP but Irelia keeps getting nerfed instead for no apparent reason, but somehow it still buffs her.

Pulling an Empire: Stand in an unwarded bush channeling a max charged up Nunu ultimate without the enemy noticing.

Space Prison: When you are a very good support player but you are stuck in elo hell because of your ADC.

Tilted: being angry at something, then performing worse due to that anger, then being angry at your worse performance until it is a cycle.

Boosted: someone who does not deserve their rank, or paid somebody to carry them.

Proxy: to kill minions before they reach the outermost tower, or between towers. Usually used with Singed.

Backdoor: aka xPekeing, taking an inhibitor or even nexus while the minions are pushed out and the enemy champions aren't in their base.

Dive: 1: towerdive, kill a champion under their tower. 2: dive, to attack the back line of squishies in a team fight.

Int: intentionally dying over and over to the enemies in order to make your team lose.

Splitpush: to push a side lane by yourself.

Freeze a wave: to not push or pull a lane and keep it in the same place.

Winions: when minions secure a kill or take an objective without help from champions.

To tryndamere: to not group and team fight with your team, instead, splitpush all game.

To wildturtle: 1: steal an objective across the map with a cross-map ultimate like ezreal ultimate or jinx rocket. 2: to flash into a teamfight to get a kill, then get caught out and die.

Open mid: Korean: all 5 players on a team wait in fountain and let enemy team end game as quickly as possible. American: wait for the enemy team to drop their guard and then all in.

Shurima shuffle: to W-E-Q as Azir, but before Azir reaches the soldier, redirect him so he goes in a different direction. Used to get behind the enemy team before ulting them into your team.

Madlife hook: to predict an enemy flash or dash with thresh hook and hit them.

Soaz TP: to escape a gank by teleporting away.

Dyrus flash: flashing over the large wall near the tribush in the top lane.

Scarra ward: trying to ward tribush from the dragon pit, but failing.

The "I was in ALPHA": being in master yi q untargetability, but still being hit by an ability. Aka the Cowsep.

Vayne spotting: a game made for supports who have to support a vayne. They earn points whenever the vayne does things like tumble into the enemy team 1v5.

A dignatas or a dignatoss: throwing the game by getting into a bad baron fight.

Death bush/brush: sitting in a bush, waiting for the enemy to come near so you can kill them. The tactic employed for the surprise garen.

Gutted: nerfed to completely unviable status.

This is an incomplete list. Please comment more below and I will add them. Similarly, once I have a few more I will alphabetize them.

Please keep in mind- this is a work in progress! I haven't had time to format this, and I am woefully unaware of most of this. I made this to help people, not because I'm an expert.

Edit: I didn't think this would have to be addressed, but apparently I was wrong. So: yes, I am low elo. I was placed much lower than last season, and went on a bad losing streak. And to those complaining about the slang unknown to them, or my lack of knowledge on this subject: try to be constructive, not just critical. If it's that bad, downvote and move on. Or, if you see one that I or others have missed, comment it. I will try to get to it when I can.

Due to the group system, EU LCS has had only 156 games this split. NA LCS and LCK have had 221 games, and even EU LCS last split (with BO2) had 180 games. LPL, which will run for another 2 weeks, also already had more games than EU LCS.

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 07:29 AM PDT

Stats:

  • EU LCS 2017 Spring (BO3 with groups): 156 games

  • EU LCS 2016 Summer (BO2 without groups): 180 games (15.4% more)

  • NA LCS 2017 Spring (BO3 without groups): 221 games (41.7% more)

  • LPL 2017 Spring (which is still running and will only finish in 2 weeks; BO3 with groups, but with 12 teams): 184 games so far (18% more, growing)

  • LMS 2017 Spring (which will have another week to run but only has 8 teams in their league; BO3 without groups): 114 games so far (26% less, shrinking)

  • LCK 2017 Spring (BO3 without groups): 221 games (41.7% more)

All stats taken from: http://lol.esportswikis.com/

Any thoughts on that? Personally, I get that you can't have 500 games per split because the players would burn out, but EU LCS has now had significantly less games than every other major region except for LMS (which has less teams) for a year now, and that might make the teams miss valuable stage experience. Even last split, when EU still had BO2s (while all other major regions moved on to BO3 already), EU LCS has had more games than this split.
Especially considering that other regions have had significantly more games per split without players burning out, this is in my opinion a problematic development.

Who is this smashing EUW high elo?

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 04:33 AM PDT

https://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=sonofkasing

Seriously, those win rates are absolute filth.

Friend is currently in game with him and said he's Korean. Only Korean toplaner I could think of who might use that summoner name is Huni from their antics sharing a mouse and keyboard, but obviously he's not going to be in Europe at the moment.

Any ideas?

Edit: if you're thinking of doing the "hey that's me joke", then you'll be pleased to know that there are at least 10 people just as original as you already!

I prefer the current pace of champion releases

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 09:47 AM PDT

Tomorrow the new champion will be revealed, after around 5 months since Camille.

Personally i prefer this pace, 2-3 champions per year, much more than the previous one. It gets me more excited to see the new champions (with a champion release every 2 months im like.... oh new champion again, alright...)

Also it opens up resources for more reworks and full VGU. The past year we got 4 full reworks (Yorick, Taric, WW, Galio) with Urgot coming soon, while previously we were getting 1 or 2 per year at best. Which is crucial, especially considering how many champions in the game are in need for partial or full reworks

So the Darkin/Weapons theory may have just been confirmed

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 12:03 PM PDT

In the latest piece of lore on the universe page the character Eduard monologues about his next research projects. Notably "Those Horrible sentient weapons known as Darkin"

For anyone unfamiliar, there's a popular theory that Aatrox, a darkin, is not actually the figure that's wielding the blade, but actually the blade itself. This pretty much confirms that that is the case

This is pretty big

Guess which "x champ has a Y% winrate yet Rito does nothing" thread will make it to the front page tomorrow!

I figure it has to be one of the top 10 champs given the amount of people who decide what is OP solely based off of the daily winrates.

Why is EU the only region without a "Player of the Game?"

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 05:04 AM PDT

Every other major region has a player of the game, but EU has a player of the series. In my opinion, I like seeing an MVP for each game.

EDIT: I'm okay with some friendly banter here and there, but come on guys let's be civil. There's no need to slander EU.

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 03:08 AM PDT

My jg is mad at my team because some one ban his Shaco on Pick and ban.

He just sitting silently and not lock in anything before the pick and ban start and then someone ban his Shaco and he went mad and refused to help anyone on our team.

He told us that we should know he is shaco main because "I'm showing my smite already you blind fucktard"

What the fuck.
