| Unpopular opinion maybe: We don't need the MVP screen Posted: 19 Apr 2017 05:40 AM PDT Don't get me wrong. Heroes of the Storm is a fantastic game and it has come a long way in the past couple of years. I'm looking forward to the 2.0 release. But I feel that some improvements either weren't warranted, or went too far with what they were trying to do. The MVP screen was borrowed from Overwatch in the last year, and at least in my eyes, it's something that the game doesn't really need. The vast majority of players I have played with either vote for themselves or hit the skip button to exit the screen as quickly as possible. I understand that it was meant to recognize players for their achievements during the game, but there are other ways this could be done. Combine this with the arbitrary algorithms the game uses to choose the MVP, and we have a hot mess. I think that the medal system is a great start, but even this could use some tweaks. Currently, achievements like highest hero damage, most healing and even niche things like root or silence time are rewarded with little medals that will show on the post-game score screen and those who earn the medals are shown next to the MVP on the voting screen. This is a great idea, but then these medals simply vanish. My proposal: Keep the medals, ditch the MVP screen. Allow us to see what medals we and other players have earned on the profile screen. Perhaps earning a set amount of healing medals could unlock a new portrait or something. This will simultaneously allow us to show our accomplishments over time (by accumulating medals), personalize our screen, and declutter the post-game process. tl;dr: I like earning medals, I don't like seeing 0 votes on the MVP screen, and I'm bad at tl;dr's. Edit: Never expected this to top the sub. Lots of good ideas below, but I wanted to say something to people still responding. I don't think that forcing people to stay on the screen until they vote will fix the issue. It's a good way to add salt to the entire process. The issue isn't that people aren't voting, it's that the MVP screen itself doesn't give any meaningful info, and the code that makes the decisions doesn't make the right ones. The best ideas I've seen say let the players choose the MVP with votes rather than having the code choose the guy who solo-laned and didn't die. This is good, but shouldn't take another screen to do so. This could be done on the post-game score screen with a little tweaking, similar to LoL's Honor system. Edit2: 1,000 points, and so far only 2 comments about this being an "unpopular" opinion. I did say "maybe." Thanks for all the discussion on this, folks. :) [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 19 Apr 2017 01:12 PM PDT I play this game for fun, everytime I get a vote, it makes me feel good, when you get a vote It is maybe meaningless, but it makes me feel that someone appreciate what I did in the game. I know some people just press upvote without any thinking, but there are people like I am that do not vote for nothing. I don't vote everytime, I vote only If someone did something extraordinaryin the match, saved my life or did play that won us the game. You don't need to vote everytime, vote if you want to make people feel better, for their efforts, give them fun with your upvote. MVP screen is not perfect, it needs some improvements, sometimes player that played really well and did a lot for win not even on the MVP screen. But I like the MVP screen it makes game even more fun for me and I don't want it to be removed. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 19 Apr 2017 11:20 AM PDT So far we got Thrall-Guldan-Samuro assasin trio both iconic and Reghar as support from the Orc clans. We missin an Orc tank. Some people will scream for Grom or Garrosh but Grom is a berserker and Garrosh clearly arms warrior. We need the first Chieftain of The Horde!!! BLACKHAND !!!! [link] [comments] | ||
| The 4th tint 'D.va' of Ghost Kerrigan is added to Genji patch. Posted: 19 Apr 2017 06:55 PM PDT This is not a fanmade work!! It is officially 4th tint of Ghost Kerrigan added from Genji patch in the 2.0 Beta server but it is not visible in ingame, only can be viewed by datamined. [link] [comments] | ||

| A Twitch Feature HotS Should Steal from LoL Posted: 19 Apr 2017 09:20 AM PDT Just saw this article (https://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/twitch-riot-channel-directory-14190) Twitch and Riot are instituting two really cool features on Twitch. Soon you'll be able to sort Twitch streams based on: What rank the Streamer is currently playing at. What champ the Streamer is currently playing. Would be awesome to be able to go onto Twitch and find Grand Master streams playing Greymane, or Silver streams playing Tracer, or whatever you're looking for. Wonder if that's a feature they'll extend to other games in the future. [link] [comments] | ||
| Contrary opinion: Don't show hero level AND rankings until the game finished. Posted: 19 Apr 2017 12:25 AM PDT I see a lot of threads popping up lately to show hero level on the loadscreen. Do those discussions there, I wanna be more general: Don't show any rankings until the game has finished. Why? Because all it does is getting people to make false assumptions of/prejudging the players. For example you're in a promotion match to Plat, the game will be mixed with Gold 1 and Plat 5's. The plat players will look down on the gold players before the game even started and the gold's will prob lift up the plat players to a throne they're not at. If you have no rankings shown at all, people are "thought" to be on the same level. It's a 100% psychological thing. Dota2 has this for example, it only shows MMR at the victory-screen. So you can still rage at someone if you like, but throughout the game ppl try to play together, because everyone thinks they are evenly matched. I think this would reduce toxicity and get more teamwork into the game. What you guys think about it? EDIT: I should probably state that this is a thing for Hero League. Since the matchmaking is sooo imbalanced most of the time in Team League, the info is actually useful there. [link] [comments] | ||
| Do we need 3 different screens and "skip" buttons to finish a game? Posted: 19 Apr 2017 08:47 AM PDT Am I the only one bothered with that?
I'm confident there would be a way to just have one post-game screen with all the info (you already have the cards on the post-game screen), what you think? [link] [comments]
| Posted: 19 Apr 2017 07:10 PM PDT So i thought of Urzael while watching some youtube with Zarya gameplay and wondered why Blizzard didnt think of the idea to make a Urzael Zarya skin since both of them uses this "hand cannon" I have a little image collection with Urzael for those who doesnt know who he is :-) http://imgur.com/a/Z7t1U Well anyways i just thought it would be awesome to have some sort of crossover skin like other heroes have (: [link] [comments] | ||

| The new Brawl reward is worth less than 1/5 the old one. Posted: 19 Apr 2017 11:40 AM PDT Here's a hypothetical. You've got 0 gold, and four Loot boxes. You play the Brawl and get a Fifth loot box. Neat! Or, you have four loot boxes, and you then get 1000 gold. You can use that 1000 gold to re roll each of those four loot boxes once, so your chances of getting something good, rather than increasing by 1/5th with the extra loot box, is increased by x2! I'm sure someone else can do the math here, I think it comes out to being 1/10th the value? Although you do get 4 extra items you wouldn't get before. Gold is, in the end more flexible because you can also get heroes with it. This new loot box reward is not the way to go for people who want to play F2P. [link] [comments] | ||
| What we know so far about the next hero reveal (25th of April) Posted: 19 Apr 2017 06:31 AM PDT According to the french HotS website, the next hero is female. On the website it says "Nouvelle héroine", which is the female form of the noun "hero". A couple of months ago, Blizz mentioned that this year 2017 we will see a lot of new tanks in Heroes of the Storm. This was mentioned during a Q&A when people confronted Blizz with the lack of "real tanks" (ala ETC/Mura). So far, we have not seen many of these tanks. New map is Hanamura, from Overwatch. It will be launched with a new cinematic which will also introduce the future announced hero. In the China Q&A, the devs said they looooove Hanamura in Overwatch. Now this all speculation from my part, but I expect to see a cinematic taking place in Hanamura with a bunch of Overwatch heroes and other universe heroes. This is the same argument as for why people believe the next hero will be Hanzo. In the last Q&A from China, the dev said that the next hero is highly anticipated by the fans. While there is still hope for Kel'Thuzad, I abandoned hope a long time ago. So we have: Based on these, my guess goes to D.Va. What do you guys think? Edit: Since some prefer to point out how all of this is pure speculation and how we actually know nothing instead of joining the discussion and have fun, I am saying this here: these points are all pure speculation. | Now that I have Arthas on my Ranked screen, it became unavoidable to see how stumpy he is [images] Posted: 19 Apr 2017 01:34 AM PDT Here he is alongside Zarya. When you see them together, the first thing you notice is that the most iconic WC villain is shorter than a woman. You could think that it's Zarya who's abnormally tall, but look at proportions – she is eight heads tall, while Arthas is only seven. Eight heads is the ideal adult proportion. Then notice how oversized Arthas' arms are – they almost reach the knees. Meanwhile, the palms are bigger than his head. This makes his short legs seem even shorter. Add in oversized armor and the end result is a man with childish proportions wearing his daddy's costume. In comparison, Leoric is how menacing Arthas is supposed to look. He has correct proportions and properly sized arms and palms. Notice the different height at which Arthas' and Leoric's arms end. To me this says that no skin can save Arthas from looking silly. He needs whole new model with new, correct proportions. Edit: it seems I mapped Zarya's height a bit too high due to hair but it doesn't change anything. [link] [comments] | ||

| I'd like to see cores have armor proportional to the amount of Keeps remaining Posted: 19 Apr 2017 08:14 AM PDT Based on what I'm seeing in HGC and my own experience in the game, cores are falling way too fast. I like seeing a team make a comeback as much as the next person but I also think a comeback should consist of more than winning just a single team fight. So what if we further extend the concept of invulnerable cores by also giving them armor relative to how many keeps remain? 3 keeps is still invulnerable, 2 keeps gives the core 66 armor, and 1 keep gives the core 33 armor (50 armor for 1 remaining keep in two lane maps). All keeps taken down would, of course, mean the core health is normal. Blizz did their overhaul of resistances/vulnerabilities and refined it into the armor system some time after they added the rule of core invulnerability. With the armor system now in place I think it's worth revisiting concept of core health and further refining it for a more satisfying late game. [link] [comments] | ||
| Can we please put silenced players with other silenced players already ?? Posted: 19 Apr 2017 05:45 AM PDT I am tired of having 1 or 2 silenced players in my team. 90% of the time they are either playing a solo game, just feeding, or trolling in general. There is a reason they are silenced and they should be treated in the same way as leavers are - put them with their own kind. Now there are just ruining the experience for everyone else and wasting time. [link] [comments] | ||

| What are some outlandish hero combos you've tried with teammates? Posted: 19 Apr 2017 02:45 PM PDT A friend and I like to come up with a lot of out-of-the-ordinary ability combos between heroes and test them in QM for fun. Stuff we've tried are things like: The Aegis God Swap - Artanis does a maximum range Blade Dash + Phase Prism, if it connects, Auriel uses Crystal Aegis on Artanis before he can complete the swap, preventing him from being swapped into the enemy team and effectively zoning them away from the swapped enemy + damaging them. (The enemy hero still gets swapped, Artanis doesn't) The Mobile Turret - Hammer takes Graduating Range at 16. Stitches pulls her around the map with Helping Hand so she never has to lose her range bonus. Slimy Beam - Cast purifier beam on a target who has no escape mechanic and is near Murky. Murky Slimes them. Purifier Beam lasts 8 seconds. Murky's slow lasts 8 seconds. This ends up killing a lot of people. What are some of your fun/strange combos? [link] [comments] | ||
| Behold the Powerful new Wombo Combo in Heroes 2.0 Beta Posted: 19 Apr 2017 11:27 AM PDT You only need two heroes for this combo and you'll realistically need to be level 13. Auriel: Grabs Righteous Assault, Majestic Span, (Crystal Aegis -- optional), and Converging Force. Johanna: Grabs Eternal Retaliation, Blessed Momentum, Blessed Shield, and Subdue. (At 16, it doesn't matter too much, but you can also grab Blessed Hammer). Johanna pulls everyone together with Condemn as many times as possible while Auriel spams Sacred Sweep. If you hit three targets, Auriel has no cooldown on her q. If they try to run left or right, she pulls them back into Johanna's condemn. Johanna tries to pull as many heroes, minions, summons, mercenaries etc as possible so she can spam her Condemn over and over and over. This effectively locks down heroes while Auriel blows them up. To prove that there's no mercy in the world, you could have Genji at level 20 with X-Strike and Living Weapon. If you are able to lock down 3 targets, Genji can repeatedly cast his ultimate becoming completely invincible and doing insane AoE damage. If you have an Illidan or some other melee pleb whom you deem unworthy to lay eyes on your combo, Auriel can cast Crystal Aegis on him while she and Johanna repeatedly pull them into its range once it explodes. I haven't been able to find a team to playtest this yet, but in Try Mode, against the Vikings, Auriel's spam is one of the most fun things in HoTS right now. I suggest you give it a try, so that you too can experience the majesty. Edit: Suggested Builds are as follows: Auriel:
Johanna:
Happy Hunting, Reddit. Edit 2: Optional teammates: Butcher (Lamb to Slaughter + upgrade), Alarak (Keep the terrified enemy team in rage), Genji (X-Strike until the Crusade stops marching on or until there is no more hope), Chromie (Temporal Loop + upgrade), ETC (Mosh, duh), Lucio (Reverse Amp slow), Sonya (That's a nice wombo combo, it'd be a shame if I didn't put a crater in it), Nazeebo (Zombie walls forever, also Humongoid), Kael'Thas (Careful with this one, he'll steal all Auriel's glory with his chain bombs and Q), Kerrigan (Aoe stun, Maelstrom), Zeratul (Void prison set up), Arthas (slow enemies cry even more when they can't escape the Holy onslaught. This pleases Arthas), Gazlow (Aoe stuns), Zarya (Graviton Surge), Rehgar (more slows + aoe damage for Johanna + bloodlust which makes Johanna's cd for condemn 4 seconds long if condemn hit nobody), Malfurion (Aoe root + cdr for Johanna + Silence), Thrall (Earthquake), Sylvannas (Mind control enemies to throw more meat on the fire), Probius (slow from W + Nullgate) and Leoric (Entomb). | What's the point of being able to vote for yourself on the MVP screen? Posted: 19 Apr 2017 04:35 AM PDT I really don't understand it. What does it accomplish? You should be commending others, not yourself. Ego should be removed from the equation as much as possible. It also makes random votes feel weird because there's always the doubt that the person might be voting for themselves. Edit:You're not actually "voting", what you are doing is commending people for their skills, teamwork, etc. So it's less about voting for the one and only best, and instead complimenting whoever impressed you / you feel should be acknowledged. Fair play, not a competition. [link] [comments]
| Posted: 19 Apr 2017 11:48 AM PDT Inspired by this, this, and this. It was awesome to see outside perspective to abilities in Her'O's. I would love to see some of the abilities in Heros Of The Storm, as the only Hero I know is Johanna because I wondered if her kit was still relevant to the meta. [link] [comments] |
