We had some fun on April Fools. We're glad so many people came to play along, and happy for all those who gave us all this delicious salt.

Obviously, as you all should have figured, Halo 3 Anniversary is not happening. It was but a clever ruse. We even had /u/ske7ch343 's evil twin, u/sko7ch343 set free to rampage across the subreddit. As we speak, Ske7ch is currently rounding his twin into submission to take back over community work. God speed, Ske7ch.

We hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Let's kick off Spring 2017 with our best foot forward.

Halo 3 Anniversary Season Pass Announcement

The news doesn't stop coming:

REDMOND, WA - Following the incredible reception of today's Halo 3: Anniversary announcement, Microsoft and 343 Industries are pleased to announce the games Season Pass! Players who purchase the main Halo 3: Anniversary package will already have the main Halo 3 campaign remastered and a number of maps to enjoy in Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer. With the purchase of the Season Pass for only $39.99, players will receive even more spectacular Halo 3: Anniversary and Halo 5: Guardians content!

The first addition is access to an all-new side campaign! Halo 3: Agent of ONI follows beloved Halo 5: Guardians character Jameson Locke in new story that takes place during Halo 3. Battle across the Ark through Agent Locke's eyes, eliminating Promethean forces under the influence of the terrifying Mendicant Bias. It's a race against time to find and rescue Locke's estranged father, Sergeant Avery Johnson, from the fate that awaits him!

Halo 3: Agent of ONI was written by series mainstay Brian Reed, and will feature a new perspective on the beloved Halo 3 story and characters. Ike Amadi returns to voice Locke, with Mike Coulter's brother Bartholomew Coulter providing motion capture. After purchase of the season pass, players will be able to unlock each mission of the campaign via REQ pack purchases.

But that's not all the content players get with the Season Pass. Players will also receive the Voice of Truth REQ pack. Producer Dan Ayoub elaborates, "Following the success of the Voices of War REQ pack in the continental United States, we started looking for other voices to add. We realized there was one voice that players must have missed; Terrence Stamp!" Terrence Stamp provided the voice for the Covenant's mad leader, the Prophet of Truth, in Halo 3. Stamp has returned to provide commentary to Arena and Warzone play alike. But that's just the start for the Voice of Truth pack. "Players have been wondering why the Prophet of Truth sounds different between Halo 2 and 3. Well that's not going to be a problem for long!" Stamp has re-recorded the Halo 2 dialogue for the Prophet. Upon receiving the Voice of Truth pack, his new recordings will automatically replace the out-of-date version in Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary.

And what is a Season Pass is complete without more maps? The season pass will bring three more remastered favorites to Halo 5: Assembly, Chiron TL-34, and Boundless. A new Warzone Assault map based on the new "Charity" will also be coming. It will feature a downed Scarab as a major setpiece. "At one point, you'd be able to pilot the Scarab and battle a pilotable Pelican. But the community team decided that was too complicated so we didn't do it." said Community Manager John "Unyshek" Junyshek. "That's how much power we have."

The Season Pass will be available for pre-order soon. Halo 3: Anniversary launches September 25, 2017 exclusively for the Xbox One Scorpio.
