Adventure: Nike's Valley of Victory

SMITE Adventure: Nike's Valley of Victory (Capture the Flag)

  • Last year we experimented with new game modes like Fafnir's Wonderland and Xing Tian's Mountain. After the amazing positive reaction to these fun and unique modes we wanted to keep introducing new experiences to players that go beyond the standard modes. This is where Adventures come into play! Every 6 weeks there will be a new Adventure that players can participate in that will introduce very new any unique experiences for a limited time.

  • Our first Adventure brings Capture the Flag to SMITE in Nike's Valley of Victory. The map itself features two bases connected by caves with buffs spread around the increase you damage, movement speed, or even grant you a giant health shield to keep yourself alive while carrying the Flag. Play as either Hercules, Ymir, Anubis, Artemis, or Loki as you try to outplay your opponent and take the victory!

  • In addition to new game modes, Adventures bring other content along with it. The Adventures Vault will open with this patch and by purchasing the Victory Bundle you will obtain a ton of items and a Golden Key that will let you open the Golden Door inside the Adventures Vault. Once unlocked you will be able to select from one of two limited skins. Each new Adventure will introduce a new skin into the Golden Door and each Bundle will give you a new key to unlock more.

  • Nike's Valley of Victory Bundle

    • 15x Team Worshiper Booster
    • Music Theme
    • Banner Plant Global Emote
    • Conqueror Nike Skin
    • Gold Key
  • Adventures Vault Gold Door

    • Swashbuckler Susano
    • Guan Unicorn Guan Yu

Achievements

Kuzenbo

  • Triple Treble

    • As Kuzenbo knock up an enemy god 3 times in a single use of your Watery Grave ability.
  • Shell Reflect

    • As Kuzenbo reflect back 280 damage in a single use of your Spiked Shell ability.

Miscellaneous

In SMITE, Towers have bonus protections when there are no enemy minions in tower range. These Protections reduce the damage Towers take, making them more difficult to destroy unless a minion wave is present to assist with the push. A few gods have the ability to spawn minions of their own, removing these backdoor protections. In 4.3 we are removing the ability for god spawned minions to bring down backdoor protections. Now only lane minions will be able to take away these protections.

With this change we looked at all the gods who benefited from being able to remove these protections and either buffed them directly to compensate, or are watching their performance before we make adjustments in future patches. Bastet and Nu Wa were gods that received a direct buff to compensate for these changes, and Bakasura and Vulcan are gods we are keeping a close eye on for the future.

Items

Aura Items

"Aura items has some inconsistent effects and descriptions making what they did unclear. We have made a pass on all Aura items that provide stat adjustments to enemies and allies and made them only affect enemy and allied gods respectively. We also updated the descriptions of these items so they are consistent with each other."

  • Heartward Amulet

    • Passive now only applies to gods.
  • Pestilence

    • Passive now only applies to gods.
  • Pythagorem's Piece

    • Passive now only applies to gods.
  • Sovereignty

    • Passive now only applies to gods.
  • Void Shield

    • Passive now only applies to gods.
  • Void Stone

    • Passive now only applies to gods.
  • Ward Stone

    • Passive now only applies to gods.

Rituals

  • Frenzied Ritual

    • "Rituals have seen some great moments, but have also sometimes led teams to win fights in ways that felt unfair due to some of the powerful benefits they provided. Frenzied Rituals duration of 10 seconds allowed teams to chain multiple rituals together, leading to little or no downtime in a fight without investing too much into the strategy. We are reducing the duration to 5 seconds which will force teams who want to chain these for an extended duration to invest more of their gold."
    • Reduced Frenzied Ritual duration from 10s to 5s.
  • Rallying Ritual

    • "Rallying Ritual allows for players to take advantage of many opportunities by teleporting directly to their allies. However, the potential for players with this Ritual to quickly charge the Titan and end the game has proven to be a frustrating experience. Rallying Ritual can no longer be used on a target that is being teleported to already or a target that is currently teleporting. This ritual can still be used to get to a key location quickly for a large cost, but dropping onto the titan will require more members of your team to be near the titan to get everyone there.
    • Rallying Ritual can no longer be used on someone that is already being teleported to.
    • Rallying Ritual can no longer be used on someone that is currently teleporting.

Other

  • Bumba's Mask

    • "With Season 4 we made Bumba's Mask require a last hit to discourage teams stacking multiple Masks and receiving a large amount of sustain from it. This led to frustration in games where teammates could stop you from receiving crucial healing and gold when you needed it. We have changes how the passive works to now reward the closest Bumba's Mask wearer rather than whoever got the last hit. This should result in a less frustrating experience while still hitting our original goal."
    • Bumba's Mask no longer requires players to last hit Jungle monster to receive the passive benefit.
    • Bumba's Mask will now only apply the passive bonus health/mana/gold to the closest god with Bumba's Mask that is within assist range of a defeated jungle monster.
  • Hand of the Gods

    • Fixed the description stating this Relic did no damage to Jungle Bosses.
  • Sands of Time

    • "In 4.3 we are making changes to all of the Mage starter items and how much mana they restore. After seeing how players experimented with starter item choices it became clear that mana sustain was the highest priority for most mid laners, leading them to buy Sands of Time. Vampiric Shroud was often not considered viable because it didn't give enough return to justify being more difficult to kill in the early game and Soul Stone was ignored largely due to a lack of mana return that made using its passive difficult. Sands of Time however should continue to be the premiere Mana Regeneration starter item and to make sure it isn't overshadowed by a more powerful Soul Stone and Vampiric Shroud, it too is receiving a slight increase to the MP5 it provides."
    • Passive: Increased MP5 per stack from 1.5 to 2.
  • Soul Stone

    • Passive: Now heals 40 Mana when consuming 5 stacks.
  • Vampiric Shroud

    • Passive: Increased Mana restored from 5 to 8 per enemy killed.
  • Shield of Regrowth:

    • "Shield of Regrowth has become a powerful tool for gods with any form of self healing. When purchased, this item clearly caused many gods to suddenly jump up in overall performance. In this patch we are increasing the cost and reducing the health provided so there is more of a downside to this item and will continue to monitor how it affects builds and individual god performance."
    • Reduced Health from 300 to 200.
    • Increased cost from 2000 to 2100.

Gods

Bastet

"Bastet had a large amount of value tied to her ability to remove backdoor protections. With the change coming in 4.3 to backdoor protections, we wanted to provide Bastet with more power elsewhere. Open Wounds will now help her abilities hit harder allowing her to be a more effective assassin."

  • Open Wounds
    • Increased damage from 15% to 20%

Izanami

"Izanami is a god who previously struggled in Season 3 and then found herself in a strong position in Season 4. One of the last changes we made to her involved increasing her basic attack damage and per level scaling to better help her in the early and late game respectively. We are reverting only the base attack damage change which affects her early game to allow other hunters to have a better chance at fighting back against her level 1 wave clear."

  • General
    • Base Damage decreased from 40 to 36.

Kuzenbo

"Kuzenbo has made quite a splash on the battleground of the gods. We have gotten a ton of positive feedback on Kuzenbo's style and personality and are excited that players are enjoying him. In this patch we wanted to address some balance concerns that arose. Kuzenbo is a very aggressive Guardian who wants to be in the front line mixing things up, but he was lacking some damage and utility to make him as desirable as other guardians.

Watery Grave received a number of changes to address this. It now lasts for a shorter duration but hits harder up front and Kuzenbo can now move faster during it, allowing him to provide more burst to a fight and chase hit targets. Sumo Slam is also seeing a damage increase for when a target is pushed into a wall or through minions, and Shell Spikes can now be activated while under the effects of Crowd Control. Changes to Sumo Slam and Watery Grave should make Kuzenbo more impactful in a fight and changes to Shell Spikes will force enemy players to be more reactive."

  • General

    • Fixed Progression on the Stats page is showing as "undefined"
  • Water Bowl

    • Fixed a description error to properly convey the damage mitigation this passive provides.
  • Shell Spikes

    • Can now be activated while Kuzenbo is under the effects of Crowd Control.
  • Sumo Slam

    • Increase damage from 65/95/125/155/185 to 80/110/140/170/200.
  • Watery Grave

    • Reduced duration from 2.8s to 2.1s (One less maximum knockup.)
    • Increased first hit damage from 60/100/140/180/220 to 80/130/180/230/280.
    • Increased per tick damage from 30/50/70/90/110 to 40/65/90/110/140.
    • Increased movement speed buff from 35% to 45%.
    • Fixed an issue where Kuzenbo could be knocked up during the warm-up for this ability.

Nu Wa

"Nu Wa was another god who benefited from her ability to remove backdoor protections and is receiving a buff to compensate. She will gain additional burst and poke damage through targeted adjustments to Shining Metal."

  • Shining Metal
    • Increased Magical Power scaling from 50% to 65%.
    • Decreased Minion Explode Magical Power scaling from 30% to 25%.

Osiris

"Osiris lately hasn't been fitting his title of "Broken God of the Afterlife". While he has a strong laning phase and can box well early, his build options in the mid and late game are limited due to his low Physical Power scaling. Sickle Strike and Spirit Flail are seeing damage increases around their scaling to give Osiris a few more build options and power in the mid and late game."

  • Sickle Strike

    • Increase damage from 60/100/140/180/220 (+30% of your Physical Power) to 60/105/150/195/240 (+40% of your Physical Power).
  • Spirit Flail

    • Changed damage from 80/130/180/230/280 (+50% of your Physical Power) to 70/125/180/235/290 (+75% of your Physical Power).

Ratatoskr

"Ratatoskr has become a go-to jungler for players in Season 4. His ability to buy his Acorn out of the base combined with the new decisions available to Junglers caused him to perform even better than in Season 3. We are making a few adjustments to his abilities without hitting his damage that should give players more opportunities to play against him.

Acorn of Yggdrasil is now more expensive at the second tier which will have an impact on early game item build decisions. Dart will now only be reduced by 1 second each time a god is hit with Flurry or Acorn Blast which will give enemy players more opportunities to catch this trickster, and Through the Cosmos now has a smaller landing radius requiring Ratatoskr players to be more accurate with where they want to land."

  • Acorn of Yggdrasil

    • Increased the cost of Acorn of Swiftness from 500 to 700.
    • Acorn of Yggdrasil remains at 1600.
  • Dart

    • Decreased Cooldown Reduction from Flurry and Acorn Blast from 2s to 1s per god hit.
  • Through the Cosmos

    • Reduced landing radius from 25 to 20.

Sol

"We kept a close eye on Sol and after watching her underperform in Season 4 we began looking at ways to improve her utility and her damage outside of her Stellar Burst. This led us to look at Radiance. Radiance helps Sol in quite a few ways. It is her main source of quick heat generation and also provides her with some sustain. We are increasing her sustain at all ranks and reducing the cooldown, giving her access to this utility more often and earlier. Supernova is also seeing a damage increase to reward Sol players more when they land multiple hits."

  • Radiance

    • Fixed an issue where this wasn't proccing "On Heal" effects.
    • Decreased cooldown from 15s to 13s.
    • Changed the Healing from 5/10/15/20/25% of Missing Health to 25% of Missing Health at all ranks.
  • Supernova

    • Increased damage of successive hits from 20% to 30%.

Terra

"Terra has been underperforming after the direct nerfs, item changes, and meta shifts from Season 4. Rather than bringing back some of the power of her healing Terra will receive more of a punch in her damage potential. Monolith will now deal a flat amount of damage when Terra breaks it, giving her some extra damage when engaging an enemy team."

  • Monolith
    • Fixed an issue where Monolith could be damaged by Minions or Jungle Monsters.
    • Monolith now deals 70/100/130/170/200 (+50 of your Magical Power) immediately when broken by Force of Nature.
    • Reduced the Damage Per Tick from 15/20/25/30/35 to 10/12/14/16/18.
    • (Overall, Monolith now deals 20 more base damage over its entire duration at all ranks.)

Thoth

"Thoth initially struggled at all levels of play but with the introduction of the stun on Evade and Punish we saw Thoth see some success for players who really mastered this challenging god. To many players though, this ability had the potential to be too punishing. The ability to stun more than one target is generally reserved for abilities with conditional trigger conditions or Ultimate level abilities. Evade and Punish's projectile will now stop at the first enemy god hit, removing the ability for him to stun multiple gods."

  • Evade and Punish
    • Evade and Punish now stops on the first Enemy god hit.

  • NA Smite Console League - Spring Week 1 Discussion

Last Week Recap

Last Week's Megathread

Hirez's Articles About Last Week Thanks /u/snk8four!

In Europe

  • The most significant game of last week was found in the final EU set: Obey v NRG. Obey took good fights, got key picks, and snowballed the game in their favor twice to take the set 2-0 over the reigning World Champs - their first set loss since Super Regionals in season 2.

  • The new Dignitas squad looked strong in their set against Cyclone. They got off to a bit of a slow start, but they took game 2 quickly to take the set 2-0.

  • Valance Squadron stomped Sanguine, only giving up 4 deaths across both games with under 50 minutes of total game time.

  • Novus Orsa and eLevate had a fairly competitive set. eLevate took game 1 in fairly dominant fashion, but then Novus Orsa controlled and took game 2 to split the set.

  • In the Challenger Circuit, New Game Plus 2-0ed Deserted fairly easily, and then Thy AI (formerly Last Minute Monsters) split with Optimus Gang.

In North America

  • In Memory of Gabe took down Allegiance in the first NA set of the week. Allegiance put up some fight in game 1, but game 2 was a quick, methodical game with very few overall kills.

  • Luminosity fell behind 5k gold quickly in game 1, but they crawled their way back into the game and snagged it in the end. Game 2 was not nearly as close - with 27 kills and 2 deaths in that game, Luminosity took the set.

  • Enemy played very well against Noble with their new solo laner, Eruzies. They ran through game 1 with not a lot of contestation, an despite a fantastic performance from Wowy in game 2, they took the set.

  • Game 1 between Eager and SoaR was close early, but Eager turned up heavily in the mid and late game to win multiple consecutive teamfights. Eager then took that momentum into game 2, closing it out quickly to take the set.

  • In the Challenger's Circuit, the newly crowned SPL Gatekeepers (formerly NeilMah) split with Astral Authority. Then, the Unicorns of Hate (formerly Cope is Still the Problem and PUH Town USA) split with Quignitas (formerly 1st Rounders).

In Oceania

  • In a not very close set, the new Legacy roster stomped the PRETTY BOIZ roster in two quick games. Then, the new Avant Garde roster took out Team Noxide in two games, although neither were quite as quick.

  • The other games were unable to be aired, but the scores for this set were: Legacy 2-0 Avant Garde, PRETTY BOIZ 1-1 Daddy DayCare, and Dire Wolves 2-0 Team Noxide.

Season 4 SPL Spring Split - Week 1 Discussion and Predictions

.

Where to watch: https://twitch.tv/HirezTV - Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb 23, 25, and 26, 1pm EST/7pm CET

Week 2 of 5 of the Spring Split is about to start! This is the first week in which Thursday games will occur - 2 NA sets and 2 EU sets will take place on that day. This is going to be a telling week, with many teams having 3 of their 7 sets under their belts by the end of Sunday.

Rosters

Rosters will be updated here throughout the split.

Novus Orsa was picked up by Lion Guard Esports on Tuesday, Feb 21.

In Memory of Gabe 1 0 0 3

Allegiance 0 0 1 0
Flash Point 0 0 1 0
Noble 0 0 1 0
SoaR 0 0 1 0

Week 2 Schedule

/u/Necromann and I discussed predictions again this week!

EU/NA - Thursday, 2/23 @1pm

  • Lion Guard v Sanguine: Lion Guard looked fine last week against Elevate, taking a game but losing the other one pretty handily. Sanguine looked pretty rough overall against Valance, but we don't know how they would look against a presumably lower level team. This set has a slight chance to split based on what we saw last week, but it probably makes more sense to give a 2-0 to Lion Guard.

  • Valance Squadron v NRG: Valance Squadron looked fine last week, but it was against a Sanguine that already had a question mark. NRG, however, had their worst week in a long time, dropping both games last week to Obey. However, they still are the World Champs, and one bad week doesn't mean they are out of it. The safest bet here is a 2-0 to NRG, but if Valance Squadron takes a game here we could be seeing the champs falter a little.

  • Noble v Luminosity: This set is very straight-forward. In theory, Noble shouldn't even be close to winning one of these games, based on each team's performances last week. This should be a clean 2-0 to Luminosity.

  • Flash Point v Eager: Flash Point looked good for the first half of game 1 against Luminosity last week, but then it was all downhill for them. Meanwhile, Eager ran train on SoaR after a contentious first little bit in their set. This one should likely go 2-0 to Eager unless Flash Point can really step it up.

EU - Saturday, 2/25 @1pm

  • Elevate v NRG: Unless NRG looks really bad coming out of the Valance Squadron set, they should be fine here. Elevate looked okay in week 1, but they are not up to NRG's standards at the moment. This should be a 2-0 for NRG.

  • CycloneGG v Valance Squadron: Valance's performance against NRG will be a large factor in how this set plays out. CycloneGG lost to Dignitas fairly handily last week, but they could turn up this week, potentially. 2-0 to Valance Squadron feels like a safe bet, but Cyclone could turn up and snag a win.

  • Lion Guard v Dignitas: Dignitas feels like a much stronger roster on paper in this matchup. If Lion Guard looks really strong earlier in the week, this vote could change slightly, but for now Dig feels like the better team and they should probably snag the win. 2-0 to Dignitas.

  • Sanguine v Obey: Obey beat the World Champs 2-0, and in an extremely dominant fashion. Not much else to say here. They look absolutely amazing right now, and there is very little chance that Sanguine can take a game. 2-0 to Obey.

NA - Sunday, 2/26 @1pm

  • Enemy v Eager: Enemy surprised some people with the performance of their new solo, Eruzies, as well as Varizial. However, Eager stomped all over SoaR last week, and it's hard to root against a team who not only was a semifinalist at Worlds, but also continues to bring impressive performances out. This should be a clean 2-0 to Eager.

  • In Memory of Gabe v Flash Point: Flash Point's performance versus Eager may be a factor on this set. If they manage to take a game off Eager, they will take a game off Gabe. However, it doesn't seem extremely likely that they take a game off Eager at this time. Flash Point has a larger chance of taking a game here than they do in their set against Eager, but Gabe also looked really strong last week. This is speculated to be a 2-0 to Gabe, but Flash Point can definitely surprise.

  • Noble v Allegiance: Allegiance and Noble both had subpar performances last week in their respective matches. However, Allegiance lost to what is presumed to be a much stronger team than Noble lost to. The favor is on Allegiance here, but both teams will need to step it up to get out of the hole. 2-0 to Allegiance is the most likely call, but if Noble works out some of their kinks as well, they could snag a game.

  • Luminosity v SoaR: SoaR has potential, but we didn't see as much of it last week as we would have wanted. If Luminosity somehow drops a game to Noble, this set count could be very different, but that seems unlikely. This one feels like a 2-0 to Luminosity. However, SoaR could step it up from last week and potentially split the set.

OPL Season 4 Fall Split Week 1 - Discussion and Predictions

.

Where to watch: https://twitch.tv/HirezTV Saturday and Sunday, 2/25 @ 2am EST/5pm AEDT/8am CET and 2/26 @ 3am EST/6pm AEDT/9am CET

Week 2 of the OPL is here! Most weeks going forth will now dial down to 4 sets instead of the 5 from last week. Two teams will continue to have double headers instead of the 4 from last week.

Rosters

Rosters will be updated here throughout the split.

Current Scores

Team Win Split Loss Points
Legacy 2 0 0 6
Avant Garde 1 0 1 3
Dire Wolves 1 0 0 3
Daddy DayCare 0 1 0 1
PRETTY BOIZ 0 1 1 1
Noxide 0 0 2 0

Week 2 Schedule

  • Daddy DayCare v Legacy: We didn't see the Daddy DayCare set against PRETTY BOIZ unfortunately, but they split that set whereas Legacy stomped them. Legacy seems really strong this split, and this set likely won't change that. This is expected to be a 2-0 to Legacy, unless Daddy DayCare regains their footing from last week. Their roster is good on paper - they just need to show it in practice.

  • Avant Garde v Dire Wolves: Dire Wolves look to be as strong as ever, and this middle-ground Avant Garde roster likely won't be the team to falsify that statement. This should likely be a pretty clean 2-0 to Dire Wolves.

  • Noxide v Daddy DayCare: Noxide seems to be the weak roster of this split, dropping two to Avant Garde early. Daddy DayCare's performance on Saturday may influence how the vote on this set plays out, but for now they will get the benefit of the doubt and give a cautious 2-0 to Daddy DayCare.

  • Dire Wolves v PRETTY BOIZ: Unless Avant Garde snags a game on Saturday, this set is pretty set in stone to go to the Dire Wolves. Currently, Legacy seems like the only team that could make Dire Wolves bleed this split, but we will have to see. This should be a 2-0 to Dire Wolves, though.

NA/EU Challenger Circuit Week 1 - Discussion

.

Official Tiermonster page for the Challenger's Circuit

This part of the Challenger's Circuit goes on for 2 more weeks! Only one team in either region has solidified ground for themselves at the head of the pack. If a team gets at least 5 points, they have at least tied for a spot in the Circuit for the next section.

Nox Skin Concept

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 10:48 AM PST

So it looks like HiRez decided to make my skin concept...

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 09:20 PM PST

It's a bitter sweet feeling looking at my twitter today to see this: https://twitter.com/SmiteDatamining/status/834426717053796352/photo/1

Look familiar? That's cause last year I posted this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Smite/comments/4woafa/susano_skin_concept_pirate_lord_of_the_summer/

I mean, HiRez, ya slapped a hat on it, but it's the same thing. Red sash, brown coat over no shirt, bandaged right hand, Blue pants, the darkened eyes. Even details like the shoulder pads, the chords running across the coat as well as the leather belts around the arms.

I am honored that you like my concept, but give a bloke a heads up next time, I worked hard on that!

The only reason I wanna bring this up is that HiRez has had some shaky history acknowledging community artists and the inspiration that they provide.

We created the first real-time eSports app for Smite

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 10:35 AM PST

Hey! A few days ago we messaged the eSports team at Hi-Rez Studios about a real-time eSports app that we created. They really liked it and we were happy to see that they Tweeted about us which some of you might have seen (https://twitter.com/SmitePro/status/834125028870479875). So we also wanted to show the Smite community here at reddit what we've been working on. If you like Smite eSports, then you'll find this app very useful.

The app is called Upcomer and it covers Smite (PC+console) and 16 other eSports. It's available on both Android and iOS for free and it features live scores, notifications, match schedules, tournament information, match details, videos, streams, news and social media updates. It's easy to use and to our knowledge it's the first real-time eSports app covering Smite.

A few thousands of you are already using the app and your feedback has helped us a lot. This app is made for you so keep the feedback coming!

You can get it here: www.upcomer.com

Not even this patch, all recent skins, mastery updates, even king kappa all look amazing.

You can really see the increase in quality in the more recent patches, props to them.

I just want to say Thank You for not overnerfing Thoth.

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 03:43 PM PST

Frankly, people are still going to complain about this god, so I wish they just gave him the piercing slow back. Now its a NON-piercing stun, which i think is kind of worse.

Overall, I'm glad they did not give Thoth the "Raijin Treatment."

Rejoice for Mid Laners everywhere!

[Not Super Serious] More Equality of Hot Gods

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 12:24 AM PST

This will probably not be widely supported as the majority of Smite's players are heterosexual men who like boobies and stuff. However I think if every female goddess has back pain after every game from having triple Z's, as a gay man I would really appreciate some better looking male characters. I mean, all we have is Hercules and his head is so small for his body. Also I'm not an SJW posting about actual inequality this literally doesn't matter, but HiRez I ask of you a little halfheartedly but low key seriously;

Make some skins/gods that are actually attractive for those who swing the other way. Also I'm sure some girl Smite players wouldn't mind (unless they're Lesbians in which case they already have Freya).

TL;DR- Female characters are made sexy, why can't male characters?

Edit 1: I would like to bring up another point. HiRez often chooses to make the gods less human than the females. Think of a goddess other than Arachne that is an adult (no Scylla you pedos) that isn't human or very humanesque (I did just make that word up, yes). For example, Sun Wukong is a monkey, and he looks like a monkey, fur and all. Jing Wei is a bird, but all she has are two wings and the rest is human, skin and boobs and such.

Edit 2: lots of great summer of smite posts here. Look up pool party graves and understand what I want. Also if you don't want this to affect how realistic their gods are, then they can implement this into skins.

Edit 3: Thanks for the replies guys! I am very happy with the discussion this brought. This is not a serious post and my intentions are benign as ever. Please stop, for the few who are, being super butt hurt for no reason. I mean very little with this post, just to start a conversation.

Let's have a candid discussion about the backdoor protection removal and buffs relating to it.

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 08:39 PM PST

There, in my opinion are so many things wrong with this change. First off, lets talk about the change itself. So, I'm sure most of you know by now, next patch, pets can no longer remove tower protections. I disagree with this change first off. I think - while scummy - that backdooring should be a valid opinion. It forces a player out of the team fight to defend the base. Backdooring isn't even that effective (speaking in terms of conq), unless you're in lower ranks, then the people don't know how to deal with it. And if that's the logic they are using to balance the game, Loki would have been nerfed a long time ago.

Second, I make the argument that the buffs do not adequately make up for what the nerf takes away. Bastet was already in a rough spot. She always had that ability to sway a game in her favor by taking a phoenix. An extra 5% on an ability - while good - can not rival the ability to flip a game on its head, so to speak. While I can't speak too much for Nu Wa as I don't play her much, but her buff is better for her than Bastet's because Nu Wa was never known for fully backdooring.

Lastly, Bakasura, my second favorite god (get ready for some bias), he is 100% fucked by this change. Bakasura, to more of an extent, is in a worse spot than Bastet. So losing the ability to backdoor and not receiving compensation is very disheartening. Baka players already have to work harder than other assassins to team fight. Baka, in my humble opinion, deserved a buff before the tower protections nerf was even a thing. I am once again as a long and loyal player, disappointed in the balance team. A theme that seems to be all too common cough Thoth cough.

To recap, I dont think the removal of pet protection removal is good for the gods it effects nor the game itself. I think the "buffs" do not adequately compensation for what they nerf. And I think Baka got a little too fucked.

Please, civil discussion only. If you disagree, form an argument instead of telling me to kill myself. Thanks.

Just got SMITE, any tips?

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 02:38 PM PST

So I downloaded smite yesterday and did all the tutorials, got my level 5 to get into the "classic" gamemode, I've come from League of Legends so I have a basic grasp on MOBAs but any basic tips to prevent me from embarrassing myself when I finally get into playing against other players and not AI? How efficient is the recommended items list for the champion I pick? Would it be more reliable to look up builds to get a core idea for what the heros go for? Any help would be good thanks :D

PS4 4.2 Freezing & Disconnects

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 09:10 AM PST

4.2 on PS4 so far has been full of players freezing and then disconnecting. In my experience it has only been in matches with a Kuzenbo, but I could be wrong.

Anyone else want to share their experiences with the latest console patch?

New Smite Podcast Defend Middle Lane

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 08:42 PM PST

Hello r/smite Community,

I found my self at work one day really wanting to get my smite on but stuck in the office. I figured a smite Podcast would be a perfect solution. However to my avail I was unable to find a recent smite podcast. So me and a couple of my newbie friends thoughts lets try our hands at our own podcasts.

And thus was born "Defend Middle Lane" or VD2 for short.

Now be warned we are grown adults that haven't learned to stop swearing. We aren't excessive but "F*ck" is said, and that likely won't change.

You can find the first episode on Youtube and Sound Cloud. Itunes and others to follow, and more upon request. Some of these apparently take days to be approved. Who Knew!!

About us: We're a bunch of casual smite players, there won't be pro level discussion. Lets be honest though most of us aren't pro or hell even diamond or masters....well maybe we're all diamond in season 4..... Its intended to be a casual podcast for casual smite players.

Now full transparency, none of us have ever done anything like this. Mad Man Mat has some youtube experience with a whopping 100 subs. So we are open to feedback and constructive criticism. We may cry If you hate it :(.

You can give us feed back by emailing defendmiddlelane@gmail.com, commenting on this reddit post or commenting on either sound cloud or youtube. Its our first episode so we will be checking our phones for comments like a 14 year old checks their phone after confessing their love to their crush.

And in case my links fail above try these
