| Niantic, why is Pokemon Go still a joke outside of cities? Posted: 22 Feb 2017 05:58 AM PST I live in rural Midwest. I'm sure other rural players (and even some of suburbia) know the pains.
Contrast that with the cities I've visited since release: San Francisco, Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Columbus, Pittsburgh, London (wee), and (might as well be a city) Disney World
Why is it so hard to allow new pokestops/gyms from being placed? I've heard the argument "people will just put everything at their mailbox" to which I say, ya, so what? Go visit a city. I don't care if every neighbor has a pokestop at their mailbox, its still wouldnt compare to city life. Open up submissions and just put in TWO simple rules:
Does it really matter if every 5th neighbor's mailbox is a pokestop when cities are crawling with them? Why the bias? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 22 Feb 2017 12:48 PM PST So I'm a 20 year old who has too many panic attacks to leave the house much. I've lost jobs from them, friendships are hard to maintain, and just living is impossible sometimes. Many therapists have described to me how Pokemon has been my coping mechanism through this. I play the games over and over again and it keeps me from feeling stressed. Pokemon has been my coping mechanism since I was a kid, but now it has evolved beyond that. Now, I have Pokemon go and it gets me excited to leave the house. I love going to the square in town to get Pokemon and walking around. I no longer have to bring my 3ds with me everywhere in case I get anxious. I love this game... Even though I wish they had more pokestops and Pokemon in rural areas. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 22 Feb 2017 06:01 AM PST Murkrow is so dark on the nearby list that i sometimes think it is a new pokemon i dont have. I get really happy, open the list and see that stupid bird. Happend like 5 times now. Feel kinda stupid! [link] [comments] |
| Best attackers changed once again - Alakazam back to #1 Posted: 22 Feb 2017 04:57 AM PST The top attackers have once again changed around after Niantic have updated the speeds of fast moves. Quick reference image for the top 10 attackers: http://i.imgur.com/EJeLaNN.png Update: technically #2 after Mewtwo, but he's not obtainable yet! [link] [comments] |
| Pidgeys now feel like old friends Posted: 22 Feb 2017 03:17 PM PST With all the inrush of the new generation, weird critters are popping up all around: bugs, bunnies, owls, and lumpy things. So it's nice to see a pidgey amidst the chaos. Here ya go Pidgey: have a Pinap [link] [comments] |

| Solution for rural areas: add berry bushes Posted: 22 Feb 2017 08:10 AM PST Rural and suburban areas have a severe disadvantage over urban areas; this disadvantage manifests as being unable to play the game at times and makes it not fun for a lot of people. I propose that Niantic adds berry bushes to the game. As you all know, berry bushes have been in every Pokemon game since gen 2. Naturally, they would spawn in less urban areas; cities would have a lot of pokestops and few berry bushes (concentrated at parks), while rural areas would have a lot of berry bushes and few pokestops (you no longer get berries from pokestops). But how does this solve the issue? The new berries you get (along with a separate berry pouch) can be turned into special pokeballs to help catch certain types of Pokemon. This is also something that has been in the games since gen 2. The proper pokeball would act as an ultraball, while if you use it on an off type it will act as a pokeball. To further help rural areas, a new type of berry will be added that can be combined with candies to make an incense to lure pokemon of that candy's type to you. So if you combine the berry with 5 goldeen candies, water pokemon will be lured to you for 30 minutes. This solution is meant to allow rural players to actually play the game, while having as much fun as an urban player. It would also make the game more enjoyable overall by adding more things to get excited about while off pokehunting. EDIT: To be clear, the main purpose of berry bushes/trees is to provide special pokeballs for rural/suburban players. [link] [comments] |
| Constructive Idea: Niantic Should Consider Making the Loading Screen Art Community Driven Posted: 22 Feb 2017 03:14 PM PST Since changing the loading screen art doesn't seem to be a HUGE priority for Niantic, and I see some users on here bothered by that, Niantic should have contests bi-Monthly or something like that to let the community pick some cool art to look at while the screen loads. It would be a nice olive branch to a community that seems to be displeased by the lack of communication. Happy hunting! [link] [comments] |
| Nanab berry would be more useful if it gave more Stardust on catch. Posted: 22 Feb 2017 05:14 AM PST I really don't have a problem with a Pokemon that jumps all over my screen. Have patience. I didn't use single one and probably won't but this would be the best way of replacing its effect since we have Pinap that gives more candy why not more stardust. We also need it like we need candies and a little boost would do nicely. [link] [comments] |
| Can we just admit nobody knows what the best move sets are anymore? Posted: 22 Feb 2017 09:51 AM PST The forums have been flooded with different website's "official" move set rankings and they are all completely different. Some take into account raw DPS, others are based on simulations and there is no consensus whatsoever from what I've seen. Take Dragonite for example, in the last couple weeks I have seen at least three move sets listed as the "best" including Dragon Breath/ Hyper Beam, DB/ Dragon Pulse, and most recently Dragon Tail/Outrage. Difficult to know what to hope for when we don't seem to have a clear picture. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 22 Feb 2017 12:20 PM PST Neither my Husband nor I can connect at all. On both of our Devices, as soon as we open Pokémon Go, we both get an endless "Failed to login" we both tried restarting our Devices to no avail. Our Data works. He posted this SAME thing to a Facebook Group and I posted to here on our respective Devices [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 22 Feb 2017 11:07 AM PST According to The Silph Road website, Eevee, Onix, Scyther and Pinsir (possibly among others) have been changed from 10km eggs to 5km eggs. I think that was the right move, the site doesn't show Jynx or Magmar anymore, I hope they changed too. However when I go to walk mine, they still require 5km to walk for one candy. Is this because they were originally hatched from 10km eggs before this change? Changing the eggs around should change the distances required to walk them as well, regardless of when you hatched them. If I caught a new Eevee today and use him as my buddy will he only need 3km per candy vs. an Eevee I caught at the beginning of the game which needed 5km? [link] [comments] |
| Anyone else wish the appraisals were a bit more honest? Posted: 22 Feb 2017 11:42 AM PST Maybe the other faction leaders are a little more realistic, but I long since got kind of tired of the Instinct one being so chirpy during the appraisals. When something is high IV it's fine, but the lower IV ones are way too positive for what they mean. "Your [x] is pretty decent!" and "It's definitely got some good stats. Definitely!" both mean "Meh" (the latter being straight dishonest), and "Its stats are alright, but kinda basic" often means that they aren't even slightly alright. "Its Attack is great too!" is meaningless when its attack is a great 2. I guess what I'm getting at is, would it kill ya to give us an honest evaluation once in a while? [link] [comments] |
| [Complaint] The whole process of creating a gym battle line-up is cumbersome and needs to be fixed. Posted: 22 Feb 2017 05:52 PM PST When I engage a gym, I'm almost never happy with the 6 pokemons the app chooses for me and its SUPER ANNOYING to have to clear them out every single time. As someone who battles gyms regularly, this is a constant source of frustration. Here are some changes Niantic could implement that I think would help streamline the gym battling process:
These are just some of my ideas. I'm sure none of them are new and people have other suggestions that would work better. [link] [comments] |
| [Idea] A possible solution for the lack of rural pokestops: Secret Bases Posted: 22 Feb 2017 03:46 PM PST Until playing Omega Sapphire, I forgot how much fun the Secret Base mechanic was in the old Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. With a modified form I feel like this could really add a lot to Pokemon Go. For those not familiar, you can build a "secret base" in one of 20+ locations in the old Pokemon GBA games. After you chose your location you could decorate it with various cosmetics. Once you have your base to your liking, you would then "mix records" with another person with a similar game (ruby, emerald, or sapphire) and you could go to their secret base in your game and battle their team whenever you wanted. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Secret_Base So how would this benefit rural players??? All we need to do is allow players to create their own "Secret Bases" at their home, these bases would serve as a unique Pokestop. You can share these "Secret Bases" with friends by "mixing records" with them. Here you can spin for items, decorate it a bit (showcase a pokemon, change color/theme, ect), and possibly even put a team in for your friends to battle as well (AI of course to tide us over until we get PVP). The battling could even offer SMALL rewards for winning such as stardust/xp, and it would also allow us a much easier way to see how we stack up against our friends. How on earth could you balance such a thing??? Simply put a GLOBAL cooldown on how often you can spin any "Secret Base Pokestop" such as 15 min? This way even people with 50+ accounts can still only spin their main once every 15 min. It would also need to be unlocked at a reasonable trainer level such as 15 to help prevent people from just making new accounts as well (but not too high of a level to screw rural players over yet again). Lastly we would need a reasonable limit to just how many people we can mix records with, possibly 10? Obviously this is just an rough idea so the numbers I used are not calculated (in terms of being balanced). I honestly think something similar to this will be necessary to allow rural players a chance to at least hit a Pokestop once in a while, and they will make it easier to play in your neighborhood as well (which is a huge deal for kids who can't go far from home). Niantic should also specify to "Only mix records with people you know IRL" or something similar, but keeping a limit to how many you can have will also discourage adding strangers as well. Thanks for reading, let me know what you guys think! TL:DR The ability to make "Pokestops" at your house, and share it with your friends. [link] [comments] |
| Please separate Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokemon Posted: 22 Feb 2017 09:59 AM PST It would be super nice if we could swipe right and have a "PC box" between Gen 1 and eggs. It gets old scrolling all the way down in order to do something with Gen 2 Pokemon [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 22 Feb 2017 07:48 AM PST I started playing a week after PokemonGo came out. I had no initial desire, but I was bored at work and Reddit can only get you so far. So I downloaded the game, caught my starter (Squirtle, of course) and the rest is history. I've been playing faithfully, everyday, since then. As much as I loved PoGo, though, my dog loved it even more. All of a sudden we were going on so many more walks and exploring new parts of the neighborhood. He loved going through the nature trail, where there were squirrels aplenty to bark at while I caught pidgeys and weedles. He was there for all of the big moments - when I caught my first Magmar, when I hatched my first Snorlax, when we were out enjoying every event. He came with me to, at first begrudgingly, explore Gen2. He waited impatiently every time I made him stop walking so I could concentrate on catching a particularly hard mon. He was there for it all. But now he's gone. And I can't bring myself to even look at the game, let alone go out and play it. How can I walk around, trying to catch them all, without my trusty companion by my side? So thank you, PokemonGo. Maybe one day I'll play again, when the wound is less fresh. For now I just want to thank the game and the community for bringing joy to my dog's life and letting us bond even further. People complain about this game so much, but it was always there for what it was intended - getting out and connecting with others. Even if that other was just a dog. [link] [comments] |
| There needs to be an AR mini game where you can interact with your Pokemon while stationary. Posted: 22 Feb 2017 07:58 PM PST Im sitting here in bed wanting to check out my new Pokemon, but i cant even bring them out. We have this beautiful AR mode, yet we can't take our Pokemon out and interact with them. Want gym diversity while simultaneously educating new players? My suggestion: Why not have an AR mini game where you can practice battling in AR with your Pokemon. This will teach type advantages (hell i consider myself hardcore and i still dont know what dark, fairy, etc are good against). Your Pokemon gains a small amount of permanent CP (very small) each time, and may earn berries (to benefit collectors who arent interested in battle). And your Pokemon cant grow stronger than 3000 CP (this would stop people from training dragonites to ridiculous levels, and would entice me to train up my favourites like Ninetales and Scyther who are otherwise too low CP to get on gyms. The CP gain would scale so the lower CP the Pokemon, the more it benefits from this training (so people dont just train up their 2800 vaporeons). I know, i know Niantic wants us to be active. The gains from this training would not be more worthwhile than walking around and catching/doing gyms. We could also limit it to once per day per trainer level (so a level 20 could do this 20 times max per day and then need to get their butt outside). tldr: train with your pokemon in ar mode while stationary to improve low cp pokemon and learn type advantages. | [Idea] Adding 1 use incubators to pokestops. Posted: 22 Feb 2017 11:52 AM PST You probably do remember, around christmas when you could obtain a 1 use incubator from pokestops once a day. This idea was genius! I constantly see myself in a position with 9 eggs and only 1 incubator, slowly working my way through all the boring 5km eggs. I don't wanna use 10$ on pokecoins every now and then to buy incubators. "But why dont you just earn pokecoins like you're supposed to? with gyms!?". I really dont have to answer this question, do i? First of all, gyms are filled with spoofers. Secondly, i live in a suburb, so there is 1 gym in the whole city. Now, Niantic shouldnt reward you with an incubator a day like at christmas. In my opinion it should be luck based, but at the same time, they should be obtainable ALL day if you're going on a grind. Lets say you're going to a bigger city for a day, and you're going to grind all day. Then 1, 1 incubator doesn't help you a lot. No, the incubators should be obtainable from pokestops with odds 1:30 or something. This would definitely bring balance to the overload of eggs, the majority of us sits with. Also, i think it was a great idea last christmas, and i doubt it'll ever become a trouble, or too overpowered. [link] [comments] |
| [Suggestion] Folders! (Needed now more than ever) Posted: 22 Feb 2017 09:21 AM PST So I remember this being a discussion/suggestion point in the past, but now that Gen II is out, I feel like folders are needed now more than ever, and will become even more useful in the future. It would be extremely nice to have a folder for my attackers, for my trainers, and for my defenders. I feel like right now it's all cluttered, and a naming system might be too difficult, because if they keep changing the moves around, then you'd have to keep up with those changes as well. Having folders would be as simple as adding music to a certain playlist. You could add and remove Pokémon as you please, and it would just be very easy (in my opinion) to navigate through. Obviously with future generations to come this would make it a no brainer to have folders then as well, but starting now would be a great time to implement it. What are your thoughts? | Shouldn't jigglypuff, electabuzz, and clefairy give 5 candies now? Posted: 22 Feb 2017 12:14 PM PST if 2nd evolutions give 5 candies, should the adult forms of the babies drop 5 candies since they are technically 2nd evolutions? oversight or wishful thinking? i mean, it would be really useful to have the bonus candies [link] [comments] |
| [PSA] During Gym Battles, swipe up to show team Posted: 22 Feb 2017 06:08 PM PST Sorry if this was discovered a while ago, but I never knew about it and just did it in a gym and felt excited about learning something new. I hope someone else benefits from this. CLARITY EDIT: You can also switch Pokèmon using this method as well. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 22 Feb 2017 12:18 PM PST I've been trying to connect to the game for the past 15 minutes but to no avail. The game is stuck at the loading screen and the bar won't move at all until it gives me that message that gives me the option to "Retry". Anyone else having the same problem? [link] [comments] |
| [Complaint] Time to ask about Pokémon Trainer's Club account to Google+ account transfers again... Posted: 22 Feb 2017 01:49 PM PST Literally the single worst decision I made about this game was to make my account main using my PTC account. I thought it was great that I could use an account that I already had. [link] [comments] |
