So last night we got the Cosmic Wings, one of these very rare and desirable items in D3: https://youtu.be/yGqDsLPRJDg

After one week of intense coordinated farming with 4 players and constantly learning and improving our strategy we finally got lucky on our 149th Rainbow Rift this season since we began our coordinated effort last week and started counting, and were able to grab the Cosmic Wings from Princess Lilian's paws. I would like to share our experiences with you guys and as there is quite some misinformation going around, let's start with the basics.

  • Basics
    Cosmic Wings have a 100% chance to drop from Princess Lilian in Whimsydale. You get access to Whimsydale from Rainbow Goblins which make up around 3.3% of all possible goblin spawns. Princess Lilian has a chance of around 1% to spawn in a Rainbow Rift, the exact odds are unknown due to low sample sizes. Rainbow Goblins only spawn in the open world and never in rifts nor in vaults, you have to basically run around in the open world until you find one.

  • Strategy
    The optimal strategy to farm for Lilian is to spawn as many Rainbow Rifts in as little time as possible. For that you need a fast build to cover a lot of ground quickly. Speed is key and I recommend Infinite Dash Monk on the lowest possible difficulty where you do not one-shot goblins (more on that under the Group section later). Some would recommend Chicken Witch Doctor or other speed builds for this task, but basically everyone who has ever tried Infinite Dash Monk agrees that it is the fastest. It does not require a lot of gear or paragons and there are some great example builds on diablofans, which all revolve around the same idea (the stuff I threw together as a reference was this: https://www.d3planner.com/913657797 and some example builds on diablofans are https://www.diablofans.com/builds/82070-ultimate-rainbow-goblin-farming-monk and https://www.diablofans.com/builds/87470-infinite-dash-cosmetic-and-rainbow-goblin-farmer). Once you are set up for speed you want to ignore everything but rainbows, no killing any other goblins, no looting anything, no clicking bandit shrines or entering vaults. You will certainly also find your number of Spectrums and Ancient Horadric Hamburgers to go … While all these distractions may seem enticing in the beginning, after the first couple of days you will realize that all you want is the rainbow and everything else must be ignored.

  • Routes
    The routes you take are generally preferential, and especially with Infinite Dash Monk it seems inviting to include the larger fields and cover a lot of ground. In my experience though this does not pay off and the commonly recommended spots are indeed the most efficient. These are:

ACT I: Cave of the Moon Clan in Southern Highlands, Cathedral 1 > Leorics Passage > Cathedral 2, 3, 4 > Royal Crypts
ACT II: Sewers of Caldeum via Waypoint City of Caldeum, Ancient Waterways West and East (some skip East because it has more dead ends)
ACT III (possibly but not necessarily, only if you are so inclined): Core of Arreat, Bridge of Korsikk > Caverns of Frost (but NOT Icefall Caves)

That is it. It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes per run and after that you would start a new game if you didn't find a Rainbow. I never went into Acts 4 or 5 anymore after the first couple days, even though the double Goblins in Pandemonium and other spots may seem promising, according to my statistics only those previously spots are worthwhile.   • Group
    As a solo player you will be able to spawn 1-2 Rainbow Rifts per hour of gameplay depending on your speed and efficiency. As with everything in Diablo, team efforts are much more efficient. Our strategy was for 4 players to each run solo in his own game, with his own routes and and in his own time, and whenever one finds a Rainbow Goblin to invite the other 3 players to the group to run the Rainbow Rift together. That is a bit of a tricky aspect as players can only enter the portal if they are in the game when the goblin is killed and the portal is spawned. So once you encounter a Rainbow Goblin it must not be killed until the others are in the game. Instead you immediately should pause the game (usually by pressing the ESC button) and let your buddies know that you found one. Your buddies then get into the menu and let you know when they are ready. Once they all are in the menu and ready you get back into the game and let them join you before killing the Goblin and spawning the portal. This works best with Quick Join, but you can also manually invite them. You have about 20 seconds after engaging a Goblin until it despawns, which has happened to me once or twice in the beginning as well as insta-killing them before your friends have a chance to join the game. The key here is to find the right difficulty where you do not insta kill a Goblin once you dash into it. You can keep it in combat with a low damage attack for quite long as well and prevent it from despawning until your friends are all there.   • Odds
    The odds of finding the Cosmic Wings are very low indeed and if you try to farm them it does make sense to be aware of the odds and the commitment required. To be honest, I was not aware of the actual odds and strategies when I started this and just tried to get lucky, so I just worked it all out on the go. But as not everybody can hope to get lucky – we certainly didn't with our 149 Rainbow Rifts until success – it does make sense to consider the probabilities and the effort for anybody interested in farming these. For us it took 149 Rainbow Rifts this season since we started counting a week ago and from other reports we seem to have been right around the average with this. If we assume a spawn rate for Lilian of 1% for each Rainbow Rift we can use a binomial calculator to see the odds of finding her after our 149 Rainbow Rifts were 77%. The odds of finding her after 10 Rainbow Rifts are 9%, after 50 Rifts 39%, after 100 Rifts 63% and after 200 Rifts 86%. That means if you are unlucky you could easily do 200 Rainbow Rifts and spend all of your time in season on this effort and still not find her. Optimal way to do rifts when farming DBs?

So I've collected that it's optimal to only go after dense mob packs and elites. However, should you detour each map to attempt to find elites that may be on that floor instead of just choosing a path and hoping you end up at the exit?

Also, would you keep doing the rift after killing the guardian for more elites? I know that the main reason you do it is for bloodshards, but DBs are valuable as well.

D3 - My friend and I can't play together online (PS4)

My buddy and I each just bought this game. When we try to join each other's party we get "ERROR - There was a problem joining the game."

I've read forums everywhere and tried the following: - clicking "join party" instead of "invite to group" - restarting the game - restarting the systems - adding the PS4's IP address to our routers' DMZ

What are we missing? How many times do we have to restart our systems to get this to work? Is there anything else we can do to fix this?

Hello, I was watching streams today and got stuck on diablo. I've only played D3 and i started to play it when it got released, spent like 60-70hours on it and then i just quitted. I downloaded it today and I really want to start playing again but I have no clue about the game anymore, help me out with tips, whats new, which classes are fun/good, do i have to buy Reaper of Souls? etc. ( i have a 60 demon hunter, 38 Barbarian and 10 witch doctor)

Equipment for Raekor Barbarian

I use mostly Face Charge and Hammer of the Ancients, sometimes using Wrath of the Berserker, stuck at T8 so far.

The only slots where I have crap/unrelated items are bracers, belts, one ring and the weapon(s).

Am thinking about combining the whole thing with IK (weapon and belt) and using the ancients for support.
I dont want to waste my precious resources on things that don't work together, so any help is appreciated.

Also, what to put in the cube?

Do people not use the Ignite effect on Firebird set?

I've been looking through some builds to see if there's a build that employs Disintegrate + Etched Sigil since I like that fun little combo. But every time I come across Firebird builds on Diablofans, they're not using multiple fire spells to trigger the 3000% permanent Ignite effect. Which seems pretty important, given the 6 piece effect. I get that it's always active on elites, but what about non-elites? Surely you can't just obliterate them without considerable paragon level if you don't have an actual damage increase from your set.

So been looking to come back, played this game since vanilla on PC until my computer took a shit. Now I'm thinking about buying the ultimate evil edition for ps4. Due to costly amount to actually build a future proof PC. Could I get all my progress from my bnet account or would I have to start from scratch? And also I have a mouse and keyboard for my ps4, is it possible to switch from controller to keyboard and mouse? Thanks for the help in advance.

Crusader Help! Fresh 6pc Akkhan's

Hey all need help, I'm trying to optimize my build with the right leggo's and gems. I'm running T6's and T7's relatively quick pace, but it just doesn't seem like I'm acquiring enough gear/mats in order to progress timely. Am I doing things right? Can someone point me in the right direction as to the appropriate order a fresh 6pc season character should go in to start optimizing their character to the fullest?

[NA HC/SC] Offering leveling and bounties

Hey guys, this has been my first Diablo season in a while and have had a blast in part due to the great info on this subreddit.

I've achieved most of my goals this season and am now looking to give back to the community for anyone who wants to be leveled in HC or SC. Also I'm pretty much constantly doing HC bounties (although I'm a bit behind on HC so only T6 at the moment).

D3 has to update every time I close it

This just started today. Every time I close the game or reconnect my internet, D3 has to download a 24.7 mb patch. It wouldn't be so bad for most, but i'm on 150kb/s internet and it takes a while. What's going on?
