Using StinkyBoard to it's full potential in DOTA?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 03:48 PM PST

Hey all, wondering if anyone else is taking advantage of using a Stinkyboard to play Dota? I recently got one for my birthday, but I've never used anything like it before... I'm not sure if I am hotkey-ing the best options.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, it's a foot board that gives you access to 4 more shortcuts. I'm missing my right hand, so I thought it was really cool when I got it for my birthday, having never heard of it before.

I'm guessing it will allow me to actually play some first person shooters (which I have a lot of difficulty with because of a lack of two hands and them generally requiring a lot of hotkeys). For now, I'm just trying to get used to actually using my foot to play since I usually sit with my feet up. Baby steps, haha.

Currently, I have the left and right buttons doing Select Next (Previously TAB button), and Select Hero respectively. The front and back buttons... I'm not sure what to put that would be useful. I put the Stop command on the back, but I never remember to hit it when I need it. Any suggestions? Is there a Select all units? I may be blind... Tabbing between and selecting main are useful, but working on say, Meepo (which I've never played really, but he's my daily hero challenge today, so I tried him out in bots) where you want to grab all your clones and main together... IDK?

Anyways, just thought I'd see if anyone else is using this board, and if you can tell me (or suggest something if you don't have it) some useful bindings to put on the other buttons?

Here's the board, if anyone is interested in it or whatever. http://stinkyboard.com/videos/

Obviously, you don't have to be missing limbs to enjoy the use of the extra keys, it just makes it a little easier on the people who are.

Morphling 7.02 help

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 01:42 PM PST

Due to te fact that morphling is a hero that i consider myself really bad with i wanted to know: item builds and what timing should i be getting. How to approach fights without shot gun build and early mid game. How to increase farming efficiency. ( i feel that because he is a slow hero that cant really tank neutrals like a melee hero with pms i end up wasting too much time). Any advice tips would be greatly appreciated. I feel the early midgame is my boggest hurdle. I dont get items fast enough with the hero

Is there a way to draw tower aggro from teammates to yourself? Even if there's no enemy heros nearby?

I saw plenty of guides talking about attacking a ally creeps, but one mentions this.

Blademail on Viper.

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 04:51 AM PST

Aside from the fact that everyone in pub seems to prefer going Viper as a tank and I am the only one who actually win playing him as a ganker and pusher, why this particular item? I guess peer pressure, but there has to be a noteworthy source.

I suppose it is to return magical damage, since Viper has bonus 25% resistance from one of his passives. Viper has 2.1 strength gain per level, which is also higher than most Agility carries. Dealing with physical damage, if you are really doing well, then you should not be worrying about it in the first place. The enemy right-clickers will have no way of getting to you.

The reason I cannot see Blademail suitable on Viper is that he has 575 attack range and usually buys Dragon lance. He is not in the middle of a fight and while he is durable, much of that comes from his slowing spells which prevent the enemy from attacking in the first place.

If you really want to tank as Viper, Pipe of Insight, Black King Bar, Silver Edge and Aghanim Scepter are much better.

What do you think about it?

Where and how can I get a coach?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 02:58 PM PST

May I know what are the legit and major websites for hiring a coach?

How should I ask the coach to do? Should I ask him to play with me, or coach me in game(but not playing), or analysis my replay like purge did on his channel?

Many thanks!

What could I have done differently??

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 05:33 PM PST

I don't normally do this but I just can't figure out what I could have done. I was a 6 slotted Luna and Timber was basically un-killable. Any suggestions of items or strats is welcome. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3012796539

As a new player, how valuable is doing the all hero challenge?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 01:39 PM PST

I'm trying to do the all hero challenge because I'm trying to learn all of the heroes and even if I'm not proficient with them, it's good to know their abilities and how they work.

Is it really worth the time though? Or am I better off sticking to a smaller pool of heroes until I have a better understanding of macro and micro mechanics?

what can one do under this circumstance?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 05:19 PM PST

i had this game with my team lineups are abaddon, lone druid, pudge, earth spirit, and clinkz against mirana, ogre, ember,am,and clockwerk. ember first picked on the enemy side then ld instapick to counter ember in lane before the ogre and mirana was picked. should ld go to jungle and someone else take his place in mid? i felt we lose it in draft phase and laning phase

my own opinion;we lose in draft phase cause we should pick another defensive support, pudge or earth spirit doesnt suit the playstyle if we want to center on ld for our main carry, there is also no follow-up if earth spirit managed to stun 2-3 people with boulder smash. compared to us their lane was pretty solid with am,clockwerk and ember

we lose in this game and ld got ganked like three times with ember, mirana and ogre

top=clinkz bot=earth spirit roam=pudge mid=abaddon+ld

Disconnect to Game Coordinator at end of game... did the game even happen?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 05:07 PM PST

Hey, what should I do if I get get one of those "Can't reach Game Coorddinator, sign-out can be slow" and "Connected to Game coordinator, logging in... " errors.

I just played a game, and I'm a bit scared, because as of now it doesn't show up in my history and I don't see the game on Opendota.

It was one of those selfless Omniknight games, so I kind of want the MMR.

Dealing with large skill ranges in games

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 04:55 PM PST

As I've started climbing, the range of mmr in a given game has started to spread out more and more, mostly from parties mixed into solo. I know this is pretty normal in high ranked games, but how do you deal with being on the low end? If i know theres multiple players on my team higher than me I play support so they carry, but I feel really ineffective against other higher ranked players.

What do you do when you're outright outclassed by your opponents?

Is Hurricane Pike worth it on Sniper?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 12:59 PM PST

I've played a few matches as sniper recently and picked up hurricane pike each time. I can see how the dragon lance is helpful, and I feel like the force staff component is kinda situational. But I feel like the active on hurricane pike wasn't really ever useful. For the most part, if I was fighting, I was staying behind my team. Any time I wanted to use hurricane pike I'd be running past my other teammates in order to use it. I feel like the cast range is so limiting that it's really only useful if you're getting jumped. Or should I just focus on using it as a positioning tool for myself or allies?

Earth Spirit Ultimate

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 04:35 PM PST

I'm pretty new to earth spirit and I'm trying to learn how to get his ultimate Magnetize to affect as many people as possible. When Earth Spirit Ult's, any enemy heroes in 300 range are affected by magnetize. My question is there anyway to then spread the ult to other heroes outside of the 300 range, maybe by kicking a stone at them or dropping a stone near them?

Microstutter/lag on illusion heroes (Dark seer, spectre, naga)

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 02:22 PM PST

I have 100+ fps and it never goes below 60 fps but I get these little lag spikes when illusion heroes use their abilities, and it makes some teamfights basically unplayable. For instance, if dark seer uses vacumm+wall my game will slow down then speed up, despite the fps and ping indicators showing normal numbers (e.g. 60-80 fps, 30-60 ping, 0 packet loss).

Does anyone know what causes these short .5-1 sec lag spikes on illusions and how to fix them? I've tried setting minimum graphics settings, using opengl/vulkan, and other things but it seems to have no effect on these 'illusion microstutters'. This is the only lag I get playing dota but it is extremely annoying because it happens at crucial moments such as when spec or ds use ulti.

Need help playing anti-mage to finish quest.

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 07:35 AM PST

Im not good at playing AM because i mainly play support although ive been playing dota when it was still in warcraft but never have i touched AM since dota 2 was released can you guys give usefull infos how to play him? Builds, strategies, timing of items, when to participate in team fights while still underfarmed, who to target and who to avoid. Also im playing at SEA server where supports are non existent. I've already tried 2 games and lose 2 because of support undying body blocking and stealing last hits instead of zoning enemies thats why they got ahead.

Request - Can someone make a in depth courier guide?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 07:28 AM PST

I was in a game recently and someone was saying that they made changes with courier and now you can redirect it to other people etc. I have no idea how to do anything with courier except retrieve my items and write "reuse" to get whoever was previously using it to reuse it...so i avoid all the flame.

general tips to win a game (2-4k) picking stage and coordinating with teammates

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 01:15 PM PST

How is it possible to win games like these?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 04:59 AM PST

I recently started playing some ta and i love the hero. Games like these make me feel shes not a fantastic choice due to her poor teamfight contribution(in my scrub opinion). Long story short, we lost every lane, our troll was touching himself in the jungle for a couple months and proceeded to donate gold and sweet duel wins to the enemy legion. We were getting stomped pretty hard but somehow dragged the game to 50mins and still lost despite having 3 late game carries.. I tried balancing farming and fighting as much as i could, bought wards when no one else did, and it seems like it all comes down to nothing.

I died alot less than the others from simply meld blinking away when im in trouble, but then my team melts afterwards..

Additional questions :

At what timing should i stack ancients? Do i forgo lane creeps? How do i cope with the nightmare that is the HOHOHAHA? Please send help =(
