Heroes of the Storm - So my girlfriend dumped me last week...

So my girlfriend dumped me last week...

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 07:51 AM PST

And I've been feeling the blues. I picked up HotS to try and get my mind on other things.

I tried out some heroes and fell in love with Nazeebo, I love the spider build :D

And today I got 5 upvotes after a game and it made my day. I just wanted to say thanks if anyone of you were in that game.

And thanks to the community for the many laughs and the general positivity (which seems to be absent from the MOBA community).

Thanks u guys <3

EDIT: Wow, thanks for the warm welcome!

Murky - It's been fun, now it's getting stupid.

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 04:08 AM PST

Blizzard, time to release the Murky nerfs.

Something with 57% winrate and a huge popularity should not be a hero as simple, frustrating, forgiving and uncounterable like Murky.

It's been fun. Time to tune him down a little so it requires a good Murky player to get value, rather than the Q-spamming clown fiesta he is now.

Everybody agrees that Murky is a supercool hero to have in the game, in a niche role. Not as first ban material.

Lucio is the most terrifying hero in the game

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 07:48 AM PST

So I'm in Warhead junction, and its freakishly silent, I'm rather unnerved. So I decide I'm going to have a look round, I'm the Butcher, I should be the scary one here. I go to the watchtower to see what is around, the entire team is there, luckily my teammates are there to help me attack them and get them down to low health. It looks like we are winning.

"LETS DROP A BEAT" I hear, my heart sinks, they all have shields and have killed Ragnaros, Oh, mighty Firelord how could you fall so easily. I mount and run away through the large and dark warhead junction. Everything is completely silent now as my nexus battle beast takes me away.

"LUCIO COMIN RIGHT AT YA" is what I hear as he sprints up to me, I am currently the one being butchered. I keep going, but he has dismounted me, as Maraudin' Muradin has jumped onto my face and attacked me. "YOU GOT THE BEAT DOWN" is all I hear as my vision fades.

What a cruel fate.

Murky's 8-second Slow

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 12:57 PM PST

I don't think this game needs to have an 8-second slow. That's my real biggest beef with murky, I don't know enough about the game to know why murky is or isn't a problem, but I do know that I hate playing against an 8-second slow.

McIntyre - Why Do We Pick It - Ep. 1 - Tier Extension

I miss the hero trailers

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 03:19 PM PST

Pretty much as title says. I really liked some trailers that showed interactions between characters like these two

Auriel

Gul'dan

or more funny ones like :

Tracer

Chromie

Last one was the Samuro trailer, nothing for Valeera or Zul'jin, and other older characters like Li-ming, Dehaka.... (for Varian and Ragnaros we got that CGI trailer but was for blizzcon)

I hope that we can see more of those in addition to the spotlight trailers...

Can we get a build preference system so our disconnected bots follow it?

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 06:00 AM PST

So you pick for example build A and it highlights the talents you normally get in that build. This way when you disconnect and then reconnect to a game, the bot does not chose talents that you don't pick. It will follow your build preference talents if it happens to select a talent.

Let the heroes on profile screen show skins to others

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 10:05 AM PST

Currently the heroes on your profile screen have their latest used skin equipped when you check your own profile.

When someone else looks to your profile, they have default skin and default color layout.

What is the point of this? Let the heroes show their skins to everyone ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

Rexxar needs a Batman skin

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 09:06 AM PST

I've heard it mentioned before and I have to agree. Rexxar could definitely pull off a Batman skin and we could give Misha a Robin outfit. Instabuy.

Cho'gall needs love

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 12:31 PM PST

his popularity in ranked at all levels is absurd.

his negatives far outweigh his positives. If murky gets a rework, Cho'gall should get one.

-Limited Map Presence
-Giant Killer really fucks him up
-Same damage as two assassins, where if you stun 1 the other also gets stunned

An In-Depth Analysis Of Past Hero Releases (With Predictions)

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 10:16 AM PST

Wall of text incoming.

I'm going to start this off with a big ol' disclaimer that none of us knows exactly what Blizzard has in the pipeline without running in certain circles, but I think there is some information we can glean from their past content to determine probability of upcoming releases. Whether you just want some statistical information or want to form your own predictions, I hope this sheds some additional light on Blizzard's development trends.

I'm no fortune teller or prophet. I'm just a fan with a lot of time on my hands, so take my predictions with a grain of salt. Also, though it may seem like it, this is not a wish list. The characters I predict are not necessarily the ones I would prefer.

Not all information will add up to exact totals due to some rounding. Roles are bolded, so you can skip to whichever you are interested in.

WARRIORS

52.9% Warcraft

  • Last released: Varian - 11/15/2016

  • 3 Warcraft warriors in the last 25 releases (Varian, Cho, Rexxar)

11.7% Starcraft

  • Last released: Dehaka - 3/29/2016

  • 2 Starcraft warriors in the last 25 releases (Dehaka, Artanis)

29.4% Diablo

  • Last released: Leoric - 7/21/2015

  • 1 Diablo warrior in the last 25 releases (Leoric)

5.8% Overwatch

  • Last released: Zarya - 9/27/2016

  • 1 Overwatch warrior in the last 25 releases (Zarya)

Regarding game representation, two figures stand out to me here: only 11.7% of the warrior roster is from Starcraft (though both were released within the past 18 months), and the last Diablo warrior was released back in July of 2015.

Since mid 2015 (including a time when the game had one of its longest droughts without a warrior announcement), we haven't gone more than 7 hero releases without a warrior. We currently have 4 since Varian.

My prediction: Given the period between releases and the length of time since Leoric's release, I believe the next warrior will be announced within the next 3 heroes (or within 8 weeks at their current pace), and it will be from the Diablo universe. My guess would be Imperius, but there are other characters that could fit as well.

ASSASSINS

58.3% Warcraft

  • Last released: Valeera - 1/24/2017

  • 9 Warcraft assassins in the last 25 releases (Valeera, Zul'jin, Ragnaros, Samuro, Gul'dan, Chromie, Greymane, Lunara, Gall)

25% Starcraft

  • Last released: Alarak - 9/13/2016

  • 1 Starcraft assassin in the last 25 releases (Alarak)

12.5% Diablo

  • Last released: Li-Ming - 2/2/2016

  • 2 Diablo assassins in the last 25 releases (Li-Ming, The Butcher)

4.1% Overwatch

  • Last released: Tracer - 4/19/2016

  • 1 Overwatch assassin in the last 25 releases (Tracer)

Aside from Overwatch (which is somewhat recently starting to fill in its Heroes roster), Diablo is pretty heavily underrepresented in this role. It has also been over a year since the last Diablo assassin was released.

An assassin was announced following each Overwatch hero release: Chromie after Tracer, and Samuro after Zarya.

Blizzard has not gone more than a single hero release without announcing an assassin since March of 2016, when Xul and Dehaka were added.

My prediction: Blizzard has been releasing assassins frequently and often in bunches. The last 4 (or 4.5 if you count Varian) assassins have been from the Warcraft universe, and they were all released successively, which is unprecedented. They do, however, tend to take a break from Warcraft characters for a few releases after adding several together. With that in mind, I believe there will be 2 assassins announced within the next 6 heroes (17 weeks), and each of them will be from Starcraft and Diablo. Assassins are the most populated role for a reason; there are a ton of characters that could fit here. Maybe Narud and Malthael?

SUPPORTS

54.5% Warcraft

  • Last released: Rehgar - 7/23/2014

  • 0 Warcraft supports in the last 25 releases

18.2% Starcraft

  • Last released: Lt. Morales - 10/6/2015

  • 1 Starcraft support in the last 25 releases (Lt. Morales)

18.2% Diablo

  • Last released: Auriel - 8/9/2016

  • 2 Diablo supports in the last 25 releases (Auriel, Kharazim)

9.1% Overwatch

  • Last released: Lucio - 2/14/2017

  • 1 Overwatch support in the last 25 releases (Lucio)

These tend to come few and far between. Though vague, Blizzard has noted that more supports are coming. Still, you'd have to look back to 2015 to find the last time 2 supports were added within a couple months of each other.

My prediction: Warcraft has not had a support added in nearly 3 years. Because of this, I think that universe may be next in line, but we may need to wait until late April or May. Maybe Velen?

SPECIALISTS

36.4% Warcraft

  • Last released: Medivh - 6/14/2016

  • 1 Warcraft specialist in the last 25 releases (Medivh)

27.3% Starcraft

  • Last released: All - 3/13/2014 (Launch Day)

  • 0 Starcraft specialists in the last 25 releases

27.3% Diablo

  • Last released: Xul - 3/1/2016

  • 1 Diablo specialist in the last 25 releases (Xul)

9.1% Classic

  • Last released: The Lost Vikings - 2/10/2015

Stukov makes too much sense here, considering the teased image of infested humans, that we haven't seen a specialist in 8 months, and Starcraft hasn't had one since the game officially released.

The role in general has been somewhat stagnant for the past year and a half. An Overwatch specialist also makes sense, since there isn't one on the roster yet. I wouldn't be surprised if 2 of the next 4-5 announcements are specialists, with Stukov being the very next hero and maybe D.Va down the road.

COMPILED PREDICTIONS

Based on previous trends, lapses of time between releases, and recent additions, I believe the next 6 heroes will be:

  • 1 warrior

  • 2 assassins

  • 1 support

  • 2 specialists

  • 2 Diablo heroes

  • 2 Starcraft heroes

  • 1 Warcraft hero

  • 1 Overwatch hero

And who I think they will be, in order:

March 7th: Stukov - Starcraft Specialist

March 28th: Malthael - Diablo Assassin

April 18th: Imperius - Diablo Warrior (I admit it might be overkill to release three angelic heroes in a row, including Auriel, but these are two highly-requested heroes. Could be an interesting double-announcement with Malthael.)

May 9th: Velen - Warcraft Support

May 30th: Starcraft Assassin (I'm truly unsure of who I'd put here. My gut says a Terran character.)

June 20th: Overwatch Specialist (I don't know how Overwatch characters would transition into this role. D.Va makes sense to me as a sort of warrior-ish specialist. Swapping between mech and human "modes" seems like a specialist concept.)

Why can't we gift heroes, skins and mounts already?!

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 04:49 AM PST

It's been discussed a million times. I still can't believe it.

It's my brothers birthsday today, we both play HotS together very often. It would've been the perfect present and he would've been so happy.

I will never buy this: http://eu.battle.net/heroes/en/blog/20060735/the-battlenet-gift-card-02-12-2016. It's simply not personal enough. I'll figure of something else. Still sad it's not possible. Make it possible, Blizzard, please :)
