This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes, but also can be a great place for in depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully someone can answer them!

I have been making the Global Power Rankings for the past year for Eclypsia but this is the first time that I decided to write it in English.

As for a methodology, I have watched over 60 games every week for over two years now in order to develop a list of criteria for my evaluation. It also helped me improve my analysis skills and learn a lot about the game. I also have a background on financial analysis which might help creating a solid data base about the teams and stats. Additionally English isn't my mother tongue so I would gladly appreciate any tips about my writing skills.

Poland embassy strikes:we never recived EDG's visa application.

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 01:11 AM PST

As you might know, EDG annouces withdrawn from IEM Poland due to their not being able to finish visa apply before assigned date, which is Feb 22nd.

Today Poland embassy's offical weibo account post this, regarding EDG's failing to get their visas approved to attend IEM Poland.

Poland Annoucement

quick translation:

We heard about the news, this is what happend:

Their visas didn't happend was because they didn't prepare enough materials for the processing(which happens at the visa submitting center),so their visa application never did arrive at Poland embassy in Shanghai.

We Poland value our relationship with China, welcome to Poland!

Lore Power Levels Day One: The God Tier

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 12:25 PM PST

A while back I made one of these lists and I decided to discontinue it due to a lack of time coupled with a lack of drive.
Well I am back with a revised version of the champions and how powerful they are. This list is as unbiased as possible, and goes off the CURRENT LORE. All mentions of the Institute of War or summoners will be ignored. THIS MEANS THAT JAX'S WIN STREAK ON THE RIFT DOES NOT MATTER. IT IS AS CANON AS A FAN FICTION. I'M SORRY. That one was the most brought up point last time by far. While I admit some of my placements were….questionable, I think I have it accurately this time. Cinematics that do not take place on Summoner's Rift are canon, as they take place on a neutral battlefield. In addition no fan theories will be accepted. So no, "Nocturne is Zed," or "Jhin is Kindred," or "Braum is an Iceborn." (Though he is immortal, or at least unaging)
The goal of this list is to categorize champions based on THEIR power. This will be elaborated upon as the lists develop.
TL;DR: This is a list putting champions into tiers by how powerful they are in the canon lore.
The Five Tiers are: God, Transcended, Harbinger, Magus, Mortal
The tiers will each be released as a list, each on a different day this week, because all together the document was around fifteen pages in Google Docs.
First up is the God Tier.

God Tier: These beings are the closest to gods that can be found in League of Legends. Their impact is felt beyond Runeterra, and are capable of feats on a cosmic scale. Their power is completely innate, and are unmatched unless compared to each other.
Champions in God Tier: 3
Champions: Aurelion Sol, Bard, Kindred

Aurelion Sol: The Star Forger is a Celestial Dragon who creates stars and can destroy them at will. Possibly one of the oldest beings in the lore, he is immortal in age, but is not invincible. However to kill him would mean getting past a star being thrown at you, but by all means go ahead and try. He considers Bard and Kinder to be his only peers of equal, and considers Ascension to be mere child's play. The only reason Targon is able to control him is because they attack what he cares for, as directly controlling him is impossible. Sol can create stars and then throw them at his enemies, incinerating them on the spot. He can fly across star systems in minutes, and across Runeterra in seconds. Not only did he put the stars in the sky, but he can move them as he chooses, meaning the stars can literally align for him. His breath is a blast of pure starfire, comparable to a small supernova, if such a thing exists. Of all the stars on Summoner's Rift, none burn brighter than Aurelion Sol.

Bard: The Wandering Caretaker is a cosmic Celestial with the ability to walk through time and space at will. His very speech is impossible to comprehend, and is thus heard as various noises. Bard can freeze someone in the space-time continuum, open portals through dimensions, is completely immortal, and has a whole race devoted to him. He can use these beings, called the Meeps, in battle by having them fill with cosmic energy and charge at opponents. When he isn't using Meeps like living cannonballs, he can blast beings with pure cosmic energy using his horn. Watching over space and time to ensure a set course and protect Runeterra, few can rival the Cosmic Vagabond.

Kindred: The Eternal Hunters are just that, eternally hunting, catching prey every second. Kindred are Death personified, Runeterra's own Grim Reaper. (No, it is not Karthus. He merely is infatuated with the concept of death, not the Reaper itself.) When a being on Runeterra dies, they have a choice: they can die peacefully by Lamb's arrow, or try to run from death and face Wolf's savage fangs. Completely immortal and the masters of death itself, Kindred can kill with a single arrow, chase a being to the ends of whatever world they are on, rip a being to shreds, stop death, and live in a realm akin to Purgatory, adjacent to the one that Runeterra is in. It is said that when no other beings left to hunt, the Lamb and the Wolf will finally hunt each other. Never one… Without the other.

My girlfriend made me a special gift for valentines Day. Sie knows that Twitch is my favorite champion in League. Unfortunately there is a lack of rat stuff in the Riot Games Merch, so she decided to create a statue on her own. He turned out to be a bit more fluffy, she liked him better that way :)

She put a lot of work and effort into this, so i decided to share it with you :)

H2WHAT? Season 2 Episode 5: Let me ROCC your World

Would it be alright if pinging a broken inhibitor told us how long it'd be before it respawned?

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 12:47 PM PST

Currently we have no real way of knowing, we just guesstimate and sometimes get hit/saved by the trollhibitor. It'd be nice if we could actually play around just how long we have until the inhibitor came back.

Something I did a while ago and thought it was funny

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 06:59 AM PST

The target dummies should have customizable stats.

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 12:51 AM PST

Doing DPS calculations on anything that has % HP damage is never realistic compared to an actual game because no target is going to have 10000 HP and 100 armor/mr. Optimizing builds on anything that builds liandries, bork, bloodrazor or has %Hp damage in the kit is not possible at the moment.

Also there should be a dummy that attacks you so you can optimize tank builds too.

Addressing challenges around IEM, the memories, the strife - Carmac

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 12:14 AM PST

Hello LoL reddit. We've had a challenging couple of weeks over at IEM team recently but we've received a lot of support and encouragement from here.

I wanted to take the time to reach out and write this to thank you for it and to address the general bits of feedback that I have read.

Intel Extreme Masters is a tournament with a legacy that predates LCS and has delivered a lot of amazing memories to LoL fans around the world. Moscow Five coming out of nowhere and beating TSM in Kiev, then winning the IEM World Championship in Germany, and this team's overall romance with IEM tournaments.

THE MEMORIES, THE CHAMPIONS

Remember xPeke's backdoor with Kassadin on Ocelote's SK Gaming in front of thousands of crazed fans at IEM Katowice in 2013? That was the first 10K+ stadium event in the western world, six months or so ahead of the Worlds finals at Staples Center. Gambit won that event beating Azubu Blaze in the final.

That same season KeyD beat the Koreans from Incredible Miracle and the infamous rapper performed on stage (I promise that was not my idea!).

Unicorns of Love pissing off TSM fans in San Jose, and the epic ARAM with the Korean style cast by the commentator team? Mark Fucking Cuban playing LoL the year later?! TSM winning in Katowice? Even THAT Scarra interview took place at IEM New York.

Next to the frustration of recent events, we gave you all of that. We also found some of the people whose voices you listen to watching competitive LoL these days.

THE PAINS, THE FIXES

That does not change the fact that we should have done with our 2016 events. Why haven't we? On the technical side, we've simply made errors.

We had too much esports going on last year in Katowice and stretched our focus a bit too thinly to guarantee success. LoL is on its own weekend this go round, with no distractions.

In Oakland our custom audio system and the fresh batch of PCs we got were only tested together during setup at the event (wasn't possible ahead of time). At the event you had to unplug and plug the thing back in because the audio would stop. Here's where the pauses came from. The bug was fixed.

Gyeonggi was completely perfect, except the one hiccup at the start. I won't go into details on this one other than I don't believe it was ESL's fault.

Those are not excuses, those are reasons why things that shouldn't have happened happened. Reading feedback throughout those events has been difficult since we are interested in delivering a perfect product as much as you are interested in receiving one.

THE TEAMS, THE DROPOUTS

Where we could have done better, but also got unlucky, were the lineups for our events. We set up a new format (which was well received here) and we doubled the prize money for 2017 to make the events more attractive to teams.

We had never had any notable problems getting teams to play at IEM events before, but the circumstances did not pan out very well for us. As you know, the LCS NA format changed to the point where teams played more than ever, especially top teams. Reginald was talking about it in an interview with Travis at Yahoo.

The teams that did not seem like they were eligible to play at IEM planned vacations and the teams that did well at Worlds wanted to decide after Worlds to see how they felt. They mostly felt like taking a rest and /or were focused on finding the right player roster for 2017 without being rushed to it.

On top of this, the situation in NA has become rather stressful for the teams in LCS since Riot announced that they were exploring various models of how LCS will operate, including the so-called franchise model for NA (and different potential models elsewhere). Because of this, the single highest priority of teams in NA is to stay in the league and place as high as possible. Losing an LCS spot forever literally means a loss of value upwards of $1,000,000 (and much more than that should franchising become a reality). That is nothing compared to the gain from first place in an IEM event, especially that the money mostly goes to players.

The above is the reason I think many of the NA teams have chosen not to replace Cloud9 after they withdrew. Everyone wants to have the strongest LCS season they can, because it could be their last. That's not a fact, that's an assumption among a few team owners based on the rumors going around. Whether or not the rumors are true and results in 2017 determine if you get to stay in LCS forever, I do not know. Teams from Europe were much, much easier to attract to our events in comparison.

I would not put too much blame on the teams – I can only imagine the stress associated with the potential of relegation from LCS. It's not like we couldn't have done better on our end, though. We now have a very good idea of what we should have done to give us a better chance of attracting teams and what we would want to do in the future. There's a place for a good international tournament out there, one that any top team would die to go to. (I won't go into details of that since this needs to be discussed between Riot and ESL instead of a public forum.)

CONCLUSION

All in all, it's been a bumpy road and I hope it's going to be smooth sailing from now on. We've given you some great memories and, more recently, things to beat us over the head with. We are committed to making the event in Katowice a success. The first two days will happen in our Katowice studio (expect it to be a bit less lavish than the LCS studios), followed by the playoffs on Saturday and Sunday in Spodek. Tickets are nearly all sold out – it should be a great event again.

As usual, we will monitor reddit for your feedback. Hit me up on Twitter at @mbCARMAC for more direct conversation. And for every instance that we drop the ball, I will donate 10% of my end year bonus to a charity in Poland.

Thank you for reading this wall of text and thank you for the support. See you soon!

P.S. We will server those damned ads because we don't generate revenue off of RP :). But we will try to spread them out well!

EDG’s offical explanation to the failed IEM visa application incident

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 04:45 AM PST

Link to EDG official Weibo: http://www.weibo.com/5235726837/EwreZftP2?filter=hot&root_comment_id=0&type=comment

Translation:

We received the official invite from IEM on 27 January 2017 (Chinese New Year's eve), and begin preparing application materials. Due to the very tight time limit and busy LPL training and competition schedules, we can only choose to apply for visas from Shanghai.* (* Chinese official regulations for application of Visas to other countries normally require the applicant to apply from the province of/nearest to his birthplace. Therefore, if someone is born in Beijing, he will have to apply for a visa from Beijing embassy instead of applying from Shanghai, for example, even if he lives in Shanghai.)

According to the requirements of the Polish embassy for application and supporting materials, our team, with the help of travel agencies, split into three groups and made three separate appointments to make the application. During these appointments, we were told that those who are not born in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai or Anhui provinces will have to provide additional proof of residential status ** (** i.e. to prove that they now live in these 4 provinces).

We contacted IEM as soon as we found out about this, and IEM said that they will also do their best to assist us. Though we have made all preparations for the event, and also provided the bookings of plane tickets and hotel reservations, until the eve of 17 Feburuary, we still have not received any confirmation that our visa will be granted. We very regretfully had to inform IEM that we could not attend this year.

Though we cannot be part of the event, we do wish that all participating teams and players will achieve good results, and that IEM Worlds will be successful!

Thank you for understanding.

* for background information, and also, EDG stressing Chinese New Year's eve is also to say that there will be about a week's unavoidable delay, as the whole country celebrates usually for a week and everyone's on holiday.
