"Bet they don't anything as terrifying as Yao Guai back where you come from, huh?" Posted: 19 Feb 2017 11:21 PM PST Fuck you Follows-Chalk. Fuck you. Did you go into Quarry Junction and get one-shotted three times in a row before you realized waltzing into a Deathclaw nest with leather armor and a hunting rifle at level 14 wasn't the best idea? Did you ever go north from Goodsprings and get slaughtered by giant radscorpions while desperately shooting at them with an upgraded plasma pistol? Did you ever get surrounded by Cazadores and use 15 antivenoms at once just to survive? I don't need your shit, Follows-Chalk. [link] [comments] |

What game company, besides Obsidian and Bethesda, would you want to make a Fallout game? Posted: 20 Feb 2017 04:19 AM PST I'm not saying take over the franchise, but maybe make one or two spin-offs like Obsidian did. Personally I would have to choose BioWare. They do great story telling and make awesome RPGs IMO, and I feel like they would have a ball with the fallout franchise and it's wacky characters, factions, and world. How about you guys? Still excited for Project Brazil! Posted: 20 Feb 2017 10:38 AM PST After playing the first part of this mod for New Vegas, I was blown away. Incredibly well made mod. I've been foaming at the mouth forever waiting on the second installment. Is anyone else still on the hype train awaiting its arrival? [link] [comments] |
Disguises would be great in the next Fallout Posted: 20 Feb 2017 12:53 PM PST TL:DR I want Fallout to mix with Hitman Want to kill a quest target surrounded by guards without raising the alarm? Then prepare to shoot someone, run away for 30 seconds, then rinse and repeat. It would be cool if I could take the clothes of a dead enemy and use it to waltz right into the enemy commander's office where I proceed to du,p the bucketloads of Rat Poison I'm carrying into their can of purified water and his plate of brahmin meat. I mean look at the first Radiant Quest in FO4. It says "clear out Corvega Assembly Plant" but all you have to do is kill the Raider leader there. I guess the settlers assume a dead leader will make the rest clear off. Such a mission could be so much more exciting if FO4 had mechanics somewhat like: * Enemies patrol in a cycle pattern. * Wear all the armor of a group and they won't shoot you unless you shoot them first. * There are 3 enemy types. Grunt, Officer and Leader. Officers can see thru Grunt Disguises. Leaders can see through Officer Disguises. * In the Leader's office is a can of purified water/plate of Brahmin meat they occasionally drink/eat from. Food and water is around the building that different minions eat from. * You can put poison into it, and they will die the next time they eat. On a side note, there are actually multiple Raider groups in the Commonwealth with their own minions, backstories and leaders. It would be nice to see different clothes for each Raider group. Your thoughts? Would you like some Hitman-esque mechanics in a future Fallout? [link] [comments] |
Stuck in Fallout 2 and the wiki isn't very helpful Posted: 20 Feb 2017 01:47 PM PST No spoilers please. I'm at San Francisco. I have retrieved the Vertibird plans from Navarro and given them to the Shi and the BOS. I have killed the Hubologist leader and met the "emperor" of the Shi. And now I'm stuck. I don''t know where I'm supposed to go next. [link] [comments] |
Community Project, Week 1: Location - where would you like the next fallout game to be? Posted: 20 Feb 2017 08:49 AM PST Good day, wastelanders! As you know, last week I announced I'd be starting a weekly 'community project', where we all work together to create a design document for what we believe should be the next Fallout game. And, naturally, the first thing you need to know when you're making a game is where it's gonna be! So here's how its gonna work. Everyone is allowed to post their location idea, and the top 5 upvoted locations will be put into a poll I'll release this Friday! The top voted location in the poll will become the 'official' location for the Community Fallout, and the next weekly portion of the project will begin on Monday, just like this one. Naturally, there are a few requirements and notes for suggesting. I'll list them below.
Alright, that covers it! And remember, everywhere in America is fair game! Suggest away, and I'll see y'all again Friday for the poll! [link] [comments] |
Pipboy Project Pt. 2 - Software Demo Posted: 20 Feb 2017 04:28 AM PST |
Compound bow in cut content apparently? Posted: 20 Feb 2017 02:51 PM PST Why does Bethesda cut out the coolest stuff? Arrows could be easily craftable, and the bow would be silent compared to guns. I know there are crossbow mods available, but still this frustrates me. Don't get me started on the severe lack of underwater content (Quests, creatures, loot, quests)😐 [link] [comments] |

[spoilers] A question regarding regarding the BoS and Railroad Posted: 20 Feb 2017 11:19 AM PST Is it possible to play the Bos Questline up to where we find out Danse is a synth but keep him as companion and then complete the railroad quest line fully [link] [comments] |
Don't mess with Danse's Power Armor (spoilers) Posted: 19 Feb 2017 10:41 PM PST I picked a side that wasn't the Brotherhood so had to destroy them. So, as I suspected, Danse isn't so happy with that. In fact, he won't even speak to me, literally. I talk to him, "Hey Danse...", nothing. Good stuff, straight cold shoulder. So, of course, I want your sweet X01 power armor buddy. Couldn't pickpocket the core, so that's a bummer. Only one option left, attack. Went for the core of course, and luckily caused it to go critical. Great, he gets out of it (explosion didn't kill him, Palladins are sturdy mofo's apparently). Finish him off and have companion get in to fast travel with me back to base. It's only at this point I realize his PA is rather interesting. It has no inventory. Like, you know how you look at a PA and the pieces it has on it are an inventory, you can "exchange" and remove the pieces, etc. That wasn't the case with Danse's armor, it was a completely empty inventory, even though there's pieces on it. However, its legs were damaged/destroyed in the core explosion, and I was able to place new legs on there, so its inventory was working. But don't try to craft on it. Ooooh boy. Like a final revenge from Danse. Soon as I put it in the PA Rack and clicked "craft", boom, crash to desktop! Just nope, not gonna happen. Gotta love these little things. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2017 08:42 AM PST I got like 20k caps but it seems there's no worth buying guns around. Should i just stop bothering hoarding items to sell? The side quests are too time consuming with bothering with looting. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2017 03:32 PM PST I'm almost 100% certain there is a catch to doing the old guns quest where I can't go further with the brotherhood or something or I'm supposed to do another quest first. Please someone help me out and tell me what it is (assuming I'm right about this) don't worry about spoilers I've beat the game with every faction before, I just forgot. [link] [comments] |
[FO4] Recreating default PA color in the settings menu? Posted: 20 Feb 2017 11:28 AM PST I saw a thread about it from over a year ago but there was no answer there. I'm aware that a lot of people don't like the vanilla PA HUD color but it would help when I'm on my BoS character and hopping outside of my power armor real quick to do some trading just to keep the colors consistent and plus i just like it. So what color setting would allow me to most accurately match the color of being inside power armor? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Feb 2017 09:58 PM PST Okay bear with me here as I try to keep this as brief as possible, and forgive me if someone else has posted about this before, I haven't seen it if they have.. Essentially, I believe that the strongest/"best" ending for Fallout 4 from a storytelling perspective is very clearly the Brotherhood ending. Why do I think that? I. The Sole Survivor's POV It's important to remember that the SS is a product of pre-war America above all. In fact, Nate, Nora, and Shaun are pretty much the poster family for patriotic, solidly middle-class Americans in that society--heck, Nate was a semi-famous war hero even. Now remember that the pre-war US as a whole was also solidly fascist (think annexing Canada, unethical experiments on humans, etc.), and for right or wrong the SS was obviously comfortable within the status quo. What does that tell us about the game's endings? II. Some endings don't make sense The Institute: given the SS's backstory, it's implausible to think that they would just forgive the institute for murdering the love of their life/kidnapping their baby after what was essentially a few 'weeks' at most.. Also the SS isn't a scientist either way, much less an unethical one with nefarious schemes in mind. This is the least likely of the main quest endings to become canon, I think. Railroad: definitely has noble aspirations that the SS could recognize as a potential pet cause, to be sure, but ultimately they live in filth and are uniquely suited as wastelanders to understand or simply tolerate the various robots, raiders, ghoulies and cronenberg creatures that share the Commonwealth. Not sure why the SS would feel compelled to join them long term. Minutemen: mostly same as above and fine as a pet cause, but having them blow up the Prydwen is highly unlikely to be canon I think, for reasons I'll explain later. That all being said, I don't think that the SS is a dimwitted jackboot necessarily, but in my opinion those endings aren't satisfying from a storytelling perspective. On the other hand.. III. The Brotherhood makes sense For all of its many faults, the BOS as an organization clearly represents the most compelling and natural choice for someone like the SS--and particularly Nate with his military experience. They are well organized, well fed, well educated, well quartered... the list goes on and on. Their cultish behaviors would seem strange of course, but I imagine a person fresh outta 2077 would be perfectly comfortable in the sky away from all the literal monsters. If anything this is the closest possible return to the status quo for an 'average' pre-war person, and I don't see any reason why we should assume the SS wouldn't want that. (And I mean, say what you want about the tenets of the codex, dude, at least it's an ethos...) Ultimately though I will concede that this is all just conjecture going forward--feel free to tell me if you disagree with any of it--but there is one glaring reason why the Prydwen will absolutely, 10000% survive Fallout 4, at the very least... IV. The BOS/Maxson aren't finished Bethesda has made a concerted effort to build on the knightly mythos of the BOS, and particularly with Elder Maxson, who is widely accepted to be a parallel of King Arthur. I think that much is clear--so why on earth would Bethesda have Maxson die prematurely and unceremoniously aboard the Prydwen? Moreover, if the east coast chapter is blown out of the sky, then the Brotherhood as a whole will be toothless going forward (the west coast chapter is clearly in decline in FNV). It would make absolutely no sense for Bethesda to kill off an iconic element of this series like they're an afterthought, especially for the sake of the boring minutemen who most likely won't even appear in any games not set in Boston... So where does this leave us? V. Le Morte d'Arthur Maxson My theory: Bethesda obviously knows everything I've already said--Maxson is a blatant parallel of King Arthur, and with Maxson goes the whole Brotherhood--thus the next sequel could very well be centered around deciding the fate of Maxson and the Brotherhood itself. This has been a long time coming for the Fallout series, as the BOS have always been at the periphery of the main storyline without getting their fair shake. I see it like this: Maxson is only 20 as of the events of Fallout 4, and his branch of the BOS is very much alive and well. With a little help from the SS, it could reasonably expand across the east coast in the years to come (thus allowing for the obligatory change of setting and jump in time). Now this is where things get interesting, because jumping 20 years or so in the future would allow for a real Le Morte d'Arthur situation: [spoiler] King Arthur gets killed by his illegitimate (and incestuous!) son Mordred. Could the protagonist of Fallout 5 be Elder Maxson's illegitimate child, who will ultimately decide his fate and thus the fate of the Brotherhood? Who knows, but you have to admit it would be cooler than the friggin minutemen... TL/DR I. Sole Survivor isn't from 2017 or 2287; we need to consider the narrative from his/her unique perspective. II. Institute = bananas, railroad = small time, Minutemen = jabronis III. Brotherhood = gung-ho jocks in power armor who are uninterested in diversity but are actually capable of building ceilings without holes in them, or pre-war America in a nutshell IV. Maxson = King Arthur & Brotherhood = doomed without Maxson. Bethesda probably isn't stupid enough to forget that V. Maxson's & the Brotherhood's story culminates in Fallout 5; BOS possibly the big baddies for once?? Beats me [link] [comments] |
What are your undisputed top three most memorable moments from Fallout 3? Posted: 20 Feb 2017 03:00 PM PST As in the three personal moments that instantly come to mind when you remember the game that returned Fallout to the spotlight. They can be anything from memorable quests to completely unscripted events that are unique to you and your playthrough. Here's mine.
Honorable mention: Laying siege to the Mall and the Capital Building towards the end of the game. Fighting through the trenches filled with super mutants, then up the stairs of the Capital building into a three way battle between Talon Company, the defending mutants, and an incoming squad of Enclave on a vertibird. The fights spills into the Capital and boom. A fucking behemoth. How'd he get in here? Who cares. Everyone shoot it! [link] [comments] |
Not receiving XP at higher levels in FO4? Posted: 20 Feb 2017 02:38 AM PST So I'm currently sitting at Lv87 and I've been noticing more frequently that I'm not receiving any XP for about 5-10% of my kills. Just now I Sneak Attack Criticaled a Suicidal Mutant with my Guass and killed him in one hit. No XP was rewarded. [link] [comments] |
