Blizzard, please put Sorry emotes in the Hall of Fame so they can be used in Wild only

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 07:52 PM PST

This would increase the number of Wild players by 10000%.

Adrian, it's Paul. I know you're probably browsing this sub right now. You are....

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 10:57 PM PST

an asshole dude. I told you I was focused on Starcraft. I told you I didn't have time to move to a new game. I told you I don't play many games other than Souls games and Starcraft. I told you I hate mobile games. I told you I hate games that offer the ability to pay with real money. I told you I feel like most card based games are Yu-Gi-Oh or Magic rip offs. I made fun of you for playing a children's game. And yet it's almost 1am and I've been playing since 8pm.

But in all seriousness guys, this game went far beyond my expectations for it when I started (which was only a couple of days ago.) I just wanted to leave a post saying hello to you guys even though this will almost definitely be taken down. When I become enthralled in something I always ask and converse on its subreddit and I hope you guys are one of the more helpful subs!

A Better Way to Improve Arena: Overdraft

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 09:00 AM PST

Here's an idea that I think would greatly improve Arena in a way that is simple, fun, and doesn't require the removal of wild cards.

Here is what I envision:

  1. When you draft for arena, you draft 40 cards instead of 30.
  2. When you are done drafting, your deck appears as a 5 page mini-collection
  3. You pick 30 cards to use in your deck.
  4. You may alter your deck between games.

The benefits:

  1. Drafting cards is fun, and drafting more cards would be more fun.
  2. Simplicity: The process expands on existing game mechanics, requiring no new learning or special knowledge (mage players will not have to "just know," for example, that they are 50% less likely to pick up a flame strike, or that card rarities will not be accurate).
  3. Picking synergy cards isn't punished. You can pick up combo cards and then ditch them if you get to the end of the draft and don't have the dependent pieces.
  4. More skill is required in the drafting process, both in deciding which cards to keep and in how to modify your deck as you play.

(Edit: As some people have commented, perhaps 40 cards is too many--35 might be better. The exact number isn't super important though as that's an issue for testing.)

The absolute importance of the first expansion in the year.

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 06:11 AM PST

"Whispers of the Old Gods" marked the beginning for the "Year of the Kraken" and now we have (rumours) the "Lost Secrets of Un'Goro" which will bring the "Year of the Mammoth".

The thing is, this expansions are the ones that stay for the longest time (while "Mean Streets of Gadgetzan" has the shortest spawn of life). We can compare this expansions to "The Grand Tournament" which has stayed for a little more than a year. This expansion didn't really have a big impact on the meta-game (except for shaman which became viable and later on, dominant with "League of Explorers") inspire didn't took off, joust didn't took off, it was a whiff. And yes, secret paladin. This means the expansion that marks the begginning of a standard year needs to be a strong one, with many different deck-defining legendaries.

This is something "Whispers of the Old Gods" did very well, in my opinion, sure with the Priest being my favorite class I haven't been particularly happy but hey, Whispers brought so many different ways to build decks. N'zoth being my personal favorite but every Old God saw some play (even "Y'shaarj Rage Unbound", albeit a lot less). So now we have this new expansion which will stay until 2019, that's a long, long time. So it's gotta be as crazy, if not more, than "Whispers" if it's as bland as "The Grand Tournament" I think we'll find ourselves in a real stale meta. Sure, every expansion should be a real shake but take "Mean Streets", it'll only be around for a little more than a year so at worst we'll have Jade filled games for some months.

There's another interesting point that could be made though, maybe the first expansion of the year needs to be a bit more like "The Grand Tournament", not as strong but with a lot of "sleeper" cards that will open up great decks as new expansions come out (think of "Aviana", for example).

I don't really know, personally I think we should see more expansions like "Whispers". But maybe I'm biased because I love "N'zoth the Corruptor" so much.

6 Emotes to use, but X Emotes to choose from!

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 07:00 AM PST

How cool would it be if you could choose the Emotes you want to use by yourself?

For example we would be able to choose from 12 Emotes (f.e. "Greetings", "Thanks", "Well played", "Sorry!", "Oops", "Threaten", "Sing", "Joke", "Bark", "Whistle", "Good turn" and "Bye") and in the options menu, we can pick(or "favor") 6 Emotes to use.

Soundboard for every legendary

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 01:50 AM PST

Hey,

I recently had an assignment for school to make a soundboard. My idea then was to make a soundboard about hearthstone with every legendary in the game included. I just finished the final tweaks today, and I'm pretty happy with the results.

I know it's not perfect, but I like it none of the less.

Without further ado here is the result: soundboard

I would like to hear some feedback, and this will be updated with every new expansion/nerf.

Edit: Sadly enough my hosting doesn't support this kind of CPU usage so the site will be down for a while. But as soon as I find a good hosting for this site it will be live again.

Are there any downsides to allow us to always be able to complete quests with friends?

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 02:08 AM PST

It seems to me there isn't really any major downsides to allowing us to continue to do quests with friends. People might be able to buy more packs with gold being that they are doing more quests so in turn they aren't buying as many packs with real money but even then that's not a huge deal to me. Are there major downsides that i'm not thinking of to make it a permanent feature?

Always wanted the Heroic Cardbacks but felt too lazy to go for it? The guide series are here! Starting with Naxxramas.

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 10:48 AM PST

Hey guys Sigma here from Good Gaming!

I am very happy to present to you guys probably one of my most anticipated article series, the Heroic Adventure Guides! The guides will present the bosses, their powers, useful tips for beating them and last but not least, the decks to beat them with! I included the new cards in some of the well known decks proven to work against the bosses and made them even more efficient.

We are going to be releasing Part 1 and Part 2 of the Curse of Naxxramas this week, so stay tuned on my Twitter to know exactly when it goes live! Without further ado, here is part 1! https://www.good-gaming.com/guide/877

I can't wait to see your comments! I also coach so I would also be willing to spectate someone for a fight or two free of charge when I have time, because we all deserve that shiny cardback!

What is your favorite mediocre card?

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 06:48 AM PST

There are so many card that are deemed mediocre, either due to them being too slow, too situational, poorly stat'd, but many of those cards do have one thing. flavor . My favorite mediocre card hands down is Wrathion. It is so poorly stat'd, but has potential to be absolutely amazing. Most of the time its not, but whenever you get a second draw off of him its orgasmic.

We've had Baron Rivendare and Brann Bronzebeard, how about...

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 03:17 AM PST

How about a card that causes your triggered affects to trigger twice?

I.e. the likes of "At the end of your turn" or "When you cast a spell" etc.

With Cards like Rag moving out of Standard it might be an interesting addition.

Up the chance of Legendaries and epics

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 02:09 PM PST

With the new change of an expansion instead of an adventure where you would get guaranteed legendaries, surely it would be fair to increase the chance to pack legendaries and epics with the bigger card pool.

Even if it means reducing the pity timer so you get them more frequently.

Arena players: Are you happy with the switch to Standard?

Posted: 22 Feb 2017 09:07 AM PST

This thread is just to discuss the move to the Standard format in Arena. Personally, I am quite sad we can't choose from all the cards in the game. I am hoping if enough people care Blizzard might reconsider this change, however unlikely that is.
