Introducing the Fallout Network Discord server! Posted: 23 Jan 2017 11:30 AM PST Hello all! We hope that 2017 has been good to you all so far. I'm here to announce the public launch of the official Fallout Network Discord server! Firstly, what is the Fallout Network? It's a co-operative effort between a number of the main Fallout subreddits, with the goal of linking together some of the major Fallout Subreddits that share similar traits. This allows you as a valued resident to navigate between the subreddits easier while giving access to shared resources. These include the extremely extensive bugfix and modding guides written and updated by /u/Cyrus224! The invite link can be found here and will not expire. This server is intended to facilitate live chat about both general topics and Fallout specific ones. The server has the following chat rooms:
Due to Discord lacking a proper report system, we are using /r/fallout modmail as the nexus of any reports. A template message is linked within the #welcome room, and we ask that you use this and provide evidence if none of us are online to witness whatever you are reporting. We will also be hiring members of the user community as moderators, to assist us server admins in the day-to-day running of the server. This will take place some time within the next few weeks. Stay tuned! If there are any technical issues, please ping one of the Overseers or Vault Assistants to make us aware of the issue. Regards, Shaka1277 [link] [comments] |

The more I mature the more I understand Fallout New Vegas Posted: 21 Feb 2017 12:03 PM PST When I first played the game I was pretty young, my knowledge of the setting was pretty limited, besides I was playing in english while my mother tongue is Spanish. I simply was naive, I couldn't see the blatant corruption that plagued the NCR. To me they were a group of rebuilders that were attempting to bring law and democracy to the Mojave. The first ending that I ever got was with them, which I followed and defended everywhere I went. Several years afterwards I played again, this time with a more level headed viewpoint. This time I understood more the corruption and phrases that were used to describe how shitty the republic really was. In this occasion I understood that even if they had good intentions they weren't the best for the Mojave Wasteland and that Mr. House had worked all his life and beyond for a city that was truly a jewel upon a sea of junk. In this time I followed him ( heck, I even roleplayed as a girl who blindly believed to be Mr.House's great great great great great great granddaughter ). Same thing happened a few years later and now, even more mature and with a different way of seeing the world I played once more. In this time my player was more pragmatic and even nationalistic to a degree, he believed that all the three powerhouses, House, NCR and Legion didn't deserve to stay in the Mojave and much less in Vegas because they were foreigners who were completely out of touch with the situation. The people of the desert were living with enough hardships already and the least they needed now was some jerks who warred a war on their lands. This time I went with independent and boy it felt good. To me New Vegas is a game that grew up along with me, and for that it will have a very special place in my heart. I doubt I will do the Legion ending thought, fuck them sideways. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 09:44 AM PST This past January 2017, APM Music no longer has the rights to the Carlin Archive Series. https://support.apmmusic.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2639195-carlin-cpm-transition http://www.warnerchappellpm.com/cpm-archive-series/ All of the songs on the Mysterious broadcast can be heard in the base game as background music in the casinos, but most people heard them on the radio in Old World Blues as part of the Mysterious broadcast. The affected songsThese songs were part of the Carlin catalog:
The following was also licensed from Carlin, but not heard on the Mysterious Broadcast: "I'm So Blue" - Katie Thompson - Country Music 4 (Carlin 319) This change has not gone unnoticed elsewhere. Spongebob and Ren & Stimpy have used the same kind of production music as background music. Many of the same artists in Fallout also appear in these cartoons. http://www.sbmania.net/forums/topic/56694-carlincpm-albums-removed-from-apm-website/ What usually happens when Fallout loses access to a music catalog?Usually Bethesda does not license further music from that catalog. This has happened before with the demise of Soundies Inc. and the transfer of their catalog to The Orchard. These include "Dear Hearts and Gentle People", "Way Back Home", "Happy Times", "A Wonderful Guy", "Mad About the Boy", "Stars of the Midnight Range", "Hangover Heart". With the company going defunct and the archivist passing away between New Vegas and 4, Bethesda did not license further music from this company's catalog. What made these songs unique was that they literally haven't been heard in 50 years because they were taken from enormous 16 inch radio transcription discs, a very obscure format. Does Bethesda have experience using Warner/Chappell?One track has been used called "Picnic Prattle" for the Fallout 3 trailer. http://www.warnerchappellpm.com/sw/fallout-3-trailer/ It was actually used in a 1950s PSA as well as an episode of Pee Wee Herman. No further stock music tracks have been licensed from Warner/Chappell. Some of the vintage songs are licensed from the non-production music branch of Warner/Chappell. Other notes on the stock music used in New Vegas: The other tracks from the Mysterious broadcast are by Gerhard Trede and were licensed from the Sonoton catalog along with the Lost Weekend Swing Band's "In the Shadow of the Valley", "Lone Star", and "Let's Ride into the Sunset Together". As for the rest of the stock music used in New Vegas, they were licensed from other music catalogs that all fall under the APM umbrella. Bert Weedon's music was licensed under the KPM branch of APM. "Slow Sax" was licensed from Kosinus. All other stock music tracks are licensed from the Bruton catalog. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Feb 2017 02:23 PM PST Again I am kinda new to the whole Fallout franchise and me being me I didn't think about watching a tutorial on perks and how to manage them and what's the best to pick, from various different videos, Reddit posts and steam forums it has been said that intelligence is the one to focus on and I have in fact maxed out my intelligence however I didn't realise that you needed to go down to choose the other perks in the intelligence category and when I go to the second intelligence perk it says INTL 1 required and I'm INTL 10 and have the INTL 10 perk. Is there a way I can get the others in the intelligence category at level 10 intelligence or have I just screwed myself by maxing out first before getting other perks? TLDR: maxed out my intelligence, can I get lower INTL perks while being maxed out? [link] [comments] |

The Future of FO: Not another FO4 complaint thread Posted: 21 Feb 2017 01:04 PM PST Hey Folks, So while people have differing opinions on FO4 vs earlier iterations of the game I'm curious what mechanics you think FO4 improved and would you like to see Bethesda keep in the development of the next FO game? Also, are there any mechanics from previous FO games that you would want to see reintroduced into the next FO game that were missing from FO4? Though I admit it may be difficult based on how passionately many of us feel about the FO franchise, please try to include at least some positive constructive feedback in your replies, thanks! In terms of my own perspective here are a few examples
A few things that I would like to see brought back from older iterations of FO:
Though not all of my points I figure it is a good place to get started. What would you like to see included mechanics wise in the next FO game? [link] [comments] |
My husband is a fallout junkie and hasn't played NV. Posted: 21 Feb 2017 08:39 AM PST I just bought it for him and he's finding it slow to start, story wise. He switched to crazy hours at work so he hasn't been logging too many hours on the Xbox. He's pretty rusty currently. He's still pretty early in the game to jump to any judgements, but is there any certain point where it really takes off and sucks you in? [link] [comments] |
Wall Mounted Bottle Cap Opener? Posted: 21 Feb 2017 09:55 AM PST Hey folks I'm trying to find an interesting bottle opener that can be mounted to the wall at my home. I'd love something fallout related [Nuka-Cola or otherwise] but i'm not finding anything online. Anyone know of a place that has/can do this? USA preferably [link] [comments] |
Fallout New Vegas Mods Not Showing Up? Posted: 21 Feb 2017 02:30 PM PST When fnv was not working I redownloaded it and also move NMM. NMM detects fnv but no mods show up when I play [link] [comments] |
Need help with final boss of Fallout 2 Posted: 21 Feb 2017 10:15 AM PST There's no way I can win in a straight up fight. I managed to convince those Enclave soldiers near the door to help me. The main problem is the turrets. The terminal to reprogram them doesn't work. I have the presidential access key but it doesn't do shit all. When I log onto the computer I have no options to reprogram the turrets. Any help? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Feb 2017 09:11 AM PST Hi, is there a way I can disable, as in completely remove, all NPCs in FO4? I would like to just wander the wasteland and not have to kill creatures or be bothered by people striking up conversations. Or a mod that does this. My googlefu fails me. [link] [comments] |
Is it possible that the Chosen One and James (Dad) could be the same person? Posted: 21 Feb 2017 11:24 AM PST I want to roleplay that Dad and the Chosen One are the same people, but is this possible? What age would he be at the start of Fallout 2? Also I'd have to complete his story in two years for the start of Fallout 3 (I'll have his son, or daughter, I'll decide when the time comes, continue his legacy.) What would his starting perk be, if any? What would his tag skills be? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Feb 2017 07:05 AM PST Hey there First of all, I am well aware that the fallout universe is very much into the 1950s Americana and pretty much everthing related to it. However, I would still find it really, really great to get a game from the other side of the Pacific. Getting a look at how it was in China, what America did there, and so on. This would also allow for much, much more new lore, of course. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
I lost Piper and Nick Valentine Posted: 21 Feb 2017 02:34 PM PST Yeah so I think I accidentally sent them to the wrong settlement, I've tried to look for them but can't find them anywhere. What do I do lol [link] [comments] |
Two questions about the institute? (Spoilers) Posted: 21 Feb 2017 01:27 PM PST When they ask if you want to develop weapons or more synths, does that have any actual effect? Also how do they power that generator without the buriliam agitatator? If you go with the railroad/Minutemen I can see them getting it. But if you go brotherhood, you use it for liberty prime so how do they get it up and going? [link] [comments] |
