Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update for 2/14/17 (2/15/17 UTC 1.35.6.7)

Posted: 14 Feb 2017 04:01 PM PST

Via the CS:GO blog:

SERVERS

  • Reduced per-client memory use by sharing network buffers.
  • Increased entities delta buffers to 192Kb to support connecting to game modes with many entities (sv_delta_entity_full_buffer_size on the server can be used to increase it up to 256Kb if needed)
  • Added a better error message for clients explaining the too many entities on the server error.
  • Added more functionality for community log address integration.
  • Log address can now be sent an 18-character prefix before every log packet text
  • logaddress_add_ex command will use a unique prefix token per instance for the added log address
  • logaddress_token_secret and logaddress_add_ts allow to add prefix as a checksum of known secret string
  • Added a message for "killed by the bomb" to the logs.

MISC

  • Teams can now vote on team issues independently.
  • Fixed sleeves interpenetrating gloves
  • Spectator's player glow values have been adjusted to make noise-making state transitions more noticeable.

OSX

  • Fixed CSM boundary artifacts on Iris based Macbook pro.

MAPS

Overpass

  • Added grenade-clip to ceiling underneath Bombsite A and inside connector, to prevent molotovs spreading into areas above

Cobblestone

  • Removed support beam in drop room which blocked line of sight to drop/door

Nuke

  • Fixed see-through gap when jump-peeking from CT spawn towards Mini
  • Fixed various bugs reported on CSGOBugTracker.com

Cache

  • Fixed model fade distance on truck in CT spawn

Rumor has it:

  • Sorry, no sign of "Operation 8" - on February 17th (18th UTC), we will hit 1 year since Operation Wildfire was released

  • Separatist sleeve models were updated (which would be the sleeves impenetrating gloves fix): https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/7b276679d4ec7807363fe09c9d15d86de5392f84

  • Icons to accompany China's anti-addiction system as part of CS:GO in China (published by Perfect World) have been added. Icons are green, yellow, and red, resembling a traffic signal light

    • This system first appeared as part of the 12/7/16 (12/8/16 UTC) update. For those unaware of what happens with each level, green means you get full profile experience, yellow means you get half profile experience, red means you get no profile experience for at least 5 hours
    • Some additional restrictions on settings have been implemented when under Perfect World influence (which you can simulate using "-perfectworld" in launch options)
  • Size is ~110 MB

ELI5: Why are spinbots not auto-detected or atleast kicked for 'improper play'.

Posted: 14 Feb 2017 12:53 PM PST

I mean.. a little aim data analysis over couple of rounds can easily tell you if the user is spinning and randomly hitting targets or not.

And if someone does it on purpose (legit spinning with high sens), they deserve to get kicked anyway because its sort of griefing.

EDIT: Nice, people downvoting without explaining. Very mature reddit.

Dear CSGO player, your CROSSHAIR is NOT misaligned

Posted: 13 Feb 2017 10:53 PM PST

Hey,

So due to the thread about the crosshairmisalignment I had to say something.

  1. It's laughable to claim the shot of the deagle player didn't hit, because his crosshair was misaligned. Even if this wouldn't be BS and your crosshair is truly misaligned for a pixel, this single pixel isn't enough to not let this shot hit at that distance.

  2. You all seem to forget that there is NO center pixel on your screen. The center of your screen is the 4 pixels in the exact middle of your screen. And if you shoot, with 100% accuracy, the shot will look like it lands on the bottom right of the 4 center pixels, and this is just visually. The shot will always land in the exact middle of those 4 pixels.

  3. And this is why it simply doesn't matter which crosshairthickness you use, unless you use 0(.5) because this one is just 1 pixel wide and therefore can't show you the exact middle of the screen --> see EDIT. Same goes for the crosshair of the awp. It doesn't show you the exact middle of our screen because it's just a pixel wide and there is no center pixel.

EDIT: or basically any crosshair that's an uneven amount of pixels wide (which is exaclty what OP recommends in his awesome thread) - thanks /u/vaynebot.

This shit has been discussed a year ago already.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/3vsip1/crosshairthickness_1_2_3_will_lead_to_a/

Result was it's just bullshit so I don't know why you people open the topic again.

There's just 3 reasons said deagle shot didn't hit: https://gfycat.com/AstonishingFoolishIlladopsis

  1. connection issues
  2. enemy was alt-tabbed
  3. the deagle needs to be looked at

So please remove this shitthread from the frontpage and don't misinform thousands of people.

Thanks.

How many people on this subreddit have never played a CS game before CS:GO?

Posted: 14 Feb 2017 11:57 AM PST

I'm interested in learning more about how "skill" transfers between CS games. I personally have not played any CS games before I played CS:GO, as I did not get into FPS games until just a few years ago. It seems like most of the people here have a lot of experience with other CS games, and as I want to improve, I am wondering if anyone would recommend to try playing an older CS game such as Source for a while and if that would help my CS:GO game.

What experience do you guys have with other CS games? Did it help your CS:GO game a lot, or are they too different?

Potential New Official Maps coming to CS:GO

Potential New Official Maps coming to CS:GO

Preamble:

Valve have never been one for direct communication, about future content; however we've seen many "leaks" over the last few years for CS:GO and, like many of the TF2 leaks, some of these "leaks" within CS:GO have actually come to fruition. In 2016, gloves, sprays and the new Inferno all had many references scattered around the game-files long before they were actually released. A fair word of warning, not all of the (potential) content leaked will see the light of day, many concepts seem to have been scrapped entirely. Alternate "equipable C4 models" (like the different knives), the Tac-21, the MP5, a competitive redesign of de_vostok (called de_balkan), along with many others, have all been hinted at for a long time now, with no release date in sight. Much of the content you read about below, will potentially never be released, so please bare that in mind.

With that out of the way, here are the potential new maps:

de_canals:

You have probably already heard about de_canals, it was hinted at last year and has cropped up on numerous occasions. Previously, many sound references were found under the file name "canals"; initially these were thought to be linked to Inferno however as of October 2016 the name de_canals appeared in the "mapautocompile.txt" file explicitly. Nothing much is known about de_canals other than it is (most likely) a completely new defusal map, set by, or on, some canals. This map could also be a complete revamp of the cut CS:CZ map, that also used the same name, although this is unlikely.

de_glass:

In January of this year, this map's name reared it's head and that's about it sadly. All we know about it is that it'll be a defusal map and that it'll most likely be called Glass, assuming that Glass isn't a working title.

ar_baloney:

This one again appeared in the January 12th update and like Glass it's appearance is in name only. However Baloney is set to be an Arms Race map. It's nice to see that, despite it's flaws, Valve isn't giving up on that game-mode. A new map would certainly provide an opportunity for more players to take up the game-mode.

survival_island:

Island is probably the most interesting of the bunch. It's the first map for a potentially brand new game-mode called "Survival". How survival will work is anyone's guess, but it could form part of whatever coop content Valve's been working on behind the scenes. The game-mode will feature various "phases" and a new object, known as a "beacon".

It seems clear that 2017 could well be a really interesting year for CS:GO and that the dry spell of new content could well be over. Both 3kilksphilip and Thorin have said in recent videos, that the game is ready to see some new maps added into the competitive pool - maybe Glass or Canals could be that candidate. Only time will tell.
