What Zelda achievement are you most proud of?
Posted: 23 Dec 2016 09:37 PM PST
I've never considered myself very good at video games. But what I am and have always been is goddamn stubborn and tenacious. I'm just at the end of Skyward Sword on Hero Mode, and finished off the horde battle with 1/3 of a reinforced shield, no healing items and six hearts. I presume that, if you want, you can run up to the temple and heal yourself and eventually go back to Skyloft if you want, but I decided I wanted to beat that bastard Ghirahim like this. It took me a couple of tries, but eventually I made it! My shield was actually broken by the time I got down there, so I was doing a lot of flips and dodges, and I fucking well did it. Only two hearts of damage! I'm sure other people have done more impressive things, but I am really proud and wanted to share. What are you people proud of?

Has it been confirmed that Breath of the Wild will have better graphics or improved framerate on the Switch
Posted: 23 Dec 2016 11:25 PM PST
I'm thinking about picking up the Switch just for this game, but I'm wondering if Nintendo intends to improve on the graphical performance and the frame rate of this game. I prefer 60 fps, but if Nintendo can't do that, I perfectly understand.

The game was amazing!
I loved the sailing aspect. Every island I saw was explorable, it just made the world seem humongous. The boss battles were great and just the right amount challenging and innovative. The same thing with the dungeons, they weren't too hard, and I actually didn't need a walk-through for any of them (for the first time).
[SPOILERS BELOW] I also loved the story! The whole game was very nonchalant and didn't seem too serious except the part where the gods flooded Hyrule. But after the fact, the game was very kiddish and nice, which I loved! Plus the ending was great too! What you thought was a small sacrifice the gods made for their kingdom actually turned out being a very bad idea. I loved how in the end, Ganondorf confronted the ideology and wisdom of the gods, saying they destroyed a perfect kingdom for the "greater good".
Also that twist in the end was amazing. King Daphnes just comes up and taps the Triforce and destroys all hope for Ganon of taking over Hyrule.
Overall, I loved the game and it couldn't have been more perfect. Although I wish there was more pirate stuff to do, like actually track treasure on the islands, and more trading sequences besides just the one.
11/10 would kill Ganon again.

In your opinion, do the classic Zelda games i.e. A Link to the Past and older still hold up?
Posted: 23 Dec 2016 07:26 PM PST
My first Zelda game was OOT, and I've played most titles after that. I tried to play ALTTP about 8 years ago but gave up pretty quickly due to boredom. Should I give it and the older games a second chance? I also recently got an NES and was thinking about getting the original Zelda but I doubt I would be entertained by it.

Help me appreciate Ocarina of Time?
Posted: 23 Dec 2016 06:09 PM PST
My first experience with a Zelda game was Minish Cap on a GBA emulator on my phone a couple years ago. Since then, I tried A Link to the Past (too clunky on a touch screen) and A Link Between Worlds (no idea why, but I stopped playing it several hours in). My other experience with Zelda-likes was Darksiders, of which I really enjoyed the dungeon puzzle and item mechanics, which are taken directly from Zelda. Recently, I got Ocarina of Time 3D for my 3DS, but I really haven't been enjoying it. The controls are hella awkward and clunky, some advancements are incredibly obscure (like having to fish in the Zora's realm with a fucking jar to get inside Jabu-Jabu, none of which is hinted to). I can't seem to find any heart pieces at all (I just became Adult Link and am heading towards the Forest Temple, only found one heart piece in the entire game, and believe me I look for this stuff). I hate how obscure things are that I have to look at a walkthrough every five minutes, then realize how much I've missed. Everything seems to be ruining the "experience" for me, and I really want to enjoy this game. I also hate the time-travel mechanic and having to "set things up" for the future/past. I don't know what I'm asking for, but any help (not on how to advance, how to have fun) would be great.

"Song of Storms" from my band's Legend of Zelda EP, "Hey, Listen!"
Posted: 23 Dec 2016 03:58 PM PST
Today, the rest of A Sense of Purpose and myself released "Hey, Listen!". This 4-track EP features music from the Legend of Zelda series (Lost Woods, Great Fairy's Fountain and Song of Storms) and "Awaken the Dreamer" which features vocals with lyrics based on the game Link's Awakening. This release began as a solo effort for fun at home and turned into so much more. For those who listen, thank you! Any feedback (good, bad or anywhere else) is appreciated. Links to the rest of the free EP can be found in the video description, if you like what we do checking out our other material would be real cool :)
