What does a hero trully needs ? [in 7.00]

Posted: 23 Dec 2016 12:13 AM PST

Hey guys, before the wall of text i would like to thank synderen for inspiring this. Since 7.00 launched and the new experience changes were introduced i was keen on understanding what type of hero was going to be stronger. At first i thought that heroes like lina, tusk ,huskar , lion that pretty much max their magic damage output (without ults) at around lvl 9-10 would be super op .
Synderen's axe game that starts at around 3.22.00 opened my eyes on why heroes like slark, weaver and ember got huge winrate increases this patch while heroes like lina and tusk have somewhat the same winrate (or worst).

If you look at the xp chart comparison you can see that there's a way bigger gap around the lvl 11~16 than lvl 8~9 (percentage-wise). If you watch 4 minutes of the Synderen game you can understand why this matters so much (start at 17.30 and go until 21.30) . They were pretty much in control of the game until a fight starts at 18.00.
Slark is lvl 14 at this point (in 6.88 he would be lvl 12 and his skill build would be probably 4-4-2-2) . He has the same skill build this game but with the added benefit of having extra 15 dmg from his talent and an extra point on essence shift . They lose that fight (with essence shift stacks that last 1 minute), slark gets lvl 15 and with all that agi (that lasts a lot) he can take the tower and farm really fast guaranteeing slark pretty much a 20 mins silver edge + echo saber. Slark has decent lvl 15 talents but what makes him go out of control in most games is the fact that you can skip them to get lvl 4 essence shift at lvl 15 skill build for that game, with the same ammount of experience you would be lvl 13 (1 min essence shfits) and in the last patch it would take a decent ammount of time to go from 13 to 14. (There's a HUGE difference between lvl 3 essence shift and lvl 4)
One minute later they fight again in the radiants secret shop and slark obliterates axe again. This time having essence shift stacks that last for 2 minutes guaranteeing another pickoff on him 1 minute later even though synd is still pretty tanky. What's my point here ?
My point is that if you exclude the heroes with tons of bufs in this patch ( lycan, visage, treant) you will see that a lot of the heroes that got winrate increases this patch have only or mostly ofensive abilities.
Examples: Undying, slark, weaver, ember, troll, phoenix, tinker
Link for a spreadsheet i made I'm using Dotamax as a source 6.88 7.00.
Being able to have all your 3 skills at max level and your ult lvl 2 earlier than before helps these heroes achieve a comparable stronger state compared to last patch and thus they snowball. Of course, there are exceptions and even though i can give my two cents on why they are happening my point with this post was never pinpointing one single factor that changed the overal winrate of all heroes, so much stuff changed in this patch that it is probably imposible to do so:
Lina has only ofensive abilities and lost winrate. I feel like she is terrible against monkey king (which has hugh mungus pick rate right now) she is also very bad against a lot of popular heroes: mirana, pa, sniper, weaver, riki, drow.
If you check the spreadsheet though you'll see that tons of heroes with at least one (only)defensive (purification is both) or non-ofensive spells are stale in winrate or lost winrate.

Ping the rune, if it doesn't say "bounty rune here" in chat, it's MK

AMA Request Sir Belvetadeer

Posted: 22 Dec 2016 10:55 PM PST

Sir Belvedere has been a well respected backbone of the community for years. Up until a couple of months ago I'd never seen him get beat to a patch analysis, his speedy and thorough uploads were marveled and revered. He missed the patch by a few hours once and it seemed like a one time fluke that out tight knit forgiving community would joke about for years to come. However, his absence and regular tardiness of late has grown weary on my mind and has lead me to several questions that need answers: What happened man? Did you get married? Start school? New job? Health(if shareable)? Kids? Anything the community could help with? How much dota do you play? Would you work for valve? What would you want to do for them? What do you do? MMR (9K right)? Favorite heroes to play? Hero you hate most? Any other questions posted below.
Please Sir can I have some answers! I think you are one of the most well liked persons on this sub and I think most of us would love to hear from ya.

Sex and Dating Preferences of Dota 2 Heroes

Posted: 22 Dec 2016 06:45 AM PST

Abaddon - He saw some freaky stuff in the Font of Avernus. "Sex means something different to me."
Alchemist - Pimping ain't easy, especially when your only prostitute is a chubby ogre, but he's determined to make that gold.
Ancient Apparition - At his best in long-distance relationships.
Anti-Mage - Strictly ordinary, old-fashioned, lie back and think of Turstarkuri sexual intercourse. Basically, Anti-Fun.
Arc Warden - It's a threesome every time, even if the other guy doesn't last long.
Axe - AXE IS AXE!
Bane - Will grip your dick so hard you'll have nightmares.
Batrider - He talks a big game around women, but seems to spend all his time with bats. Hot bats.
Beastmaster - Insists on letting his pets watch.
Bloodseeker - Does not make "is it your time of the month" jokes. He already knows, you understand.
Bounty Hunter - Whatever you want, babe, but it'll cost you.
Brewmaster - Wakes up every morning with a traffic cone, an empty barrel and a panda he does not remember meeting.
Bristleback - Sneeze fetishist.
Broodmother - It's hard to get back into the dating scene when you're a single mother with thousands of babies. Mostly she just watches romcoms by herself.
Centaur Warrunner - Despite his brutish lack of manners, he's popular because of a certain impressive asset.
Chaos Knight - He's wild, he's unpredictable! One moment you're making out, next he's made a mess of his underpants.
Chen - Missionary position.
Clinkz - Cursed for all eternity to live in searing torment, Clinkz has rather neglected his love-life.
Clockwerk - Potential partners quickly discover the real reason for the armour is Rattletrap is a never-nude.
Crystal Maiden - The 'maiden' part is not strictly accurate.
Dark Seer - People find it difficult to get past his prickly shell. Just loves a good scalp massage though.
Dazzle - You've given everything you've got, you're sweaty and exhausted, but that hero is finally gonna be finished. Then, nothing, you just can't end it. Meet Dazzle: he's into edging.
Death Prophet - Expert at sucking, just don't say anything to distract her.
Disruptor - Ending a relationship with him is difficult. No matter how far you go you always end up back in his bed.
Doom - Vore.
Dragon Knight - His knightly vow of chastity strangely did not mention lizard sex.
Drow Ranger - Refuses to let anybody get close to her.
Earth Spirit - Was surprised to find out that people do not appreciate being turned into a statue on a first date.
Earthshaker - He'll rock your world.
Elder Titan - Did you feel the Earth move too?
Ember Spirit - Into extremely hot bondage.
Enchantress - She's not picky. She can't afford to be, given her choices are limited to "deer fetishists".
Enigma - Thinks everything revolves around him.
Faceless Void - Can't read my, can't read my, no you can't read my poker face.
Gyrocopter - "What's that? Sex? I haven't had that in forty years, youngun!"
Huskar - Dives right into every relationship, and he always gets hurt.
Invoker - Nobody's ever good enough for Carl.
Io - Beep boop.
Jakiro - Can't get a commitment from this guy. He's hot then he's cold...
Juggernaut - Jumps from person to person seemingly at random.
Keeper of the Light - You try riding a horse since the beginning of time and see how functional your genitals are. He wasn't even a young man to begin with.
Kunkka - Got a girl in every port.
Legion Commander - Serial monogamist. All her relationships quickly end in acrimony.
Leshrac - Existence is torment, and the bedroom is no exception.
Lich - Prefers older, experienced ladies: "Lich gonna have your mama!"
Lifestealer - Anal every time. There is nobody he wouldn't get into.
Lina - Just don't say her sister is hotter.
Lion - Very talented with his hands. Well, one hand.
Lone Druid - Hangs around all the bear clubs.
Luna - "Come Nova!"
Lycan - Doggy style, of course.
Magnus - Always horny.
Medusa - More than one partner has asked her to wear a paper bag.
Meepo - Selfcest orgies.
Mirana - Crazy cat lady.
Monkey King - Very good at peeking in bedrooms from the trees.
Morphling - He'll adapt to your needs.
Naga Siren - The fantastic singing voice almost makes up for the overwhelming smell of fish.
Nature's Prophet - All-natural, out in the woods under the stars, just as nature intended.
Necrophos - Not interested unless you have an infectious STD. Or want one.
Night Stalker - Has restraining orders against him pretty much everywhere.
Nyx Assassin - "nyx nyx nyx nyxnyx nyxnyxnyxNYX nyxnyxNYXNYXNYXNYX NYYYYYYYYYYYYXXX nyx."
Ogre Magi - "My turn this time!"
Omniknight - Your guardian angel is always watching, even in the shower.
Oracle - "Will I ever see you again?" "That is... one possibility."
Outworld Devourer - Dates tend to go south once he mentions his profession. Outhouses are not glamorous, no matter how well decorated.
Phantom Assassin - She'll finish in a second and you'll never see her again.
Phantom Lancer - Fed up of people saying "I just want to get to know the real you."
Phoenix - Watersports.
Puck - Asexual: "What strange games you mortals play."
Pudge - An obese, smelly hooker. Reminds me of you.
Pugna - The inventor of the reverse blowjob.
Queen of Pain - She's a succubus called Queen of Pain, take a wild stab in the dark as to what she's into.
Razor - He thinks there was definitely a spark between them at his last date. Then again, he always thinks that.
Riki - Actually very respectful of privacy and personal space. He's an assassin, not a pervert.
Rubick - Will try anything.
Sand King - Caustic Finale makes it difficult to maintain relationships.
Shadow Demon - All the excitement happens on the fifth date.
Shadow Fiend - Who does he think he is, collecting his jar of souls?
Shadow Shaman - Popular guy. You would be too if you could summon a writhing mass of dildos at will.
Silencer - Make so much as a squeak and he'll kick you outside in the nude.
Skywrath Mage - Has a massive crush on Vengeful Spirit, but he's too chicken to admit it.
Slardar - Dude's been working out, had a makeover. Single and ready to mingle.
Slark - He'll tie you down.
Sniper - Rear Window is his favourite porno.
Spectre - She'll literally go chasing five guys at once.
Spirit Breaker - Once he's chosen someone, he does not give up. Even when he should.
Storm Spirit - Surpisingly agile for such a big guy.
Sven - He thinks of himself as a sweet talker, even though nobody understands him.
Techies - They always leave crusty socks lying around and somebody always steps on them.
Templar Assassin - In a happy long-term relationship with Wagamama.
Terrorblade - When even other demons refuse to date a guy, you know he's bad news.
Tidehunter - Will not shut up about his ex, Kunkka.
Timbersaw - He only says he hates trees because secretly he has a crush on Treant and he can't deal with it.
Tinker - Has a refractory period of 0.75 seconds.
Tiny - He's a grower, not a shower.
Treant Protector - Look, I'm not a biologist, he probably does something with flowers.
Troll Warlord - Orgasms in seconds, then blames everyone else.
Tusk - If you think Walrus punch is effective, wait till you see what he can do further down. And I don't mean Walrus Kick.
Underlord - Armpit fetishist.
Undying - Necrophiliac. It's OK though, he's a corpse himself.
Ursa - Becomes insanely jealous if anyone else goes near Roshan.
Vengeful Spirit - Pegging. She loves role-reversal.
Venomancer - Is a wriggling ball of sexually transmitted diseases. Every single one.
Viper - He's been trying to fix his look recently. Still no luck.
Visage - The Narrow Maze is not the most romantic place to meet.
Warlock - Prefers to watch his golem get all the action.
Weaver - Time Lapse has some interesting applications in bed.
Windranger - "Windranger gets there first!"
Winter Wyvern - Sells her own dragon erotica on Amazon.
Witch Doctor - He's decided to avoid sex until he finds the cure for crippling back pain.
Wraith King - "I'M BALLING OUT OF CONTROL!"
Zeus - Likes submissive women and teenage boys. He's an Ancient Greek.

Dota 2 Update - 22 December 2016

Posted: 22 Dec 2016 02:59 PM PST

Hey guys, I ran through the patch. All bug fixes are backend, so do tell me if you've noticed something fixed.

Bots

  • Bot pathfinding has been updated.
  • Bots can now properly detect the charges of an item.
  • Bots can now also read a variety of stats from units, including base damage, attack speed and range.
  • Bots should now be able to properly select and identify buildings.
  • Bots should now be able to pickup runes properly.
  • Bots should now be able to track buyback status.
Lina
  • Recieved new scripting to handle defending an ally.
  • Minor fixes to purchasing items
Known Issues
  • Bots can load in with no wearables.
  • Bots do not select talents.
  • Bots killed Roshan in my test game, but did not pick up aegis.

UI

  • Combat Log now has a spinner when loading.

Patch Size: 89.8 MB (with tools)

5.9 MB Patch
  • Backend recompile, no way to know what was changed. I'm pretty sure at this point Valve is pushing updates because they can, literally nothing changed except client version.
10.2 MB Patch
  • Backend changes, and changed an unknown string at the end of the items file. Spooky.

Simply Better Bots v1.1

Posted: 22 Dec 2016 12:56 PM PST

I'm happy to announce the newest release of my bots, new things for this version are a rename, and that bots will now buy and use regen in a way that doesn't get their inventory in a tangle. They will also buy tp's when they require them rather than having a fixed amount.
So for now, the bots will show up to lane and last hit. They won't get stuck warding, standing looking at the aegis or going for runes because they don't ward, do rosh or collect runes. They also won't buy truesight. Links for the zip:
https://ufile.io/b5e61
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=51213641639304043371
Unzip files to the game/dota/scripts/vscripts/bots directory within your Dota 2 install, then manually select the bots when you make a lobby (alternatively you can bring up the console and type 'map dota' then 'dota_bot_populate' to spawn bots).
If you don't like the bots item builds you can edit them yourself, just remember that you have to add each component individually and they don't have access to the secret shop. Current bugs: Sometimes two couriers get bought, when this happens those couriers get fed, so far this has only happened once. When transitioning to boots of travel it sometimes takes them a little time, but they will eventually get there.
Future goals are to get bots to register that t3's and rax require defending, collect runes, do roshan and a few other things

I have a low-end rig and in 7.00, not only I suffered NO performance drop, the game is much smoother and more stable for me

Posted: 22 Dec 2016 12:53 PM PST

CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G3250 @ 3.20GHz
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 730
RAM: 4GB
OS: Windows 10
Resolution: 1440x900
Options:
- All boxes unchecked.
- Windowed Borderless.
- Low shadow quality.
- High texture quality.
- Render 100%.
FPS Range: 60 - 90 in-match, 120 in menu.
I don't know what's the matter with people, just upgrade your card or update your drivers.
The game is now much more stable for me, if I get spells flung at me in early game, it no longer freezes ( this was because I hadn't loaded all the assets ) or causes me to timeout. And huge teamfights don't drop my fps below 30 anymore.
THANKS A LOT, VALVE!
EDIT: 99% of the comments are negative FeelsBadMan, but ~70% of the votes are upvotes SeemsGood.
