2016 Best of /r/DestinyTheGame Awards - Nominations and Voting!

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 09:18 AM PST

Season's Greetings, Guardians!
With 2016 coming to a close, it is time to reflect upon the diversions this subreddit provided from the outside world over the tumultuous past 11.5 months.
As is tradition, we are holding the Best of /r/DestinyTheGame Awards! This is when both the community and the Vanguard acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by users this year.
Here are the award categories:

Video Post of the Year (Serious)

Awarded to the video post that dove deep into one or more topics with an exceptionally-high level of excellence.

Video Post of the Year (Funny)

Awarded to the video post that made you laugh more than any of the others in the past year.

Lore Post of the Year

Awarded to the post which provided spectacular analysis of Destiny's narrative, characters, factions, locales, etc.

Post of the Year

No matter the flair, this post stood above the rest and is recognized as such.

Suggestion of the Year

Many users dislike Suggestion posts, but several quality posts bearing the Suggestion flair have led to improvements in the game. This award recognizes a Suggestion of surpassing quality in 2016.

SGA of the Year

While many of us consider ourselves preeminent Destiny experts, some tips, tricks, and facts may elude us from time to time. This award honors the contributions of an SGA post to our community's knowledge base.

The megamanexe4 Special Services to the Subreddit Award

Named for the "Oracle of Destiny" himself, this award goes to a user whose collective body of work on the subreddit this year made them a credit to Guardians everywhere and whose continued presence improved this community.

The Craysh Memorial Award

Previously known as Guide of the Year, this award was renamed in memory of /u/Craysh, a dear friend of the subreddit and perhaps the community's greatest guide-writer of all-time. Craysh created and maintained several threads of everything that had been announced for various updates and, when he ran out of room, took his work to the subreddit's wiki, providing Guardians around the world with incredible resources for The Taken King and other updates to the game. For 2016 and beyond, we give this award to the user who wrote a Guide post worthy of the man for whom the award is named.

How nominations and voting work:

In the comments below, you will notice that the only top-level comments are from moderators. This is because top-level comments from non-moderators are not permitted in this post.
To nominate a post or a user, please reply to the appropriate award category comment with a link to the post or user.
Please check the nominations that have already been made for that category, in order to see if somebody else has already nominated who/what you were about to nominate. If they have already made the nomination, you may cast your vote for that nominee by upvoting on the comment.

Duplicate nominations will be removed.

To vote for a nominee, simply upvote the nomination comment.
Any direct replies to award category comments which do not link to a nominee will be removed.
There is a meta comment to which you may reply with discussion of the awards themselves.

Nominations and voting will be open until Noon Mountain Time on Friday, December 30th. Results will be announced on January 4th.

Happy Holidays,
The Vanguard

Bungie, it's been over 2 years, and throwing knife STILL doesn't count as a solar ability kill.

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 04:23 AM PST

Realized this is still an issue when running around patrol for the Abaddon quest. Every melee ability in the game counts as an elemental ability, except throwing knives. Even smoke bombs count as a void ability kill. I know it's not a large issue, but it is really annoying.

Bungie, this is been 2 years and yet Taniks has no house.

Taniks has no house. It's been 2 years and yet he still has Ether problems because he has no house. Please help this poor guy.
EDIT: 280+ Points, amazing. Seriously, get him a nice house and some good Ether vodka. Even Taniks should celebrate the Dawning.
EDIT: Oryx ass-hat for Taniks anyone?

Does anyone else check this sub daily hoping to find some juicy leaked info or Jason Schreier article on Destiny 2?

I can't be the only one. Don't get me wrong, I'm still having fun with Destiny 1 and loving the Dawning, but I'm just dying for more information.

Never let me figure out the new guy at the office plays Destiny ever again

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 05:46 PM PST

He brought in some really good "Matador" chips the first week of work. Overheard him talking about how he planned on grinding Trials for the weekend, and couldn't help myself but vandalize heh that was a good one his prized chips.

I received the note on that Monday.
Sorry, Mark. (He even stole the red sharpie I used to write on his bag of chips with the little bastard)

If anyone who plays Destiny can get a god-tier Palindrome from a vendor, why can't exotic hand cannons get a buff?

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 08:21 AM PST

I mean, they're exotic, right? They're inherently more rare and harder to get than a vendor weapon, and should be worthy of their exotic designation.
Last Word, Thorn, and Hawkmoon could all use a decent buff at varying levels. (Last Word probably needing it the least.) I think it would be great to see these all be able to compete directly with the Palindrome. I'm not even saying all hand cannons need a buff. That's been beaten to death. But definitely the exotics, because all 3 seem to have been designed with PvP in mind.
EDIT: I feel like some clarification is needed here. I appreciate everyone's comments and that there's definitely some debate on this. I'm not suggesting that the exotic hand cannons be buffed so that the legendary counterparts become obsolete. What I'm suggesting is that maybe Hawkmoon and Thorn, specifically, get adjusted to bring them closer to competitive without pushing out the Palindromes and Eyaslunas.
I think the better option is to have these be different options with similar performance. Can't seem to get a Hawkmoon or a Last Word to drop? Go get the Palindrome and you're on equal footing with someone who does have those.

Become Legend: Weekly Guide [2016-12-20]

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 01:36 PM PST

Intro

Welcome to another edition of Become Legend! This is my weekly guide to help out those looking for a one-stop shop of information on how to best conquer weekly challenges. Keep in mind that these are recommendations and not the end-all-be-all on how to do well, if you have some great suggestions feel free to add them via comments!

Nightfall - Sepiks Perfected

Difficulty: 2/5
Modifiers
  • Epic
  • Berserk
  • Small Arms
  • Match Game
  • Airborne
Recommended Loadout
  • Primary: Hand Cannon with Explosive Rounds (Exile's Student)
  • Secondary: Sniper Rifle
  • Heavy: Gjallarhorn
  • Gear: Titans should use Empyrean Bellicose. Hunters should use Bones of Eao. Warlocks can use whatever they want, Heart of the Praxic Fire is nice while Starfire Protocol can be great if you choose Fusion Grenades. All classes should wear the Raid Gauntlets.
Recommended Classes/Perks
  • Hunter: Nightstalker seems to be the best this week for clearing adds and generating points. A Gunslinger with Celestial Nighthawk can really clear out the Ultras in this strike.
  • Titan: Defender is a staple for Titans, Blessing of Light is best for staying alive. You can dabble with the other subclasses, Sunbreaker being the best secondary choice.
  • Warlock: Sunsinger is a must here. Angel of Light will make killing enemies so easy with the Airborne bonus. Solar Grenades and Song of Flame should be your other choices, you shouldn't expect to die if you're going for a high score so Fireborn is out of the question unless you just want to get the clear.
Navigating the Strike
If you're going for points, use your Sparrow to zoom all the way to the initial objective room otherwise fight through the Hive. Here you'll find Hive and Fallen fighting, take them out and start decrypting the gate lock with Ghost. Use Grenades and Gjallarhorn to clear enemies as soon as they come out of the gate, use your Super often and coordinate with your teammates before using it. The waves alternate, Fallen-Hive-Fallen so you'll have a Captain to deal with for the boss. Shadowshot and Gjallarhorn in mid-air should be enough to drop him and get you moving to the next area.
In the Blast you'll find a Perfect Walker. Shoot out the front-left (from our perspective, front right) leg to leave the critical spot open the longest. A Celestial Nighthawk with Keyhole can penetrate through the legs if you line it up, it's normally enough to one-shot the Walker. Float in the air (Warlocks and Titans) and snipe the critical spot to quickly defeat the Walker. If you have some smooth driving skills nows your time to shine, you can save a lot of time by getting on your sparrow and blazing to the boss room. You are sacrificing a number of points doing this though, so if you have a Shadowshot or some extra heavy it might be best to simply plow through the enemies here.
Sepiks Perfected
Clear out the SIVA nodes off the start then take out the Splicers. The Captains that come out with the cannons are where you need to deal the right elemental damage. Explosive Rounds has a knack for shredding through shields so a weapon like the Exile's Student should do wonderful damage and make it easier to down them. Use Shadowshow to quickly lockdown and defeat enemies so you can focus damage on Sepiks Perfected. It's not that difficult this week, just keep jumping! Rinse and repeat the waves and Captains until you can finish him off once and for all.

SIVA Crisis Heroic

Modifiers
  • Heroic
  • Void Burn
  • Brawler
  • Chaff
Recommended Loadout
  • Primary: Scout Rifle/Pulse Rifle
  • Secondary: Telesto
  • Heavy: Void Machine Gun
  • Exotic Armor: Nightstalkers should use Fr0st-EE5, Defenders might do best with Armamentarium for more grenades, and Voidwalkers should use Nothing Manacles or Voidfang Vestments depending on their grenade choice.
Recommended Classes/Perks
  • Hunter: Bloodbound and Light of the Pack. Grenade of choice, Vortex seem to do best for enemies that are tethered.
  • Titan: Magnetic Grenades are good here for guaranteed damage. Weapons of Light for faster clearing, just be sure to toss grenades beforehand since you get them back after using Ward of Dawn.
  • Warlock: Scatter Grenades coupled with The Hunger, Life Steal, and Embrace the Void should mean endless grenades and infinite health.
Telesto always does well with Void Burn, it should be your go-to gun. Chaff makes identifying enemies a little harder but it should be an alright week. Warlocks will shine the brightest, if you're going for a good score 2 Warlocks and 1 Hunter might be the way to go.

Shaxx Bounty - Back to the Basics

Objectives:
  • Complete 7 Matches
  • 50 Primary Kills
  • 25 Assisted Kills
  • 25 Ability Kills
Nothing is overly difficult for this week, just playing the matches should get your completion. Stick with your team and shoot down the enemy that way, you need the assist points more than anything. Dominate one area of the map, almost all maps have a power-position that's best to defend and let the enemies run into your trap. Use your Super to take this area or defend it if you need to. Roaming supers tend to do well in Clash as things are a bit more chaotic and players are normally more spread out than in Control or Rift.

Petra Venj Taken Bounties

  • Take the Wanted (Grayris)
  • Take Them Out (Mars)
  • Take Them All (100 Taken)
Not sync'd up this week, you'll need to head to the Shattered Coast on Venus for Grayris then to Mars for the 12 Majors. 100 Taken is always an easy bounty, don't forget to grab the dailies!

Weekly Elite Bounties

With The Dawning comes some new bounties for strikes to accompany their recent changes. These bounties may be picked up from Zavala.
  • Strike Elite: Earn 9 Medals in Strikes (Bronze/Silver/Gold Tier)
    • Rewards: 10000 EXP, Vanguard Rep +200, Legendary Armor, Legendary Marks +10
  • Sunrise: Earn a Gold Tier Achieve Medal in the Nightfall before time expires.
    • Rewards: 10000 EXP, Vanguard Rep +200, Legendary Weapon, Legendary Marks +10
  • Clean Up: Get 150 enemy kills with your fireteam during a SIVA Crisit Strike to earn "Brutal Efficiency" Medals. (3)
    • Rewards: 10000 EXP, Vanguard Rep +200, Legendary Armor, Legendary Marks +10
For Strike Elite, if you earn "Gold Tier Achieved" then you get three points towards this. For Clean Up, simply defeat 150 enemies combined before clearing the strike. For Sunrise, you'll need to top 47,000 points this week for Gold Tier which is almost impossible to not achieve.

Vendor Items

This section is only going to include gear that is capable of Tier 12. It's a good week if you needed some Tier 12 Class Items. The Speaker now also sells Subclass Class Items and they are now included here. The Memory of Felwinter this week is the best we've seen.
Vendor Item Name Class Armor Slot INT DISC STR % of Max
Speaker Thalor's Golden Maul Titan Class Item 25 23 96%

Nightfall & Strike Scoring Bounties - Bounties, Tips & Advice - Into the Void

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 04:17 AM PST

Good Morning Guardians,
Put this together as a bit of SGA towards maximising the efficiency in completing this weeks Zavala Bounties and getting the most from your Nightfalls and Heroic Strikes this week
As ever, if there is anything to add please feel free to let me know

Pick up and Play
This weeks Bounties (All 3 can be completed with Nightfalls - 'Clean up' & 'Strike Elite' can be completed in the Nightfall or any Strike Scoring playlist -
  • Sunrise - Earn a Gold Tier Achieved Medal in the Nightfall before the time expires (Ice Breaker Bounty - Completing this will give you a chance at receiving the returning Ice Breaker and is the ONLY one of the 3 which gives you this chance)
  • "Clean Up" Get 150 enemy kills with your fireteam during a SIVA Crisis Strike to earn "Brutal Efficiency" Medals - 0/3
  • Strike Elite - Earn "Gold Tier Achieved", "Silver Tier Achieved" or "Bronze Tier Achieved" Medals - 0/9
SGA
  • Completing your FIRST Nightfall of the week grants you a guarenteed Skeleton Key - Account wide
  • Note - Skeleton Keys stack and cannot be transferred via Item Managers. I have been told this stacks up to 5 so to ensure the key is not lost, make sure you have available room (May just be sent to Postmaster - Confirmation required)
  • These 3 Bounties can be picked up on ALL of your characters - 3 Chances at Ice Breaker
  • Gear from these Bouties drops UP TO 400 Light
  • Exclusive Armour sets drop ONLY from Zavalas Bounties for your Titan, Hunter & Warlock
  • Small Arms: x2.0 for Primary; x0.7 for Special/Heavy
  • Burns (Void Week): x2.0 for matched element weapons
  • Burn effects 'Reduced' on incoming damage done to Guardians - Outgoing damage by Guardians is unchanged

Nightfall: Sepiks Perfected
Modifiers
  • Epic - Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers.
  • Berserk - Minions of the Darkness won't flinch, even after massive damage.
  • Small Arms - Primary Weapon damage is favored.
  • Match Game - Enemy shields are resistant to all unmatched Elemental Damage.
  • Airborne - Players deal more damage while in the air.

Come as you are
The only route to completing the 'Sunrise' bounty and that Weekly change for the 'Ice Breaker' - As we have a time limit as well as scoring, the enemies here are plentiful and it's all about how you can dispatch of them quickly whilst chaining together your kills with supers to full effect
This weeks Nightfall is awesome for the variations you can stick together, it's a fast and fun Nightfall and Subclass and Weapons are all down to preference as much as they have Pros and Cons so for this section I won't list but rather give some 'enhancements' to wrack up those scores based on the Modifiers we have
Small Arms - Primary Weapon damage is favored.
Weapons to take advantage
  • Bad Juju to help build supers
  • Outbreak Prime (DPS Machine)
  • Zhalo Supercell
  • No Time to Explain
  • Anything with Firefly will serve you well here
  • Steel Medulla / Choas Dogma / Fever & Remedy / Genesis Chain(Recommend) for 'Whirwinds Curse' perk - Extra damage to Fallen / Bonus Agility
Match Game - Enemy shields are resistant to all unmatched Elemental Damage.
To combat this - Especially for Captains at the end -
  • 'Weapon of each damage type on your Guardian
  • Exotic Swords Raze Lighter or Dark Drinker
  • Tether and/or Bubble and/or Nova Bomb waiting for the Captains for a fast take down
  • Explosive rounds (the explosion part) is not effected by the shield resistances
Airborne - Players deal more damage while in the air
The most fun of the modifiers for me this week!
Hunters
  • Bones of Eao - Jump away, touch the sky and rain down the bullets
  • Celestial Nighthawk - Jump Shot Style Points. Massive damage
Titans
  • Empyrean Bellicose - An exotic Helm that can suspend you in mid air - Great for taking out enemies at Range (SIVA Tank / Sepiks it really shines)
Warlocks
  • Sunsinger - Angel of Light - 'Aiming your weapon in air will hold you in place for a short time' - Explains itself
SGA
  • Jumping using ANY weapon AND/OR Grenade will receive a boost here from the Airborne Modifier.
Specials & Heavy Weapons weapons will receive the 'Airborne' booster if you are in the air whilst damaging your target - So you can fire first then JUMP just before Impact to receive the boost

Heroic Strikes
Modifiers
  • Heroic - Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • Void Burn - Void damage from any source is greatly increased.
  • Brawler - Guardian melee damage is greatly increased.
  • Chaff - Player radar is disabled.

Into the Void
As any week the 'Burn' is always what stand out as the highlight and Void burn certainly doesn't dissapoint
Hunter
  • Nightstalker - Vortex Grenades - Blackhole OR Bloodbound - Envenomed - Lockdown - Predator
Titan
  • Defender - Magnetic OR Suppressor Grenade - Armor of Light (Paired with St 14 (Helmet) or No Back Up Plans (Arms)) OR Weapons - Gift of the Void - Untouchable (If using AoL) / Illuminated (If using WoL)
Take advantage of the 'Brawler' Modifier by using Armor of Light perk, Helm of St 14 & Gift of the Light perk to have a Punch Bro Bubble Party - Orbs for the Team, Punching for the Titans
Warlock - HEROIC SUBCLASS OF THE WEEK
  • Voidwalker - Any Grenade here is effective but for scoring so go with preference to suit your play style - Shatter - Soul Rip - Annhiilate - Bloom OR Embrace the Void (Best used if pairing with Bad Juju (Primary) / Obsidian Mind (Helmet) & Soul Rip to chain supers)
SGA
  • Monte Carlo is a great weapon here for the Melee recharge ability to add to Brawler
  • Telesto / Vacancy / Void Fusions - Great for racking up those Special medals
  • Void Side arms can also be viable here for your Special Medals on lower level enemies
  • Truth to do some Heavy Void Damage for Heavy Medals
  • Effective Voidwalker Combo - Nothing Manacles / Shatter Grenades / The Hunger / Bloom
  • Void IF Materia~ can melt bosses and enemies a like - If all 3 of you have one, test on a boss for massive damage

TLW
Just a small thing I have put togther, please feel free to add, discuss and use the information as you see fit
(Never really done a write up like this so any feedback or critique welcome also)

Happy Reset Day Guardians

Can we get Digital Download Upgrades for us Physical Disc Owners?

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 09:03 AM PST

Hey Bungie,
Has any thought been given to those guardians that are looking to upgrade to a digital copy of their game? After 4 expansions that were digital download it would be awesome to just cut that cord and not have to use the disc anymore.
Looking at some online retailers, it seems that the physical copy is going for $10-$40 (depending on original, TTK, or The collection) while the digital download copy for the game is going for $90 on the original (what's up with that?) and $60 for the Collection edition.
I don't think I'm alone when I say that there are plenty of people who would be really interested in this over and/or in addition to buying silver for Tess.
Edit 1: Playstation Store is now selling Destiny - the collection upgrade bundle for PS4 on sale for $31. 99. I bought it for science. I just deleted the disc-based destiny game from my ps4 and am now downloading it again from my library. I will report back the results when it is done.
Edit 2: It works. No disc needed to play Destiny anymore. Get at it for those who thought $30 was a good price point to go digital for this game.

2 youngsters shuttle 1 oldster (I'm 53) to the lighthouse.

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 02:30 PM PST

tl;dr : 2 cool brits ferry an antique to the lighthouse.
I've played this game since its inception and loved it. However my reflexes are not what they were in my youth when the hottest video game/only game on the market was Pong.
Anyway, there was a 31 year old guy (I consider that youth) posting a reddit request to "young bucks" for advice on crucible. This spawned several guys in their 30's competing over who was the elder statesman. I ribbed them for considering themselves old, given my ancient status -- I mentioned I'd even almost gotten to the lighthouse.
Out of the blue, AFilthyYamYam, offered to help me get there with a friend of his. He did not need to do this; there was really no promotional reason for it. He and his friend Jack-Jack-25 just decided to make it happen. So this last Sunday we did it -- and it was a close call. We lost one match, which mercy covered. We were down 1-4 on another match, but these guys brought us back with some crazy clutch plays.
I wanted to give these guys a shout out for giving me one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life. Bravo.
These guys are both budding Twitch streamers I found out. afilthyyamyam and jack_jack_25 in case you are interested.

SRL: Being bumped, meh. Gates being hit and miss, whatever. Matchmaking, no prob. But tricks not triggering...

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 06:20 PM PST

Aaaaargh!!! Why do I need to be in the air long enough to clear 3 busses before I can actually pop a trick rather than just point? Am I doing something wrong? [Question]

Important things you don't know about going fast in SRL

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 09:18 AM PST

There's a lot of guidance out there on SRL, but a lot of it is spread out across multiple threads, and I wanted to lay down a few things that I think a lot of people don't realize that make a big difference in how well you do in sparrow racing.
On Smoothness
Any time you touch the sticks, it slows you down. The more you adjust your course, the slower you go. This is very important to focus on any time you don't have other players right on top of you, because the fewer controller inputs you use, the faster you'll go. There's an axiom that's common both to racing and military applications: "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast". It's very applicable in SRL.
NOTE: getting jostled by another sparrow does NOT slow you down, UNLESS you try to countersteer into it, or unless they actually turn you or lift you off the track. I've found it's actually really easy to get into the lead by the first gate by just aiming for the gate and not adjusting for anything the other guys do. More often than not the result is that they wind up slowing down and I hit the first gate in the lead.
Any time you're in the air, it slows you down. Unless you're low on boost fuel and need the trick, AVOID going over jumps if you can. It's always faster to go around rather than over, as long as you do it smoothly enough. Doing tricks using Destabilize ALSO slows you down, so if you're going for position rather than style, always use the D-pad.
Your Friend, The Racing Helmet
A controversial addition here is that I feel that you should ALWAYS use a racing helmet that gives you vertical control. This can be dangerous, because there are a some jumps that you WILL NOT SURVIVE if you're pushing forward on the stick, the cannon-jumps at the end of Shining Sands being a notable example. Even so, the quicker you get back on the ground, the faster you go. You can pick up almost half a second on the big jump towards the Fallen Skiff on Infinite Descent compared to someone without a racing helmet. You should also always make sure on any high jump that you pull BACK on the stick just as you're landing, as this will help make sure that you don't 'bounce' when you hit and make sure you get a clean landing. This both prevents loss of speed and ensures that you get credit for the trick you should have been doing on the way down.
Don't Sweat the Gates
Don't get too focused on the gates. You'll notice that a lot of times the racer who finishes first has the fewest number of gates hit. The reason for this is that many of the gates aren't on the optimal racing line, so as you get further forward in position and the gates get smaller, a lot of them start to actually cost you time compared to skipping the gate and taking a tighter line. The gate immediately before THAT DAMN FORKLIFT (coughahem) on Hakkon's Precipice is a good example. If you're in 3rd or higher, you're usually better off skipping it and taking the corner tighter. This is particularly true for the gates in the areas with moving obstacles. If you have to use two side boosts to hit a gate without also hitting a fan blade or whatever, it will cost you more time than just going straight through and missing the gate would have.
Edit Ok, so everybody is calling me out for being a scrub because of the gate thing, so let me clarify. Yes, you CAN and SHOULD hit all, or almost all the gates on a flying lap. HOWEVER. This guide is aimed as the struggling racer who is having a hard time with the wins required for the A and S class licenses. If you're nailing first place all the time, you don't need MY help. My point on the gates is that when you're focusing on hitting them, it instills bad habits and tends to conceal more subtle errors that are slowing you down and making it so even when you get the lead, you can't keep it. I got a LOT faster when I forced myself to stop swerving and using side boosts to hit gates and focused on keeping my line clean and smooth. Once I got good at that I worked on controlling my line so that I COULD hit all the gates without having to waste boost fuel or losing speed to unnecessary maneuvering.
TLDR
Finally, I'll reiterate for emphasis: SLOW IS SMOOTH, SMOOTH IS FAST. The other racers are going to bump you. It's fine. Let them. If you just keep calm and steer smoothly, it will almost always wind up slowing them down more than you. Focus on the racing line, if the gate isn't on the line, skip it. If it IS on the line, you should always be aiming at the NEXT gate when you hit the current one. Again, the fewer control inputs you use, the faster you go. Avoid swerving. Save your boosts for cutting the tight corners, that will get you FAR more time than using a boost just to hit a gate, and then having to use a second one to get back on the racing line.
Hopefully this will help with those A and S rank bounties!

Are doodles accepted here?

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 07:25 AM PST

Cleaning out my work desk and found a doodle of my Titan and Warlock from just after TTK dropped. Not nearly as good as some of the talented artists that have posted but some of you may appreciate it. I have a Hunter as well but he just didn't look cool enough to draw at the time.

Destiny Supers in Ultra Slow Motion (Video)

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 02:31 PM PST

After my first two twixtor videos were pretty well received here, I decided to make a longer montage type video of almost all of the super animations from different angles/perspectives (with help from my girlfriend) and see how it would turn out.
This one was essentially made after a lot of people requested it and I took into consideration the feedback I got on the nova bomb video (in this one, I include the throw, too!)
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy it, again- don't sub to me. I am not promoting my YT channel here, I just use Youtube because it is the easiest way to share videos and usually I just make stuff to show to my friends.

A thought about Thorn

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 04:55 PM PST

What if thorn's DoT effect acted like Minecraft's poison debuff. Brings you down to the lowest possible health and keeps you there until the debuff runs out but it never kills you. If thorn's DoT was as powerful as it was before but never actually killed you then it would either take 2 well spaced out headshots or 3 shots. This would keep the time to kill at a balanced level while restoring thorn's status as a useful exotic. The main reason thorn was so powerful was that you could get two head shots and dip out knowing that you would get the kill in a second or so.
With my proposed change, thorn users would have to stick around to finish a kill and their target wouldnt die after winning the gunfight, they would just have to fall back for a bit to regain their health.

I finally had it happen, just like the commercials from the 90's. All it was missing was the crash sound effect.

T12 Capable Armor - Weekly Reset (20DEC2016)

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 06:22 AM PST

T12 Capable Gear

EDIT: I tried making a quick and easy document that you can just plug your numbers into and get the info you need. Just download the file and only change the areas highlighted in gray. If you see any issues with it please let me know. T12 Document
How to get the %:
First what are the numbers you are looking for?
  • Gauntlets - 99
  • Leg Armor - 135
  • Chest Armor - 147
  • Helmet - 111
  • Class Item - 60
  • Ghost - 60
  • Artifact - 131
How to get the info:
Let's use this for an example
Vendor Name Type % Int Disc Str Perk 1 Perk 2
Crucible Raku Gwener Type 1 Chest Armor 96% 60/85 57/82 - Pulse Rifle/Sniper Rifle Ammo Solar Recovery/Solar Armor
  1. We will add these two to get the total: 60/85 + 57/82 or 85+57=142. Pick the highest number on one stat (85) and add the lowest number on the other stat (57).
  2. Since the max for Chest Armor is 147, we will use this equation 142/147=96.59 or 96% (round down to use the low end to be safe stat wise for T12 builds).

Kovik heroic is nearly impossible with chaff and void burn

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 02:59 AM PST

Spent 50 minutes cutting my teeth on this fight with 2 others in a pug. Just gross. Once the ogre is going full speed and the boss still has 25% health left it's basically a mad dash around the room rezing the rest of your fire team.
Figuratively unplayable.

I felt a little inspired today

Posted: 20 Dec 2016 07:56 PM PST

So earlier I saw a post submitted by u/culture_crab, showing him nearly clinching first place in SRL only to be beaten by an overdrive. It reminded me of a certain well known movie scene from a certain well known movie franchise, so I whipped up a little video that I hope entertains you as much as it does me.
