D2L Western Challenge is nearing its end with only a few handful matches remaining. Resuming tonight, EG will go up against Fnatic in a BO3 winner bracket finals.
Sitting on top of a prize pool over $64,500, D2L Western Challenge is inching closer to its conclusion. With only 5 matches remaining, we will soon see a champion crowned in the next two days. Cloud 9 and Team Empire will start off the games tonight in round 2 of the lower bracket at 18.00 CEST.
Looking a bit shaky, Cloud 9 were dropped down to the lower bracket by the former roster of RoX.KIS in a three game thriller. Living up to their name, Goblak and company pulled out yet another upset on the TI4 attendees in an amazing fashion.
Meanwhile, Team Empire showed zero restraints against Fnatic as they displayed yet another versatile performance with innovative picks. H4nn1 once again drafted the unconventional
Earthshaker for himself combined
with Excalibur's 
Shadow Fiend and n0tail's 
Kunkka which resulted in an
easy victory in game one.The boys in Black and Orange continued dominating game two, with Excalibur's
Meepo completely demolishing any hopes for the CIS team to
bounce back. Despite the high burst damage for Team Empire, they were unable
to capitalize on any opportunities in the second game.Moving on, Fnatic will face EG tonight in the winner bracket finals at 21.00 CEST. The winner will proceed on to the grand finals whilst the loser will get a final chance to redeem themselves from the lower bracket.
