After making their respective way through the playoffs, only two teams remained in The Summit 2014 LAN. DK soared to the overall final after defeating both Fnatic and Vici Gaming 2-0. They now had to go up against Evil Geniuses, who convincingly defeated their opposition in the lower bracket. Who would win the grand showdown?

This match-up would turn out to be the most interesting of the tournament, with unconventional drafts, turnarounds, great strategies and plays. With EG being on their home turf and getting on top of their game in the playoffs after a somewhat mediocre groupstage and with DK being DK, we were in for an earth-shaking east vs west finale.

After a terrible six months for Western teams going up against their Chinese equivalents, after a horrible groupstage, it was the North American Evil Geniuses who came out on top of the first ever The Summit, taking out Team DK 3-2.

Evil Geniuses vs. ViCi Gaming

Game 1

Evil Geniuses started out their day by running circles around ViCi Gaming, as they picked a Phantom Assassin, Elder Titan and Wisp lineup that made Sylar's life a living hell on Morphling. ViCi set up their lanes to give rOtk a heavy early lead on Tidehunter, only to find out the hard way that none of it mattered once Arteezy showed up to the party, going 13-0-3 and one-shotting the Shotgun Morphling and and towards the end taking out VG's supposed frontline tank in two hits. First game goes to the Americans.

The Summit LAN in Los Angeles, California has come to an end after an exciting best-of-five match. EG stands victorious over the heavily favored Team DK as they battled their way up from loser's bracket, overcoming VG to secure a spot in the grand finals and eventually win against the Chinese dream team.

The fourth and final day of The Summit LAN was by far the longest, but most rewarding day. After a disappointing groupstage performance EG battled their way through the loser's bracket on day 3 leaving only Vici Gaming standing in their path to the grand finals.

Day 3 of The Summit LAN in Los Angeles, California had some of the best matches of the entire tournament. Today was filled with Evil Genius plowing through the loser's bracket competition while DK continued to showcase their talents. EG, DK, and VG will battle tomorrow to find out who will take home the gold.

The Summit 2014: Down to final four

With group stages done and dusted and playoffs already well under way, we finally have the four remaining teams who made it through the long couple of days of quality Dota at the Summit 2014. DK, VG, EG & Na'Vi are the final four teams and with only four games left to be played, the stakes couldn’t be any higher.

The end of group stages

Three games were on the menu to round up the remainder of the group stages for the Summit 2014 as the day two begun, and apart from Na'Vi.US, all teams were still in a fierce contention for the Upper Bracket spots. While the Chinese powerhouses VG & DK were slightly ahead of the rest with 3-1 records, the last team to drop out of the top four of the group stages was still left to be decided.
