Posted: 07 Sep 2018 05:32 PM PDT Look at this. https://sourcegaming.info/2015/09/07/smashfacts2/ It shows that Wario was planned for Smash Melee, but due to time constraints, was cut. Melee was released before the first WarioWare game, meaning Wario wouldn't have his motorcycle and his main design would be based on the Wario Land games. [link] [comments]
We might have a character leaked this weekend Posted: 07 Sep 2018 02:49 AM PDT http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/430645447 "The upcoming issue of Famitsu was most certainly guaranteed to cover the direct, and let's not forget about Sakurai's column. Printing begins this weekend, Famitsu is historically known for ALWAYS leaking during this period. So, unless Nintendo can somehow get them to halt printing, we may be getting the latest Smash information through shitty magazine scans. I say somehow, because delaying the issue would cost Famitsu a lot of money and effort they may not be willing to go through, also, test prints may have been done already, so even if they halt production one of those may still leak. Nintendo is very vulnerable right now, there is a direct that we know exists that they're doing their best to hide and now this. Look out for news this weekend." Edit: Confirmed by Pushdustin that we won't [link] [comments]
Controversial Theory: Skull Kid Is A Boss, Not Playable Character Posted: 07 Sep 2018 12:38 PM PDT To start off, I would like to say that I am not against Skull Kids inclusion as a playable character. I love Majora's Mask, and him getting in would be a really cool addition to the roster. That being said, having giving it some thought, I believe that Skull Kid will end up being a boss rather than a playable fighter. This is all just my opinion though, feel free to agree or disagree. One reason why I don't think he'll be playable, is because even though he is pretty popular, his popularity wasn't as big during the Smash Ballot days. We know that Sakurai is using the Ballot for character choices this time around, and Skull Kid didn't seem to have much following during this period. While polls are not 100% accurate, I have not seen a poll during the Ballot days that seem to suggest he was highly voted for, so that to me decreases his chances as playable. Now, I have seen some people mention that back during the lead up to Smash 4, Sakurai had clarified multiple times in one post that Skull Kid wasn't playable but he's an Assist. While this may seem like Sakurai is aware the character is popular, there might be another reason as to why he clarified it in that manner. Skull Kid was one of the first few Assist Trophies to be revealed in Smash 4. In fact, I believe he was the first. Sakurai clarifying Skull Kid was not playable but rather an Assist, could just be Sakurai pointing out that Assist Trophies aren't playable characters since this was the first time they revealed Assists for Smash 4. So yeah, I'm not completely convinced that Sakurai is aware of his huge popularity. Especially if Skull Kid didn't have much of presence during the Ballot. However, there's still a handful of evidence that suggests his inclusion in the game. It does appear that he's no longer an Assist. From my point of view, it's probably a boss, but why do I think so? For one, bosses are another way characters can show up in Smash. If he's not an Assist, nor playable, I'd assume he'd end up in this category. Especially since Skull Kid is a villain. There's also one final thing that makes me think that Skull Kid is a boss and not a playable fighter. That being the Moon becoming an Assist Trophy. I feel like if Skull Kid really was playable, they wouldn't have made this into an Assist Trophy because they would've reserved it for his Final Smash. Now, I know there's a lot of people who would argue that the Moon being an Assist does not hurt his chances (some would say that this actually helps him) because there's another possible option for his Final Smash, that being the Mask transformations the happens towards the end of the game. But I would disagree. I could not see that becoming his Final Smash over the Moon. Hear me out on this. The Moon in Majora's Mask is an iconic part of the game and for the most of it, Skull Kid is trying to crash the Moon into Termina. Why wouldn't that be his Final Smash? It fits perfectly and is a huge nod to that game. Even in Hyrule Warriors (a game where Skull Kid is playable) the Moon is part of his moveset. I mean, I get that the people working on that aren't working on Smash, but I'm pointing out how closely related the Moon and Skull Kid are. The Mask transformations such as Majora's Wrath have no ties to Skull Kid. By the time the Mask goes through all those cool looking transformations in Majora's Mask, it already had ditched Skull Kid and he's no longer a part of it. So why would that get in as a Final Smash over the Moon which is better related to Skull Kid? I just don't see it. Unless however, the Mask transformations aren't part of Skull Kid's Final Smash, rather they are part of another phase in a Skull Kid boss fight. Think about it, it is implied that bosses can have different phases. Rewatching the August Smash direct, we see that Dracula can transform into that demon looking form. So who's to say that this can't happen to other bosses? If there is a Skull Kid boss fight, It'd make sense after a number of hits that the Mask would detatch itself and attack you by itself utilizing the transformations he uses in Majora's Mask. To me personally, this would make a lot more sense than it being Skull Kids Final Smash. Especially since in Majora's Mask, Skull Kid is not in any way tied to the transformations. However as I stated earlier, this is just my opinion on it. I feel like based on what we've seen, Skull Kid being a boss seems more likely than a playable character. Maybe I'm completely wrong and he ends up getting annonced as playable. But currently, this is my theory on it. (Edit:) Tl;Dr: I think that because Skull Kid did not have a strong enough presence on the Ballot he probably won't be playable. He'll more likely be a boss given how one of his Final Smash options is an Assist Trophy and how his other Final Smash option would fit better as a phase in a boss rather than a Final Smash. Posted: 07 Sep 2018 06:44 AM PDT I feel like Nintendo could plausibly do either of these so I was interested what people would be more hyped for. Personally I'd have to pick the unlimited small demo, even if it's only maybe 5 characters and one stage, so I can keep getting my Ultimate fix as and when I need it! EDIT: I've had 24 responses so far which give a clear indication one way or the other, and because I'm bored I have crunched the numbers to give the following extremely scientific results: Small unlimited demo - 12 (50.0%) Full time-limited demo - 10 (41.7%) Neither - 2 (8.3%) So now you know. Has anybody bothered to go back to the first reveal and match up character silhouettes? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 05:22 PM PDT I'm not a fancy computer man but I lurk a lot and haven't ever seen a post where someone has taken the known roster and tried to match them up with the silhouettes from the Inkling reveal. Has anyone seen something like that? Edit: definitely saw this when the reveal first happened but definitely not since the "Everyone is Here" announcement, or the new character reveals from last direct. [link] [comments]
