Street Fighter V and how it's handling DLC

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 11:32 PM PDT

I've never done this before, I opened an account just for this.

This Is my first post on anything ever, so please bear with me.

I've thought long and hard about how to start this, so here goes nothing.

Playing videos games, whether it be alone, with siblings, friends and even total strangers, has always felt like an escape from all noise that life throws at me, a way to bound with friends and family.

From the early days of the SNES, I have always paid attention when Capcom (among others but they are not the subject of this write up) released a video game.

Megaman, Castlevania, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Dino Crisis, Resident Evil, Onimusha, Devil May Cry, Rival Schools, Darkstalkers, the VS series and Street Fighter.

These franchises from Capcom among others, have always stuck with me, I played them all and still replay some. So….safe to say, I am a Capcom fan.

Street Fighter in particular, has always been with me. I have bought all iterations of the game. Sometimes, multiple copies of the same iteration of the same game….yeah, you read that right. So 3 copies of Street Fighter 2 ST, 2 copies of 3rd strike…….that kind of thing.

Which brings me to Street Fighter V. Now I'm not here to drag through Capcom's missteps with the initial release of SF5, I leave that to others. I just have one particular complaint and it has to do with the way the DLCs and season passes for this game are handled.

Sony made it possible to carry over your profile from the PS3 to the PS4. They also made it possible to have multiple profiles on one console.

While the games are not region locked, the DLCs are. But Sony again, made it possible to buy DLC on one profile and play said DLC on the other profiles, as long as the purchasing profile is 'primary' on the console. That means I can buy a DLC for a games on profile A, and play said DLC on profile B. Those that have left one region to live in another know what I'm talking about.

I have multiple profiles on my console (2 for me, 1 for my kid brother and 1 for friends that come around to play one), I have also had to move between regions because…..well life.

Street Fighter 5 to the best of my knowledge, is the only game that doesn't allow this.

If I am going to pay real money for a season pass, stages, character costumes or the CPT packs, I expect to be able use these items across all profiles on my console, like every other game out there.

There's difference between spending real money and SFV's fight money.

If I buy any item with fight money I earned playing SFV, by all means lock it to my profile, I have no problem with that. But when I pay real money for an item, then like every other game out there, it should be available to all profiles. I shouldn't have to buy multiple copies of the same DLC for every profile on my console. I'm pretty sure I am not alone in this.

I didn't have to this with SF4, MKX, Injustice 1 or 2, DBFZ, Tekken 7, Guilty Gear, Uncharted, Nioh, GTA 4, Tomb Raider, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Following……………………..the list goes on.

So Capcom, whomever is in charge of the updates, DLCs for SFV, I'm not here to bash on you, as stated above, I have been a fan for a while now, just pointing out a misstep and hope that after 2 years with this, game you address this problem.

It's a quality of life change I'm sure a lot of people out there would appreciate, I certainly would. Then maybe I can get around to buying costumes and colors and CPT packs.

Juri links question

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 10:06 AM PDT

i noticed the mk -> qcb k link has to be perfectly distanced so that the mk hits at the right time for the qcb k input to come out before the second hit of the mk- if its too far the mk is one hit and too near the first hit is too soon for the input and if the second hit comes out then it sort of ends the combo

is this how capcom intended or is the qcb k input actually just cancelling the mk, but it just works in a combo because theres no time to block/recover?

Participating in Premier tournament for the thrill

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 06:08 AM PDT

I'm attending dreamhack mtl to watch both CSGO and SF5 tournaments.

Since its free to register for the premier I said to myself it would be a fun experience to try to compete, even though I dont expect to go that far.

What are your thoughts on players participating in tournaments for the thrill of it?

Nevertheless, I dont consider my self a rookie or anything like that. Been playing street fighter since 2012 and have 3200+ match in SF5 battle lounge with mostly random ppl. Also built my own SF5 barcade so I'm definitely passionate about the game.

Thank you for your feedback

Questions about Chun Li

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 05:45 AM PDT

Hey all, new to the sub. I was just wondering about some of Chun Li's combos. I've seen some guides online, but they seem outta date. I also find some of the terminology confusing... the terms for the buttons I'm familiar with but phrases like meaty or bread and butter are lost on me (although I've learned those two). Any Chun Li's out there have some advice? Are those combos still good for the current version of the game? Any help is appreciated.

Sf 1 memories

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 03:29 AM PDT

As it is sf1 31st anniversary I thought I'd ask if anyone remembers playing this competitively. I remember that even though there was basically just one character as Ken and ryu were exactly the same people would still put quarters up and slug it out. Basically the game was hot garbage but before each match you would decide if you we're going to allow specials and as remember 99 percent of the time both opponents would agree on allowing them so it would basically degrade into 2 guys spazzing out on the joystick trying to churn out a fireball lol.
