Posted: 01 Sep 2018 05:33 AM PDT Whenever a true fan of The Elder Scrolls dies, if they were haters of Fast Travel (because it messed up Immersion), the hidden gods of TES, Emkay and Godd-Howard, take their souls through the Dreamsleeve and turn them into slaughterfish. These dedicated beings then spend their eternity as roleplay sentinels, making sure that no one else can ever fast travel, because they are almost all-seeing. This is why, if one catches sight of you, you have to either kill it (which is difficult, since you can't swing a weapon in the water) or run the length of Skyrim to escape their gaze. And, by then, you might as well have run to wherever you were going anyway. As an added bonus, since they are aquatic beings, they never break immersion. [link] [comments]

I just had the most amazing random encounter ever. Posted: 31 Aug 2018 01:09 PM PDT Was walking through Solstheim to get Gunmar for the Dawnguard and I heard a voice. I went closer to investigate and saw a wizard. As he said "Nothing to worry about, nothing to worry about at all" he charged a master spell and boom, he skyrocketed into the air. At first he was laughing, saying "I'm flying haha!" A few seconds later he smashed dead into the ground. It's little things like these that make this game so fucking amazing! [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Aug 2018 07:50 PM PDT I've been wanting to get this off my chest for a while, and been looking for the place to do so for some time, and I think this sub'll suffice So here goes. A while back, I decided that I'd try and do a Nordic Paladin playthrough, complete the main quest and be an all around "nice' character. Of course, before long, Lydia was following me. Now, normally I'd try and keep Lydia dicking around Whiterun to watch Breezehome and so I wouldn't walk into an empty house with dragon bones all over the floor but that day I was feeling particularly adventurous-and immersed, so I decided to head into the mountains near the great shrine to Azura and see if there were any dungeons I'd never found or maybe some random beasts or people to encounter. Now, I have the frostfall mod installed, so I had to be especially careful when traveling to mountainous regions, so I stopped frequently as I had fast travel turned off and would obviously need to build fires over the course of my travels. Maybe it was my lack of sleep, maybe I was getting cabin fever from my first Colorado winter, I don't know, but as time went on, the regions got colder and my stops more frequent I began to feel attached to Lydia. Sometimes I'd just stand there and stare at her expressionless face, home to those larger-than-average lips and big, pale forehead and simply be grateful for her company. But I was also always on guard. There were frostbite spiders and bandits aplenty, not to mention the occasional Imperial legion/Thalmor/Stormcloak skirmish occurring in the nearby forests. One day at about 5 AM we broke camp and headed on our way north, and tragedy struck. I was jogging through the forests whenever we encountered a Thalmor patrol. Me, being the oh-so-noble stormcloak sympathizer I am decided that the best thing to hack them to pieces. On sheer impulse, I swung my steel greatsword at one of the Elves and a couple swings later I watched it plunge through her in a death animation. After that, I was getting ready to tear through the second of the three Thalmor but I realized that my health had suffered greatly in the first seconds of the fight and I only had a single goat cheese wheel and minor health potion to pull me through the rest. I guzzled down the potion and voraciously consumed the cheese and went to work on the second Thalmor bitch and before long she too was lifeless on the cold Nordic ground but by now my health had suffered greatly and since I was barely above level 10 there was no hope of the level-up screen saving me. I fled into the forest nearby and was shot at by some nearby bandits. I shouted the bowman into a small crevice which gave me enough time to run away and hide. Once they'd ceased to pursue me, I slowly and carefully made my way back to the road which Lydia and myself had been traveling on. There, my heart sank. Mere feet in front of my laid Lydia's backwards-leaning corpse and the body of a Thalmor wizard, both surrounded by wolves. I quickly killed the three wolves and sat there, mortified. There she was, staring at me with those same dead eyes, only now she wouldn't be asking what her thane needed any longer. I saved my game, quit, and never reloaded that save since. It's been a solid eight months and the loss of Lydia has tortured me ever since. Thank you all who made it this far, I'm sure I'm not the only one with a traumatic Lydia experience.
