Posted: 31 Aug 2018 10:07 PM PDT

In this weekly thread you can discuss the Defense roles of Overwatch to your heart's delight. What are the characteristics of those heroes?

The main objective of the defense role is to guard locations, create choke points, and establish a front. They may have long range weapons or the ability to create turrets, and excel at area denial.

Overwatch Wikia

You can find a list of the current defensive heroes on the Overwatch Hero Overview.

Share guides and strategies that are valuable to a defensive Overwatch Hero or other tips and tricks that helped you to get better. You can also propose ideas why a certain hero is bad in your eyes and how to make it better. Please do so in a constructive way!

Blizz, please give healers a % team damage healed stat

Posted: 01 Sep 2018 01:17 PM PDT

So, first off, I just wanna say: the Healing Done stat is not really that meaningful. Sure, it feels great to hit tab and see a huge number there. But it doesn't really tell you how you're doing. I really love it when I see a card at the end of the game that says 52% team damage taken or whatever. Percent of team damage taken is a much clearer indicator of how well a healer is performing though. If I get 3k healing the entire game, but that's like half of the team's total damage taken, I did my job well. If you hit tab and see "10k healing done" sure, it looks impressive, but if that's only like 10% of the total damage your team has taken, it's not really all that much. I've seen people all over here and the official forums saying that "as X healer, you want Y amount of healing done per minute" but that doesn't really hold up in games where your team takes a larger or smaller than expected amount of damage.

So please, Blizzard, show the % team damage taken stat for healers. It's a small change, sure, but a lot of us support mains would appreciate it so much, and it would allow for a better indication of how well we're actually doing

And there is only one thing we say to Death: Not today.

Close range headshots on Genjis and Tracers are always satisfying. Even more so when they're ulting.

Reinhardt, do you need help crossing the street?

Fastball Zenyatta should say "strikeout" if he gets a final blow headshot

Posted: 01 Sep 2018 08:19 AM PDT

Since we have the odd final blow voice line between certain heroes, it wouldn't be unheard of to give a hero a voice line for a final blow against everyone, as long as it's rare enough. So, since Fastball Zenyatta is literally throwing baseballs at people, it would be cool to hear him say "strikeout" if he got a headshot that resulted in a final blow.

Endorsement Level Falls When Not Enough Players

Posted: 01 Sep 2018 11:22 AM PDT

I've noticed this happen a few times over the past few weeks. Whenever the match maker doesn't have enough players to start the game and it throws me back into the queue again, my endorsement level falls.

Anyone else noticed this?

Opinion: matches with leavers should not be counted into placement

Posted: 01 Sep 2018 07:13 AM PDT

So, Season 11 starts. You go to play your placement matches. Game goes pretty fine, you almost win first round, but then member of your team leaves. What that means to you? That's right, free loss and lower placement. Was that your fault? No. Was that fault of bad communication/teamplay? Most likely, no. You lost basically because you were outnumbered. There are so many ways to fix that : reinstancing, hard bots etc. Even if this loss would count as draw/not count into placement at all, this would be way better than what we have now. Harder punishments for leavers would work as well - "you're a bad boy" and -75% XP for a few games is not enough.

Leavers were (and are) one of the biggest problems in the Overwatch MM for a very long time, not only leaving the game, but also dismoralling their entire team. Sure, it's quite late to change placement strategy when season has already started, but I hope Blizzard will finally do something about that in Season 12.
