Posted: 03 Sep 2018 07:02 AM PDT PSA: The Devs of Fortnite are very busy, albeit with BR when it should be even with STW, at least give them a day or two to respond to this grocery list of issues. All due respect, some divisions of priority of the Fortnite team may not be their fault. Battle Royale has become the focal point of Fortnite so badly that Save the World is becoming completely un-playable. If anyone can help me with these bugs please reply below. If not, get this post up there so the devs may see this awareness. All the following glitches (posted pre-edit of this post) occurred on an original XBOX One console, not cross-playing with other platforms: • FROZEN IN TIME! Game will hit a performance lag spike that lasts around 5 seconds at random points in a game, causing your screen to freeze. The only thing I can find that causes this is it happens often upon hover-board activation, but it also happens when no one is activating one. ~SIDE NOTE: The game will sometimes crash during these periods. • COMPLETELY DISARMED! At random points, for seemingly no reason: You will not be able to attack, take damage, or build for a minimum of 5 seconds, sometimes lasting up to 2 WHOLE MINUTES. Players and husks still move and attack around you like normal, but you just can't do anything. Even your abilities will do no damage. Hover-board will not activate during this period either. After the time period is over all damage done to your player in the time will instantly catch up to you. • MORE HOVER-BOARDS ISSUES! Speaking of the hover-board, upon its activation sometimes, your gun will disappear, and you will not don the hover-board for a few seconds, and then suddenly you will teleport a large distance forward and be on the hover-board. Players and husks move as normal in this period of lag, so once again it is not a connection issue. • PATHING ISSUES! Sometimes during Encampment missions (or side-missions), Husks will completely run away from the Encampment as far as possible, getting trapped in buildings or caves, rendering it extremely difficult. This is especially annoying in Encampment missions that disable Husks on the radar, making it near impossible to complete the mission in some cases. • MISSION COMPLETED/FAILED SCREEN: Sometimes the screen will be so bugged out it will instead view the players from the back— who aren't even in order, sometimes strewn about all over the map. During this period of the disorderly screen, the reward chests and your stats will not display as normal. ~SIDE NOTE: The game will sometimes crash when this happens, making it especially frustrating if you have just completed a mission. • ANTI-MATERIAL CHARGE: For this ability on Outlanders, sometimes nothing will be destroyed— even when fully charged. Usually this is the case because objects you can search are in the way, but it happens frequently enough with structures that do not have anything to search near them. Also with this ability, it may not play any sounds upon activation for the entire match. [NEW] ADDED BUGS: • IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE! Bit-Hitching when changing and/or upgrading survivors, heroes (mini-lag spikes) • QUIET PLEASE! I AM SEEING! When trying to view the map to select a mission, MAJOR lag spikes occur when switching between locations. • TEAMMATES ARE FOR HELP, NOT FOR PROBLEMS! When teammates enter a game, a lag spike lasting nearly 5 seconds occurs. • "THIS IS MADNESS!" Performance overhaul is much needed for Save the World. Battle Royale's map is the equivalent of 15 Save the World maps, so what's the big deal with the FPS lag in Save the World? • (PC) SNAKE EYES! It's a gamble whenever you Alt+Tab to your desktop whilst playing Save the World. Your game may freeze, and also freeze your PC, forcing a hard power button restart to your computer. • YOU ARE NOT A BEAR! T.E.D.D.Y. and Shock Tower usages reportedly cause glitchy behavior to Husks, i.e. teleporting and shifting randomly. • "A LIL' BUILDING..." Season 2 building glitch is back! Instead of remembering the selection of your building choice, it will randomly switch at times (better explanation: You select a wall. You switch out of build mode. You switch back into build mode, and for some reason it gives you the flooring) (all platforms) • <INCOHERENT BEEPING NOISES> Global Chat STILL is not fixed! Even in-game chat is still hardly usable! COMMUNICATION IS KEY! (all platforms) • FOV: WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? Quite self-explanatory. FOV changes at random during missions, causing difficulty to see...Happens on all platforms! • MUSIC: Upon start-up of Save the World, no in-game music plays (with music turned on, obviously) • LOADING…: On all platforms, a loading bug may occur where the screen to start a mission will take up to 15 minutes, or may last infinitely, causing you to have to restart the game. • INVITES BUG/FIX: (PC) Quote: "Whenever someone sends me an invite when im playing in a mission it minimizes the window and I have to click back into it just for the game to now allow me to move my view or shoot. I have to press ESC just for everything to return back to normal" If you are experiencing any bugs I may not have listed PLEASE LET ME KNOW. We need to get this game-mode fixed ASAP. Those Skill Points aren't going to farm themselves! [NEW] POSSIBLE TEMP. FIXES: • (XBOX) When it comes to performance and lag issues, for some it might help (although not entirely fixing the problem) to uninstall Fortnite from your external storage, and instead re-install it to your console's internal storage. • (ALL PLATFORMS) For the Season 2 building fix, a tiny work-around could be to disable "Remember Building Choice" in the settings, and instead get used to that option instead of dealing with random structures being chosen. • (TESTED ON XBOX) Music bug easily fixed by scrolling to the "Loot" tab, causing music to play once again. A Nearly Perfect Solution to Discourage Toxic Players Posted: 03 Sep 2018 06:21 PM PDT Hi everyone, Leaf here, Alpha player for nearly 3 years now. At the current moment and even back then, the problem I feel is the absolute worst for STW, the one that beats all others even above game-breaking bugs and poor image control what with traders and scammers... Is the community itself. Or to put it into better words Toxic Players. The whole central premise of Save the World Fortnite, the thing that Fortnite has preached and practiced from the earliest days of Alpha, was a team-oriented gameplay experience. A cooperative experience that requires any level of sacrifice and unity between the people undergoing the challenges the game offers. So it should be no surprise to anyone when I say that this is the biggest problem when going into STW. If you've played any number of Public matches, you know full well what and who this problem encompasses. Leechers, AFKers, Taxi's, Beggers and Traders, Archeolojess, or even simply rudebois. We know them by many names, these infamous (((((TL:DR Version, the solution: Focus on prevention more than punishment, incentivize players to contribute by pushing them towards that goal of participating in a mission objective. Do away with mission reward tiered chests and use a new calculation system to base mission rewards off of an individual player-contribution system like the Combat, Building, and Utility Badges do collectively through teamwork, but one that calculates SOLELY on contribution towards a mission objective individually, like building walls and traps around the objective or fighting the husks aimed at the objective once the waves of husks start. That way, if you see anyone with low Combat, Building, and Utility numbers, the other players can be at least satisfied with the fact that those players will be gaining next to nothing's worth of XP and mission rewards. Waste their time, push them to help, and make it so that you actually need decent stats at the PL difficulty of mission you're playing in in order to get the most rewards out of it since a low PL in a High PL mission will get a low score anyway. Banning players temporarily will only get you so far. What the game needs is preventive, incentive measures. Work off of human-nature, not against it. The system I've proposed can be a lot more complex, offering to promote team solidarity by making it so that team-gauged badges can still exist, and still offer a boost towards the mission-rewards via multipliers depending on the badge rarity. The numbers can be easily calculated too, and made to push everyone to contribute to every aspect of a mission and not a singular part of it like combat alone (since some classes like Teddy Outlanders can get huge combat scores). You can offer exponentially diminishing XP per contribution returns when reaching a soft cap like 3,000 combat as an example, or 500 building or so.))))) And for the love of god, properly tutorialize new players on its systems and help discourage all the nasty, improper and game-ruining aspects of the game like the trading/scamming community or AFKing and the like through in-game PSA's and communication. Fear doesn't last forever, and ignorance ruins your image. For a more in-depth review of this problem and the solution, read on below. Now, this problem is so wide-reaching that it's difficult to offer only one universal solution to this. And while the issues have been talked about before in great length on how to fix these, with many of these fixes being more obvious than others, in my many years of playing the game and many other games, I think the saying "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is the most solid solution towards any one problem. We cannot expect for these issues to go away overnight, and the game has tried many times in the past to use strong-arm methods to curb these problems from happening again with resounding failure/poor hindsight. For now though, I will be talking more about Leechers, Afkers, and Unhelpful harvesters, as the other types of Toxic Players are already being addressed to some degree by Epic. So without stalling further, what are the problems and how do we fix them?
Let me ask you before we begin... why do these people do what they do? The answer is very simple, and very short. Because it's easy. Funny enough, one of my favorite comedians, Dave Chappelle once said something very eloquent towards something similar to this. It was on the state of Hollywood and all problems facing it between the people in power. He said that a lot of famous actors and people in power were trying to help, and getting accosted because they ad participated in that system at one point or another in their lifetime. He went on to say that this system was so complex, that to even recognize the problem plaguing it and the way to fix it, was to have everyone who participated in it said what they did. That the system that incentivised this was the true culprit, and everyone else was a victim. So what does that have to do with STW and people like the leechers, beggers, and harvesters? A lot actually. You see, the system that Fortnite Save the World has created over many many years, around 5 or 6 now I think, to me is inherently flawed. The central premise of harvesting, creating and constructing defenses and weapons to use against hordes on a match-by-match basis is inherently flawed, and it incentivizes these people to do what they do. I love STW and I myself think that conceptually, there can never be another game like Fortnite. It is incredibly unique and fun. But at its core, the gameplay itself is flawed. What do I mean by this?
So what's the inherent problem in all this? Well, there are many factors that make other players act out the way they do. For one, this is a cooperative experience and building a fort should be a team effort. The ideal and intended situation is that everyone either builds the walls together or decides to let one person build the way they see fit, and then the other players are meant to help in upgrading walls and building traps to alleviate the constructor's costs. But that's not what happens, and the toxic players instead do nothing to help the build or to even help with the waves of husks. Why? Because it's easy. It's easy to not contribute. It's easy to sit on your hands and get the same mission rewards as everyone else once the mission completes. It's easy to not give any of your own resources for the cause, so that you can have some for later. It is easy for these people to do what they do. How do we fix it? I know what most of you will say immediately. The answer is... report those players. Make it so that they are punished for what they are not doing, as it harms the rest of us. Justifiably so, as this is correct thing to do. But remember what I said. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". That the system is inherently flawed, and that this system is composed of asking its players to sacrifice resources that they spent time in collecting. Unity is overshadowed by greed, because the alternative is being left with nothing as you give up your own resources, while everyone else is not participating in that goal, so you yourself end up giving more of your resources, resources that you spent hard work and time into obtaining and farming so that you could go and just do the actual game, the process of defending a base. The game demands too much of one person, and that's why solo'ing the game isn't simply the option to fall back onto. Prevention is far more important than curing. It keeps us from ever feeling sick to begin with, and the disease can one day fall into obscurity so that hardly anyone has to go through it again.
It doesn't have to be a complex system either. You can make it so that your contribution towards the 3 different badges counts towards that goal, offering exponentially diminishing returns after a certain amount of points (like 3k combat for example), so that it helps or at least incentivize players to make their own walls/upgrade existing ones to help get the most XP and rewards out of the mission rewards. You can even make it so that the badges can still upgrade to platinum between collective team-work effort, and that too can be a reward multiplier for each individual player depending on the badge rarity, for more team solidarity. I have many more ways I could expand on this to make this system nearly fool proof, but unless I'm prompted by the actual dev team, I doubt I will continue as of this point, it amounts to nothing more than preaching to the wind. If you care about this old fool's opinions, here's another system that can theoretically help in reducing unhelpful harvesters and non-building/non-contributing griefers. This system that I've thought up makes it so that you can dismantle and create in-game resources easier so the players who do want to help out, can do so without feeling like they're sacrificing hours of their time by creating multiple traps/guns for any one single defense. Check it out! https://www.reddit.com/r/FORTnITE/comments/9cfiz4/a_use_for_excess_research_and_the_old_alpha/ Also, I have a lot more intricate ideas on this singular subjective as I have thought a lot about in detail. If you really REALLY care about what I have to say, go ahead and voice that to me and I'll consider it. Otherwise, again, it's probably the equivalent of preaching to the wind by placing it in a public forum like reddit. [link] [comments]

Fortnite Account Hacked: I learned customer service has no resources to help Posted: 03 Sep 2018 07:03 AM PDT It's not a wonderful feeling to get your game taken by a hacker. It's a worse feeling not getting any help from Epic. Sure wish they had a phone number to report fraud. They don't seem to answer customer tickets timely. I like the game but when a Russian Hacker visits and changes your password its a heart breaker. Not to mention you worry about your credit card. Two-step authentication? Ah, no. I'm strange, I don't use Facebook. Google sign in? Ah, no/ I bought the game and set it up with a non-google e-mail and there wasn't an option to change e-mails on Fortnite. Yes, I called my credit card company and cancelled the card. Since I purchased the right to play the co-op version, I'd like to continue to access it and have "my stuff." I play on my computer not a console. I don't have a console. Wednesday, while working at the office, to my surprise, I received an e-mail that Fortnite had added a console to my profile. I thought that was strange but hey they are patching. I did respond to Epic that no, I didn't change anything and don't have a console, and then forgot about the e-mail. When I got home I started playing to get my aggression out. All was good as I killed zombies in a few games, then I got kicked. Damn service provider I thought; I logged back on. Got kicked again. Wash and repeat, right? Until I got an email on my phone in Russian from Epic Games--major sinking feeling. Then another e-mail from Epic arrived, sigh (no I didn't click any links or respond---can't read Russian anyway). I tried to log-in to change my password. The hacker got to my Epic Profile first. However, I did change my password. That trouble ticket. Well, honestly I sent two. I was unsure what category to select. No Fraud alert or stolen account option. After a few Billion dollars of revenue I'd think Epic could afford a couple employees for a Fraud telephone number or instant chat. Sure glad American Express has that 800 number on the back of its card. I did get an e-mail back from Epic after a few days with a link "to make sure it was me," asking me to confirm my e-mail address. The link took me to the account profile page, which the hacker had modified. Because the profile page details were changed I was disallowed from making new changes for two weeks, so no confirm back was possible: "too many resubmissions have been received." Thus the Russian hacker hijacked Epic's verification system. Oh, I did get back in. The hacker bought me a nice Pink Bunny costume and a rescue package. If that cost real money I won't be paying. New American Express Card remember, fraud alert via telephone to a friendly service provider who answered. I had another Epic moment of sadness and wrote this post after a good night's sleep. Can we have the option to choose what permissions we give during SSDs Posted: 03 Sep 2018 01:02 PM PDT Something like •Place Builings •Edit Building •Upgrade Building •Destroy Building •Place Traps •Taking mats I think this would help with Trolls, Traders, AFKers. So if you give some perms to help with the mission you can make sure they're not gonna break something, spam random building, or do something they're not suppose to do. [link] [comments]
Vote to end mission button, when? Posted: 03 Sep 2018 07:30 PM PDT I think it's super annoying having to do like build the radar and survivor missions and they take 20 whole minutes. Why is there not an option for every player to vote to end the mission after completing the objective? [link] [comments]
Is it still possible to obtain Redline Ramirez? Posted: 03 Sep 2018 01:09 PM PDT So, I play this game with my mom and she kind of wanted Redline Ramirez because it would be her first legendary hero. She wanted redline ramirez if it meant she only had to do the horde successfully one time to get her. She's PL6 and the weekly mission is PL15. But is it still possible to get her? I know week 5 came out today, but I could still get my sir hootie schematic even when redline was available. I don't have redline either, and I'd like her for expeditions. Tl;dr - is it still possible to get redline ramirez, even though it's week 5? Edit: Thanks guys, I logged onto my mom's account since she CANNOT do the horde on her own. She's PL7 now and the mission was PL15 so I played as her. She also logged onto my account to do it with me, since I have a massive offense stat from my survivor squads I gave everyone good damage. We ended up winning first try and we both got redline ramirez! Mom is so excited to have her first legendary hero [link] [comments] |
