smile sunday - September 02, 2018

Posted: 02 Sep 2018 08:13 AM PDT

welcome to smile sunday, turn that caps lock off and gush about whatever has made you smile this week!

a few things to keep in mind:

  • if you want to do some uppercase letters, feel free to, but try to avoid shouting! sunday is a chill day.

  • avoid being happy at the expense of others. not talking about opinons or having a really good match as survivor or killer; talking stuff like "haha, i'm really happy consoles don't get bill but i do on steam!"

Best Thing Ever Just Happened

I got found when there were five gens to go. And I got camped.

By the time I died, the exit gates were powered. This was at rank 15.

I'm so proud of my teammates. All 3 escaped.

Add a 'Preview' option to the cosmetic store.

Posted: 02 Sep 2018 08:15 AM PDT

Please add this so we can mix and mash different cosmetic items with others. Essentially a dressing room option. If you give us the option to do so, we can decide better if we want to buy certain cosmetics.

Is it true that Ochido is now on PS4 ? :(

Posted: 02 Sep 2018 06:36 AM PDT

I hope to God that he isn't planning on staying, but...

I heard he got a 'Hardware ID ban (HWiD)' on PC version of Dead by Daylight. I was playing a game the other day where I was rank 2 or 3, with a rank 12, 17 and 20 (Playstation late night matchmaking) and the killer was rank 17. I notice one survivor with a flashlight, t-bagging at pallets, looping for 4 gens and this survivor was the rank 17 survivor!

Anyway, I messaged the survivor to ask why he was so toxic and why does he do it against baby killers when he is clearly not a rank 17 survivor. Anyway, his bio was 'DUD' and he messaged me back with broken English and said it was his second account etc and that he has over 4000 hours on the game (something PS4 players never say) and that I didn't know who he was. I responded with 'you think your ochido or what' and he put 'Ochido 2.0.' That was the end of that - I never thought much of it just probably a kid.

Just now looking over twitter I come across a video of Ochido playing Dead by Daylight on the PS4! WTF! I am not gonna watch it as I can't stand his content, but I saw his game load in and in his game he had the same person (PSN name) who was in my game and messaging me as a player in the bottom left - at the start when it loads.

I Just hope to God he doesn't start to play PS4 as it will just make it so much more toxic for us guys. He is a big part of the reason this community is toxic in my opinion. If anyone can confirm he is playing on PS4 now it would be great... oh maybe not!

Why is Decisive Strike criticized for being a 'free' perk, but Rancor isn't?

Posted: 02 Sep 2018 10:53 AM PDT

I'm curious why the general consensus seems to be Decisive Strike should be changed because it's a 'free' perk - but when suggesting changes to the instant-kill part of Rancor, people don't seem as critical.

Decisive Strike supports a Survivor's poor playstyle by letting them avoid being hooked on their first knockdown (if they pass a Skill Check), and Rancor supports a Killer's poor playstyle by letting them kill the Obsession (by hitting them once), even if that Obsession has eluded them the whole match and avoided being hooked so far. Decisive Strike has counter-play in dribbling, slugging, or using Unnerving Presence, Enduring or Doctor's Madness. Rancor's only counter-play is being extremely stealthy (which isn't so easy as Rancor reveals Survivor positions), and cautious - there's not really explicit counters to being instantly knocked down and killed.

So... why is Decisive Strike considered a problem, but Rancor isn't being talked about in the same way? Aren't they incredibly similar in terms of rewarding poor skill on part of the user? Why is the Killer entitled to (what is essentially) a free kill at the end of the game, but a Survivor (who may be the target of Obsession related perks) isn't entitled to freely escaping the Killer's grasp once?

Surely anyone who claims to be a proponent of healthy balance should be equally opposed to Rancor's instant-kill properties as they are Decisive Strike's escape properties? Wouldn't it be more appropriate if Rancor only included the Exposed or Kill effect, rather than both?

When you realize you should take a break from the game

Posted: 02 Sep 2018 01:17 PM PDT

So I just finished up a game against Wraith a few minutes ago. I left my room to go grab lunch and on my way back, I heard church bells ringing from across campus. I instinctively JUMPED and nearly dropped my lunch.

Also, I paid way too much for paper towels. $3 for a roll. Really???

A survivor getting tortured

A guide on what is and isn't camping

Posted: 02 Sep 2018 12:35 PM PDT

Camping is:

  • Leatherface sitting right beside you after hooking you not moving a muscle.

Camping is not:

  • Placing traps around the hook as a trap killer (Trapper / Hag / To an extent Clown)

  • The killer standing beside the hook while 3 survivors point at him / her from 3 meters away.

  • The killer standing beside the hook while 3 survivors teabag in the exit gate.

  • The killer hooking a survivor and then turning around just for another survivor to immediately unhook the hooked survivor before the killer has even left.

  • The Killer going after an injured survivor instead of one who's at full health. (This isn't tunneling either; it's common sense and basic mathematics.)

  • Chasing a survivor around the hook cause they refuse to leave the hook.

  • Walking around the hook cause there are only 3 generators left and they're all near the hook anyways.

  • The killer hooking a survivor and then leaving so that you can safely unhook them.

Just felt that I needed to share this.
