True Dota 2 - Why do some carry heroes buy blink?

Why do some carry heroes buy blink?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 02:07 PM PDT

Hey guys, ancient 1 here, just trying to figure out why certain heroes like pl and jugg occasionally pick up the blink dagger, it doesn't make much sense to me tbh. The only thing I can think of is to initiate on heroes that can't do anything if you run at them, I.e. position 5's and some position 4's, and MAYBE to escape. Any ideas?

How to properly lane pos1 nowadays?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 05:37 AM PDT

I mean, on paper, it sounds easy -- bring a lot of regen, pull creeps, play with aggro, get only safe lasthits.

In reality, I find myself struggling against 90% of offlanes. The fact that you have to balance between lasthitting and responding to enemy harass results in either you or your support taking extra damage. It's even worse when it's something like Lich or Enigma that can mess with the equilibrium and drag the wave out of your tower. What is the correct play to get the most out of your lane?

Silencer W worth getting it?

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 10:11 PM PDT

There was a guy in another post who gave me a pretty good insight why W is not worth getting it at the laning stage. Basically he claimed that in terms of the damage output mastering Q and E is better.

While I agree, I still think to some degree the Glaives of Wisdom is what enables Silencer extremely annoying to be dealt with as an enemy; he can harass from anywhere with orb walk. I been playing him a lot in my ranked and I cant imagine playing the lane without W.

I am opening a new thread to hear everyone's opinon on this. Thanks.

Is damage from tombstone zombies physical?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 03:49 PM PDT

Just played a game as undying and loved it. I mean, I knew what he does, but never really played him. But looking afterwards, unless I am blind I don't see it listing anything about the zombie damage: both type AND amount. Might make a difference with the 3rd talent if I knew. Thanks for any help.

Low win % with traditional mid heros

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 12:01 PM PDT

I am curious as to why my win percentages are very low (~44%) with traditional mid heros: Tinker, Storm, Qop, OD, SF, TA?

Is there some trend or concept that I am completely missing that these heros have in common?

Back after 1 year hiatus please help me

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 02:51 PM PDT

Hey guys, my friends made me get back into DOTA after not playing much senior year at college and I am completely lost. First of all I left the game at 2.8-3k and I after a few games I know I cannot hang anymore at this moment. I was wondering if y'all could help me understand the meta slightly or suggest some good mid/pos 2 (where I usually play) or roaming heroes that are strong right now. Also any tips on the laning meta, i have been noticing a lot of 2-1-2 as opposed to the constant solo offline/trilane I saw when I left. Thanks!

Traditional mid heroes being played in the offlane?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 09:23 AM PDT

Something I've been seeing more and more of now that the 2-1-2 meta is firmly entrenched is people playing traditional mid heroes in the offlane. Zeus, DK, Razor, Pugna, hell even Storm (Liquid did it recently) and Lina. It seems like people view the offlane as a kind of midlane lite now, where the supports kind of cancel each other out, and then the two cores battle over the farm. I haven't seen it done yet, but OD actually seems like a good offlaner (tanky, high move speed, good attack animation, never runs out of mana, can zone or escape with astral).

Are there any mid heroes that you would *never* play offlane in this meta?

PA Rework Idea

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 09:16 AM PDT

  • Coup De Grace
  • Active: Certain Crit
  • Cooldown: 40 seconds
  • Manacost: 100
  • Description: Imbues a 5 second buff which makes PA glow and makes the next hit/dagger crit for certain.
  • Notes: Adds this ability on top of the existing Coup De Grace passive.

PA is pretty weak right now and having the security of a certain crit would be nice for ganks.

[EDIT]: Added the possibility of having PA's crit to stop functioning for a set period of time after using certain crit for balancing.

Thoughts?
