Hi everyone!

PTS for 5.14 - Goddess of Volcanoes is Live for the night! We've got a couple of balance changes that we want to update everyone on so be sure to check them out below.

Item Balance

Gladiator's Shield

We have decided to revert this change based on player feedback and PTS testing. The design team will continue to explore creative ways to tackle this issue in a future update.

God Balance

Pele

Reception for Pele has been overwhelmingly positive during PTS and we are really excited. During this initial testing period we have noted that Pele is quite strong and wanted to address a few points before she entered the Live environment. The main theme of these changes revolves around Pele's strong early jungle clear, mostly in ways we didn't intend, as well as her early acceleration into the mid-game.

Eruption

  • Inner Damage reduced from 100/140/180/220/260 to 85/130/175/220/265
  • Note: The description for this ability has been updated but the actual damage values have not. This ability's damage values will be updated in an upcoming PTS build

Magma Rush

  • Reduced damage from 20/25/30/35/40 (+10% of your physical power) every 0.5s to 10/15/20/25/30 (+5% of your physical power) every 0.5s
  • Reduced Amplified Damaged from 40/50/60/70/80 every 0.5s to 20/35/50/65/80 every 0.5s
  • Reduced Movement Speed bonus from 30% to 20% at all ranks
  • Updated description text to clarify this ability should not proc ability item effects.

Volcanic Lightning

  • Reduced Slow from 30% at all ranks to 20/25/30/35/40%
  • Note: The Slow duration has been updated but the description for this ability does not yet reflect this change. This description will be updated in a future PTS build.

Bug Fixes

  • Continue button now works on EOML Commendation page
  • "XXXXXXXXX" no longer appears as the player name above wards/deployables.
  • Pele's ultimate no longer triggers in-hand effects
  • Pele's abilities no longer damage towers.

Known Issues

  • Pele's Ultimate is not affected by increased attack speed
  • Primal Storm Announcer Pack is missing

Can think of 2 recent games where I've been blasted on vgs and on mic for "kill stealing." I was tops in everything except mitigation in both games. Why get mad at someone for carrying you?

In the last two patches there has been a lot of improvements or, at least, attempts of improving the game. This is so refreshing! I know, not all changes are polished and work properly, but it's nice to see that the company does try to improve.

Special thanks for Pele. Her visual design, kit and feel is amazing! We are seriously fine waiting more time if we get gods designed like Pele or Baron.

Overall all, please keep this going!

Role picker without long queue times - how to dummy's guide

Many people have requested over the years a system to choose your role beforehand. I thought of a way to do that without making queue times longer or dependant of a certain amount of players. This is how it would work:

  1. Queue for conquest
  2. Accept match
  3. Role picking screen appears. In this is screen there is each one of the roles as a sort of button.
  4. In order, pick the first, second, etc, until you reach your least favorite role (support /s)
  5. When everyone's done, the system will see conflicting preferred roles and choose randomly to which one give the role. System repeats until everyone has a role. You can see this step by step in the bottom.

Role picking screen example. Average I wanna do damage Joe has picked his roles.

So in a hypothetical game, let's say this was the order of 5 players:

  1. Mid > Jungle > Adc > Solo > Support (average I wanna do damage Joe)
  2. Jungle > Adc > Solo > Mid > Support
  3. Mid > Adc > Jungle > Solo > Support
  4. Support > Solo > Jungle > Mid > Adc
  5. Jungle > Support > Adc > Mid > Solo

Now what the system would do, step by step:

  1. Player 1 and 3 want mid, choose randomly, player 3 gets mid. Player 2 and 5 want jungle, choose randomly, player 2 gets jungle. Player 4 wants support, player 4 gets support.
  2. Player 1 wants jungle, already assigned. Player 5 wants support, already assigned.
  3. Player 1 and 5 want adc, choose randomly, player 1 gets adc.
  4. Player 5 wants mid, already assigned.
  5. Player 5 wants solo, player 5 gets solo.

And it's done. Now each player's role:

  1. Adc
  2. Jungle
  3. Mid
  4. Support
  5. Solo

Then the system simply prompts you what did you get. This is the basic principle. I think it would be cool :P

It would help those without the will or means (such as having bad connection) to compete with the macro bullshit that is the current role picking scenario.

One important side note is that the role picking screen doesn't necessarily needs to be after accepting a match (and consume even more time before the actual game), it could be done beforehand and it would work all the same.

Before I say my opinion, When masks were teased, I was quite exited for stat sacrificing. Seemed like an interesting idea.

But when they came, I was super disappointed.

Masks 1.0

What's the point of making tanks tankier?
What's the point of making damage dealers do more damage?

So Masks 2.0 fixed that. They are class locked.

And then Lono's mask + Healer became a thing, and it gets nerfed immediately.

So my question is... What is the point?

What, Why? If Ymir Rangda's become a thing, are we going to reduce the damage buff or increase damage taken?

If Lonos become a thing again, it will get nerfed. Tanky neith support is sad.

And there is useless Bumba's mask... This item is the biggest joke ever.
Item has power in it, and then, the same item has power reduction in it... Dog, that's just, something else.


These items will never be meta... Why you might ask?
All these issues are created because HiRez is pushing something unnatural, and when unnatural becomes a meta, it gets weird and usually badly perceived by community. All these weird ass items put, with weird ass stats, and weird ass restrictions.
I'll repeat myself.

If any mask becomes a meta, it will get nerfed immediately, because some stuff isn't meant to just BE. Noone asks or wants Sylvanus ADC, or Tanky Neith support who does pillow damage.


Solution!? First, let's not make Mask passives and stats too radical.

Let's make something that you really worth sacrificing, for a worthy effect

Few examples:
Allied healing increased by 20%, self healing decreased by 20%

Protection Reduction by 20 (both), allies gain 20 protections (both).

If you get under 30% health, sacrifice some movement speed, to get a lifesteal buff or a shield.

Is Morrigans Invisible Glitchy?

I feel its 50/50 I get hit every time I'm in it even when I'm just using it to move faster through the jungle and get hit with a random auto.

I'm not sure if I'm just incredibly unlucky or I just don't appear invisible sometimes. I am asking to see if anyone else has noticed this, or other Morrigan players have felt the same way?

The weirdest game I’ve ever played. the duo lane were doing a weird proxy only strategy.

So I just played the weirdest game I've played so far, I never was this confused and annoyed in a long time playing smite.

Everything was going just fine, I thought it would be a normal conquest game. But I was wrong.

At first it seemed ok, it was an Izanami adc and a Loki support I guess. They both started at our Phoenix proxing the wave, (they both had tier 2 bumbas for some reason) so I thought they were going to steal our jungle. But they didn't, they just stayed at our Phoenix proxing the wave every time it respawned, it was madness, we couldn't destroy the duo lane towers and were getting bored waiting for them to come and do something.

So we kindly asked the jungler to help us out by aggressively pinging him and the "Proxyers" saying "Attack!", "Help!"(I'm on PS4).

And then began the chase.

At the 4 minute mark we killed them but they came back with tier 3 bumbas and tier 1 boots, extremely fast and hard to catch. they continued to proxy, we still chased and every time we killed them or they backed to base they got more movement speed until it was impossible to chase without bursting them down quickly.

It was at the 20 min mark that they finally surrendered. I feel confused as to what just happened to me and why did they even do it. But it was so fun

To sum it up quickly, enemy duo lane Loki and izanami bought all movement speed items and proxyed for 20 minutes straight, the dumbest, most funnest chase I've ever had.

Coming back after 4 1/2 years

It's been a long time since I played smite. I picked it up with some friends in early high school but we moved onto league.

I always found the smite god's more interesting than league champs and the gameplay more fun.

It's been nearly five years since I left smite (near the end of its beta) and since then I've gone to uni and drifted away from highschool friends. Last night I remembered I bought the ultimate god back and decided to re-download the game to see what's been going on. I've been playing non stop for hours now and just wanted to say how much fun I've been having as compared to lol which has been stagnant to me for a few years now.

Here's to another five years of this amazing game.

TLDR: played during beta, stopped for 5 years. Came back last night and had a blast

Solo Queue On Conquest at low elo is unplayable

Legit can't play ranked at all at Gold it's genuinely a joke. Players don't play as a team people care more about their KD than actually winning the game the servers are polluted with toxic Russians that don't speak a lick of English.

I defy anyone that says they can solo carry as a support main.

Any advice on how to carry people who refuse to auto attack because "my damage is in my spells not my left clicks nub jajaja"
