Minecraft - because regular pyramids are boring

20,000 blocks ran, sailed, swam and ridden to this. Not a single room.

Okay, Mojang. No more excuses. The game NEEDS a Cave update!!! Soon!!!

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 11:43 AM PDT

Mojang, your first hint that people want this should be the spike in threads and videos from big YouTubers requesting this.

Yes, I am going to be making another one of these threads requesting a cave update, because I feel the more people in the community to make these threads, the more likely we are to be listened to and get our cave update.

Mojang, putting it simply, the caves need the same treatment the oceans got in the Update Aquatic.

I started playing Minecraft in August 2012. Six years ago. Six. 1.3 was the latest release at that point.

Do you want to know how many new cave types have been added in that time? Zero.

How about new ore types in the overworld? None.

Has ANY change been made to the underground? Well, they made each world have 128 strongholds instead of 3..... seriously that's about it.

I am far from the first to point this out - half the game's name is all about mining and caving. And for a concept that is literally half the name's game, it's been pretty stagnant since before I started playing six years ago!

Mining in Minecraft has been the same for years and years.

From reading the patch notes, 1.3 was the last time a new ore was added to the overworld, and it was Emerald that you can get anyway from trading, or treasure, and can only be found in one biome.

Now, I am not going to put any suggestions for a cave update in here, this is not the place.

But seriously Mojang, the game has been evolving but this core aspect of the game has not been touched in the better part of a decade. The Update Aquatic was great, but other areas of the game need that kind of love too. The caves really stand out like a sore thumb though in how underevolved it is compared to the rest of the game nowadays. And free from the shackles of the 256 block limit, there really is no excuse not to do a mining and caving update. Loads of people are asking for it. And I repeat: Mining has not changed in almost a DECADE.

Mojang, please do something beautiful with the caves. Like how you transformed the most dead, boring place in the Overworld that was merely an obstacle into almost a new dimension of its own!

If there's one thing Mojang have drastically improved on in later years, it's listening to fans and directly discussing with them what they want.

Let's make some noise, people!

The Drowned....... something just doesn't sit right with me.

I don't know what or why, but something about the Drowned mob just does not sit right with me.

I think it's far too common maybe? Or that it's just a reskinned zombie? I wasn't expecting them to add a common underwater hostile mob? And if they did I didn't think it would be another zombie??

Idk, something about this mob just rubs me up the wrong way. The fact you can be swimming in the ocean and then get nailed with a trident...

And then there's the fact that this mob is the only source of a trident? I consider tridents to be one of the main features of 1.13, and it's an extremely EXTREMELY powerful weapon that you can in theory get before you punch your first tree??? Like I think I imagined the trident being something you'd get from buried treasure or some underwater quest.... not from farming a common mob.

I dunno, it just seems like between it being another retextured zombie and the fact it's powerful, accessible from the start, and gives you the most powerful weapon in the game and is so damn common.... something or a combination of all these just rubs me up the wrong way with the Drowned mob.
