Learn Dota 2 - A true sight/observer rune: Too OP?

A true sight/observer rune: Too OP?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 03:45 AM PDT

I can't be the only one who has been pondering about this.

An observer rune would give increased field of vision of the bearer of the rune, while a true sight rune would grant the bearer the abilities of a gem of true sight for a stipulated time.

Edit: I would think it would be quite broken, but there should be some way to work this into the game. Anyone could possibly give some insight into this possibility?

Item spotlight series - what would you like to see?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 11:34 AM PDT

I'm thinking of making a series to introduce newer players to the various items in the game and the heroes they're good on. I'm planning to include the following details:

  1. Item mechanics
  2. Active ability analysis
  3. Patch history of the item (for older players to catch up and newer players to understand the historical context of the item)
  4. Ideal purchase timing of the item
  5. Ideal heroes for the item
  6. Caveats and Counters
  7. Unique combination and interaction with other items

Is there something else that would be useful for newer players? If you're an old player, what would you want to see in this series?

I need someone to sell me on drums.

I see pros build it, and I guess I understand a little bit why it's a decent item, but why is it better than say, a fast yasha/maskofmadness on a hero like gyro?

Yes I just watched envy build it vs liquid.

Tiny

Tiny being a dead hero with low win rate and being nerfed , why everyone is picking him in every game in ti8

Tiny - what's the deal?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 04:44 PM PDT

So I'm really curious about this hero. He has an absolutely terrible win rate, yet he seems to be picked all the time in pro games? I understand that for Io and Chen, but why is that the case for tiny?

What are games that tiny thrives in, and which match ups are weighed heavily against him?

Can you give me some general tips on how to play him properly?

Thoughts on lich

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 05:29 AM PDT

A lot of my friends get upset playing against lich. They think because he has great lane control and a pretty alright spammy nuke he's then going to proceed to win the game outright.

I however think he's one of the weakest heroes atm ever since his mini stun removal he has felt useless. Crystal maiden has equally as spammy spells but actually has a stun and her ultimate isn't completely random. What purpose does lich serve anymore ? He used to be pretty decent vs juggernaut and lifestealer when they did their spell immune tps. Now the only hero who can stop that is bane and his range is nowhere near as good as lichs ult.

Granted if you get lvl 25 ice armour talent he's completely broken and I'd be shocked if you could ever lose a game at that point.

I would like to know what you guys think of him.

Building Lion effectively.

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 07:20 AM PDT

I've arrived at a predicament when experimenting with my lion build early game items. Many top guides highly recommend an aether lens which i agree with. But, i usually build an aether lens from the energy booster I scrap from an arcane boots for the sake of gold efficiency on:

  • rubick
  • pugna
  • support lina
  • support skywrath
  • vengeful sprit

Then I'd upgrade the boots to tranquil or travel boots.

On a hero like lion, who has built in mana sustenance with mana drain, arcane boots becomes inefficient by the mid-game after you max earth spike and start adding points to it. This means tranquil boots is the best choice for boots. But it still has value when your lane mate needs mana and two forms of mana sustenance allows you to cast active items like pipe and mekansm etc. more freely.

Next point, a blink dagger or force staff is more important for landing spells than aether lens, so do I skip arcane's and go tranq's>blink/force and build an aether lens from scratch? If enemy has a lot of healing and I build urn to later get sprit vessel, won't the healing +1 mana regen amplified by his int stat make both arcanes and tranqs unnecessary making phase boots worth considering.

Is radiance on Spectre no longer core? Or is there another reason Ramzes didn't buy it.

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 12:22 PM PDT

Also as a side note, how do you beat Spectre in the late game? I feel like all of my ranked games are about which teams get the Spectre.

Looking for a Nature's Prorhet guide.

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 09:34 AM PDT

Hello there.

I am curious about how this hero works and how to play it correctly in solo queue. If there is any Furion players by chance I would be grateful if you would provide any advices or maybe some of the replays. It seems hard to find any up to date guides on this hero.

SGLeroy's Regular AMA, NA immortal pos 3 player, ask me any questions on how to improve your mmr and I will give you answers.

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 08:40 AM PDT

Hi everyone, im a NA pub star and im trying to promote myself as a coach, my AMA's so far have went really well and I get some great feedback so I try to do regular AMA's on r/learndota2 to continue to help you guys while also putting myself out there as a coach.

If you want to know my current mmr or hero experience check my dotabuff here: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/44544729, keep in mind that my dotabuff wont show competitive games/scrims on it, but as an example ive played like 500 dark seer games off my profile but it only shows my pub experience.

My specialty is position 3 but I have a large amount of knowledge in all areas of dota, I've participated in many tier 2 events and leagues, including FPL pro circuit and JDL, top placements in open quals for major tournaments, regionals, etc.

(Here is a comment from a student I coached who contacted me through here) I have been coaching some students for a bit now and improving alot at it, so I appreciate everyone who's contacted me through these threads for coaching and for the feedback they've given me about my coaching. So far I have gotten positive feedback and my students have told me that ive given them alot of value and its helped them improve in their solo que games and they've noticed a increase in their winrates. I can't tell you all enough how much this has actually helped me in my personal life, giving people value and having them respond to me afterwards telling me that their doing so much better gives me a ton of joy and so far this whole AMA thing has really helped me in alot of ways I couldn't have imagined before I started doing all of it.

If you want me to join you in-game to analyze your gameplay and give you personal coaching lessons, the best way to contact me privately is through Discord/Steam and just shoot me a msg if you are looking to be coached, there I can give you the details of my coaching structure and we can negotiate a price that works for you.

Trying to get back playing Dota2, what should I start learning or where from

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 04:53 AM PDT

I've played 500h of Dota2 like 4, 5 years ago, then I switched to League due to my highschool classmates. Anyhow, after thousands of hours in League, I finally come to the conclussion that it is not fun to play anymore. Like literally the game is ruined imo.

Is there any video, posts, tips, advice from where I should get back on my feet in Dota? I'm looking to improve a little in order to understand the game again

Asking for advice how to take next step

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 01:38 AM PDT

Hi guys, to keep it short, I've calibrated on 1.8k beginning of the year, and with your tips and help, I'm currently on 2.8k mmr.

In the last few weeks I feel like I hit a brick wall, having losing strikes then climbing back to 2.8k again. I know this must be my skill level, however I would like to improve and climb higher.

Is there any advice you can give please? I feel a bit demotivated to be honest.
