[Suggestion] Make each Auto-Attack in the chain a different color Posted: 31 Jul 2018 01:17 PM PDT It would be great if the auto-attack chain had another sort of visual indicator outside of reading the character animations (let's be honest, sometimes it's too hectic to always be mindful of reading animations). A suggestion I have would be to color the activation bar of each swing in the chain to allow you to quickly determine where you are in your chain. Example: https://i.imgur.com/3IQGRuq.png A lot of rotations seem to require managing your auto-attack chain fillers correctly. The common feedback I see when people asking for rotational help is to handle auto-attack chains correctly. Thoughts? [link] [comments]

The Very Detailed Guide to Rifts. Posted: 31 Jul 2018 12:15 PM PDT Rifts. The biggest unsolved mystery of GW2. Introduced on October 4th 2016 and not progressed past their second stage out of a total leaked of five. I urge everyone to come together as a community, one of the best ones ive seen, and finally solve it. I am adamant sure that the third part is already in the game. Whats their point? Nobody knows the final plan. So far they allow you to tear open the reality, shape it to your liking and step through the open gash to another point in the universe. They let you teleport is what i meant to say. For free and with no cooldown.* *Some users may experience death or be turned into an anomaly and die at the hands of their comrades. Some cooldowns apply. This is a detailed tutorial on how to get started with your own Class I Rift Stabilizer and progress to its final known iteration - Class II Rift Stabilizer. Lets get started. . First things first. If you are a F2P you need to be at least level 30 to be able to access Fields of Ruin, the area most affected by the events of Bloodstone Fen.
If you are interested in all rift-related clues i managed to gather, or have something you want to add to progression of the storyline, head over to my megathread. . Useful materials:

Elder Scrolls Online's business model sucks compared to Guild Wars 2 Posted: 31 Jul 2018 11:33 AM PDT Posted this on their forums a week or two ago but it was locked because their forum users couldn't contain themselves. So I recently went back to revisit Guild Wars 2 first time since the base game launched and I was blown away by how much ArenaNet delivers and how consumer friendly they are in general. Just to be clear there are other criticisms and comparisons against Elder Scrolls Online when compared to Guild Wars 2, particularly performance and weight of combat but this thread is strictly about the business model. First and foremost, living story. Path of Fire released September of last year. Every three months, they introduce a living story update which I think the name is a bit misleading because they're basically DLC-sized quarterly updates and as long as you log in, you get it for free. These updates contain new maps, new cinematic quest lines and even new mechanics. Most recently, the roller beetle (part of a series of the best feeling mounts I've ever seen in an MMO). This means as long as you bought Path of Fire for $30, you get ALL the content until the next expansion comes out 2-3 years later and it also means the expansions are fleshed out more and more. This is something I wish we got out of chapters like Morrowind and Summerset which feel like they're abandoned outside of bug fixes since they're already onto the next thing to sell to us. Here's the trailer for Guild Wars 2's latest update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTPesFa1xm8 Buy2Play Elder Scrolls Online's base game is behind a paywall. Guild Wars 2's is not and this gets really interesting because as long as you're playing within the three months that the latest living story episode (DLC) released in, you get access to it when you eventually do buy Path of Fire. It's one hell of a free trial and it's a pretty generous system considering if a free player that logs in every 3 months eventually does buy the expansion, they have access to those Living Story episodes, new zones, rewards and all. Crafting bag This is the most frustrating to me because I'm a player that has spent hundreds of dollars on the chapters and the DLCs outright and as I buy them, I devalue the ESO+ membership yet I'm expecting to pay the same as everyone else. It's definitely the way it's meant to be played as a crafter and if you don't buy into the membership, the game is incredibly inconvenient to play. Guild Wars 2? Material depositing is a feature straight out of the base game. I have very little reason to pay for ESO+ outside of the crafting bag so I got the chests for my house (11000 crowns) so I could have enough storage to keep one of every material in my crafting bag and have room for storing whatever loot and equipment I don't keep on me. Shouldn't have to do that. More on that later. Costume dying? Free for everyone. Loot boxes I'm not a fan of loot boxes at all but Guild Wars 2 does loot boxes significantly better. Want a specific skin? You can pay more gems to buy the specific one you want in many cases and even if you don't specifically choose, you can't get duplicates in the loot boxes. Elder Scrolls Online? Want a specific skin? Hope the RNG is in your favor or you get enough duplicates which can be transmuted into crown gems which you can use to buy what you want (some of the 400 gem mounts could end up costing you $150-$200 if you're unlucky) ESO+ is actively devalued as a player that buys the chapters and DLCs outright. If you're the kind of player I am that has spent hundreds of dollars on content, there's very little reason to pay for ESO+ besides the crafting bag which is ridiculous. Guild Wars 2 has no paid membership and they manage to be as successful as they are without paid quarterly expansions and manage to survive years between expansion packs as their only revenue stream for active players that log in once every 3 months? They're doing something right. So just to break it down, Guild Wars 2 is releasing an expansion once every two-three years, the content released in the meantime is free and substantial. Updates flesh out existing areas and mechanics, the base game is entirely free and the living story entitlement system accounts for your time playing only the base game in a generous way, the crafting and material gathering experience is optimal by default, outfits and gear is dyeable for everyone, there is no "optional" membership (putting that in quotes because this game is constantly a struggle to play without ESO+ if you're picking materials up, also the ESO+ membership giving double transmutation crystals is BS and arguably pay2win). Meanwhile in Elder Scrolls Online I feel like I'm in that scene in Goodfellas but it's Zenimax Online Studios saying **** you, pay me. As I said, there are other valid criticisms but the business model is particularly egregious. It's not even remotely competitive to their primary competitor and it deserves to be called out. Among friends I've referred to the game over the years, every single one of them has quit. If it wasn't performance or a lack of weight behind combat making them leave, it was the business model. Aspect -Blessed Gloves Skins Should Unlock the same Aspect for all Armor Weights Posted: 31 Jul 2018 08:58 AM PDT This is something that has been frustrating me about the zephyrite glove skins from the festival. When you unlock any of the Aspect-Blessed Gloves, it does not unlock the same skin for all armor weights. For example, if I unlock the Wind-Blessed) gloves for heavy armor, it does not unlock the wind-blessed gloves for light and medium too. This is odd, because many other identically-looking armor skins unlock the other armor tier. Off the top of my head, all of the LS3 armor, not to mention all the Gemstore skins that do the same. I can understand if Anet wants us to grind all the armor weights for the gloves, thus increasing our workload by 3. But what I don't understand is them doing something odd like this and not telling us this is the case or explaining why. I would very much like them to say if this the way things will be or that this will be changed and this was merely an oversight or a bug. I am aware that you can create the -blessed gloves in the Forge, but that doesn't help much since it's gated behind charged quartz and takes 9 gloves instead of just 3 total. (That's 45 days just for 3 skins!) [link] [comments]

CALLING ALL GW2 GAMERS - WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Posted: 31 Jul 2018 08:15 AM PDT I'm Cormac, a producer from Radio Wolfgang (https://www.radiowolfgang.com/), a multi-award winning podcast platform based in London. We're currently creating a podcast to demystify for a general audience how MMO gaming allows individuals to lead two quite distinct lives - one in the virtual world and the other IRL. We'd love to hear from gamers (ideally based in the UK) who would be up for having a chat. If this sounds interesting - drop me a PM or email me at cm@radiowolfgang.com. Thanks so much - looking forward to hearing from you! Cormac [link] [comments]
Guild Wars 2 Free to Play review in polish magazine Posted: 31 Jul 2018 02:25 AM PDT In recent issue of polish gaming magazine Cd-Action there is review of some of the f2p games. Guild Wars 2 among them. I translated this short review to english, so all of you could read it. Any mistakes in text are due to my poor lenguage skills, original text is perfectly written. Guild Wars 2 Score: 7+ * Alright, GW2 isn't 100% free to play product. Without paying you can't enjoy content of two expansions - set in dense jungle Heart of Thorns and "deserty" Path of Fire. It would be a sin though, to not mention this excellent online rpg, because here not owning any expansion doesn't stop you from hitting max level. Base game overwhelms with size and beautiful vistas, and f2p players have a lot of freedom. They have, for example: unlimited access to dungeons and pvp, including wvw, where on gigantic maps hundrends of players represent their servers in fight for castles. Dynamic combat is one of the best features of game. Every class plays differently, all attack and spells can be used while moving and animations are very smooth. Besides traditional role diversity in parties have been minimalized: everyone need to dodge on their own and healers are only necessery in end-game content. Fans of exploration will find here something for themselves too - after six years projects of locations still impress, to this day, just for relaxation, I explore footholds of Shiverpeak Mountains. Quite engaging "personalizied" plot and distinctive quests also encourage to explore. In GW2 there are a lot of open for everyone missions that flow into long cycles, eg. succesful invasion of undead triggers event to recapture the village. Thanks to level scaling and ability to cooperate without creating parties old maps are still populated, but most of the players decide to buy expansion anyways. If not for elite specializations , raids and continuation of the story about fight with giant dragons, they do that to unlock new ways to travel. I affirm: you won't find MMO, in which mounts would be so well animated and unique. Recently, let's mention, joined them drifting motorcycle-like beetles . *Add +1 points to the score for every expansion you own Author of the article: Monk Source: CD-Action 09/2018 (285), page 46 [link] [comments]
