[POLL] What are your realistic expectations for Ultimate?

Discovered a Nintendo office close to where I live and asked if they had any kind of tour or something. Lady told me they hadn’t but she handed me a bag full of cool souvenirs. This coin is definitely the best of all!

The Project Plan might make 3rd Party echoes unlikely...

Posted: 31 Jul 2018 12:44 PM PDT

I was reading on Smashboards and i came up upon an interesting read that made me think

Sakurai has always thought of the Clones/Echoes as "free dessert to the main course" and this is reflected in how the Clone Characters are typically developed last to add in more characters near the last stretches of developments.

Ex: Melee with the clones characters, and Smash 4 were the Clones were planned to be costumes before turning out as their own character.

It seems that the clone characters aren't planned from the beginning, and i don't think the new Echo fighters are any different.

so what does this have to do with 3rd Party Echoes

Well consider that most, if not all of the game is planned from the very beginning, which includes the roster. The roster includes 3rd party characters, and with 3rd parties includes having to negotiate and Pay licencing for the characters.

The important thing about the project plan is that it gives the developers a unified vision of how the game is to be created, before developments starts. it would be unwise to try to negotiate 3rd Party characters WHILE Development is going on cause it can mess up the unified vision of the game, which can set back development all together.

So with this in mind, if we are getting such characters like a Old Man Martial Artist, Living Doll, and a Edgy Hedgehog, they will be planned from the beginning, meaning they are priority characters, or the main course, instead of free dessert like the Echoes. this mean that i feel no 3rd Party characters are echo fighters.

I have an idea on a way to bring target smash back into Ultimate

Posted: 31 Jul 2018 02:51 PM PDT

Think mario maker but for smash, people would be able to make obstacle courses for players to try and beat. Of course the creator himself would have to smash all the targets he placed and beat the course before posting and when the course has been completed when people see the course they will see the character the course was completed with underneath picture. People would be able to try there luck with unverified characters as well to verify them for the course and the option to try with other characters can be disabled by the creator if another character is overall better at everything that would make the stage difficult.

Players would be able to see the entire stage before clicking select in order to plan there routes and know where all targets are. Enemies would also be able to be placed down, all attacks from enemies would not hit targets and they would function similar to how they functioned in subspace emissary. The lava hazard from Great cave offensive would return and would function as it does in the stage itself, killing at 100% or more. During stage creation you would be able to place items on the stage that are unable to despawn until picked up to be able to make more interesting target smashes.

how do you guys think of this idea? am i an idiot or do you think this could actually be something with potential?
