Next step on the P2W road - PA/Kakao no longer needs to worry about lack of Memory Fragments on market.

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 03:37 AM PDT

Artisan Memory is easily the main p2w windmill in our version. However you still need memory fragments to use it, so PA needs to carefully starve us for them. If they add too much memes the artisan sales will drop, if they add too little they will drop too as people won't be able to use up their artisans. Giving some sort of chance to the non p2w players.

However this is no longer the case as they now have bundled 20 memory fragments with 100 artisans.

Why not not full 100? As usual they take smalls steps to dull our vigilance. IT worked in the past it will work again.

Sea Hunting Statistics

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 03:52 AM PDT

Before I say anything, I am expecting either backlash or downwards karma, but I don't really care. I'm using maths and statistics based on the actual drop rate. If someone can prove me wrong then I will be glad to hear it.

I have posted this on another thread but just wanted to prove it across reddit, and see if anyone can STATISTICALLY prove me wrong.

Ok here goes, people seem to think that sea hunting makes you 250m an hour, which is incredibly accurate.

I'm probably an average player in my guild and i can do 10 sea mon without repair maybe 3/4 times, and this includes a few goldmonts and nineshark which are notorious to deal mroe damage. fight times 2-3 min for me but i'm average within my guild and know many who does 1-2minutes.

theres many videos on youtube showing this sort of speed. sea monster is busted AF, its like saying money on trees is not op because short children can't pick them or pick them fast. its easy to achieve this sort of speed, and even without controller i can do similar speeds (slightly harder). travel time between sea monsters can be as low as 1-2 minutes and with breezy sail and some gear it takes ~10 minutes to get to farming spots from ratt. 5 minute per monster, 50 minutes = 10 monsters + 10 minute travel time, u can figure ur way back home via map or some other way :) theres also ways to carry more weight/bypass/delay need to go back to ratt as well

https://bddatabase.net/us/npc/21407/

125 neidans = 12.5m (avg for candi)

2x shells = 900k (don't remember exact)

100m * 0.08 = 8m average per candi

21.4m per candi. 10x candi in an hr is achievable and 7-8 is very common

so, 150mil VERY EASY if u're not bad. 200m? ACHIEVABLE. u can even get up to 250m/hr average by doing 1-2 min and reducing trips back to ratt or even up to 300m/hr average on arsha (11/12 candi/hr with each candi giving average of 25.4m)

TOTALLY NOT BUSTED OR BROKEN. and im totally doing SMH because of how fun and itneractive it is not because of how much it pays. first few sentences were taken from another post of same title claiming u get trash money LOL

*Edit i mean, most people who has been taught/tried to do SMH has been able to learn to do 4 min or faster with majority form people i know being 2-3 min with a few top tier being able to do 1-2 consistently. i mean technically the average candi time for the entirety of bdo's population may b higher but really? do u guys remember low the average skill level is of new games? this is exactly that and its not even a difficult game to pick up. are you a bronzie? :) sea monster too mechanically challenging and most people won't be able to pick it up\do it decently rite?

*Edit 2, payout ratios - if u farm the same amount as a guild for ~3-4 weeks then u can get almost to maximum sustainable ratio

maximum sustainable ratio for a guild paying 15% tax is 0.4/0.49 = 0.816 and with 20% tax its 0.4/0.52 = 0.769

the 0.4 is 40% payout, and the .49 and .52 comes from 1-(0.6*0.8) <---20% tax, and 1-(0.6*0.85)<--15% tax, or the amount (%) of mnoey u'd need to farm next week, to get back to the same fund. another point. this is also ONLY accounting for money farmed, payout and taxes ignoring salvation army, GMs and nws. another point if u're getting super low ratios consistently, u're getting scammed or u have alot of non sea monster hunters and u're paying their t1 OR ur gm is scumbagging u theoretical payout with 30 man guild consistently farming 2b/week sorry for formatting

*edit 3, that theoretical payout was done incorrectly, i did 0.85 for only the first payout tax, but did 0.8 for the others, should've been 0.85 for first 3, doesn't change much except it grows slightly faster

Nerf node war pay? Rename to Sea Monster Hunter Online!

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 10:38 PM PDT

So previously a Tier 1 Node would pay 600-800mil silver per week. Recently they decided to nerf the pay of tier 1 nodes to 400 mil per week. Meanwhile profit from Sea Monster Hunting continues to overflow guild coffers.

We all know this is what most active guilds are coming to. If you aren't promoting Sea Monster Hunting using glitchy mechanics then your guild is probably going to be falling behind. Kakao needs to either nerf Sea Monster Hunting out of the park, fix the glitchy cancels we're using to solo them OR raise the pay from nodes so that node wars is the pay from node wars is equitable to Sea Monster Hunting.

Leaving it as it is, they are misrepresenting the product. Rename the game from Black Desert Online to Sea Monster Hunter Online. - It will accurately reflect the current gameplay and you might even pick up a few lost Monster Hunter World players.

~EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION~

I am editing this post here rather than trying to address every comment where someone assumes I do not know anything about Sea Monster Hunting or that my post is directed at Sea Monster Hunting as a guild activity. My guild, Relic, is one of the oldest guilds in the game. We were one of the first guilds to get a galley and have been hunting regularly since it was released. Sea Monster Hunting as a guild activity isn't a problem.

Normally we send out two Guild Ships and two or three Epherias. With eight to ten guild members over the period of two to three hours we earn 400-600mil. This is without the glitching / ram-cancel method people are currently abusing. If we were using that method I am sure the amount earned would be much higher – double or triple the amount earned through legitimate gameplay.

Now in Node Wars, the same amount of time, forty to fifty of our players battle it out for a Tier 1 node. Previously we earned 600-800 mil. This seemed balanced. A bit more for node wars than Sea Monster Hunting. Now that Node Wars is nerfed, it is no longer balanced. 400Mil earned over a two to three hour guild event does not compare to the 500mil earned (or 1.5bil if glitching?) by Sea Monster Hunting. This needs to be addressed. This is my complaint. Two hours of Node Wars should not earn less income than two hours of Sea Monster Hunting.

Sea Hunting Statistics

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 02:55 AM PDT

THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EXTREMELY LONG POST SO IF YOU DONT WANT TO SEE CALCULATIONS THERE IS A TLDR AT THE BOTTOM.

Before I say anything, I am expecting either backlash or downwards karma, but I don't really care. I'm using maths and statistics based on the actual drop rate. If someone can prove me wrong then I will be glad to hear it. I have used both examples of sea monsters.

I have posted this on another thread but just wanted to prove it across reddit, and see if anyone can STATISTICALLY prove me wrong.

Ok here goes, people seem to think that sea hunting makes you 250m an hour, which is incredibly inaccurate.

We will break this down into 2 statistics - We will use new/average sea hunters and immaculate/perfect sea hunters.

New/Average players will hunt 1 of 2 ways. They will either try really hard to kill Nineshark/Candi/Rusts and kill possibly 2 every repair, or they will do the easier route and kill betweek 7-9 hekaru/ocean stalkers every repair.

Each Hekaru/ocean stalker takes about 3/4 minutes or so to kill dependant on gear. We will include 1/2 minutes in travel time between monsters so average it at 5 minutes per kill. 5 minutes x 8 kills = 40 minutes. Great. Then you need to repair your gear and get back out to the ocean. Trips can take anywhere from 10-15mins one way, dependant on where you are when needing to repair, and where you are repairing at. Lets use Pirates/Lema Island as the example. From Ross Sea to Lema Island WITHOUT SKILLED 1 instant accel takes about 20mins or there and back to the ocean.

Okay now that we have established you can kill about 8 an hour with repairs, lets break down how much average each one makes.

Every Hekaru/Ocean Stalker drops 13-50 sea monster nedian which are 100k each. We will ignore Spikes for now as these are generally kept to make blue gear if not already gotten. 13+50 = 63 divided by 2 = 31.5 average drops per kill. 31.5 = 3,150,000 silver. This x 8 kills = 25,200,000 silver or 25.2million.

Every Hekaru/Ocean Stalker (including kama buff/ecology/arsha buff) has a drop rate of roughly 2.5% of there 100M drop. If we use this as basic it would take 40 kills per 100M drop. If we are killing 8 per hour that would mean it takes 5 hours to get 1 drop. So if we divide the 100M by 5(to equate to number received per hour of 0.2) that = 20M an hour.

Nedian drops = 25.2million

Rare drops = 20million

Total = 45.2million an hour

If we use the basis that you are receiving 56% of this value in guild payouts (stats taken from here https://community.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?threads/leaked-sea-monster-hunting-paycharts.233066/ )

As you can see the people who have brought in 2.5B are only getting paid 1.4B which totals 56% (shown above)

45.2 million x 56% = 25.312million

And as you can see this doesn't seem like a lot. I will add a MIN/MAX here to show the range (dependant on guild payouts) - MIN would be probably 40% which would be 18.08million

- MAX would be 100% or 45.2million (lets presume your guild pays this in full...)

MIN/MAX range - 18.08 - 45.2million an hour.

Now for Immaculate/Perfect sea hunters.

To be in this category you would need to know the animation cancels for hunting Nineshark/Candi/Rusts, which is Quick Ram - Flip method to avoid damage. (If no one knows this method here is a youtube tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFgc0GngisY )

You will roughly take just below 1/5 damage of your boat if you are pretty good at this. So you can most likely kill 5 big sea monsters before repair. Lets also presume you are fighting from Port Ratt for minimal repair time.

Each kill of big sea monsters takes roughly 6-7 minutes depending on hits and probably takes 1-2 minutes between monsters, so lets average this out at 8 minutes. If you are killing 5 before repair that's 40minutes. Repair from Port Ratt WITH skilled 1 sailing is probably about 10minutes give or take a few minutes. We will total this to 50 minutes. Now here is another thing, To be totally efficient with this, your sailing alt character and boat need to stay in port ratt to cut down on travel time. So lets presume this is the case to increase profitability per hour.

Big sea monsters have Nadium drop rates between 100 - 150 per kill which averages at 125 or 12.5million.

5 kills of these monsters per 50 minutes = 62.5 million

Big sea monsters have drop rate of about 10%(including kama buff/ecology/arsha buff) of their 100M rare drop.

Now if you are killing 5 per 50 minutes that's 1 hour 40 minutes per 100M drop or (to keep in line with 50mins per sail) 50M every 50mins

Nadium drops total 62.5 million

Rare drops total 50 million

Total every 50mins = 112.5 million

Now we need to make this every hour, so to make this easy we will divide 112.5 million by 50 to get per minute rate then x this by 60 minutes to get every hour.

112.5 divided by 50 = 2.25million

2.25 million x 60 = 135million per hour

Now we will use the same percentage as above for Heks/Stalkers which is 56%

135million x 56% = 75.60 million

Now for another MIN MAX

MIN @ 40% = 56 million

MAX = 135 million (as done with heks we will presume that your guild gives you all this value)

So as you can see STATISTICS shows that you cannot consistently make 250M an hour, to get this you would either have to have insane drop rates or be killing 10 big sea monsters an hour and get 100% of the funds from your guild. Both of which are not accurate on a hourly basis as you can get 5 drops an hour to 0 (highly RNG) but stats show this is your average.

Now we will use the example of the reddit post showing a 2.6B payout to a member of a top end sea hunting guild that got paid weekly.

He stated himself that he sailed 8 hours a day for this payout which totals 56 hours in that week. 2.6B divided by 56 hours = 46.428 million an hour

TLDR - Killing Heks (average player) you are expecting about 45.2 million an hour in drops and then a % of this in guild payout

- Killing Nineshark/Candi/Rusts (Advanced player) you are expecting about 135 million an hour in drops and then a % of this n guild payout

Minimum average possible for sea hunting per hour is 18 million . Maximum is 135 million. (Max is on the basis that you receive all of the funds given to guild)

Anyone wanting to query this , do the stats yourself then prove me incorrect. As I stated at the top, I am expecting downvotes simply because I'm not ranting about it been OP.

EDIT: Considering everyone in the comments is stating that you can kill mobs faster. I COMPLETELY AGREE, but I am not basing stats on PERFECT conditions. I am basing it on averages to be expected. To sea hunt takes INVESTMENT to learn rotations/method/spawn locations. Sometimes your spot might be taken while drastically reduces your grinding time. I stated in the post it is an average. If someone said that pirates was 15-20m an hour when I was highly populated you would have been kidding yourself expecting this value, considering half of your time wasn't actually grinding. It was either pvp fighting for spot, or switching channels to find an uncontested one. Also to get to pirates you had to travel there, which on a Epheria takes like 10mins to trade into Lema island then Velia (without sailing 1) This time is still reducing your money per hour because there is an investment there to get your pay off. My kill time includes down time. If I wanted to maximise on perfect conditions and you are a MASTER of the method, things would be very different.

How can people not think this game is p2w?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 06:05 AM PDT

It actually blows my mind, I really don't care that this game is p2w because im very casual, I don't care that you can buy mem frags, pets, value packs, costumes, artisans mems. The thing that makes me so confused is how people thinks that the game is not p2w because you can get those items without paying. It does not matter if you can get them in other means. The fact that you can use real money to get an advantage and gain silver faster/progress faster, is p2w.

Im not taking a blow at BDO or Kakao, they can do whatever they want to get money. The thing that bothers me are the people defending them. I genuinely don't understand people that don't think BDO is p2w.

PSA for NW tonight: sprinting in non-combat still consumes stam... unless you spam jump

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 08:06 AM PDT

Some beginner questions...

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 07:50 AM PDT

  1. Is connecting the nodes to the spot where I'm grinding worth it?

  2. As a mostly casual/for-fun player how do I know what I want to process or where to fish or where to assign workers? I don't need to learn how to min-max or anything crazy, I just am wondering how a player knows "what they need" without looking at guides constantly(I'm not a big fan of guides, I like to learn about the game as I go as much as possible)? Gear is fine because I can kind of look at the market and see what upgrades there are, but as far as what I should be producing/processing/etc besides making beer for workers, I'm a bit at a loss...

  3. What exactly is Awakening, isn't it just a "new weapon", and all the "choose a class" guides I see show that once you're awakened you pretty much only use that new weapon, is that true or are you mixing between your old and new?

  4. There's a shit load of on screen pop up notifications and chat channels, what are the most important ones so I can disable the rest...never seen a game spam the player so much lol.

  5. How do you keep track of what you have in storage at each town? as I've sort of spread out and keep moving my things with me and leaving some things behind along with workers producing things, I'm getting a bit annoyed that I can't check these remotely... seems like important information.

  6. Other than strength in PvP, is there a large benefit to leveling past 56 or can you focus on other things while grinding when you can? Seems like the benefit is marginal and the cost of time is huge when there is so much you could be doing in game besides grinding?

  7. When should one go to Mediah and what are the benefits of doing so?
