Idea for a prisoner social experiment Posted: 17 Jul 2018 12:24 PM PDT Ok so, get this. There's like, eight prisoner rooms, each with a bed, table, and chair, and there's two doors- one goes outside (where the wardens come from) and the other goes into this huge arena. I fill up the eight beds, right? There's eight prisoners. None of them have any weapons. Once the eighth person heals up, suddenly, there's no food. Why is no one coming to give us food? The doors into the arena open. The prisoners explore the arena for food. There's no food. Slowly, their mood gets worse and worse. One of them snaps. He attacks another prisoner. This continues until one prisoner remains, who joins the colony. (basically eight prisoners duel and whoever wins becomes a colonist. im gonna make this if it seems popular enough and then ill post pics) [link] [comments]

I had to download a 120GB backup of a client's database today, and caught myself pressing the "3" key to try and speed up the download... Oh, I wish it were that easy. [link] [comments] |

New pawn has wandered in. You can try to tame it. Posted: 17 Jul 2018 10:26 PM PDT Got what I think is a new event. Had a pawn wander in and had a option to try to tame it, but due to low handling skill and him being a pyromaniac I just let him be. So he just walks around eating berries in the nude and enjoying the good weather. Even caught him stealing my food when I installed a cooler. God, I love this game. [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Jul 2018 06:55 PM PDT Let me tell you the tale of how I cockily bumped up the difficulty and immediately got wrecked because of it. So, I'm on my second year with 7 colonists. The food supply was looking bleak but otherwise we were good. I started out with Cassandra Medium. By this time, I was bored due to the lack of excitement and major threats. Like a dumbass, I cranked the difficulty up to Extreme. "What could go wrong?" I said. Immediately as I close the menu, I get hit by a Drop Pod Raid in the middle of my barracks. Half of my colonists were sick and/or asleep. 6 raiders dropped in with Power Armor and rifles. I hastily got my whole colony in there to fight back. We didn't stand a chance. The colony got wiped out in a few IRL minutes. I turned off the game and wandered sadly. [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Jul 2018 10:01 PM PDT A hive spawned in my mining complex. But faaaar in. I'm like... whatever. They started multiplying so I'm like "whatever". Because the hives were so far in. Tynan must have done something with their aggro range because I can't recall them being this aggressive. A colonist was attacked OUTSIDE the huge and deep mining caves. I didn't realize they would ALL AGGRO and come out and fight and chase this long. It wasn't "whatever" anymore. They came for me, in the night. I tried pulling butch out, but they were soo fast... Solid base, solid research and stockpiles, everyone with assault rifles and armored vests. Gun turrets. Didn't help. Starting a new game, whatever... Cry [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jul 2018 09:36 PM PDT My colony was about to begin a marriage ceremony. Some people have already gathered in the main room. Then suddenly I received a notification that the marriage was called off. The couple is still engaged and in love. No one is sick or in a mental breakdown. Literally nothing is happening at the moment except for a moderate heatwave. Why was the marriage called off? [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jul 2018 12:09 AM PDT So after playing a couple hundred hours of Rimworld, I always notice that, after a while, my growing patches will be completely uneven with growth times across each plant. For instance: In the beginning of the game, sowed plants are usually ALL 0% growth right when they're planted. Because of this, they all grow at the exact same time and become auto-harvested at the same time. At this point, a pawn will go to harvest everything. The problem arises when the pawn harvests/sows half the plants and then gets distracted by something else (like sleeping). This leads to the plants on one side of the field to be a little more ahead/behind than the others. It doesn't seem like a big issue at first, but after a year or two in a world, it becomes pretty frustrating (or for me at least). You eventually end up with patches of plants that have completely different growing progresses everywhere. This leads to inconsistent harvesting and food flow. Example of a growing plot that suffers from this problem: https://imgur.com/a/OPMUAw1 I propose that we add a feature to growing areas where the player can designate an amount of plants that need to be 100% grown before auto-harvesting can happen. This would eliminate that inconsistency that builds up over time. It would be much similar to durability sliders on apparel for stockpiles. Maybe there is a mod for this? If so, please link it. EDIT: A question that I forgot to ask: Could this just be due to poor priority management? [link] [comments]

Combat Extended: Colonists carrying too much ammo Posted: 18 Jul 2018 12:59 AM PDT My colonists like to pick up as much ammo as they can carry which leaves little room left for hauling building materials etc, I've resorted to a cumbersome system of having colonists drop ammo, designate them to pick up X amount, and then forbid the leftover ammo stack. There has to be a better way... Can you designate how much ammo one carries with the load-out system? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jul 2018 01:38 PM PDT One of my colonists died from a psychic ship mechas. I revived her with the serum and I noticed she got fixed up... a bit? Her arm, that was shot off, grew back, and her shattered ribs are whole again. But she still has scars? How comes this fixes missing limbs, but not a scar from a squirrel's paw? [link] [comments]

| The RimWorld Survival Reality Show Posted: 17 Jul 2018 02:10 PM PDT Hello, hello, hello! Welcome to the 7th season of The Rimworld Survival Reality Show! Here we take ten people, throw them out onto a rimworld, and see who lasts the longest. The rules are simple. After every five days the whole colony votes on their least favorite person(see social tab) and the person who's hated the most is banished, never to be seen again or get a chance at the great prize. This goes on until there are only two colonists left where the final winner is decided by who has the higher mood. For the full set of rules/this scenario see here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=740348516&searchtext=reality+show Now let us meet our contestants: Markus was a sentimental child who found the best way to help people was to grow up to be a special forces soldier. He's trigger happy, loves plants, and after years of training and combat is sure to be a force to be reckoned with on the field! Princess grew up as a medical assistant, helping her parents in the infirmary during a large war. After growing up in such hard conditions and forsaking her kind hearted soul she became a ruthless urbworld entrepreneur with a chemical interest. Lets see how her experience on the field and in the office translates to the rim! Ana grew up used as a scout and eventually took off to mine in deep space. She can survive in the wilderness with ease and knows how to use her hands well. This pyro will be sure to burn away the competition! Levin started life out on the streets but eventually was taken in and learned chemistry. He went on to become a pharmacist but his big dreams were crushed when he was captured by a slaver and forced to do inhumane testing on others before being sold off to Glitter Entertainment Inc and thrown out into the rim. His optimism has got him through his life so far, but will it get him championship on the rim? Webley grew up on a medieval world where he spent his childhood practicing music. His dream of being an entertainer didn't last though, and he became an average horse-riding messager. He's a bit abrasive and not that smart, but he might just have a chance on the rim. Sergei grew up behind enemy lines. He gathered intellect and became an expert in infiltration before being sent off to a medieval farm to live as a simple oaf. He grew fat and became a bit nervous, but his skills are still going to be useful on the rim. Erisen had always been a bit of a nerd and her glitterworld home provided plenty of opportunities for her to use her knowledge. She decided to spend her life trying to perfect long range communication, but now must survive this show to continue that dream. Jerbear was abducted by aliens at a young age but fortunately for him their testing gave him the strength he needed to escape and become a spy. His level headedness and easy communication abilities will be great tools for him out on the rim as long as his sensitivities to psychic phenomenon aren't activated. Alek grew up as an average midworld geek in an average midworld neighborhood. His true talents came later on as he grew pleasing to the eye and learned to design weapons for the army. Hopefully his brain and research experience will get him some value on the rim. Marty was made in a vat and thrown into combat at a young age. After his value as a soldier began to diminish he was sent of to a medieval world where all he could do was become an oaf on a farm. He isn't that bright but his strength and skill can easily make up for it. Hopefully that applies to the rim to. Now the contestants are met and it's time for the show! Day 1 - The day began with setting up camp(image of day 1 camp here) and exploring the area. We've found a hive with strange, large insects around it that will eventually have to get taken care of. For now we still need to make a dining hall and a meeting place for choosing who we banish. Along with setting up some farms since we only came here with 100 meals. Day 2 - We distributed weapons today are are preparing to take care of the insect threat before it gets up later on. We've built an ok dining hall which will double as our meeting area for when be must begin banashing. Day 3 - Today is the day we do it. The hive can not pose a threat to us throughout this entire game. While we've still got our numbers and our best doctors we must move to destroy the hive and the insects around it. We decided to ambush them early in the morning while they slept. All our melee combatants: Ana, Levin, and Weebly fell and are now being treated. The only other person who was injured was Marty and now our biggest threat is out of the way. After the eventful battle Erisen and Sergei became lovers and got a small room built for them to enjoy while they still can. Day 4 - We received visitors today. It seems this rimworld isn't as isolated as the production company said. A megasloth and a turkey also wandered in today. We now have a surplus of fresh meat. We've built a walk in freezer in the side of a small mountain for our food so it doesn't go bad and we can hunt as much as we please without worry. Day 5 - Today is the first banishment day. Everyone has healed well from the assault on day three and everyone is anxious that they will be first. To take our minds off the upcoming ceremony we began to replace our wood foundations with stone so our pyros pose less of a threat. At the end of the day we all restricted ourselves to the banishment area and voted. Voting was hard as nobody hated anyone, but after tallying up results the least liked was Levin who was banished. Day 6 - Our first raid was today.Luckily is was only one man and Sergei and Webley took care of him without taking injury. Day 7 - Our colony is now functioning well. Day 8 - All buildings are stone and all lighting is electric. Day 9 - One day until the next banishment and Jerber and Ana are lovers. Day 10 - Another bedroom has been made to distract us from the inevitable today. A heatwave started making us have to get more coolers to keep everybody comfortable. Voting round two happened at the end of the day. Markus was voted off this time although it came close to a tie. Day 11 - Some alphabeavers invaded today. We're going to have a lot of meat. We also got a thrumbo around our colony. It's a little more intimidating than the beavers. Day 12 - We've finished our AC system just as an electrical malfunction happened and we lost all our stored up power. Day 13 - To solve our power problem we decided to build another solar panel which required expanding our steel mines. Another raid came today. This time two people who were still easy to defeat. Although this time Sergei and Webley were injured in combat. The day ended off with a third set of lovers containing Alek and Princess and some easily taken care of blight on the rice field. Day 14 - Another bedroom was built today. We really don't tend to do much here besides maintain the colony. At this point only two people are sleeping in the main bunker which we will probably renovate at some point. We buried the fallen raiders and got some yorkies as new members of the colony to end off the day. Day 15 - Four person raid today. The colony went to shoot them down while they killed some yorkies. The beds in the bunker have been removed, but we aren't sure what to replace them with. It also seems like all the blight wasn't got and we had to cut down a good bit of our rice fields to stop it. Voting time came once again today to. First tie happened today. After the runoff vote Webley was banned to the dismay of the colony. Luckily so far all banned contestants have been single.
