Want to learn dota and/or play in a team? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 06:15 AM PDT Hi there. Im elow, currently managing and owning the primarily european team and community "Rank Rune". I am fully aware that the team name doesn't really scream seriousnes, however the name has quite the backstory. In summary we are a gaming community focused on one objective, making dota a more enjoyable place. that is for every skill level. We have teams and coaches with different skillsets to make you not only better as a player but also in a team if you so desire. We are currently recruiting players for a Rank Rune junior team. A team made for crusader to legend players with the will to improve in a proffessional enviroment. We are also looking for members to make our beloved family bigger. tldr: dota community with teams of all skill levels looking for players and members. Anyone want a free gameplay analysis? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 07:25 PM PDT I'm starting a YT series where I do some gameplay analysis and maybe coaching. I was wondering if there was anyone on here that would like to volunteer some gameplay in case they want some extra insight. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Why is it so hard to end Trent Protector games? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 08:17 AM PDT This is my 2nd game that went over 65 minutes against Trent protector. Our team dominated early game then we got careless and sloppy and over committed against the towers but didn't get to quite end it and it gets repaired. I just don't know how to deal with this guy. I was Arc Warden had butterfly, bloodthorn, sheep stick, mjolnir, silver edge, Bkb and a moonshard buff. I had butterfly switched to skadi since I could no longer burst them since they had aeon disk or the pudge and Centaur was too Tanky. I switched my bkb to satanic to tank the blademail. if Bkb is off cooldown I used it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2018 10:36 AM PDT Does Fortune's End become a basic dispel when applied on enemies? Does it remove more buffs from enemies than basic dispels like Nullifier? [link] [comments] |
[800MMR - Spectre] Would love a quick replay review ! <3 Posted: 05 Jul 2018 03:32 PM PDT https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3990566698 Some context:
When I looked at replay, I felt like biggest issue was Sniper getting destroyed mid, giving SF too much room (to gank me included) and that I didn't do THAT bad (800 MMR/mid guardian considering) compared to a Medusa that got some kills/assist thanks to her team. But then I looked at my GPM and was super disappointed in myself but OTOH I couldn't really farm anymore once I had Radiance because of my team being so dominated. I think it's an interesting game because I didn't hate my performance, yet my GPM is bad... what can you guys tell me about it ? [link] [comments] |
tips for 60+ min games? (as a carry) Posted: 05 Jul 2018 08:44 AM PDT hey. im a 3k player looking to improve. i played a 76 minute game as spectre and lost, but im looking for some tips and advice to win my next one hour game as a carry. the advice could be generally about my item choices, or what i could have done/bought to win the late game. here is the dotabuff link to the match: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3989958806 thanks in advanced :) ps: it was a team challenge match so the enemies were higher ranked and i guess skilled than me and my team [link] [comments] |

Any way I could have won this game? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 08:33 AM PDT The match ID is 3989978568, I was the Storm. We were doing really well at first, but later couldn't win fights. I felt like the reason we lost was because one of my teammates dying alone in a dangerous place while we were all away from him, forcing us to fight the deciding fight 4v5. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Jul 2018 09:16 PM PDT Hello DotA community, my name is Trepo and I'm an Ancient 4 Mid player from U.S East. Through the past year I've been offering free coaching sessions to everyone who needs it. I've decided to create a Discord server to make, or at least try, a friendly coaching site, for free. I'm currently looking for players, (preferably high skilled) who are willing to offer free coaching sessions to help people out. The Discord includes tips for every position (carry, mid, offlane, roam, support). I'll add more over time. Here's the Discord channel! everyone is invited. I hope you guys contribute to make this server big! TL;DR: I created a Discord server that provides free coaching sessions. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2018 08:10 AM PDT What do you guys think of this, start with Basilius ring that have +7 dmg to last hit, upgrade it into aquila ? and start shoving and pushing enemy mid lane? what do you guys think of this build [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2018 03:34 PM PDT Ive played 1800 hours and ive been stuck at 1500 mmr for what feels like forever. I have a huge problem with tilting really easily and being a toxic asshole which im trying to deal with, atleast i realized it and have stopped spamming games when im tilted. Im aware theres tons of things so i dont really need too specific advice like "you should buy this item on this hero cause xyz". Id recommend not looking further back than max 15 games, i really prefer playing pos 4/5 but i sometimes feel like its impossible to win games with some of these cores so i decide to play core for a few games and then tilt> take a break> back to support. Posted: 05 Jul 2018 06:41 AM PDT I decided to play position 5 support last few months but I'm struggling with one match win and lost the next match. I think I know the duties of a support such as warding, pulling and stacking camps, harassing enemy offlaner, tp backup and positing in the battle not to die too much. I feel like I'm completely depending on my carry to win the game no matter how good I'm. For me, I will win a match if my carry is good or I lose that match. I want to know is there any things I can do with my situations. Sorry for my poor writing. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2018 07:35 AM PDT 1.3k here. I know I'm low mmr, but when people say "jungling works in low mmr", "2-1-2 is always the meta in low mmr ", "counter picks don't matter in low mmr ", at what mmr range do these things stop being true? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2018 02:51 PM PDT Ive seen people bring up the cookie challenge etc, been interested to try it out but was wondering a few things In what game mode do people generally try to practice these things? is it a custom game mode? just a bot game w/ bots? [link] [comments] |
Strategy against Invoker Quas Wex mid? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 03:21 AM PDT I played against a really good Quas Wex invoker mid. He had high sustain and would always drain my mana. I spent a lot of gold on mangos and clarity. Should I have left the lane or stayed? How do I deal with him? His tornado emp combo made me have to heal via potions shrine or walking to base. I was arc warden. [link] [comments] |
Turning laning success in to wins Posted: 05 Jul 2018 10:31 AM PDT So ive been doing a lot of analysis of my own game play lately after hitting a bad losing skid, and i have been noticing a trend thats both frustrating and encouraging: I am generally winning my lanes, and even the bad ones are draws. Now ill put a disclaimer: the threshold for winning lanes in sub 1K is probably super low, but on replays i have either the best or close to creep score at 10 mins, and maybe a few kills. Opendota's analysis tools have been very helpful with figuring this out. The issue: this isnt translating in to wins. Normally getting the T1s are easy, then the game stalls out. For instance i had a Gyro game where i got a lot of early kills, but we couldnt do anything after the T1s came down, and late game i fell off hard. How do you keep the momentum going/foot on the gas? Low tier games tend to go long (40+) unless its a complete stomp. How do you push highground vs Sniper? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 02:02 PM PDT He always just stays in the back and doesn't allow you to push, until he is farmed af and you can't do anything to him. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2018 05:28 PM PDT My account is relatively new; I have fewer than 600 matches played, but I have watched a lot of Dota and have a pretty good grasp of the game. I have good farming patterns as a carry. I will win mid matchups pretty consistently, I buy tons of wards and have decent placement on them as support, and I feel my item choices are decent. There are things I know I don't do well: I could check the map more, I don't click on enemy heroes enough, my mechanics are a bit below what they should be, and my gaming setup really limits me (I play on a Macbook Pro and am on shitty wifi, none of which I can change right now). I just finished my cavern so I decided to start playing ranked again, which I haven't done since the new ranked season began. I'm three games into calibration and I'm remembering why I stopped playing ranked: each game the first two picks were our mid and hard carry, everyone starts fighting immediately (my most recent game our first-pick mid Storm Spirit refused to sell the ward he bought during strategy time so I, the support Phoenix, could buy it for him), incessant arguing about who is getting which lane, complete and utter disorganization, and no one listening when suggestions are made or help is offered. Quite frankly, I'm just not sure what I can do. I know the general idea is that if I'm as good as I think I am then I should be able to get us to victory through my play, but at the MMR I'm stuck in, that never seems to be a possibility. If I don't play support then we get stuck with 5 cores and everyone fighting for farm. One of their cores inevitably gets fed, and no matter how well my lane goes I can't keep pace as a result. When I play support, our cores spend the entire game trying to do nothing but fight, or jungle, so I'm left to solo push lanes that are shoved in to our tier 2s, and if I try and give direction I'm basically told to go fuck myself by those I'm trying to direct. Every once in a while I will get a decent team that works together, but those games are so few and far between that I can't make any progress in climbing out of the hole. There must be something I can do to better increase my odds of winning, but I'm getting frustrated trying everything and running out of ideas. Do I just say fuck my team, pick a carry and do my best to out-farm the other team? Do I only pick split-push heroes and try and win rat dota? Should I play support and just babysit one of my cores the whole game, in spite of all the stupid things they do? What has everyone done to escape the garbage basement of the Herald ranks? TLDR: I'm stuck at the lowest MMR with no discernible chance of escape due to "damned if I do, damned if I don't" role situations. I'm frustrated and need help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2018 01:31 PM PDT so ive been playing Dota2 for a while now... 1,7k hours. [link] [comments] |
Why does prioritizing carries in lane feels so detrimental for the team? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 01:21 PM PDT I have been playing solo (mostly support) for some time. Recently I started playing with a group where one of which I know irl and lane together. He has played a lot more than I have, and so guides me, (he plays carry) tells me how to play like letting him take all the creep gold and/or xp (when in jungle). I find this extremely frustrating and detrimental for the team because one decent fed support and a decent carry will far outweigh (in my limited experience) one "prioritized" carry and a shitty support who doesn't get any creep/kill gold. When playing with him I usually get totally dominated and useless, while he (pretty fed because of creep gold) lasts longer, gets ganks on loners but not able to do much in team fights because it's essentially 4 v 5. When I play alone and don't give a shit about the carry I do fairly well. And really well some times. Otherwise it's just limiting and counter productive. This might be a misleading title, but the core issue that I'm dealing with is my own belief that carries and supports getting the same amount of experience and gold will outweigh one really good carry with shittier team mates in team fights. I believe that laners on the same team should always compete for the creep gold because he is usually the better player. However, I understand that this logic applies to unraked/solo games. Would you like to watch me badly play dotes? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 01:18 PM PDT ID: 3990383369 I played Shadow Shaman, as safe lane support, unranked all pick. Specter was my lane partner, against an Axe and Keeper of the Light. Early game was rough, KotL kept using his charged shot which really chunked our health. I grab magic resist early but I don't know if it really helped. Both sides of the lane were aggressive, kills ended up kinda equal but we were losing towers. Most of my play revolved around channeling my stun to start fights, followed by usually hexing the same target if they aren't dead. And then if the fight's big enough I probably died. Some of these deaths are probably an inevitable part of being a fight initiator, but I'm sure most were just the result of me being bad. There are some mistakes that I can point out outright. Quite a few items I bought I never used the actives for. Dagon was basically a pointless buy, probably too late into the game even if I actually used it. Tranqual boots are a bit questionable, I'm not sure the regen was worth it. Jughernaut seemed annoyed I didn't have arcane boots instead. I think I waited too long to buy boots. I used my Q maybe three times the whole match. I only bought wards when I was asked to. A few times I extended out without vision or back up and quite obviously I died for it. [link] [comments] |
Need help deciding on a new hero to learn Posted: 05 Jul 2018 06:52 AM PDT What are some heroes that are similar to Ember Spirit? I have played way too many games as Ember (physical damage build), he is by far my favorite hero. I just can't find another hero that gives me the same satisfaction. I love the mobility gained from BoTs and his ultimate, along with his teamfighting potential gained from his slight of fist. I thought about Alchemist with octarine, radiance, and BoTs, but from what I've been reading/looking at the stats, he seems like a bad hero right now. I would greatly appreciate any other hero recommendations/advice. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Best late-game carries for 3k mmr? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 11:57 AM PDT I've been stuck at this mmr range for way too long, and like 80% of my losses are because the enemy team had better late-game and we couldn't finish early, so I'm going to give lategame carries a shot. What are the best ones to pick in this bracket? [link] [comments] |
