The problem isn't a lack of content - It's a lack of rewards Posted: 06 Jul 2018 05:32 AM PDT A lot of content these days is still valid and still extremely enjoyable. Look, for example, at the core map events. They are still incredibly polished and a lot of fun to play. But why do we still flock to a very few pieces of content to waste our time away at? It's due to the simple fact that some pieces of content have better rewards than others. Currently, these are the types of content that are mainly played by the majority of the player base (this is an extrapolation of my experiences, the sub-reddit, guildies, general game knowledge and map chat). - Fractals - Raids - Palawadan - Berry Farming - Leather Farming - Silver Wastes - Collections - Hearth of Thorns meta events Now, what all of these things have in common is that they award the following things: skins, gold, unique items and crafting materials. And it's good that people want these things, but unfortunately, it's the *only* things that people can aim for. So what do I mean when I say that there isn't a lack of content, but rather a lack of rewards? The idea is simple: add more unique rewards to already existing content. Here is a list of content that is barely played, but could receive a giant boost in revitalisation if they'd receive unique rewards. 1 - Core map events: The Ogre Wars event already is a prime example of how core maps can still receive a giant boost in popularity if there would be unique, exciting rewards to get. In the Ogre Wars, people can get the "Sam" reward, a special item needed for a popular collection. People still regularly play this event because "Sam" is worth 250 gold. A sum that should not be ignored, if one would get such a drop. The next logical step would be to add big reward drops to similar event chains throughout the core maps. Possible rewards could include: - Unique aura's - Collections that include multiple events from multiple maps, rewarding unique skins - A season pass, akin to Fortnite's, that requires you to do specific events and kill X amount of monsters. Rewards could include liquid gold, karma, dungeon tokens and laurels. 2 - World Bosses: Although many of them require a rework, and they're still very popular for the regular player, the excitement of killing them doesn't motivate enough players to see it as a valid game mode worthy of investing their precious game time in. Killing a world boss only awards some rare items, which is bland and predictable. Tequatl breaks this pattern by dropping a set of unique Ascended weapons. The Triple Trouble also does this with unique armour skins. The problem, however, is that there are a lot more world bosses that don't give a unique, special and very rare drop. I think the time should be spent to give each world boss a unique reward, that players would be excited to receive, and keeps motivating them to come back time and time again. 3 - Underwater content: With the rebalance of underwater skills, the gameplay involving underwater combat has risen in quality by a dramatic amount. We should take this opportunity to add a collection for a Legendary Underwater Aquabreather, which would require a large amount of underwater content in order to achieve. This item would give a unique visual bonus on land as well, in the form of bubbles trailing behind you (or any other special effect). Due to the fact that this underwater item would give a terrestrial effect, it would become a highly-sought out item for anyone that is wanting to spruce up their character's fashion. All of these items, however, must be tradable and very rare, including the legendary aquabreather. This would mean that people will actively play this content for the monetary value that they could gain with it. It can be seen with the generation 1 legendary weapon set and their precursors. They're still one of the only rare and exciting item drops that this game knows, with the exception of some rare aura's dropped in Hearth of Thorns. WE NEED MORE EXPENSIVE, RARE REWARDS THAT ACT AS A GOAL FOR PEOPLE. Now, the next question you might be asking is if this type of update would be worth developing if it meant sacrificing a living world episode. I think the answer here is a giant yes. People are not being angry because there isn't enough content, they're angry because there isn't enough meaningful content, which is a gigantic difference. The only way to get more meaningful content is to get meaningful incentives, and that can only be achieved by offering rewards that are exciting. Think of what this update could mean for the entire game community. Either ArenaNet spends their time working on another episode, which we know only includes a new map, new story and a new legendary, or ArenaNet takes the time to give us much more interesting rewards that would make a giant portion of the game viable again for gameplay. Posted: 06 Jul 2018 05:10 PM PDT I'm just posting this because I think its really sad that literally no one on reddit talked about the most recent Guild Chat yet. If you are here and you have no idea what a Guild Chat is, basically it is a stream where Anet developers explain how they made something, kinda like a live making of. You can watch the most recent Guild Chat about the Deepstone fractal on Twitch or on Youtube. [link] [comments]

To all the new players that are just starting GW2... Posted: 06 Jul 2018 05:45 AM PDT .. I envy you. I really do. Those first weeks and months.. pure exploration and discovery. Insanely huge world with even more content at this point. Just take your time and enjoy the game. I'd give an arm right now to be able to go back to 2012. and "start again" :) [link] [comments]

Today I joined the "100k trade contract no music box" club Posted: 06 Jul 2018 02:53 PM PDT Started farming since I had around 100 contracts or so. My luck sux but I'm not even mad. Please don't pay attention to the inventory, it gets messy like that on every runs. Edit: Somehow the link didn't show up, here it is https://imgur.com/a/hfW2BAd [link] [comments]
