Must be a thrill to work with this Dev. Posted: 04 Jul 2018 11:10 AM PDT When you publicly attack someone who was simply engaging in a discussion with a professional simply to give insight or seen an opportunity to interact with a professional and suddenly that person is shut down, only to turn this into a gender issue which HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, you better know that you lost any sort of professional credibility and all respect. It is sad that you have this platform to share such hateful and closed minded act, rather than being engaged into discussion and sharing information. You are not entitled for anything if you behave like that, and you will get treated exactly the way you treat people. Ok bye. [link] [comments]

Inks also gets shot down by JP on Twitter... What is her problem? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 05:14 PM PDT What is going on? I think ArenaNet need to make an official statement on this, 'private' Twitter or not... Edit: Quotes for people who are blocked, which apparently is a lot of people.

Mounts in MMOs will never feel the same to me Posted: 04 Jul 2018 05:42 AM PDT I've had my issues with Guild Wars 2 lately, but for all it's faults I feel like they have created one of the best mount systems I have ever seen in an MMO. I recently went back to WoW to prepare my characters for the upcoming expansion, and while I always maintained that WoW has many more mounts than GW2, it's only after I came back to GW2 to unlock the roller beetle that I realised that in a very real way, the latter actually has more mounts because each one actually feels different to ride. So now, as I find myself hopping from MMO to MMO as I often do (and will while waiting for episode 4) mounts are never going to feel the same to me again - There's no real point to this post really, I just wanted to shout out the amazing developers who made the mount system what it is! Tricks are nice but the beetle should regain endurance by drifting Posted: 04 Jul 2018 07:18 PM PDT The mastery to regain endurance when doing tricks in the air is amusing, but there are a couple glaring problems. 1) There are nearly no places where you can actually get enough air to perform a trick without landing early and losing endurance. 2) When you're going fast enough to gain air, you probably don't even need the endurance to boost because you're probably already going fast. The main points in which you actually want boosts is when you're changing direction and have to build up velocity again. It seems to me this mount would feel better if you had increased endurance regeneration while moving beyond a certain speed threshold AND facing a different direction than you're moving (while drifting). I don't know how technically feasible that is to implement, and don't really expect much to change with the mount now, but there are way more circumstances in which to drift than there are to get air, and (imo) it feels much better to gain a speed boost coming out of a sharp turn than it is to maintain speed after a high landing. Updated my sPvP guide with more advanced stuff and video examples Posted: 04 Jul 2018 02:35 PM PDT You guys seemed to like the guide I wrote so I updated it with a bunch of advanced combat mechanics and video examples. Hopefully you'll learn a thing or two! If you have any requests or things that aren't clear that you'd like me to cover and add to it, I'd be happy to look into it. Thanks for reading! [NA] “I <3 Heart of Thorns” Starterpack, ft. Full Map Completion Posted: 04 Jul 2018 12:57 PM PDT Hello /r/guildwars2! On Saturday July 7 at 11:30 AM CDT (UTC-5), I will be leading a map completion train through all of Heart of Thorns. No waypoints, mounts, or masteries needed aside from the ones listed below. We will be covering the ENTIRETY of base Heart of Thorns, including hero points, mastery points, strongboxes, waypoints, points of interest, vistas, jumping puzzles, meta events, and hidden achievements. Yes, you read that right. EVERYTHING >:D Please make sure you have:
Tentative Itinerary for the Day (in CDT time)
This is a full day event, so you are welcome to hop in and out. I will be trying to keep the map as full as possible with overflow squads, but I can't guarantee you a spot in the case everything fills. This event will also be live-streamed at https://www.twitch.tv/eminyaa. Swing by, say hi even if you're on the train! I'll be answering most questions there. I will be playing on my Chrono 'Emi Nyaa'. Squad will be up at 11 exact. The first 10 minutes will be reserved for whisper invites only. Once it hits XX:10, the squad will be up in LFG → Open World → Verdant Brink. This is on a strict first-come-first serve basis, so please don't spam my chat if the squads are full! Feel free to add me on Emikadon.8542. If you have any questions, you're welcome to whisper or mail me in game. Once the train starts, it'll be hard to respond to individual people, so please be understanding if I don't reply. Thank you, and I hope to see you there! :D [link] [comments]

Why is the Healing Turret designed to not be used as a turret? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 01:55 PM PDT Any engineer will tell you that the healing turret has worse healing when left deployed, so the design encourages instantly detonating the turret for the blast finisher, especially during the water field. Doesn't seem very turret-like at all, but it's still the most powerful, versatile, and simple heal that Engineers have, and sees use in a good 90% of builds. This is more a matter of semantics, why call something a turret when it's to be used like a remotely detonated bomb? [link] [comments]
Maybe it's just me, but the beetle could be better. Posted: 04 Jul 2018 09:37 AM PDT I should say, before the lynch mobs, the mounts in GW2 are by far the best I have ever used in an MMO and the beetle is now my go-to for fast ground travel. I love it! There is one thing that bugs me though. I feel penalized for trying tricks. When I land tricks it feels cool and I gain a little endurance, but not much. If I fail to land it I lose most of what I had. It does not seem worth it to try tricks and instead wait for the endurance to build naturally. It seem to make more sense to have tricks be just for flair and drifting be what gives you endurance. That way if you slide hard into a corner nearly to a stop, you can boost the hell out of there. Am I alone on this? [link] [comments]

Subject S event chain at Sandswept Isles has been bugged since at least early May Posted: 04 Jul 2018 11:03 AM PDT It is close to impossible to finish the Redeeming IG-6417 achievement and it seems that the devs are not even trying to fix it. Proof that this bug has been reported in early May. [link] [comments]

Is this game solo/duo friendly? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 04:45 PM PDT WoW player here, considering to make the jump to GW2. I prefer PvE and was wondering if GW2's dungeons and endgame content can be done solo or as a duo. Do I need to have a huge raid group like in WoW to be able to participate in endgame content? Do I need to join a 4/5 man party for dungeons? I'm interested in playing this with only ONE friend so I was wondering how far we can get into this game as a duo party. Also, that friend is new to MMORPGs, how noob friendly is this game? Lastly, are expansions a must for endgame content and which one is recommended? Thanks in advance for all your answers! Will we ever get a FotM armor? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 01:12 AM PDT What do you think about that? Do you even want a FotM armor? I'd love to have such an armor, because I love FotM and their aesthetic. [link] [comments]
In defense of the Roller Beetle. Posted: 04 Jul 2018 06:00 PM PDT Ever since the release of "Long live the Lich", I've been seeing complaints about why the new beetle mount is frustrating to deal with, or just not worth the effort to get, and I wanted to propose a some counter arguments. The first thing I usually see is complaints about the beetle starting at 0% endurance. While I can understand the reason behind the complaints, because it's the only mount to do so, there's also a very good reason for it. If the beetle were to start at full endurance, like the other mounts, having that insane startup speed just by pressing a couple buttons would render the other mounts nearly completely obsolete except for when their specific mechanics are useful. Anytime you'd need to go anywhere, the beetle would be your go to, because it's the fastest without question. Because of the time it takes to charge up that boost, the other mounts will still have a use for shorter travels, and tighter, more precise turns. The only time a beetle would be a better mount in that regard is if it's on a downhill slope, and they accelerate really quickly, overtaking the other mounts without needing to wait 15 seconds or so. The next complaint I usually see is about tricks, and specifically their fail condition. When you fail a trick, you lose 1/3rd of your total endurance. Failing a trick happens when you land still holding space, or by landing less than 5/8ths of a second after first initiating the trick. The punishment can be annoying, though when you learn how to pull them off properly, and get the timing down for how high you should be before trying to start a trick, it's extremely rewarding, getting your boost that much quicker. It's a learning curve, and it adds a layer of depth to the mechanics that ask some skill from the player. Other aspects of the beetle that demand skill is drifting, and water skipping. Similar to doing tricks, they each add their own dimension to the use of the beetle, and while drifting is the much more prominent feature, water skipping does have it's own areas as well. Drifting will help maintain speed along sharp turns, while water skipping will help maintain speed along longer bodies of water, both of which are very essential skills to keep your beetle rolling at top speed. So in conclusion, the beetle mechanics are not as forgiving as the other mounts, which have their own unique skills, and have very accurate movement. The beetles require an amount of skill to keep moving where you need to go, and you have to be willing to learn how to use them to get the most out of them. Your punishment for not learning is failing your tricks and losing endurance, crashing into a wall for not being able to drift, or drowning poor petey in the lake you just tried to cross. Once you can control the beetle and get used to how it moves, you will, as Joel said in the behind the scenes video, change the way you look at the world around you, and how to traverse it.
