| Healing revenant is actually the best thing ever Posted: 19 Jul 2018 08:42 AM PDT I was dissatisfied with my harrier firebrand setup for fractals, so I put all my harrier gear on a kalla/centaur renegade and holy Joko, this is a satisfying support class. I understand why druid is typically better for raids (10-man buffs), but I'm really shocked that heal revenant isn't considered meta for fractals. It provides perma alacrity, 25-stack might, fury, protection, regen, assassin's presence (PASSIVE +150 ferocity) the tablet heals for like 5k hps and clears all conditions, and the kalla ultimate increases your group dps by 10k. It also does 960 breakbar damage with staff 5 (which will instantly break any breakbar in 5-mans) and deals > 5k dps w/o buffs, with all your tablet heals off the global cooldown. Like, this build is crazy. I'm absolutely in love with it. | The Rollerbeetle is so much fun that I'd rather hurtle across the map with it than waypoint. Posted: 19 Jul 2018 01:19 PM PDT FINALLY doing all these PoF achievements. It's a horrorshow, getting anything done. All these group bosses, almost impossible to find groups for. However, that also means that I'm all over the place. Go there, do that. Go here, do this. And time and time again I find myself hopping on my beetle and go there on foot, so to speak. Joy of Movement, indeed. Well done, Anet. You set the bar for years and years to come. Thank you. A quick edit: Same goes, of course, for all the other mounts. However, the Rollerbeetle fills his niche exceptionally well. Long-distance travel without turning the travel itself passive and therefore the distance traveled irrelevant. Drifting, tricks, having to keep up momentum and plan the boosts ahead, avoiding obstacles, it all keeps one busy while blasting across the landscape. Efficient, yet incorporating the player. So very well done. [link] [comments] | ||

| That's No Tornado [SAND] Celebrating 3rd Birthday this weekend! Posted: 19 Jul 2018 03:49 PM PDT Hey folks! This Saturday, SAND turns three years old. It's been nothing but an absolute privilege to be at the helm since our modest start, and in true SANDie fashion, we're celebrating this weekend and inviting all of you to join us! We'll be out in Dry Top organizing lots of T6 runs, handing out and raffling out prizes, listening to music, and talking in Discord/map chat. Please feel free to share in the festivities with us! We are on the NA servers: Friday July 20th: Dry Top @ 6 pm PDT (1 hour after reset.)
Saturday July 21st: Dry Top @ 6 pm PDT (1 hour after reset.)
Our Discord will be open both nights, so be sure to come in and chat and/or listen! We have a music bot named Rythm, so we warn you now - he's loud! Be sure to lower his volume anywhere from 6-20% before entering. Sunday will be a very "loosey goosey" day for us. We may end up in Dry Top again, we might end up elsewhere, or we might just sing songs badly in Discord. ;) I'll let folks know via Twitter @DryTopSAND if we're up to something! Our map ended up getting full last year, so I'll have us in LFG earlier than usual, and will also be posting when to check in LFG us there. I am beyond excited to celebrate with new and old friends alike! The support we've received over the years not only from SANDies themselves, but the Dry Top and GW2 community and developers as a whole, has been appreciated! We hope to see you out there with us - it is truly a joy to bring love and help to the sandy dunes and glistening oasis grasses of Dry Top. ~ Muirellthe Moon P.S. Special thank you to [DTOP], [RTGC], and [EMP] (Synergy/Dynamics) for being so generous with notifying their members, and an extra helping of thanks to DTOP for being willing to change their usual event time on Friday in order to join us and be part of the organization! | Posted: 19 Jul 2018 09:15 AM PDT I know there have been a tonne of these over time, but there's something I want to address which seems like most people have passed by. While everyone knows that medium armour is trenchcoat haven, there being very few skins that don't go down to the knee or further, there's also very few shoes. Everything is boots. So if all of medium armour is designed that the tops go down to the knees, and the shoes go up to the knees, why do we even have an option to change the look of our pants? WE NEVER GET TO SEE THEM. I've gotten to a point where I only ever use one or two different sets because they're the ones I know will hide the fact that the skins of the shoes should go five miles up my legs. Can we have some more shoes, anet? Or sandals that don't include a random leg strap? [link] [comments] | ||

| I made a 'group pic' of my account's characters together! Posted: 19 Jul 2018 04:45 AM PDT This is another attempt, using a blander background How I made it: first I made a screenshot of every one of my characters, like this one in front of the same wall, then I cut them out very carefully using paint.net and pasted them all in one shot. I also tried with a more interesting background (Gilded Hollow), which is nicer but the characters stand out less than they do in front of the plain brown wall. I don't know which is better. After 5 and a half years of playing, I have grown pretty attached to them. [link] [comments] | ||

| Need help regarding which loot bag/boxes to open at 80, or 50-something? Posted: 19 Jul 2018 02:45 PM PDT I'm a bit confused regarding this. I know for the MF items, they should be opened at level 80. But the rest of the bags? There are so many bags and I know some bags are recommended to open at 80 because they only drop tier 5/6 items. Is there a list available somewhere? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 19 Jul 2018 06:17 AM PDT After I saw sofn's post about condi holo i was inspired to improve the rotation and see what kind of dps i could get. I made a few small changes to the rotation to make it more smooth overall and i was very surprised by the results. Condi engi is currently benchmarking at around 34k and i was able to get 33.7k which means that condi holo is basically the same dps as condi engi. Besides being easier to play condi holo also has a much higher opening burst. Because of the higher burst and faster ramp up time, on any fight with phases you will get significantly better results using this build over condi engi. [link] [comments] | ||

| Dying so much trying to Navigate HoT Posted: 19 Jul 2018 06:05 PM PDT I feel like the mob density is insane in HoT I'm a returning player and can't afford PoF for awhile so no mount and I'm just getting destroyed trying to navigate the zones. /rant EDIT: Sorry for the whine my gear is dogshit am fixing now. | Soulless Horror Wave Spawn Analysis Results In Random Noise!? Posted: 19 Jul 2018 01:37 AM PDT I've analyzed multiple tries over about 15 videos tons of waves (1911 spawns and 5911 pieces) and I expected to get a simple result: regardless of where you stand it's equally safe. What I found was nothing like what I expected. The results for the first two phases of the boss fight seem like random noise. Even worse the second phase that takes place for 57% of the fight with constant damage looks more like perlin noise, like literally straight out of Minecraft. I did not anticipate this result and it's weird. Also enjoy the height map created from the second phase data. :P [link] [comments] | ||
| How would we ever figure anything out without Dulfy.net? Posted: 18 Jul 2018 10:12 PM PDT EDIT : Someone left a comment that fully explains my sentiments on the matter: --- Seriously, think of all the small out the way BS some collections require. When you see how hidden they are, I keep thinking how I wouldn't have found it realistically on my clues/hunches anyway. Imagine doing roller beetle collections or griffin mount without a guide. Maybe it's just me but it's a bit tiring to have to have a wiki/guide open constantly for MMOs these days... [link] [comments] | ||

| Replayability of new maps and farming - Are generic bags of loot and rewards an issue? Posted: 19 Jul 2018 05:11 PM PDT I see a lot of people complaining about new maps not being rewarding enough, or having low replayability. I think a lot of that perception comes to how rewards are done on maps and meta events. bags of loot seem mostly the same across maps, so if you need to gather any material, the best way to do it is always to find the map that rewards the most bags and farm that map until you are done. I think this approach is flawed as it will always make one map superior (even if only marginally) to others and that map will get all the players flocking to it no matter what they want to achieve. New LS maps have each an unique currency that is mostly used to get trinkets with unique stats, achievement items or legendaries. If you are not farming for any of those there are options to trade the currency for generic bags of loot that include T5-T6 materials. Previous LS maps also had their currency being able to become ascended crafting material (bloodstone dust, dragonite ore, empyreal fragment) so if you needed any of those you knew where to go to get them. What if each map instead of rewarding generic bags of loot (T5-T6 mats) from metas, heart vendors and mobs would have a higher reward drop, of one or two specific T5-T6 mats? Similar how you have the leather farm in lake doric, but more widely implemented on the maps.
Maybe this would also help the economy of T5-6 materials to balance, as one material becomes more or less profitable, players can farm more or less the map or individual drop rates can be changed. Do you think something like this would help bring people to more different maps and make easier to understand where and what to farm for getting crafting mats? (Instead of the current "just farm whatever makes more gold and buy stuff") Or do you think it would only split up the player base too thin across maps and its better to have everyone moving to whatever flavor of the month map is going?
